Problems with supposed $100 old phone trade-in on iPhone

Folks in-store made a big deal about this.  12 days later, and 4 phone calls to Verizon Wireless and I still haven't gotten the magic e-mail that I need to get to be eligible for the $100.  Either incredibly inept execution, or a scam.

It doesn't have to be incompetence or malevolence. As was stated before, the company didn't get to the position they did in the market by scamming people. Just as much, there isn't enough information to determine that it was "inept execution." Consider: two thousand people out of the 93+ million customers use the promotion and out of that group, one hundred have a problem. This equates to 5% of the partakers, which would hardly mean anything inept. The question, though, would inevitably be "how did I come up with the numbers to show that it is not 'inept execution'?" That is my point. In order to leave the available possibilities at either malevolence or incompetence, too much would need to be known beforehand and this knowledge can only be acquired on the inside, I'm sure. I don't think anyone here has that knowledge, but the small amount of individuals admitting to issues would validate the suspicion that it is not due to "inept execution," but instead due to the old bit of wisdom: things happen.

I suspect I need to update OS, but as software update isn't telling me to do so, can I? What version would I need to go to?

Your MacBook Pro can be updated to run Mac OS X "Snow Leopard". Buy it. That will enable you to run the latest iTunes version.

  • HT201272 Problem with app from old phone to new phone

I had to get a new iPhone 5 and downloaded my existing apps through iCloud. However, one of the apps from my old phone was upgraded and I paid a yearly subscription fee. When I received my new phone and downloaded this upgraded app, my new phone did not recognize my paid subscription and now is prompting me for another upgrade. How do I get this phone to recognize my upgraded app?

back up your old phone using that
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
erase your new phone, by going to settings general reset -erase content and reset all settings
connect to your mac and restore from your back up.
Do not sync contacts, since your mountain lion has contacts of your husband.
Verify, that you use separate icloud accounts. Do not sync anything with itunes (including your apps and music) until you sign in to your own icloud account, after you verify that you have your own contacts on the phone.

I updated my IPhone 3GS to the new 5.1 operating system and have since had a range of problems with not only my phone but also my IPad.
Programs (Safari, mail, messages) keep crashing, mail will not delete properly (some will keep popping into my inbox again for no reason!!!), slow, settings lock up etc. etc.
This only seemed to become an issue once I updated to ios 5.1 and funnily also affected my Ipad even though i hadn't updated the software yet. I have since updated the software on my ipad thinking it might help too but that only made things worse!! So I am not sure if it's an ICloud issue, but when i try to disable ICloud my devices lock up as well.
The battery life is also shocking!!
I have hard reset both devices, restored both devices, reset the setting and tried a whole host of other suggestions (like closing background programs) on this forum buit nothing works and i am tearing my hair out.
I looked in the phone and ipad log and there do seem to be low memory reports though i don't know why these are occuring now when they never have before??
I don't know if I can restore the old operating system (If I can please let me know how). The phone or ipad are not jailbroken.

but you should have a backup in itunes.
Every time you sync your iOS device iTunes creates a backup. go check if its there, iTunes Preferences >Devices. and there you should see if you have a backup, and in case from which date the backup is.
And ofcourse you can get your icloud data back by just logging in with your Appleid under icloud in settings on the iphone.
But anyway, if the iPhone works when you restor it as new: try adding your backup, and see if the issue comes back. And experiment with your backup and try to work out what is causing the issue, my guess is that its some app!   Good Luck!

Hello i have one IPhone 4S and I use 3G net in my mobile sometime I have problem with temperature in my phone at the SIM card or battery how can I fix this problem. By update or version of 6.1.3

Could it be because the SIM card got damaged while I cut it to fit the IPhone?
Very likely. Hard to believe the carrier in Mexico doesn't have a micro-SIM card available.
Or somehow the Chinese carrier found out and locked it?
    No, which is not possible.
What can I do? Get a new SIM and see if it works again?
Get a micro-SIM from the carrier in Mexico that you don't have to manually cut down. If that carrier doesn't provide one, switch to another carrier that is not so low-budget.

  • Problems with a new IP phone 7906 after factory reset

    Hi Guys
I am currently having problems with my new IP phone 7906 after doing factory reset and here is a video of it:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvCLtwIAwVw
I used this command I found on the net:
    Hold down
while plugging in the phone and keep holding it until the message waiting indicator (red light) starts blinking.  Then
release # and type 123456789*0# in sequence.
I was trying to switch my phone to sip and it also dont want to take tftp setup either.

    Tim,
    Found this on the net
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/ts/fn/620/fn62949.html
Might be woth giving it a go
6.Pull power on the phone (even if power is PoE).
7.Hold down the # key on the phone.
8.Continue holding down the # key and re-apply power.
9.While still holding the # key wait for the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light on the handset to start flashing.
10.Once the MWI light is flashing, release the # key and enter the following sequence exactly on the keypad:
    3491672850*#
Once this sequence has been entered on the IP Phone, if all the network criteria above have been met, it should begin its recovery process. This process can take up to 15 minutes to finish. The phone may appear to be doing nothing during this time. However, if the phone does not recover after 20 minutes then it is possible that the recovery is stuck. In this case, re-examine your network and verify that steps 1-4 are in place, then re-issue the factory reset sequence.
    * Note: The factory reset sequence is a way for a phone to clear flash and still upload to a valid firmware image. This is facilitated by the termxx.default.loads file, but requires that the image files listed in the termxx.default.loads file are available in TFTP for the phone to download. Open the termxx.default.loads file in any text editor. This loads file is essentially just a packing list showing all the OS and application files the phone needs to function. The files include a cnu, cvm, dsp, app and jar files. Please make sure that these files as listed in the termxx.default.loads file are in TFTP. ("xx" will be either "06" for the CP-7906G model, or "11" for the CP-7911G model.)
    Additional Diagnostic Steps:
    - Try a hard-coded IP address as a test to see if this resolves the upgrade failures. If it does, and the number of failing IP Phones is relatively few, this procedure may be the most expedient. After the IP Phone upgrades successfully, reconfigure the IP Phone to use DHCP.
    - Try putting the phone on a hub or a different switch and see if this helps change the startup timing enough so that the upgrade completes successfully.
    Regards
    Alex

Well, since you've had the same problem, with three different phones, that all use different size sim cards, it seems pretty obvious the problem is with your carrier/coverage & nothing to do with your phone or sim card.

  • Is this a common problem with the Samsung Nexus Phone

Going on my 3rd phone. The first brand new phone after 6
months would not allow the battery to be charged. The 2nd phone replaced under warranty
dropped calls and would not connect to the net. I am now waiting for the 3rd warranty
replacement phone. At this point I don't feel to good about my Samsung Nexus
    Phone.

It was a Verizon customer service person who told me that this is a common problem with Samsung Nexus model phones. From what you are saying that is not the case. As you suggested the store did change the sim card
at no cost to me. Unfortunately it did not resolve the problem.  The Brookfield Connecticut Verizon store could
not resolve the problem and said "it was a phone problem not a service problem." The local store and the Verizon national customer service would not exchange the phone or cancel the service without an early termination penalty.
The phone was sold to me by Verizon at a discounted price. I signed a 2 year service contract because of that promotional. I think Verizon and Samsung have a shared responsibility for the operation of the phone. Verizon customer service implied that there responsibility was limited to the service only. I say not so when you use it as a promotional tool to sell your service. I contacted Samsung tech service and they have accepted the reasonability of fixing the problem. Verizon needs to fix there problem with customer service and get all there people on the same page.

I personally haven't experienced much of the "reverberation/feedback" when using a headset on the i4S...
Yes, I have near-perfect hearing too (for scope, squeaky brakes hurt my ears) I come from many conversations on many phones and types and first off, CDMA technology is great for coverage, terrible for voice quality. HD Voice in Europe made for some of the best phone conversations I've ever had.
Back on track, feedback is most noticable (similar to the landline phone) when using the iPhone without a headset, but for me it's not an absolute criticality mainly because I use VoIP apps alot, so maybe it has desensitized me some over the past year.
But whenever I'm on a call, and the other person has me on speakerphone, I have alot of trouble talking because of the feedback loop caused. So the less of my voice I hear the better I can talk.
Have you tried a bluetooth headset yet?

  • Problem with nokia x03-02 phone

    hello all..
well i've got a brand new x03-02, it like 2weeks old. i've been encountering problems like it restarts on its own. its got 3 buttons on functionating since 3 days i think..i send that for repair..the man said its got something to do with virus and the memory card. they re setted factory and send it back to..upon inserting my sim card..the buttons ain't working neither. what to do????
am like..hell why ain't my phone working..i've got a 6months warrenty on the phone..they said they won't give me one new...is that impossible for them?

I was offered Nokia X03-2 without charge () when my beloved  Nokia 6i30i just died, and they failed to replace it. Of course they did not give me a new phone, but one that they have fixed.
At that point started my problems. The phone itself was nice, but when I have left it to be
charged, the next morning it was found dead.
They have replaced my phone once more, and this time I was watching the charge process - and it happened again.
The next time, I have disconnected the phone from the power when I received the BATTERY FULL message - but it was dead in the next morning.
It looks like this phone does not like to be fully charged.
Please let me know if anyone have succeeded in fully charging the phone and still survive. If anyone confirm that it is not a model restriction, I'll change it once again.
If I'll not receive any answer -I'll know that there is a major problem with the phone, and ask its replacement.
    Thanks,
    Koby.

  • Problems with BT Home Hub Phone 2.1 help!

I've been having problems with my Hub phone 2.1 handset for weeks now. A catalougue of woes: 1. It doesn't ring properly with incoming calls- It starts to ring but then there's a horrible highpitched feedback noise and then the handset resets itself. Impossible for people to reach me. I have to call everyone back. 2. It doesn't charge properly. It makes the "bleep" noise when placed on the cradle but stops charging after a few moments. Sometimes it makes the bleep at random times. Often the phone has been on the charging cradle all night but will cut out during a 5 minute call because the battery is flat as a pancake! Which leads to... 3. The phone will cut out at random times during a call (even if the battery is showing full). There's the horrible feedback noise and the phone resets itself again. This happens whenever I use speaker phone too. The Hub and handset are less than two years old and broadband and all the rest of it seem absolutley fine. It's just the handset. Any advice please? Thanks! )

Change the rechargeable batteries, sometimes they don`t last very long, their capacity reduces and there is not enough power to operate the handset properly.
Try to find ones with a higher capacity, as they do seem to work much better. I have four hub phones, and the original batteries lasted about a year. The replacements I fitted are fine.

  • Problems with CK-100 in 2003 Chrysler Grand Voyage...

I just installed a CK-100 in my 2003 Chrysler Grand Voyager using a ISO adapter cable from KRAM. The installation of the cables was easy. I used the configuration in which the CK-100 uses the car speakers and both phone and music from the phone are switched via the CK-100.
On testing the CK-100 I ecountered the following problems:
    1. when using the phone (Nokia 5800), the front speakers are used for the phone and work OK, but the rear speakers make a "static" noise which is quite irritating.
    2. when the phone is not in use my right rear speaker makes a soft clicking noise (approx. a click per second) which is irritating. This speaker also stopped transmitting musice from my car radio.
    3. When audio is played from my phone it uses the front speakers and everything is OK. In this situation I have to use the volume control of my Nokia 5800, the nav wheel does not work in this mode. Is this normal?
    Hope someone can help me.
    Regards,
    Robert

    Hi Dannyboy,
It seems you know a bit about this car kit and so i thought i would try and get some help from you. I am an installer and I have installed the nokia CK-100 Bluetooth car kit into three vehicles. In one I used my LG phone to test the kit with once the install was complete. When I connected it, it would disconnect straight away. When I tried the customers Nokia it worked fine. In a second vehicle, the customer has returned saying his is doing the same thing after two weeks of functioning normally. He has a Nokia and once you turn on the ignition it says "connecting" then a second later says "connected" before it can finish saying that word it says "disconnected" and then stays disconnected till we try initiating connection again. This happens with my phone as well. I can't get the unit to function properly. I tried CLEARING THE PAIRING LIST as per the instruction kit, but even with the car off and holding the button for 5 seconds the unit tries to connect the same as before.
    Any help would be good.
    Regards
    Amicom

im having problems with my quicktime media player where if i want to open or play a movie it says it doesnt support the file but if i open it up on a different media playr such as vlc it does.
also this problem arises as ive got a new mobile phone which is the k800i model which is only compatible and opens up movies in quicktime player only but when i download them on to my phoone they wont open saying error.
can anybody help me out coz ive just bought a momoery card for my phone and i would like to put some vidoes on it but it wont let me.

The printing software doesn't use Java (in any way). It does require QuickTime but version 10.2 is installed on your machine.
Maybe it wants an older version?

QuickTime Player 7 installs in the Utilities folder and you can use both versions on your machine.
