Problems with Syncing two different libraries on one mac

Ever since I downloaded itunes 11 onto my mac I am having problems with syncing. We have two libaries on our mac and can still easily move between the two, each keeping our own playlists, and music/podcast libaries. The problem is with the syncing to our ipods. The playlists stay separated, but unfortunately the sync update pulls both music libraries and puts it on each of our ipods. Having very different music tastes, this is a drag.
A second issue - there is still that problem of having issues with purchased music not staying in playlists (on ipod) after syncing.
I've tried looking around the itunes tutorials and articles but wasn't having luck. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, in case it matters, one of us is using an Iphone and the other an ipod touch.

you might have to find a third party program to get those songs off her ipad onto the computer, apple doesnt support that unless they are purcahsed from itunes store because of DRM (Digital Rights Media) another word for copy write. so theres not a whole lot of hope for that, but you can always create a new user on your computer

once thats done you'll then plug that device in to the computer and on the left side of itunes you'll see devices and "Device name" the device its self, right click or control click the name and choose transfer purchases, anything that has ever been purchased of gotten for free will sync onto the computer,
you cant just simplay pull the songs off the device to the computer, doesnt work like that

Copy it to his computer into his iTunes library and authorize his computer with the iTunes account used to purchase them..
You cannot tranfser items from one iTunes account to another. Purchased items remain part of the iTunes account is was purchased with.

Two different libraries in one finder...

Hi!
Somehow my finder shows two different Libraries in the Finder:
1. Macintosh HD --> Library (7.25 GB)
2. Macintosh HD --> System --> Library (4.52 GB)
The folder 'caches' in both libraries are modified today, so they've been used today...
Obviously, I would like to use only one of them, so how can I see which of both libraries is really used by the Macbook? And can I just delete the other library?

You don't do anything in your Library folders. To do that you would launch Applications/iSynch with the device plugged in and from the Devices menu choose > add the device. You may also be able to synch thru iTunes.

Tell us the path of the Resources folder you mean. For instance... MacintoshHD/System/Library/whateverThere are many resource folders in Mac.

Managing Two Different Libraries on One MacBook Pro

How can I manage two different iTunes libraries on one MacBook Pro? My currently library (i.e. all files) is on an external hard drive. My girlfriend synced all of her music onto an iPad but she no longer has the computer. I'd like to get her music onto the computer without mixing her library with mine.

Choose the library connected to the iPhone, import the media content from the other one/two libraries. DeDupe.

Can sync two iPhoto libraries? (via.mac?)

My wife and I both use macs. We both take digital photos and so each have iPhoto libraries - both of which are inevitably incomplete. But what would be really handy is to have one 'shared' iPhoto library.
Can users on two machines somehow sync or share iPhoto libraries - either through wifi sync or via .mac ?

At the present there is not way to sync iPhoto 7 libraries. Any sync application can sync the image files but the database file, Library6.iPhoto, that contains all of the organization information, events, slideshows, keywords, comments, etc. has to be the same as far as content. Syncing apps cannot sync content of files. Until iPhoto Library Manager gets updated to be compatible with iPhoto 7, the only way is to export and import manually. At least the exported file will contain the keywords, title, comments and changed date (if the date was changed).
So keep new photos in their own events so that when it comes time to export and import it's easy to know which are the new ones.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Problems with syncing two iPhones

My girlfriend and I both bought iPhones the other day and we have an iMac at home (Intel iMac). Both iPhones have been connected to iTunes and, when both phones were connected to iTunes, I don't think we changed users on iTunes (I have an Apple account and she has and Apple account as well).
At some point, I tried to import my contacts from Yahoo and, at some point, she plugged her iPhone into the computer as well. We both ended up getting all of my contacts and all of her contacts (she tried to sync as well) on both phones. In addition, any time I try to download an application, it asks me for her password. Also, when I connected my iPhone to the iMac last night, it automatically synced and provided me with all of her applications.
Is there any way to solve this problem apart from "restoring" both of the phones?

Set up a second user account. From that point on everybody can have his/her own music, calender etc.

All apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account that was used to download the app. In order to install an app update available for an app downloaded and installed with your friend's iTunes account will require using your friend's iTunes account and knowing your friend's iTunes account password.
If a paid app, this amounts to stealing. Delete the app that was downloaded with your friend's iTunes account and download the app with your iTunes account if an app you want.

You can, but switching iTunes libraries and store accounts is generally more hassle than it is worth. You can sync each device with selected purchases and if you have more than one iOS device disable the option to Automatically include new apps, then apps purchased on one device won't automatically load onto the other.

I agree with Chris CA that this is the way I would *expect* iTunes to behave.
When I look at iTunes from my account (my music is in ~/Music/iTunes/ and not available to my spouse's account), I can see in my music library all my rips and my purchases, just as I would expect. I can use Store>View My Account (<myAppleID>) and all is as expected. Home sharing is NOT on.
Doing the same from the other account is not much different, actually. Nothing in the library yet, of course. Store>View My Account (<herAppleID>) also works. I CAN authorize my computer to play her music. I CAN view her iTunes purchases. When I attempt to download the purchases to HER library, though, I get the following dialog box:

I'm sorry I just saw the last post. I had two users on my hard drive, one for me and one for my daughter, but I am not sure what you mean by partioning my external????? I have heard the term before, but don't know how to do it. I am having serious crashing issues with this computer and believe I really need to do a clean install.
