Problems with SNMP on procurve switches

Having problems with our Procurve Switches being scanned in Spiceworks. One note I read said I had to enable SSH on each one. I did that the crypto key is there and still a no go. Another note said that I needed SNMP enabled for Spiceworks to read them. So on one switch I ran the commands I got from a HP site for enabling SNMPFrom the config setting in the switchsnmpv3 enableI created the MD5 authentication passwordI created the privacy passwordI created a user that uses SHA and created the passwordI entered the command snmp-server community "public"I entered the command snmp host (IP of Spiceworks) "public" allNow when I type in show snmp-server I see the IP address of Spiceworks and that SNMP is enabled. But when I try to have spiceworks access it. I keep getting Authentication error (Bad password, community or key). I'm not sure what...

  • Problem with vtp on catos-switches

    Problem with vtp on catos-switches
    connected are three switches:
    | vtp |
    | server |
    | cat or ios |
    |
    |
    | vtp | C3750 or C4506
    | client |
    | ios |
    |
    |
    | vtp | C2948-GE-TX or C2980
    | client |
    | catos |
    1) when the ios-vtp-client restarts after power failure, everything works fine.
    2) when the catos-vtp-client restarts after power failure, everything works fine, too.
    3) if both (ios-vtp-client and catos-vtp-client) restart after power failure at the same time the catos-vtp-client-switch loses its connection/vlan database.
the reason seems to be that the catos-switch is faster in power up and couldn´t connect the vtp-server after booting.
If you change the vlan-database on the vtp server after both switches are running, the catos-switch learns its vlan database and everything works fine, without change in the vlan database the switch is still out of order.
workaround: configure every catos-switch behind an ios-switch in vtp-server mode
is there another solution for my problem?
    thanks and regards

anyone having problems with the on/off switch. It sometimes does not work, I occasionally have to pull the plug out and replug then hit the button and it goes on?

Out of the 100+ millions of iPhone, I'm sure there are many people that have that same problem.  If you do, you have a 1 year warranty... take it in before it runs out.

  • SNMP on ProCurve switches

    Hello,
I have several ProCurve switches on my network. I assigned the "Generic Managed Switch, SNMPv2/3" driver to them and entered the SNMP community string (v2) them...
Regarding SNMP access I get the following status: "Credentials status not yet known".
Regarding the device driver I get the following status: "Status of this driver is currently unknown".
I entered both information several hours ago...
Are there any known issues with ProCurve switches? Is there anything I need to think of?
    Thank you in advance!

  • Airport wifi problems with uverse and gigabit switch resolved

I think there is a bug in airport firmware 7.6 with how spanning tree works in addition to problems with the Uverse router. Having an Airport with a uverse 2wire 3801 and gigabit switch will not work. Putting the extreme in NAT mode with DMZ plus behind the uverse resolved the problem.
    Network configuration:
    Uverse 2wire 3801 router
3801 provides prioritization for upstream traffic so skype and VoIP work better when doing a lot of stuff on Internet
    Airport extreme firmware 7.6
two airport express 802.11n hardwired to extreme. Set up in bridge mode. All access points have same SSID "create a network" to enable roaming. Ignore anything to do with extending a network.  firmware 7.6
    two gigabit switches
        Netgear GS608 - 8 port gigabit switch
        Trendnet TEG-S80g - 8 port gigabit switch
100BT 5 port switch - did not figure into problem
Three Uverse set top boxes wired on Ethernet. They have to be wire directly to the 2wire box to work correctly. See: http://forums.att.com/t5/Features-and-How-To/At-amp-t-U-Verse-modem-setup-Airpor t-Extreme/td-p/2300785
However, you need to be careful to place your own PCs and other internet devices on the network created by your gear (airport extreme in your case), but keep AT&T's set top boxes for the IPTV services IN FRONT of your own router - so they remain on AT&T's provided network.
So it would work like this ...
Network 1: 2wire RG (4 lan ports) ->  Any Set tops, and to the WAN port on your AirportExtreme
Network 2: Airport Extreme LAN ports -> to any computers or internet devices (but not AT&T set top boxes).
The RG prioritizes the traffic for your Uverse Voice and your Uverse TV ahead of internet data traffic, as it rationalizes data heading out of your home.  If you place your own equipment in that equation (like putting AT&T set top boxes behind your Airport Extreme) the performance and function of your AT&T set top boxes could really flake out on you.
    Symptom:
Everything would be working fine, then intermittently all my wifi access points would stop working. ~6,000 ms latency, dropped packets. Ethernet worked fine. Here is an example of my macbook pinging the extreme when associated with the extreme over wifi with a strong signal.
    ping: sendto: Host is down

    64 bytes from 192.168.1.64: icmp_seq=36 ttl=255 time=39.828 ms
    Root cause:
It looks like the 2wire 2801 router has a problem with spanning tree when interoperating with gigabit switches and airports. There is interplay with the airport.
I did not have this problem until the 7.6 airport firmware. I had been using the Netgear hub for about a year with the extreme in bridge mode. I added the Trendnet hub and upgraded airport firmware at the same time which made fault isolation difficult.
    Problem recreation:
Set up airport expresses hard wired to extreme
Connect gigabit switch anywhere to network
    Everything OK
Dettach one computer from wifi then reattach, then all wifi stops working. It takes a few seconds for the problem to propagate.
    Ethernet still works fine
    Problem Resolution:
    Connect to 2wire with ethernet
Set 2wire route to have subnet as 192.168.2.x
Set extreme in NAT mode behind 2wire. It will complain about double NAT. Override the warning. Set the subnet to 192.168.1.x so you don't have to change any static IP addresses. Note that 2wire uses 192.168.1.254 as default route whereas airport uses 192.168.1.1.
I set DHCP to start at .10 to leave the lower addresses for assigning static IP addresses to computers I want to expose outside the firewall.
Go into firewall settings. Select airport extreme. Select the bottom setting which is "DMZ Plus". When you go into the airport extreme settings, you will now see that it has the uverse public IP address on its WAN port. NAT port mappings work fine on the extreme behind the 2wire router.

Keeping this very short here is a summary of the actual problem and solution to allow your Apple Airport Extreme to run in Bridge mode on the same subnet as your uVerse settop boxes (if your Layer 2 switch is configurable).
Devices: Uverse, Cisco SG300, and Airport Extreme
uVerse uses Multicast to broadcast video streams between the uVerse network to the settop box, and from settop box to settop box.
X number of Multicast Groups are created based on X number of settop boxes you have.  You can see the multicast definitions by logging into the webinterface of the iNid. Each settop box is a member and can choose to display a broadcasted TV stream or not.
Multicast membership is setup by the use of ICMP messages for IPv4 (MLD for IPv6).  Each of the settop boxes become members of each others multicast group by reporting up to the iNid (MultiCast Proxy).
In an ideal world a layer 2 switch will track these memberships and only forward a broadcast packet to the ports on the switch to which the settop boxes are connected to.  The switch would do these via snooping on the ICMP packets.  Most switches by default do not do this by default and simply forward the broadcast packett out every one of it's switch ports.
Here in lies the problem.  Problem is that the Apple AES doesn’t do ICMP snooping / filtering and floods the wireless network with these broadcast streams.
In order to fix this you must turn on ICMP snooping and filtering on the switch (or buy a switch that does this).  I have a Cisco SG300 and list out the configuration below.
    Other notes:
Ensure that all Media renderers (settop boxes) and servers are wired directly off the switch and not attached to any of the Airport Express ports.  This way no media transverses the Airport (only control point traffic goes through the WiFi - which is fine).  Obviously if the IGMP snooping switch sees any client requesting Multicast streaming traffic on the same port as the WAP, it will add that Multicast address to the forwarding table for that port, and then, yes it could get flooded.
Remember, you need to allow some Multicast traffic through your WAP to allow UPnP discovery to work (assuming that you will be using Wireless control points.)
Read the Multicast chapter in the SG 300 switch Admin Guide as it explains things very well.
Setting up multicast on the SG300s using the WebUI:
    1. Multicast/Properties/
Tick enable Bridge Multicast Filtering Status for VLAN 1, and
set the Forwarding Method to IP Group Address for both IPv4 & IPv6.
    2. Multicast/ IGMP snooping/
Tick enable IGMP snooping status then select and edit the entry and ensure that IGMP querier status is ticked.
It's essential for IGMP snooping to work that there must be at least one active IGMP querier on the network - if more than one is enabled, they will carry out an "election" to decide which one should be active (normally the one with the lowest IP address.)
    3. Multicast Router Port
Set whichever port that is connected to the uVerse iNid to Status which means that it the uVerse router connected to this port is the Multicast Router
    4. Multicast/ Unregistered Multicast
set all ports to Filtering. (The default is Forwarding.)
There are a lot of other variables within all the above - the defaults are OK, you should probably leave them alone!
In the config file you would then expect to see the above appearing as something like this:
    ip igmp snooping
    ip igmp snooping vlan 1
ip igmp snooping vlan 1 immediate-leave
    interface vlan 1
    bridge multicast mode ipv4-group
    bridge multicast ipv6 mode ip-group
    interface range gi1-10
    bridge multicast unregistered filtering
ip igmp snooping vlan 1 querier
ip igmp snooping vlan 1 querier address <IP-Addr>

  • PRI monitoring problem with SNMP

    Hello
I'm having some problems with PRI monitoring.
    I'm using cpmDS1ActiveDS0 MIB on a 3800 VoIP gateway with 4 PRI (2x2) (IOS 12.4(4)T1)
1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.0 - I can see PRI 0/0/0 total number of calls
1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.1 - I can see PRI 0/0/1 total number of calls
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.1.0 - Error
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.1.1 - Error
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.0.x - Error
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.1.x - Error
The PRIs that we want to see are 0/1/0 e 0/1/1...... (bad luck!)
Do I need to make some special configuration on the Router?

Have you had any responses to this issue ?
I am running into exactly the same issue and have tried everything I can find to get these individual PRI (count of channels/lines in use) statistics.
Just for the record, here are some of the SNMP OIDs that I have tried (the ISRs do respond to them, only thing is, the data they send back is mostly rubbish...) the output below is from two separate routers, with different versions of IOS running (which is shown in the sysdescr response):
Note that the query in red in the second router was responded to with a valid response in the FIRST router...
All of these OIDs have been suggested at various sites online as useable SNMP OIDs for the ISR, but at other sites, they are suggested to be faulty.  I have found no definitive statement for ways to get these stats successfully on the ISR platform (which amazes me.)  Output below is using net-snmp to collect the stats.
I welcome any suggestions as to how this can be done reliably for the ISR, and what IOS versions WILL work.  (since I am getting way different reponses to the same OIDs on the two versions below).
You'll see that for the second (DC) router below, the values are always Zero.
Yet I can guarantee that the ACTUAL stats are NEVER zero during the time period queried.

  • ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock network port has problems with our Cisco 6509 switch

We purchased a ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock for and X1 carbon and the main issue we are having is the network port does not seem to work with our Cisco 6509 switch. I tried updating the firmware on the dock but it still hasn't fixed the issue. I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem with any other networks out there.

I'm seeing the same issue with a ThinkPad W520.  When I connect my ethernet cable directly to the laptop, my internet speeds are on par with my service provider of 18 Mbps.  When I move that cable to the dock, I will only see 1.5 Mbps.  I have two displays attached to the dock and I'm running Windows 7.  I've updated the dock firmware and have installed the latest system drivers.  Is there anything else to try?

  • Linksys router, problems with SNMP

    Hello,
We have several Linksys RVL200  routers out in the field. They work fine except now we want to enable SNMP to  monitor bandwidth usage with PRTG Network Monitor. I’m having a problem with a few of these getting SNMP  to work properly.
I’ve configured all the devices  exactly the same, however some of them will not display the Ethernet sensors to  monitor bandwidth properly.
I believe we have the latest  firmware installed (v1.1.7).
I’ve done some onsite testing with  an SNMP tester and the results are the same.
Do you have any suggestions on how I  can proceed?
    Thank  you,
    John

Do you have problems with web browsing or other online applications? If not, the problem may lie with the games themselves. It's possible the games require ports to be forwarded to work correctly. Check the game documentation and see if this is the case.

  • Some problems with snmp catalyst monitoring (sensor values)

    Good day for all.
Recently in our company was installed some snmp monitoring tool, so now I try to configure it to collect some OID's information.
Now i have some bewilderment on some OIS's values:
    1. cswSwitchPowerBudget that's OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.500.1.2.1.1.9. On all Cisco devices (C3750-X,C2950,C2960) that monitored now it's value is correct and equal 230V, but we have one stack of C2960S and it's value is 0!
    2. monitoring of entitySensorMIB get some unclear results, so on all C3750-X the amper sensor show value of 60, but on one of them value is 80. This problemable switch is not stacked and haven't high load and no PoE. Also noise sensors on two C3750-X show over 40dBm, but when i go into rooms they are placed i hear that noice is very low.

  • Satellite L505-S5966 - problem with wireless driver after switching to windows 7

    Hi,
I got this laptop in July operating under Vista. I had some problems then with getting my wireless driver to boot properly so it would pick up wireless networks and connect. This seemed like a common problem and I was able to find the solution here and fix it. I switched over to Windows 7 this month, and since then my wireless driver has stopped working again. I guess the driver doesn't boot - it won't pick up wireless, and sometimes when I look it seems like the wireless driver doesn't even exist.
Can anyone offer me a solution? I'm getting very frustrated.

  • Problem with application modules and switching from 2 tier to 3 tier mode

    Hello,
I've got an application in 2 tier mode. Now I wanted to switch to 3 tier mode but get a class cast exception. It has turned out, that panelBinding.getApplication().getApplicationModule().findApplicationModule returns in 2 tier mode <ModuleName>Impl and in 3 tier mode oracle.jbo.client.remote.ApplicationModuleImpl. But searching for modul name with panelBinding.getApplication().getApplicationModule().getApplicationModuleNames() returns the right in names in 2 tier and in 3 tier mode. Does anybody know a way to access <ModulName>Impl in 3 tier mode?

This is the reason that the BC4J project will create an <appmodulename>AM interface and a <appmodulename>AMClient Implementation that you include on the client side if you expose any methods in your app module. You should access them by casting it to the interface, NOT the appModuleImpl class. If you stick to using the interface, then you should be fine.
So to keep your implementation flexible, you should do this on the client to access your custom methods on your app module:
The BC4J project should generate the following classes:
    AppModule Name = MyCustomAM.xml
    AppModule Implementation = MyCustomAMImpl.java
    Custom AppModule Interface = /common/MyCustomAM.java
Custom clientside AppModule Implementation = /client/MyCustomAMClient.java
On the client, do the following:
    import my.bc4j.model.package.common.MyCustomAM;
// Call custom method on App module
      MyCustomAM am = (MyCustomAM) panelBinding.getDataControl().getApplicationModule();
      am.myCustomMethod(someParams);Hope this helps.

  • Problems with SNMP examples in WL documentation

I am using WL 5.1 on NT. Tried to follow SNMP use examples shown in WL
documentaion. Command line examples refuse to work- I either get an
error that ...Remote Host Unknown... or ...Errored Object ID...
    1. after many iterrations launched SNMP agent with the following
    command-
    java webloghic.SNMPAgent -serverURLs localhost
    with password of WL administrator=weblogic
agents reports that initialization was completed
    2. Documentation examples do not seem to work.
    3. I presume that snmp.mycompany.com reference is an error,
    snmp.weblogic.com is probably correct (?)
Can anyone suggest how to make this thing work It's driving me nuts :-)
    Thanks,

The serverURLs value doesn't seem right, see below .... (this is the URL
used by the agent to connect to the managed WLS server)
You should try the following commandline as in
    http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/admindocs/snmpagent.html
    " java weblogic.SNMPAgent
    -password foo
    -serverURLs t3://dns_host_name:7001 "
where 'foo' is the 'system' password, and after replacing appropriate values
    for your setup.
Also, if you prefer you can use - startSNMPAgent.cmd /sh which is in
<install_dir>/weblogic, after filling in the blanks.

  • Problems with my mail since switch to chrome

I don't know that they are related but who knows.  I posted a similar question a few days ago and didn't receive any answers and I'm still having problems.
    I have these emails:
    comcast.net
    3 google
    1 me.com
they all go off line and won't come back on except for the me.com.  It is the only one I can send with.  I can receive mail at all of them but if I try  to send with any of the other servers they say offline and never go back on.
Yesterday I deleted all of the accounts and redid them and they worked fine - yesterday.  But I shut down and again this morning they are all off line and I can't get them back on.
I deleted them again and now I can't get the Comcast one to automatiacally load up in mail.  I try to set it up and it says it can't find it.  According to Comcast everything on their end is working fine and again I can receive mail but not send.
I stopped using Safari a few days ago and downloaded Chrome and this is when the problems started.
    Any ideas at all?
    Susan

Don't know if this is the same problem, but may give a clue?
I am with Blueyonder (Virgin) and I have 5 email mailboxes for my primary email account, but only 3 are active and set up. Suddenly two of those accounts stopped working last Friday (went grey and can't access), but one of them was, and is still fine!? I emailed Virgin, but got no response from them. So I rang today, but they said if I could access my web mail then the problem wasn't with them.
After some considerable experimentation, I discovered the following. Go into Selfcare on the Virgin site, and access your email account. It said that one of my mailboxes could not be deleted because it was the same account name as my Blueyonder web site space (which I don't use). It said if I change the name of my web site, giving a link to it, I could then delete that email account. When you click on the link to change your web site name, you're presented with a drop-down menu to simply select one of your other email accounts (if you don't have one, create another one!).
Now I have no desire to delete that email account, but I discovered the email account that shares the same name as the website, does NOT work! So after I chose a web site name from an email account I don't use, the original email starting working (had to quit mail and restart before it did though!).
That's all rather bizarre I know, but it worked and indicates it was something going on at Virgin and not at my end!?
Anyway, hope that may help some of you.
I did also make some changes/additions to the Mail server list in the Preferences, but you can find that on another post I made here today if that's useful.
