Problems  with syncing a second iPod

I have a number of playlists that I generated and have used with my first iPod. I recently purchased a second iPod, a nano, for my wife. When I synced it with iTunes, it created a playlist using the nano's user name and copied all the song names in my library into the playlist instead of copying the existing playlists. What did I do wrong and how do I correct this?

Sounds like you have the iPod set to sync automatically which will fill up the iPod until it is full.
When the iPod is mounted in iTunes click on the iPod tab and check "manually manage music and videos" then select which playlists you want copied to the iPod.

  • PROBLEM WITH SYNCING MUSIC TO IPOD...

i just downloaded the new version of itunes and also downloaded some new music going over the capacity of songs i could have, so i deleted bunch of music so it would fit and when i went to sync the ipod it said something about only syncing "kristin's ipod selection", im an idiot and i clicked it and now when i go under playlists in my ipod instead of all my playlists it just has two, "kristin's ipod selection", and "on the go", does ANYONE know how to change it so it goes back to listing all my playlists?? thanks!

If you have reduced the number of songs in iTunes, connect your iPod to your computer and when it appears in the Source list click on it to show the preference tabs in the main pane. Check the option Sync Music - All songs and Playlists then click Apply
If your Library exceeds the capacity of your iPod again you can choose which playlists you want to update. Connect your iPod to your computer and when it appears in the Source list click on it to show the preference tabs in the main pane. Choose the option Sync Music - Selected playlists. When you have ticked the playlists you want to update click "Apply".
Be careful when using selected playlists not to delete "Kristin's iPod Selection" as you can end up unable to sync, just keep it unchecked in your list.

  • Problems with syncing library to Ipod

I got some songs from a friend.  I transfered them from my external hard drive to my Itunes library.  When i sync my Ipod it says that all those songs can't be transferred because they "can not be found".  what does that mean and how do i fix it?

Wow! That is crazy. I've been using a Windows formatted iPod on my Mac for many years without a problem. But just recently, I have the same problem as the original poster. Sometimes I connect my iPod to my Mac and it does not mount. Rather, the iPod acts as if I plugged it into a wall powered USB cable. It charges, but does not mount. No sign of the iPod on the Mac. If I unplug it and try again (and maybe a 3rd time), the iPod finally mounts.
Is this a sign that my iPod is dying? I hope not, because it is a 160 gig version and I love having that much space.

  • !NEED HELP ASAP! Problem with syncing 4th generation ipod touch

I just bought a new ipod from a friend and itunes won't sync my music and apps onto it because it says it "waiting for changes to apply", what does this mean and how do I fix it? Please help ASAP so I can listen to my music before my 6 hr trip in a couple days.

I figured it out myself the easiest and best thing to do (or it was for me at least) if you already have your own music just go to settings on the ipod and then go to General, then reset, then tap Erase all Content and Settings and accept it. Now my ipod has all my music and apps on it and music cloud which it didnt have before lol.  But thank you for the help its greatly appreciated .

  • Problems with syncing my ipod

Yesterday I updated my iPod tot 1.1
After that it had that crappie bug with the video's, so I downgraded my iPod. After that I updated it again tot 1.1
Now I have a problem with syncing my iPod (video's only).
First I had some series it synced with my iPod, also after the first update. But after the second update it tells me there are some files it couldn't sync. (some videos it did sync btw, and the problem with the sound has gone, I can play movies normal now!)
So the problem is now that it doesn't sync all my movies anymore, and I converted all of them with the same program..
Anyone has the same problem or knows how to solve?

  • HT1296 Have a problem with syncing. I get this message: The ipod Bill's Ipod" cannot be synced because there is not enough space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 2.4GB required) I don't understand as I have much more space than 2

I recently ran into a problem with syncing my ipod touch to itunes on my Windows 7 pc. It had previously been synced to my older laptop
and I wanted to change to my newer Windows 7 laptop's itunes library that I had already been syncing with.
Anyway, I started seeing this message that prevents my from syncing:
The iPod "Bill's iPod" cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library
    (additional 2.48 GB required)
Not sure if it is talking about my iPod free space or my PC itunes library free space. Either way I have 11.0 GB free space available
on my iPod and 412 GB free space available on my Windows 7 PC.
How do I handle this problem?   Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks

It is saying that the iPod does not have enough free storage to sync all the items yu have selected to sync to the iPod. You need 2.48 GB more free on the iPod. You need either to select less to sync or delete some content form the iPod.

  • Problems with syncing, recognising iPod, thinking it's corrupted...

Hi, I've had this 30GB iPod photo of mine for a number of years now but for a long time it's been having problems with syncing. I've gotten an exciting variety of error messages when trying to sync with my iTunes, from my iPod software is out of date, by iPod is corrupted, to simply that my iPod will not sync for no adequately explained reason. Occasionally also Windows fails to recognise it. This was never too big of a problem because a few songs would transfer usually before it errored out on me, or I'd just unplug it, restart it and plug it in again and the few songs I wanted would go on. (I don't add giant chunks of new music to it that often) However just recently I discovered that about 300 songs were missing from it and I can't for the life of me get it to sync up again to put them back on. iTunes has been saying that An iPod has been plugged in but that it doesn't recognise it, or it'll start syncing and then say "Attempting to copy to disk "CASSIE'S IPOD" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." Any help or advice? is my iPod just horribly corrupted in some way and beyond help except for expensive repairs and replacement? Or is this a software thing I can actually fix somehow?

I eventually called an Apple Repair person about my Ipod, who advised me that "it sounded quite serious" and all he would do if I brought it in for repair would be to replace it with another reconditioned unit which would cost me $195! This was a newly "reconditioned" unit that I had just bought, so unfortunately it ended up going back. I've just requested a refund this time because this is the 2nd time this has happened to me in a month! I'm starting to think I was never destined to own an operating Ipod! I think I'll look at a Sony or Creative MP3 Player as an alternate. They seem to have good reviews and they'll probably work first time round! I'm a bit tired of Apple now! There just seems to be too many things that can - and DO - go wrong!

  • Problems with Syncing two different libraries on one mac

Ever since I downloaded itunes 11 onto my mac I am having problems with syncing.  We have two libaries on our mac and can still easily move between the two, each keeping our own playlists, and music/podcast libaries.  The problem is with the syncing to our ipods. The playlists stay separated, but unfortunately the sync update pulls both music libraries and puts it on each of our ipods.  Having very different music tastes, this is a drag.
A second issue - there is still that problem of having issues with purchased music not staying in playlists (on ipod) after syncing.
I've tried looking around the itunes tutorials and articles but wasn't having luck.  any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, in case it matters, one of us is using an Iphone and the other an ipod touch.

you might have to find a third party program to get those songs off her ipad onto the computer, apple doesnt support that unless they are purcahsed from itunes store because of DRM (Digital Rights Media) another word for copy write. so theres not a whole lot of hope for that, but you can always create a new user on your computer
>user>+ icon>Create new user make it admin
-if they are how ever purchased from itunes you would still make that new user, plug the device into itunes and authorize the computer by clicking store on the top of your screen where file edit and view are, Store>authorize this computer
once thats done you'll then plug that device in to the computer and on the left side of itunes you'll see devices and "Device name" the device its self, right click or control click the name and choose transfer purchases, anything that has ever been purchased of gotten for free will sync onto the computer,
you cant just simplay pull the songs off the device to the computer, doesnt work like that

  • Problems with itunes 8 and ipod shuffle gen 2.

Problems with itunes 8 and ipod shuffle gen 2.
I recently upgraded from itunes 7 to itunes 8 on my windows XP PC. That's when i had issues syncing my 2nd gen shuffle.
When i try to drag songs directly on it, itunes says i can't
I made a playlist and use auto fill. But when I remove it from the dock, it's either not updated, or the new songs are at the bottom of the playlist when they are supposed to be up higher. I end up having to hit auto fill twice to make it sync correctly.
    Computer Specs
    Windows XP SP3
384MB of Ram (works really good)
    USB 1.1 connection
Pentium 4 clocked at 1.285 GHZ
    IPOD Shuffle Specs
    2nd Generation
    1GB (964MB)
    Version 1.0.4
unchecked options: open itunes when ipod is attached, Sync only checked songs, convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps AAC, Enable sound check, Limit MAX volume, enable disk use
All those are NOT checked. Sometimes i enable disk use for seeing the IPOD_Control folder, but either way it still messes up.
    Itunes Specs:
    Version 8.1.1.10

This is a well-known issue. Apple changed the internal file names used with iTunes 8, which makes the ordering on 2nd generation Shuffles behave differently. There is no good workaround, apart from moving the files with a hand-crafted AppleScript program.
Apple has been silent on the issue, so nobody knows if we'll ever have a fix for it or not.

  • Problem with syncing AD users (LDAP)

I am running into a 'problem' with syncing users from ad. I'm pretty sure i'm doing something wrong but i can't figure it out.
When i sync manually the 'pop up' shows that it's synchronizing and after a few seconds it tells me "OK". But there are 0 users imported.
    http://www.dualdude.net/bm/run_ldap_sync.jpg
The connection and credentials to access the AD work since they are also used for Zarafa and Samba AD synchronization. The AD is running on an Windows Server 2008 Enterprise x64 machine.
This is a screenshot of the configuration used:
    http://www.dualdude.net/bm/ldap_config.jpg
Any thoughts on what i'm doing wrong?

I got the same problem when using groupfilter:
    User Filter: (&(|(objectClass=Person)(objectClass=orgPerson)(ob jectClass=inetOrgPerson))(groupMembership=cn=users ,ou=org,o=firma))
    Group Filter: (&(|(objectClass=group)(objectClass=groupOfNames)( objectClass=groupOfUniqueNames))(|(cn=G4)(cn=TC*)) )
Do you use groups for the allowed users in teaming?

Thank you for your reply. I guess the comma's should be right. When i
change the first "ou=" in the Base DN to "cn=" the error message states
that the best it can do is reach
    ou=OrganizationalUnit,dn=domain,dn=local. So i guess that shouldn't be
    the problem?
By default there is a container "Users" in AD, which we don't use. The
person that configured the server created an OU on the same level as the
default container. THe name of this OU has a space in the name, like
"Organi Zation". This OU contains another OU called Users. This is where
the users are located. When i run the ldap query i don't get any errors
about the base DN. It does when i change it.
    The full filter is:
    (|(objectClass=Person)(objectClass=orgPerson)(obje ctClass=inetOrgPerson))

  • What is the best way to sync a second Ipod (7th generation nano) to itunes

What is the easiest way to sync a second Ipod (7th gerneration nano)?  I want all my songs on both ipods.

iTunes treats each iPod separately, so you can set up each iPod's syncing as desired, without regard to the other one.  You can connect them both at the same time, and set them up differently or identically.
Here is a convenient way to set up automatic syncing, and in your case, keep both iPods in sync with each other.
I want all my songs on both ipods.
First, if your entire iTunes music library ("all of my songs") fits on the iPod, it will be easy.  Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Click on Music there.  Set it to Sync Music.  Below that, chose to sync Entire music library.  Apply the change.  Your entire music library syncs to your iPod.  Repeat for other iPod.  Any changes you make to your iTunes music library going forward syncs automatically to your iPods, when you connect them (or click the Sync button).
Otherwise, if your music library does not fit (or you want to be more selective), you need to set up the Music tab, but choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  This is where you can keep it simple...
Create a new regular playlist in iTunes, and name it something like "iPod Songs."  Add ALL of the songs you want on your iPod to that playlist.  Back on the Music tab, find and select ONLY that new playlist under Playlists.  Apply the change.  The songs on that playlist sync to your iPod.  Repeat for other iPod.  Going forward, when you want to update songs on your iPods, just update that playlist (add and remove songs).  Changes you make to that playlist sync automatically to your iPods, when you connect them (or click the Sync button).
