Problems with technical support in Argentina

Hello,
I'm having a bit of trouble with my "AppleCare Extended Service" here in Argentina, and I wondered if someone was kind enough to help me understand.
I've recently had problems with my MacBook Pro's HD. It just died. I had to connect my laptop to another Mac, and use Disk Warrior in Target Disk mode to recover my info.
After that, I tried formatting my HD in Target Disk Mode using Disk Utility, so that I could reinstall the system. No luck, it whould just show error messages, and sometimes it would not even show up at all.
I also tried booting my MBP from the DVD but it would not read the DVD at all for some reason.
Anyway, my real problem is that I have "AppleCare Extended Service" so I imagined it would be just about replacing the HD. I took the laptop to an official reseller, which offers support. They told me I was covered by the guarantee.
A few days later I get a call, and they tell me that they have to charge me around $50 because my HD is ok, and the guarantee does not cover the software. I told them I didn't ask for any changes to the software, and they told me it was either $50 to fix it, or $20 to get it back untouched.
I got a few emails from the technician explaining to me that the MacBook Pro was OK, but after a few mails back and forth, he told me that the computer had a defective DVD drive, covered by guarantee, and "serious communication problems" between the vram and other devices, which required a firmware update that was not covered by the guarantee.
After fighting a bit over the emails, he told me he was going to replace the optical drive, but put back the original firmware, and charge me nothing for it. But he also said my disk won't work with this original firmware.
Please forgive my very long explanation, but I just wanted to know if this sounds like correct procedure, or if it sounds odd to you as it sounds to me.
Is there any official channel to raise complaints about the way this is being handled?

  • What is going on with technical support?

    I have been on the phone for over 2 hours trying to get ahold of technical support.  Then I get disconnected and need to dial back in.
    What is going on with technical support?  The handful of times when I needed to open a trouble ticket with ADOBE, it was a reasonable amount of time.
    I hope this is not an indication of the current direction of the company.  I have used Coldfusion for over 8 years and have never had such a horrible experience.

    This information is a couple of years old, so I can not vouch for how current it is.  But it may be worth a try.

  • Bad Quality Macbook Pro and Deficient Apple Technical Support in Argentina!!!

    I have a Mac Book Pro that I bought a year ago and the last couple of months have been working really bad!
    I sent it to the technical support and they told me they have to change several parts of it. After 2 months I'm still waiting for a response using a terrible slow machine that works like crap.
    This was my first Macbook Pro and I was happy that I wouldn't have so many problems as in my previous Ubuntu PC but now I realized how silly I was, components from this Macbook Pro seems to be really bad and getting it fixed in countries like Argentina is almost impossible.
    I'm a computer engineer and I've been really unpdroductive during the last months, so this make me consider the idea of going back to Linux or even a Windows Machine, since having a Macbook Pro proved to be a terrible experience for someone who really needs to trust in their computer.
    I'm travelling to San Diego next week, does anybody know how can I fix this problem there or something?

    Sorry eww about that, I'm not sure what parts need to be replaced apart from the logic board (it seems that is the motherboard + microprocessor).
    I'm not sure mac users can do something to help me, but I was expecting that after my experience other people willing to have mac support in Argentina realizes that it's really bad!

  • Problem with configuration supporting point in MD62

    Hi,
    well I have detected a problem with my planned independent requirements for some materials.
    The materials that are concerned are semifinished product which have an active BOM.
    Example :
    material A composed with material B and C.
    On the material A I have the strategy group 54. For these materials I have "VSE" PIR.
    The problem is that for many materials, the VSE needs can not be seen by components.
    Example, on material A, I have a VSE need on 15.02.2010, MRP generates a planned order on 15.02.2010 on material A. No problem but I have in MD04 an alert 52 for these PO.
    I go to material B or C in MD04 and I don't see any needs ! The planned order needs have not been splitted to the components.
    I have seen that if I go to MD62 for material A and if I click on "Configuration supporting point", everything is OK after next MRP Run but the problem seems to go back after few days.
    The strange thing is that it works perfectly for some materials and it doesn't work for others materials although there is no differences between data of these materials !
    Finally, I have to say that program RM60RR20 is turning every night and I have seen that there are some calls to function DELETE_SUPPOINT. Maybe this program is deleting the supporting point but it should recreate the supporting point after...
    Is there anybody which know how this program is working or why sometimes my supporting point is deleted without being recreate ?

    Have you tried typing the query in query manager and are you sure you've selected the correct column? You can check the column name if you switch system information on and verifying the values in the database for that column.

    hello all first of all please accept my apologies for my bad english language .I'm an American who lived outside of America since childhood. i hope you understand me . i am one of the apple fans that many times i contact with apple support team for solving my itunes problems, some of supports were great But on other side there are many employee in the apple company that they just give us some PREPARED answers without thinking about what i ask them !
    i want to report my problem here to get rid of those useless persons and ofcourse those weak answers in the apple company. before of explaining my problem  , let me tell you a short thread:
    some months ago i bought one microsoft XBOX live CODE to charge my LIVE account , i bought that from a retail store at France. Code was redeemed before i buy that , that was obvious that seller had decide to scam me with a used voucher ! and he did not accept my words and he just needed proof. so i go to microsoft.com on support section then i start talking  with online chat support
    please help me to solve my problem , please tell me that how i can report some one on apple?

    hi bleach i explain whole the story in the post 1  but the forum moderator removed that and this time he EDIT my thread.
    i bought 3 iTunes code and i want to know the date and time of redeeming, this issue happened to me manytimes in the past and each time apple support answered me with the time of redeeming of the code.
    but some times some persons in apple support they don't help me and they don't give me date and time of redeeming ! and they just give me some prepaid and Irrelevant answers.
    all i want to say is that many persons in apple are useless really, and we have report their weak support.

    Hi Mahesh,
    This problem what your facing is typical of implementing of support packages.  Mahesh , there is a problem with the import .  What you can do is reimport  the Support Package thru OS level.
    tp import <support patch> <sid> pf=\usr\sap\trans\bin\TP_DOMAIN_ACD.PFL tag=spam -Dclientcascade=yes -Drepeatonerror=8
    After You Import Restart the Server by stopping SAP. hope this solves your problem

  • Problems with language support (interpunction)

    Hi, i am writing screenplays in slovak language and i have encountered a serious problem with interpunction  in Adobe Story. There are few letters that are not working. Concretely ľ,š,č,ť,ž. Other ones in the same row (ý,á,í,é) are working correctly. Please correct me if i am doing something wrong but i couldnt figure out solution to this problem alone so i am writing here. My tools: Win7, current version of Google Chrome, online version of St (standalone app has the same issue). Are you planning to fix this issue and if then when? I am using different solution to writing scripts, Adobe Story looks definitely better but without proper interpunction i cant use it. Thanks for answer.

    ES is the Language for spanish..But the Flat file should have to represent 'S' for Spanish.
    Check in Table T002 for the symbols which represent Languages and that to be used in flat file.

    I would like to know what happens when paper size suzh as A3 is given to printer for printing, if that A3 paper size is not supported by printer. How it is handled.
    Will it print in A4 paper with A3 scaling.

    It depends on the printer model and the driver.  Typically if a printer does not support A3 format then A3 will not be a choice in the paper settings for the driver.
    Some printers do have scaling options that allow automatic scaling from one paper size to another when printing.

    Crystal Reports seems to have problems in the treatment of the following characters unicode: ethiopic Digits & Numbers u+1369… u+137c.
    As soon as one of these characters appears in the viewing of a Formula Field with Format>Paragraph>Text interpretation positioned with “RTF” or “HTML”, the component CrystalReportViewer posts the following dialog box
    (Failure of the Report Application Server)

    What version of .NET are you using?

    I note that support for ethiopic Digits would not be supported until VS 2005 at the earliest:
    As such, the update will not be seen in Windows until Longhorn or in the .NET Framework until the version after Whidbey.
    So, if you're using .NET 2005 or later the point is probably moot..., but my other questions do need to be answered.

  • Problem with video support file format VOB (Video Object)

    I have created a project with VOB files which premiere pro cs4 supported orginally but after an update from adobe it now suddenly it will not recognize them, marking them in the timeline as 'Media offline'. I have tryed to relink them but I kept running into the same problem - 'File format not supported'. I have checked Premiere pro cs4 help and it states that it does support VOB files which it did orginally. I can not tell if it is a codecs problem or not. Help anyone???

  • Problems with game support of EAX Advanced HD with the Live! 24-b

    Everything about the card has worked as expected except for the EAX Advanced HD game support, which this card is specifically supposed to feature. As I understand it, that's the whole point of getting this particular Li've! card in the first place.
    I have all drivers and software installed cleanly and correctly and up to date. Again, I have zero problems outside of games. So far now, I have encountered three games that are failing to recognize my card's Advanced HD support. Those games are F.E.A.R., Quake 4, and Doom 3 (and yes, all pertaining games are also patched and up to date). I have however found at least one game that is properly recognizing my card's feature support of the Advanced HD, and that is Thief: Deadly Shadows, though it still fails to support Eax
    Multiple Environments, though I admit I'm not certain the Li've! 24-bit supports that feature (perhaps someone could clarify?).
    Another point of question is this card's support of OpenAL. I was under the impression that if a card supported Advanced HD it would also support OpenAL. Can someone clarify? If so, Quake 4 is also failing to recognize the Li've! 24-bit's support for OpenAL (the game gives a specific warning message notifying this). I don't know for sure about F.E.A.R., but I would assume it's the same case there. On this subject, I'll mention that I've also already made sure that the OpenAL library is properly installed on my system (openal32.dll).
    Can something be done about this? The whole purpose and gimmick to purchasing a Li've! 24-bit instead of a normal Li've! is mainly to get the Eax Advanced HD support. But if games aren't going to recognize its feature support, what's the point?

    Are you using the 2005 beta driver set or the 2003ish non-beta drivers?

  • Problem with Apple Support Communities

    I am having many issues with this website.  I was finally able to sign in after 3 days of them not recognizing my existing account.  Now the screens are VERY slow and there are  pop-ups before each screen confirming that i want to view only webpage content delivered securely (?).  Also many screens will not load and I cannot use the reply button to reply to responses.     It sounds like you're using IE 6, 7, 8 or 9. Yes, it's agonising for most people in those particular ways.
    You should have better luck in a different browser. I'm making do with Safari 5.0.5 at the moment, and I know other folks are doing okay with Chrome. (Not sure about Firefox.)
