Problems with sound button iPad mini retina

Dear all,
Have experienced a problem, sound on/off trigger somehow works automatically without touching it. This makes the display turn on/off an consumes battery. Don't know what to do. Video attached http://youtu.be/bns-0LN8d3o

Hey Daxon007,
Thanks for the question and the video, which was very helpful.
To isolate this issue, let’s try restarting/resetting your iPad mini:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the issue persists after a restart/reset, try restoring your iPad with iTunes to isolate to hardware:
Choosing an iOS backup method (Should I use iTunes or iCloud to back up my iOS device?)

Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Hy, I have a problem with a new iPad Mini.

Hy, I have a problem with a new iPad Mini.
When I try to use the cameras, it doesn't work.
I get to take 3-4 pictures and after that all I see is the shutter.
It happends even if just start the camera app, or the facetime app, after 4-5s.
I've reinstalled IOS 6.1 but nothing changed.
It is a new ipad. What can I do?

Ok, Orange Romania changed my iPad mini but now I have another problem.
I bought the iPad mini on 01/feb/2013, took it to service on 06/feb/2013, and got another ipad mini on 12/feb/2013.
But the new ipad mini keeps requesting the password for some user [email protected], and it does it from the first day of activation. This is suspect for me, so I checked it's serial with selfsolve.apple.com and it shows "Estimated Expiration Date: January 31, 2014" and since it has one year free service I am worried the iPad mini wasn't new.
    Please help.

  • Problems with Camera on IPAD Mini

New Ipad mini.  Not able to switch camera to back.  It only shows on the front then it freezes.  I am also having problems with the number 1.  All other numbers are working except no. 1.   I have restored to factory settings and am still having the same problem.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Problems with my new iPad Mini

My iPad Mini shuts off randomly and reboots, now it won't turn on at all, and when we bought it, it had a defective front facing camera. What do I do? Can I bring it in and get a new one? Right now the iPad turns on, but shuts off during the process of rebooting, the repeats the process again. What do I do??

  • Problem with sound buttons on keyboard since upgrading

Since my upgrade to Mavericks the sound buttons on my keyboard F10,11,12  no longer work. When I press the buttons to either increase or decrease sound, the page I am on disappears from the screen and the mute button diminishes the page but there is no change to the sound.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply.  I tried your suggestion but I came across this sentence:
OS X does not store network settings in NVRAM / PRAM. If you are troubleshooting a network issue, resetting it will not help.
I am not very technical, I did try some options but I am afraid I couldn't get it to work. :-(

  • IPad mini retina heating problem

My iPad gets really hot, if I play games and adjust brightness to full.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I bought iPad mini retina today and I noticed its heating up and battery draining very fast at 20% in less than an hour.
I called cust support and the guy asked me to upgrade to iOS 7.0.6 from 7.0.4.
Looks like he just passed time. I'm going to return this failure thing tomorrow.
I'm shocked why Apple doesn't test it'd OS n products properly.

  • Problem with 7.0.4 update on iPad Mini Retina

    Hello,
I just got my iPad Mini Retina today and after setting up the iPad I get a message that a new OS update 7.0.4 is available for the iPad so I accept and go with the update. But the Apple device is rebooting and is not finishing the update.
All I see is the Apple logo with a thin gray bar underneath indicating the update but nothing happens. It has been like this for the last half hour.
Is this a know issue? How do I get the device to boot again?
    Thanks
    Gopinath

Sorry, I called Apple Support and they asked me to do a hard reboot and it just booted. The hard reboot is to press and hold the home button and and on/off button at the top.
This rebooted the ipad and also had the updated ios 7.0.4.
The support person said sometimes the wifi connectivity could cause a problem with reboot after an OS update.
    Thanks

  • Does anyone have battery problems with iPad mini retina?

I am noticing that there may be an issue with my iPad Mini Retina battery.
I will put to charge at night and in the morning it will say it is at 23% when I actually unplug it
it changes to 100 or 93%.
Is this happening to anyone else.
Could it be I use it too much???
It is only 1 year old.

The same thing happened to me. I think what happens is that the OS update starts ALL of your apps running in the background and burns through th battery....
I don't see that as causing the issue though.  Plain fact is that only a very few apps can truly RUN in the background (i.e. execute some task, like playing music).  Most apps in the recent tasks bar are suspended (similar to a UNIX halt state), not running, since the iOS only supports a very limited sort of multitasking and most apps do not have any code that can, in fact, run in the background.
So, for those experiencing the reduced battery life, I think something else must be happening, although I don't know what since my battery life has been excellent with all the upgrades.  Just saying that I'd suspect some other cause for those with the problem.

  • The maximum SOUND level is low on iPad mini retina, compared to an iPhone 4s. Research shows this is a common problem for this model around the world. Has anyone succeeded in solving this issue? Many Thanks, Peter.

  • IPad Mini retina - lots of problems with iOS8

My iPad Mini Retina, which was working flawlessly for the past year, has now started giving trouble after I updated to iOS 8. It reboots every once in a while, after a brief bluish screen (reminds me of the dreaded Windows blue screen of death). This is not linked to any specific app, and happens very very frequently. Besides, many times the iPad freezes for a short while, sometimes the mutitasking gestures don't work... These minor irritants are driving me mad. Make me wonder if Apple has been hasty in releasing iOS8 without adequate testing and debugging. This is persisting despite updating to iOS 8.0.2. Hope Apple finds a fix for this soonest.

    Hi aggi74,
If you are having issues with unexpected restarts and freezes, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

my ipad mini retina display is disabled because my blue tooth key board made number key entries while in my back pack.   How do I re-enable?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
