Problems with Sound Blaster PCI 128 at Wi

Hello,
I've a Sound Blaster PCI 28 Sound Card from Creative. I never had any problems with it when I was using it at WinME. But now I had to install WinXP Prof (incl. SP + SP2) for using some new programs and the soundcard doesn't work at all there.
The card is shown at the device manager at "Other/Unkown devices" as "Audio Controller for Multimedia". I downloaded some drivers from the archi've of the creative homepage witch were said to be for this card used at WinXp. Here are the links for this drivers:

But none of this drivers can be installed. When I start the installation after some time of loading there appears an alert with says:
"Setup wasn't able to find a Sound Blaster Audiocard on your system. Please make sure that your Soundblaster hardware is installed correctly before starting the setup. Setup will finish/exit now."
Does anyone know how to get this card running on WinXp?
Does anyone know some alterati've drivers witch could be suitable for this card and WinXP?

Go back to the download link and download the Waveset file. After which, follow the steps from this Knowledgebase article SID930 to install the waveset.

I have a SB LIVE! 5. DIGITAL. My Windows XP SP2 detects my sound card but he dont know what card is, and i make a download of the lastest driver and he says: YOU DONT HAVE A SOUND BLASTER CARD>
I dont understand what happend, on Windows 98 works well, isn?t a problem with my sound card.

Did this card come preinstalled in your system? If so this may be an OEM model and you will need to contact the company you purchased your computer from for drivers for it. If this is not the case you may try moving the card to a different PCI slot and trying the install from there.

Problems with Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 and a freshly reformatted windows 98se

Hello.
Lets get right down to business shall we? I've recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled the somewhat outdated OS windows 98 second edition. I've only recently managed to get my network card and modem working with my refreshed machine again but now I'm having problems getting my sound card (Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Digital) working again too. Its as if the computer CAN'T recognize the fact that there is a sound card inserted into the port. What do I do?

Try the card in another PCI slot to see if it will pick it up then.
Which model is this exactly (like Li've 5. Player, Li've 5. Digital, or another)? Do you know which model number is printed on the card?
It's possible the card doesn't have Windows98 support, newer cards do not support that Operating System so it may not have drivers on the CD for that OS.

I have a problem with the sound card the system cant detect the sound card.i have tried to acess the device manager and the sound card wasnt detected. the sound card is correctly installed.

Note- when i tried to connect the speakers to the sound card, the system crashed and i restart the computer, after this ,the sound card isnt detected, i think before, the sound card was detected, because the icon of the drivers appeared, but the device manager never detected the sound card, please help me.

Here's a link on how to use Add/Remove software in Control Panel. After removing the software, remove the soundcard from the computer and reboot. If that boot has no problems, then put the soundcard back in the same slot or a different slot and reinstall.

I know the "!" next to Multimedia audio device isnt the problem because that was there before i reformated when the sound worked.
Ive Downloaded both:
Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG)
and
Li'veDrvPack_Patch
(Not 00% sure either of these drivers are the right thing for me sense when i type my model number into the driver search box it can't find it for some reason.)
I always get an error message that says "Setup cannot detect sound blaster audio device on your system.
Ive tried using Ctcomp with no luck
Does anyone have any idea on how to get my sound card to work?

You don't say what drivers your using.

I think to loose that message, you may have to either edit the registry of use something like driver cleaner http://www.drivercleaner.net/

5.1 problems with Sound Blaster L

Hello all!
I am having problems with my new 5. setup. I have the Logitech X-530 5. system with 5 satellites (Front: L/R/C, Rear: L/R) and what I believe is a Sound Blaster Li've! 5. card. The model number on the card is CT4780 and it has fi've ports on the back (plus MIDI).
I connected the ports by color and only the Front L/R and sub work. I unplugged Black/Orange, and everything still works. I swapped the orange/black, still nothing. I updated the Windows profile to be 5. surround instead of 2 speakers, that doesn't work. I updated the Creative Labs drivers, that didn't do anything.
I am only getting sound from Front L/R and sub, nothing from Center and Rear R/L. All the connections are secure and in their correct places. I have rebooted 0 times, that didn't do anything.
I am totally lost. Does anyone have any pointers?
[edit]: I am trying to get the sound out of Winamp. I have "Hardware Acceleration" on and have tried everything. The DirectSound plugin shows that only two channels are being used.

Problems With Sound Blaster Audigy: New Sys

I just received my new computer from Dell:
Pentium D 3.0ghz
Geforce 7800 GTX 256mb
2 GIGs ram
Windows Xp Prof x64
SoundBlaster Audigy
My problem occurs in my game called Nascar Racing 2003 Season. The sounds play fine, however when It comes time to load more 3dimensional sounds (like cockpit), the sounds turn into a high pitched buzz, and then freezes my computer so that not even ctl-alt-del works. Sometimes this happens when exiting the game as well, and my system does a complete memory dump and then shows this file: ctoss2k.sys..
I've reinstalled the drivers, the game, and I'm out of ideas. I don't have any other games to test this one, but I've run the Dell diagnostics and run the dxdiag for the sound and it passed with flying colors. If nothing can be done here my next idea is getting on the phone with Dell and having them fix my new computer!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Problems with sound blaster live 24 b

Hello,
I have some problems with my sound because i'm using a 5. configuration of speakers it works perfectly but if i put my PC on hibernate for example, when i turn it on the configuration changes an the program put the confguration on hearphones and so the sound is very bad. I don't know why it changes alone.
I have a sound card Sound Blaster li've 24 Bits.
Could somebody help me?

Your post isn't very clear. When you come out of Hibernate, is the configuration wrong? Or doesn't 5. work then?
Can you provide some more detail on what exactly happens, and also what kind of system (PC) you have.

Problems with Sound Blaster Live! 1024 and Windows 2000 Profession

Hello everybody, and thank you since now for your help and support.
Please, forgive my english (I'm italian) not so good, but I hope you can understand me the same.
I have a Sound Blaster Li've! 024, and so far everything works fine with Windows 98 SE, but lately I have installed Windows 2000 Professional on my PC, and now nothing works.
Nothing, neither the softwares, they don't even start!
Here is what I tried so far:
- First, I tried to install the old version of the programs, the ones that I had in the CD-ROM when I bought the sound card. At this point, I couldn't even uninstall the softwares!
- Then, I tried to update the drivers, but it seems that they're already updated when you install Win2000, and the uninstallation didn't works yet.
- At last, I have downloaded the new software pack, Li'veDrvUni-Pack.exe, but nothing even so. But with this, at least, I was able to uninstall everything from the PC (even if not perfectly).
- Today, I tried to install only the new pack, Li'veDrvUni-Pack.exe, but still nothing works. When I start running the program (e.g. AudioHQ), I can see the hourglass for few seconds and then everything aborts.
Please, help me! What can I do? I really don't want to buy a new sound card, even because my SB Li've! 024 works perfectly until now.

i have Sound Blaster Li've! 024 , and Vista, and sound is totaly s*it or not working.. but, you can install drivers from Russians and all will work fine with good quality!

Problems With Sound Blaster Audigy 2

The Problem that I'm having is this:
Every time that i bring up the volume console to do whatever, once i move the mouse cursor into the window, my computer either restarts or locks up. Now I have tried over and over again to update all drivers and software for this sound card. Even thinking that it might be a compatibility issue with other cards (video, wireless) i updated their drivers as well. Doing so made me run into other problems, like opening up office Word, just locks up. I never had these problems before at all until i installed this sound card. Now, the card works perfectly! Sound comes out in all respecti've ports and microphone and line in works as well. Its the software that I cant seem to use. I just don't understand why, this is a brand new card with its own software. But to add lastly to this, I formatted hard dri've, installed Windows XP home, then immediately afterwards i installed the drivers and software for the sound card and it worked like nothing was wrong at all, software and all. But once i installed my video drivers and software, either the sound card software didn't work or the operating system would lock up right after the splash load screen. Please, can someone let me know anything that i can do to fix this problem! It's been very bothersome and annoying as all! Thank You.

Alright, I once again formatted the hard dri've. This is what i've done:
Windows XP Home w/SP
All Motherboard Drivers
Disabled On-Board Sound
Installed Audigy 2 ZS Drivers and Software
Removed Wireless Card and Video Capture card
And all Windows OS updates
Direct X 9.0c
But what i haven't done yet is installed the drivers and software for the video card. I have a ATI 9800 XT 256mb AGP card, getting updated drivers for the card is not a problem. But I also didn't install service pack 2 yet either. im trying to figure what is really causing the problem now. But as of now, the sound card and software is working properly. thats pretty much where i stand now, so if there is anyone out there that might now what i can do from here, or what should i NOT do, please let me know!

A few problems with Sound Blaster LI

I recently purchased this card (Soundblaster Li've! 24-bit) and i cant figure out how to get it to work correctly... I am using the Battlefield 2 headset (made by logitech i think) for Teamspeak and the only way i can get the mircrophone to work is by having the EAX console opened up with Karaoke enabled. If I disable it my microphone stops working, or if I deselect the "Microphone effects" box it stops working...also in Battlefield 942 (not sure about BF2) some of the sounds are excelent and some of the sounds (like when your driving a tank/jeep) sound like a garbage disposal with a fork in it... I have messed with the in-game sound settings and the main sound settings/properties under windows. I have updated the drivers for it to the more recent ones but still no difference... I have also uninstalled all the drivers and reinstalled them but still no luck... I have disabled my onboard sound.
I am running windows XP on a P4 2.4 gig with a Asock motherboard

P.S. also is there a way i can, well lets say have my headphones with microphone and my regular 2. speakers plugged in at the same time? and just have some type of program to switch between the two? this is the least of my worries i just want it to work correctly!

well i got the sound quality way up by uninstalling and reinstalling just the most recent driver(not the one on the cd) and that made a world of difference on sound quality but now my mic doesnt work! anyone know how to get the mic to work without installing all that extra EAX crap?

Are there error messages coming out?
Which operating system are you using?
NOTE: Samplerate and bit-depth for ASIO in Audigy series cards is fixed to 6-bit/48kHz (and 24-bit/96kHz). If your 'project' is set for 44.kHz, it's possible that you can't get it started.
If you can't get the software started because of ASIO error then, you could try
- temporarily rename ctasio.dll (this file can be found under Windows\System32\) so the software/system can't find it anymore
- install asio4all driver which supports all samplerates your card is able to ( http://www.asio4all.com )

Sound Blaster Live 24-bit PCI Sound Card and Creative Sound Blaster PCI Card not detect

Ok here is my problem. I bought a Creative Sound Blaster PCI sound card a while back and it was working fine but recently when I would boot up my computer and try to play music say off of Winamp it says Bad DirectSound Driver. When I check device manager it shows no sound card there and in sounds and audio devices it says no audio device. Now my brother believed this to be a card fault so we went to Frys and bought a Sound Blaster Li've 24-bit PCI card. I uninstalled the old drivers and installed this new one but yet it's the same problem. My assumption was that Windows XP had something conflicting so I reinstalled the OS. It found the card and I installed the latest drivers?off of this site but now it does the same thing yet again with a fresh install of Windows XP. The card has been in all 3 of my PCI slots and it will detect it for a moment but then acts like as if the card was never installed. Like I never installed a sound card into the computer. The onboard audio has been disabled for a while now but I do not know what the problem could be. I did Scan for hardware changes but it doesn't show up. Sometimes when the card is detected if I do scan for hardware changes and the card is there it will just magically disappear from the device manager as if it was never there. Even when I try to load music and I see the card is detected it will not play the music and ends up locking up Winamp to the point that sometimes will go BSOD. Now I would really like to find out what the issue is because I am planning this weekend to swap out my motherboard with a duplicate board to see if that will end up fixing the problem but I want to find out if there is any other way to fix this issue. Hmm what other options is there for the bios on PCI slots?Also anything you connect to the motherboard can have oxidization (I think its that) build up on the connection. Check the connector on the card and get a eraser (Pen eraser is better) and give it a good cleaning. The connector might have alot of build-up on it and you can see it by a dark yellowy colour. I cleaned my graphics card and ram connectors after they got alot of the build-up on them. On a older computer my graphics stopped working and this fixed it. Also I went away for a while (like a month) and came back to see that my puter didn't display anything. Opened it up and saw that the graphic card had alot of corrosion? on the card connector and in the slot. Does that if you computer is turned of for a long time. Had a heck of time trying to clean the slot out. One other thing that it could be is the sound card is faulty. I had an audigy 2 and it died a while back . It picks it up and then try and use it computer freezes and the after restart it's not there anymore. Hope it's not that problem. Hope this gives you something to go by.

Sound Blaster PCI causes Windows 98SE to hang at boot

ASUS P5VD-X motherboard, PentiumD805, GB RAM, 250GBHD, Win98 and XP Dual Boot, Ati Radeon 256 8x AGP.
Hi. After installing the standard old Sound blaster PCI card under Win98SE with the drivers disc and rebooting PC, Win 98 just hangs at the boot screen. I can still get into safe mode and have tried uninstalling [url="http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/6989.html#" target="_new">[color="green">Sound Blaster[/url] PCI from add remove programs but unfortunately still cant get [url="http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/6989.html#" target="_new">[color="green">win98[/url] to load normally. I have the onboard SoundMAX audio which is still enabled in bios and?its drivers?installed on win98 so i guess i could use that instead of Sound Blaster if i could boot normally into win98. The [url="http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/6989.html#" target="_new">[color="green">Sound blaster card[/url] is now removed from [url="http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/6989.html#" target="_new">[color="green">motherboard[/url] but win98 still hangs on boot up.
When i installed the SBPCI drivers disc and before i rebooted win98 before the crash i noticed that it placed windows media player icons on desktop. I have also tried uninstalling media player.
Interestingly i cant even get the bootlog option or command prompt to work at all it just freezes even though safe mode and safe mode command prompt only work.
I have tried restoring the registry with scanreg/restore to a week ago when there were no boot up problems. This however has still not resolved the boot up hang as soon as windows 98 logo appears.
Can anyone help?

A bunch of things are probably conflicting. The Creative cd seems to have installed WMP7 (later cd's might do that.)? Or possibly a version of WMP6. Your SoundMAX driver is conflicting with the Creative driver. 98 doesn't play well with 2 soundcards. You should have uninstalled the SoundMAX, deactivated it in the BIOS, then installed the Creative card and drivers. 98 can be trashed easily by this kind of thing. I would format (have all your drivers and program setup files saved to a cdr and remove all hardware except for keyboard, mouse and videocard) and install Windows. Install?all the optional Windows components you want from Add/Remove Windows Components tab and the Plus 98!?software if you have it. Then use the packages such as the Unofficial 98SE Service Pack and the Autopatcher Alpha .6 for Windows 98SE on msfn.org Windows 98SE Service Pack forum to update your system. That Autopatcher contains just about all the updates and the Service Pack (installed first) contains?some nice registry tweaks, 256 color tray icons, Windows 2000 color scheme,?nicer desktop icons, a cleaner Dialup Networking .4 install than Microsoft gives you, etc. Then install your hardware and drivers. Have your on board audio disabled in the BIOS from the start if you want to install a Creative card instead.
