Problems with SubMenus
Hi all...
I have a Menu called ActionEvents which has a JMenu called mouseEvents. What I want is to add a submenu to this (mouseEvents), I tried the following:
mouseEvents.add(new JMenuItem("New Item"));This compiles fine but doesnt show up on the application. However if I add another JMenu to ActionEvents e.g submenu as below, it adds the submenuItem to submenu.
JMenu submenu = new JMenu("submenu");
eventsMenu.add(submenu);
submenu.add(new JMenuItem("submenuItem"));Works fine for submenu but not mouseEvents.
Does any one have any ideas?
Thanks for any assiatance...
Maybe I should take this to the bug report forum, but I was wondering if it might not be me. I'm pretty sure it isn't, but it is such a big problem I can't believe it would have not been caught and fixed before.
BTW, there is no problem with implementing submenus in AWT.

Having problems with submenus displaying on MenuBar
I've been inserted the MenuBar several times and have no problem with the main menus, but the submenus will not display. They show up in the property box, but not on the page. Any ideas?
Thank you for posting the link, this saves us a lot of time.
When I try to find
<script src="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
or
<link href="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
I get an Error 404-Not Found message.
This simply means that you have either not uploaded the files or uploaded them to the wrong ditectory.

Problem with submenus appearing
I created a child page and asked it NOT be listed in submenus thru page's menu options. But it still comes up in submeunus. Oddly it comes and goes on main menu but is always there are as a submenu on the child page. How can I prevent the page from showing up in submenus?
This is beyond the scope of Muse currently. At this point we are focused on design that involves no code, while this is quite code heavy.
Putting that aside, as a coder, not as someone on the Muse team, here is what I personally would do: do not consider this Muse support, just tips from someone who knows some code.
- Right click the page that has the table you want and choose 'view source'
- Copy all of this code and paste it into your preferred text editor. Notepad works fine.
- Leave the original source window open so you can see the line numbers
- Delete all code that has to do with menu and instruction:
- Lines 73 - 106, the div titled "header"
- Lines 109 - 113, the div titled "menu"
- Lines 127 - 129, the instruction text
- Lines 801 - 803, the div titled "footer"
- Lines 804 - 807, the div titled "copyright"
After those are deleted, copy and paste all the code into your Muse page. you will see it appear in Muse and it should function properly when you preview. if it looks weird it is because there is a related .css file that needs to be in a specific location. It looks like copying your ajax folder to the same folder this page is in may do the trick, but I'm not sure of the exact location it needs to be in, you may have to experiment with different locations.
This may take some trial and error beyond the instructions here. To make adjustments to the code from within Muse, right click the form and choose HTML. This will give you the chance to edit the code further to more closely achieve the result you need. -
I use an iMac 27" (mid 2011). Until recently I had OSX 10.6.8 installed, but both, the HDD and SSD had to be replaced, and I lost all the memory.
After the repair through Apple Care I had OSX 10.7.5. (Lion) installed, which developed a Magic Mouse problem.
Unlike with most users, I have no problems with connection, but grapple with a different kind of erratic behaviour.
All fancy stuff is turned off in the mouse preferences. When I try to move, open or close pages, unrelated submenus pop up and hinder the
required task. No matter how often I click, these menus stay there, and they even come up when clicking on the bare desktop.
It renders the mouse absolutely useless, as no work can be done with it.
The first 'Magic Mouse' had depleted batteries every few days, despite switching it off after use.
I was supplied a new Mouse, which does better battery-wise, but the problems are the same. I can't get a result by clicking on any link, due to
the pop-up menus, so both 'Magic Mice' are totally useless.
At present I am using the old USB mouse from my Mac Pro, and that works still o.k.
The problem are not the mice, but the software. The first 2 weeks after installation of OSX 10.7.5 the Magic Mouse worked though.
I have no idea as to what the reason may be.
Has anyone in the community ever experienced that particular problem. Any hint would be welcomed.
Thank you!Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
Thanks for the advice, Bee

Spry menu problems with Internet explorer
Hi everyone
I'm having ongoing problems with my horizontal menus and
internet explorer. They work fine in other browsers and with the
generous help of others at these forums I've managed to sort out
most of the problems. But I've hit a real wall with this one. The
menus drop down showing the links OK but you cannot highlight or
click on the options that drop down, they just appear as text. Any
help would be appretiated. My appologies for posting in other
threads also but just hoping for a response.
I am very new to this side of design so simple answers would
be very helpful. Thanks
BobI have 2 similar problems to the prior posts:
1) I run IE7 and FF and the positioning of my submenus are
skewed in IE only.
2) I am not sure, but I believe I have a problem with my
iframe appearing in my IE7 browser behind all of my submenus. Well,
I know I have a problem with something, but whether or not it's the
iframe I don't know. What I do know is that the box shows up like a
border around my submenus and I can't get rid of it. I suspect that
it may be caused by the fact that my menu buttons are imported
gif's in the shape of rounded rectangles which allows for the
corners to be visible. I actually just thought about it and my
gif's are set to have a white index transparency, but maybe If I
export the gifs without transparency, then that issue will be
resolved. Well I will try that part and see, but any and all
suggestions are welcome. Oh and I just remembered, that problem
with the border around my submenus also has another problem with
the word "false" inside of that border behind my submenus. This
problem again is only in my IE browser, and it is hard to see it,
but I have no idea why that is there or what it's from. I ran a
search in my SpryMenuHorizontal.css page and in my html page for
the word 'false' but nothing turned up. The only document related
to this issue that contains the word 'false' is the
'SpryMenuBar.js' document.

Problem with Horizontal Spry Menu
Hi,
I have trawled through the forum to see if I can find an answer to my problem, but couldnt locate one, so this is my first post.
I recently built this website for my wifes business and was using a simple menu bar without any dropdowns, just to get the site up and running (healingthreads.com.au). Am now looking to do some enhancements and was looking to use a Spry Horizontal Menu Bar. All was going well in that I was able to insert the menu bar and get it in the right position, however the dropdowns below the top level items (ie. Item 1.1, Item 1.2 etc) are getting hidden behind one of the other DIV's and despite trying changing z-index values, am still not able to get the dropdowns to display in front of the main DIV. Have run out of ideas and am hoping the wisdom of the forum will be able to assist. I have the same problem on the Index page as well as the other pages on the site. The website is fairly basic at the moment and is simply promoting her courses and products.
Unfortunately am not able to post live code to a server for you to test on, so best that I can do is post the code for a page and for the CSS sheets. I have left the standard Spry code in place in the source code to show that the problem exists without and fancy changes that I have made to the Spry code. I have also removed the z-index properties that I had been playing around with. So, what I am attaching is the basic code that has the problem.
Hope someone can help.

Thanks for the prompt reply, greatly appreciated here in Sydney.
Re your response. When I preview the page in both Safari and Firefox, the dropdowns are not visible, just the top layer Items.
Dont understrand what is going on.
Am I doing something wrong when I am previewing the file?

Problem with the PUT operation some files won't transfer help please
Hi everyone,
I am using DWCS3 on OS X Leoard 10.5 and MAMP
I am putting together a basic index.html page and then I want to template it. Pretty basic stuff.
However when I want to view the index.html page in my MAMP testing server, In the middle of the PUT operation I get a message saying;
File activity incomplete 1 file or folder was not completed.
index.html - Put operation successful

I am aware that files are not transferring over to the testing server but I don't understand why or how to fix the problem. I don't think the problem lies with the path from Dreamweaver to the testing server because I have been working on the page and viewing it in the testing server. It's only just started displaying the message above and not passing some of the files over. It will for example pass the index.css page over.
I have copied the code over for index.html, SpryMenuBar.js, SpryMenuBarHorizontal.ccs and SpryMenuBarVertical.css.
In the hope that someone will not mind taking a look at this for me.

Taking that call changed his life forever; because it ended up with the 59-year-old grandfather with no previous convictions to his name being found guilty of drug smuggling. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison. This website is devoted to showing how the Crown Prosecution Service conspired to put an innocent man behind bars, and once they did set about siezing the fruits of nearly four decades of hard work.</p>

Other than that, I could only guess that it may have something else to do with the web server configuration and not DW. -

The website is http://wwww.bataviabulldogfootball.tkNote that running your page through the W3C Validator gives this list of errors: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bataviabulldogfootball.tk%2F&charset=%2 8detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
I see that you have a very thin doctype at the top. I suggest you create a new page in Dreamweaver and copy the bit at the top of the page:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
Then put that code in place of these lines from your current page:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8" />
I see that you have two opening <body> tags. Delete one; it is not needed. Add the preload images from the second into the first body tag and delete the second.
I see code below the closing </html> tag. Re position it before the closing </body> tag.
Because of these errors mentioned above, it was impossible to see the page. Fix and reply here when you have done so.
Also, it is not possible for me to divine what difficulty you are having. If you can please also express it in English (LOL), I'll be happy to suggest a correction for you!
Beth
p.s. Posting entire blocks of code is NEVER as helpful as giving us a link to the pages in action. I seldom read through code dumps here in the Forum.

Problem with contextual menus after 10.9.3 update
Hello, since the update to 10.9.3 i am experiencing problems with contextual menus. The problem is more frequent when I use an external screen.
First problem: I am losing the icons in the top bar of the finder. This happens mostly on external screens.
Second problem: The arrows indicating submenus upon a right click are lost. This problem is also present when I use the internal screen of my Macbook.
Sometimes, the icons in the left menu bar of the finder are also lost (mostly Dropbox):
Is there anything I can do? Is this a known problem?
My current system:
Macbook Pro Retina 13" (late 2013)
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
8 Gb Ram
Intel Iris
Thanks!Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -
[CS3 - JS - Mac] Problem with encoding
Hi,
I made a script that perform a lot of actions on ID.
Everytime this script performs an action it writes a line on a global variable and at the end of the script write this var into a text file ( in the Document folder).
Yes, it's a log file...
While I was testing this script through the Toolkit everything went right.
Then I added a menu action inside the script to call the script from the application and something strange happened, in the log file (wich is a text file UTF8 encoding) and also in the alerts ID shows. Both display text from this:
"È necessario effettuare una selezione" (running the script from the toolkit)
to this:
"È necessario effettuare una selezione" (running the script from ID menu)
So I think it's an encoding problem...
I just added this code:
#targetengine "Lele";
var Lele_menu = app.menus.item("Main").submenus.add("Lele");
// Menu
var main_action = app.scriptMenuActions.add("Update");
var main_event_listener = main_action.eventListeners.add("onInvoke", function(){main();});
var main_menu = Lele_menu.menuItems.add(main_action);
// Functions
What's the point?
Hope you understood.
Thanks!
LeleI had problems with UTF encoding so I use this function to write the log file:
var log_file = new File(file_path);
log_file.encoding = "UTF8";
log_file.lineFeed = "unix";
log_file.open("w");
log_file.write("\uFEFF" + text_var);
log_file.close();
Where text_var is the log string.
When it's written form the ESTK everything is right, when called from the menu it isn't.
It's strange that it also involves alert text innit? -
Problem with the Value property node (MacOS)
As far as I have tested it, Value Property nodes (and Value (signaling)) don't work in MacOS : The value property appears as a boolean, the value(signaling) as a cluster (width, height).
Even with boolean controls, the node is not working.
No such problem in LV 8.6.
Am-I missing something ? Is that some "intended use" ? Or simply a bug ?
Chilly Charly (aka CC)
E-List Master - Kudos glutton - Press the yellow button on the left...
Solved!
Go to Solution.That sounds like some sort of indexing problem with the property nodes like somesort of corrupted installation. What if you just delete the property node and recreate it?
I dropped a numeric control and looked at the shortcut menu for the list of property nodes. Right below Value and Value (signalling) are Visible (which would be a boolean) and Xcontrol, which when you step down through the submenus, the first choice is Container bounds, a cluster of Width and Height. So these 2 datatypes that are 2 lower on the list match the ones you are getting.
What happens if you pick another property node a few elements up or down on the shortcut menu? Does is happen for some other properties, and if so, are thereany properties that are okay?
Here is what my property nodes look like for a numeric and I draggged the box up and down to show the natural order of the property nodes. Note that I have scripting installed, so there are a few more property nodes (and the blue box at the top) that you might not have.
PS. Check you signature. The Kudos button is now moved to the left since the forum upgrade.

Problems with spry menu bar in IE
Hi.... I'm sorry if this has been covered somewhere, I promise I looked and couldn't find anything. I've been working with Dw for a little over a month now and have generally been able to find whatever I needed. But I've hit a wall: My pages display just fine in Opera, Safari, Firefox.... but in Mac's IE, none of the spry works (loaded from the server) and in Windows IE 7 & 8 the collapsible panels work but for the menu bar, the children menus come down from the top of the page (instead of below the parent). I've tried putting the menu in its own header container and the problem still happens. Nothing I do or can find as patches have helped make the Mac IE work (but from what I hear that's typical....). I am absolutely desperate for help!
The original page is: http://www.tumorvirology.pitt.edu
and a testing with the separate header can be seen at: http://www.tumorvirology.pitt.edu/dev/testsite/test1.html
The css files for the menu bar and panel for the first site is attached below.
Thank you so much for your time and help!
SusanI have this exact same problem. My submenus are dropping down from the top of the screen in IE. I did what you suggested here and it did not work for me. Help! Here is my CSS:

SpryMenuBar, problems with Submenu
Hi, everyone,
I am new to Spry widgets. I am working with CS5.
I have a problem with the only submenu I want to have for this site (in French). Instead of explaining, I attached a grab. My problme is clearly showing: the border of the submenu is offset on the left.
How can I fixed that? I went through all possible styles and could not find anything.
As well, when there are submenus, there generally appear a triangle on the right hand side of my menu to indicate that there is a submenu. How can I disable that?
Thanks a lot for any suggestion!
BrunoFirst off, upgrade to Spry version 1.6.1 as per here.
Then replace the red coloured value to something that suits your menu
ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
list-style-type: none;
font-size: 10px;
font-weight: normal;
z-index: 1020;
cursor: default;
width: 48em;
position: absolute;
left: -1000em;
something like 8em.
Lastly, you have a problem on line 56 of your code which has no relation to Spry.
I hope this helps.
Ben
