Problems with Syncing IPOD nano with PC running XP - unknown error [-69]

i just bought a new 8G Ipod Nano. When I try to sync, it copies some of my files and then gives the following error: "Attempting to copy to the disk "ipod name" failed. An unkown error occured [-69]. Can anyone please help! I never had this problem with my 2nd generation Ipod.

Have you had a look at this troubleshooting page? It may be of some help: iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod

  • Sync ipod nano with a new computer

My hard drive in my MacBook crashed and I now have a new computer. I am trying to sync my ipod nano with iTunes but i get a message stating that the content on my ipod will be replaced with the songs and playlists from my iTunes library (which is nothing). I want to get all my songs, playlists, from my ipod onto my computer. Help!!!

See if there are instructions for what you want to do in the iPod nano (5th generation) - User Guide, check Knowledge Base, iPod Nano Support or call U.S. iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273).

  • Sync iPod Nano with iPad2

I bought my mom an iPad2 last year because she doesn't have a computer (WAY too complicated for her) and I recently gave her my old iPod Nano 5G. I was wondering if there is a way for her to sync the Nano with her iPad2. Anyone know?

No, not possible.  Nanda can only be synced with iTunes on a computer.

  • Problem syncing ipod nano with itunes after external hard disc install

Since moving the itunes library (without a hitch) to a new external drive we have had a new problem which presumably is linked! When the ipod is plugged in all seems normal at first, the ipod syncs ok, then the system hangs at that point. itunes says "syncing ipod do not disconnect" (Even though the sync icon has vanished from next to the ipod on the itunes screen)likewise the ipod says "Do not disconnect". Windows then opens a "Autoplay" window which is obviously searching for files, with the torch graphic. This continues with the computer frozen. Cancelling the autoplay, leaves it saying "Cancelling" but it doesn't. Ctrl-alt-del is required to stop it, but that causes the computre to actually require a switch off. The fault is obviously with whatever is triggering the "Autoplay", but the ipod correctly lists as drive H, it doesn't seem to be a drive letter confusion. (Unfortunately it is impossible to learn which drive the autoplay is searching, and why, and what it can't find! Is there anybody that can help, as itunes is unuseable with ipod at present. I have tried completely removing and reinstalling itunes/Quick time with no effect!

Recently I transfered my entire iTunes library over to my external HDD
How and what exactly did you transfer?
and completed all of the necessary requirements to be able to play my music back from the new folder location (i.e. changed the location in iTunes preferences and consolidated everything etc)
This should been done before you transferred anything.
Now I have gone to sync my iPod Touch with iTunes and it keeps coming up with an error
What exactly is the error and when do you see it?

  • Problem with syncing ipod classic with iTunes and multiple accounts

Hi I have a 80gig ipod classic that I have just been using as is without putting any new music on it. I haven't had it hooked up to a computer or itunes in a couple years I've just been listening to the same music and using an iphone instead. To compound things I now have a couple (that I know about) apple id's that I am using. And a old HP computer which I am unsure if I can get running or salvage any of the music of it to transfer to my new Macbook Pro. I have logged onto apple and changed the password/id of the old apple id to authorize my new mac. I had some files transferred from the ipod to my new itunes but am still missing some 1100 songs. When I have tried to sync it I get an apple id prompt that I have never used before. I had my old apple id come up and with the new password got it to authorize on my Mac. Any help or direction on this will help me to bumble my way through until I can get to an apple store and try to get some help there. Thanks in advance!!!!!

    Hey catwoman001,
Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far! iPod software version 2.0.5 is available for the iPod classic 160GB (Late 2009). If this is your model, you may want to update the iPod. If you are having issues with your iPod, the following troubleshooting assistant may help:

  • Problems with Sync iPod Touch with MS Outlook 2007 Calendar

I've seen oodles of complaints in this area, I'm thinking Apple isn't ready for prime time with "Calendar"
I have a 10 year old palm pilot, that has been syncing a MS-outlook calendar for work, and one from home, and it allows me to have a PDA with an accurate calendar. The work computer is typically newer (Windows 7, Outlook 2007), the home computer is typically older (XP, Outlook 2001). But changes between the two have happened over the years, and the Palm faithfully keeps on Syncing the two. I only want one calendar to see all my life's activities (work meetings, kid's dentist appointments, wife's sewing groups, going out with friends, etc.)
Did I mention my palm is 10 years old? I purchased an iPod Touch last week, and I knew in advance it would force me to install iTunes (so both are new).
While the ipod touch has wonderful things on it (I've jumped 10 years in technology), I need a mobile PDA with an "accurate" calendar. Note the word Accurate.
After Syncing, I see some recurring entries on time, some recurring entries out by an hour, some recurring entries that were deleted on my computer, still there in the ipod.
I've read that sometimes when you do a change (just to the content) of a recurring item, it can change the time of the calendar entry
I've read that there are known bugs in deleted recurring entries, still appearing.
While my Palm Pilot was not perfect, it handled those situations.
From ideas I've read, I've reset my backup in iTunes, I've emptied my outlook calendar, synced it empty to ipod, imported my outlook calendar back, and synced it to ipod forcing it to "overwrite", but problem entries still remains.
I've read some people say they no longer use recurring entries. Not an option for me. If I have a client for a year that wants to meet every Tuesday at 2:00 pm, but oh, I can't July 13, he can't October 19, how am I supposed to remember on those future dates, that the PDA while saying there is a meeting, there really isn't one?
How do I go about with the entries out by an hour. Show up for every meeting one hour early, in case my PDA is wrong. Not acceptable.
I've played with both date settings on the ipod (one is the ipod date, one is the calendar date). And both settings on my computer (calendar time zone and computer time zone). My computer has a DST switch, ipod does not. I'm really begining to hate DST both on the impact it has for a human body to switch, but also all the crap it causes in a more and more and more technologically connected world. But I have to rely on a city selection choice, that ipod knows if it goes with DST or not??? I don't really trust Apple on that one, sorry, it seems they've not latched on to the concept of time correctly. So I don't trust their DST on or off decisions, that I can't tell if they've done or not. I can't find any GMT time zones, I can find UTC, but no number is beside it (I want to choose my offset number of the time zone I'm in).
While I like many kewl Apps the ipod touch has, the bottom line is, I need a PDA with a calendar. And I need a calendar that is accurate. And I don't want to enter 48 entries manaully in outlook 2007, when I can enter 52 with just one recurring effort, and delete 2 that don't work on a specific future day.
I don't want to arrive an hour early for a meeting, cause I can't trust if calendar entry is correct or out by an hour.
How can I tell if DST is on or off on the iPod (I do business monthly in an area that does not do DST). Playing around with time settings in my iPod to try to get most calendar items accurate with their time, but after a sync, it changes my time zone on the iPod to Phoenix. And I normally have it set to Calgary. I know Calgary is MST (with DST), but what is Phoenix? Why should I have to look up what time zone they are in, or do they do DST? Why does my ipod time zone change after a Sync!!!
I'm a small business owner, but if Apple is not ready for Prime time, someone please tell me. I have a 10 year old son who wants my new ipod toy, and I'm starting to feel it is only that, a toy, not yet ready for business.
Thank you for reading thus far

I can't understand this question, can you clarify?
By 'put a CD into itunes' did you mean you were viewing a CD in itunes or you had imported the tracks from the CD into your itunes library?
On what screen were you seeing 'no sync high lighted' and what does that mean?
Do you sync your entire library automatically with your ipod, do you need to select tracks to be automatically synced, or you manually manage your ipod's library?

  • Any problems in syncing iPod Touch with new computer?

My wife's iBook died and now I need to switch her to a newer computer. She had been syncing her iPod Touch with the old computer and she also has an iTunes account. During the down time she has been entering calendar data directly into the iPod Touch.
When I get her backup data into the new computer what kind of problems will we encounter? Will it correctly sync her calendars and contacts? Can she move or close her iTunes account from the new computer? Thanks.

Before you scrap the old one, go into iTunes and deauthorize the computer. When you get the new one set up and ready to go, go back into iTunes and authorize the new computer.
I'm not sure how you plan to transfer your library, but a portable hard drive or a big memory stick do work well. Don't forget to copy over the xml file as well as that will preserve your settings in iTunes.

  • Syncing ipod nano with itunes

Having lost a lot of my music files from itunes because of computer failure and user error(!)I now have more songs on my ipod nano than appear in my itunes library. If I attempt to sync with itunes now, will it delete any songs in the ipod that are no longer showing in the itunes library/list? I would like to add a few new downloads from time to time but dont want to risk losing the existing contents of my ipod...? (Is there a command to prevent itunes deleting songs in my ipod?).

Just wanted to say - "thanks very much"- to Zevoneer, for such an informative and helpful reply to my recent posting: looks like its a full time job...!
    Cheers,

Does anyone know whats going on?
I've been able to sucessfully load all the songs on another computer to my ipod. So I know theres something wrong with itunes. In light of that, I removed Itunes and tried to download it again. The same window appears saying theres a error (-69)

  • Issue with syncing iPod touch with new laptop

Hi, I am asking on behalf of my brother (who is very frustrated) about why his windows laptop is not syncing properly with his iPod touch 4th gen. He claims to have authorized the machine with his iTunes account but every time he syncs the iPod with the laptop, it demands that he delete all of his music and resync it. So he does as it asks and when he plugs it in again later, iTunes wants him to delete everything. He does have his device authorized with a few other computers. Could he solve his problem by deauthorizing them since he never plans to use them again? Thanks for any and all help.

To not lose anything do the following:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
The computer has to be authorized for his iTunes account. Since you can on have five computer authorized, he should deauthorize any unnecessary computer.

  • Syncing iPod Nano with Outlook 2003

Hi folks! I'm hoping someone here can help me. I have 2 8 gig 3rd generation nanos (mine and the wifes) which are way cool. I use to have a HP iPaq handheld which I used to play music and carry my scedule and contacts on. However ther is very little support for this old device and I went to the iPod thinking it wouls eassily sync to Outlook 2003 on my HP Vista machine. I worked at first although it woulds only sync select few appointments on my calendar but my contacts were initialy OK. I got it to function OK on both iPods as my wife and I need to know each other's scedules and we use the same contact list.
But recently I have been having issues with the sync as it routinely gives the error message: "iTunes failed to sync with Outlook calendars (or contacts) please log out of windows and log back in" When I log back on my calendar and contacts lus is gone on one of the iPods and will not sync back short on resetting the unit. So far the list will remain on my wifes unit but I am SOL. Anny advice would be appreciated

This isn't going to help but I want to add that my 3G Nano has similar issues. I use Outlook 2007 and it syncs just fine, no errors. Problem is that none of my contacts nor calendar items are sync'd. I have selected Outlook in iTunes CONTACTS tab as the source to sync from too.

  • Problems with syncing iPod touch with gtkpod, rhythmbox, banshee

I have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen. And I mount it with iFuse to ~/iPod.
gtkpod works and it does detect my iPod and most things seem to be working until I actually try doing things to the iPod. I tried deleting songs or adding new ones but gtkpod just outright quits. Can't figure out how to fix that.
So I tried others like rhythmbox and banshee and they don't even recognize my iPod.
I looked around and people say Clementine recognizes iPod even without iFuse. Tried it, doesn't recognize with or without iFuse.
I believe I installed all the necessary libraries such as libgpod or libimobiledevice and usbmuxd and etc.
I have iOS 5.1 on my iPod so I don't think it's the iPod's problem.
I just need a way to sync music to my iPod I don't really care what program I use anymore.
    Thanks.

The only way for me to solve the problem was to install gvfs. Which isn't quite what I wanted. I just wanted to use iFuse and gtkpod, but I don't have a solution except installing gvfs which mounts the iPod for me and clementine starts recognizing it  and I assume Rhythmbox and Banshee...etc will start working too. However, even though the programs recognize my iPod when i try to edit the songs in my iPod it won't let me. Clementine gave me an error and Rhythmbox just outright quits like gtkpod. Gtkpod's problem is still there. Tried deleting songs and when i saved changes it quits.
    Thanks for the help

  • Issues with Syncing Ipod Nano 5th gen

I put this in another thread its probably better here.. Have yet to receive help. Im gonna try and make what I did more clear and what options I have gone through
What I have tried to do
1: Search online for resolutions (found a few that I thought would help and they did not)
2: Contacted the local store - Unit is no longer under warranty but they stated they believe the issue is with Itunes Software not my hardware. Calling Tech would be useless, and being not under warranty would cost me money.
3: Search other sites where people discuss apple products.
I am a IPod user of 5 years... So I am familiar with how it all works. Im on my 3rd Ipod.
What I am attempting to do is sync selected music and video only. Sadly when I do this choice, it will not sync anything at all.. When I uncheck it it will then sync my music, video, and audio books no problem.. BUT I can not choose the songs I want.. Its either the entire library or artist if I do it by selecting artists.
I had not had this problem until I got ITunes 10. I have tried to downgrade my software but I like the functionality of ITunes 10 the best. ITunes 10 did work fine when I first got it, and had made no changes to it other then updates. Since I got ITunes 10 I had also gotten error 13019. Where I found some answers were to uninstall then reinstall.. Some said uncheck music sync everything else then recheck music and it will be fine. That does not work for some reason.
