Problems with the brightness of my 27" inchs i7 iMac (2009)

The brightness isn't as high as it should, I see the screen fluttering few times to a lower brightness. Usually, when I turn on my computer the bright is ok, but immediately it goes lower and flutter randomly.
Note: I have Windows 7 64bits running on Bootcamp too but uses more frequently Mac Os. Don't know if that matters.

Hello, I have a problem with the latest update of PS CC two iMac in the company where I work, is that updated to the latest version and have recurring problems, for example, when using the Transform an object tool, the object changes, shown with noise or change the opacity and you can not edit, or also adding some other effect is the result: a distorted image. I think that's the latest update of PS because I have no such problems, because even I do not upgrade to version 14.2.1. I'd take it into my local APple store and have them look at it. There may be something wrong inside your device.

I have this (or a similar) issue and I did notice something interesting. After I boot into Windows via Bootcamp (where I have the U3014 specfic driver installed) and then reboot into MacOS X (Mavericks) the monitor works flawlessly.
I would hazard a guess that this means bootcamp is retaining the driver used in Windows. Kind of the reverse of the TB GBE adapter driver issue.
To explain my issue for anyone else: the monitor flicks on and off as if the connection was poor. Connecting via HDMI. Connection is fine and as stated, everything works fine in Bootcamp.

My MacBook Pro 13 inch makes a clicking noise from the hard drive and can not start up in safe mode and normal. I then ran disk utility in recovery mode and disk utility shows no problems with the hard drive. What is the problem?

Sounds like a mechanical problem with the drive and it ruined the sectors where the Macintosh HD partition (and OS X, and files and programs) reside, but not your Recovery HD partition.
If you held command option r while booting, that's Internet Recovery and it's loaded via the Internet, not via the Recovery HD partition on the boot drive, so that could mean the drive is dead mechanically or there is another issue.
In either case the drive will likely have to be replaced, it's a matter of what occured to where and the drive state if you can recover data or not. If you made recent backups then your fine.

I installed latest yosemite 10.10.2 update - did a verify disk on “WDC WD1001FALS-403AA0 Media” (internal HD on my iMac 21.5-inch, Mid 2011) and got
Problems were found with the partition map which might prevent booting
Error: The partition map needs to be repaired because there’s a problem with the EFI system partition’s file system.
However a verify disk on the volume partition gets a clean bill of health!
I haven't done a 'repair disk' yet. Thought I'd check if anybody else has same message first.

I had issues where my MacPro 8-core would not boot after the 10.7.4 upgrade, but my MacBook Air 13" 2011 upgrade worked just fine.
I had to restore my MacPro HD from my TimeMachine back up. Apparently, the Softraid raid drivers that I use on my MacPro are not compatible yet with 10.7.4. See here for more info:

Urgent problems with image viewing on my 20 inch Cinema display???

I have a very urgent problem concerning my Apple Cinema 20 inch Display and my SpyderPro2 on my Mac Pro Intel Dual Core Xeon 2x 2.66GHz.
I have been using the Spyder for some years now, but recently I have been having big problems with the results.
I have a major contract with a jewellery company in London, where I clean up digital photos. Images that I have lightened up to look great on my Cinema Display have been reported by my client to look pretty dark on their PC's in their offices.
Some of these images show lines and grubby patches??? To check this I opened files in Photoshop and moved the levels 'black' slider down quite some way, and did see evidence of what the client could see at their end? It seems that when I have used a faded eraser brush it leaves a light patch in between the shadows of the jewellery. This shouldn't be visible to the naked eye though?
I must point out that when I use the eyedropper tool on images, to read the amount of grey or colour in the white areas around the peices, I am shown values of 1,2 or 4 maximum in the CMYK values. 4 percent out of 100 is nothing and should not be visible to the naked eye?
How is it that my clients PC's can see dark shadows and where my eraser brush has rubbed out???
I have tried many re-calibrations and also tested all of my older calibrations dating back a few years. I have also tested the same faulty images on Intel iMac's, an eMac, and a few PC's. On the iMac's I can just about make out the artefacts that my client can see, but nothing that I would deem as unacceptable.
I am at a loss as to the fault, but It may be the Spyder2 Pro's inability to calibrate my Apple Cinema display properly? I may lose my contract which I cannot afford to do, and I simply have to find the cause ASAP.
I have my Mac's in my office apartment next to two bay windows. I have vertical blinds there. When calibrating I have always turned off all the lights and pulled the blinds right back so that only the light from the two large window doors is coming in.
For graphic design the calibrations seemed to be okay for quite some time, but recently it is getting harder to achieve good results with the Spyder? This could affect all of my workflow which is very serious. But I must stress that overall the Spyder results are not terrible. I can see good colours and dark levels and in general across all of my calibrated profiles, the jewellery looks acceptable on my Cinema Display?
I did say to my clients that they should calibrate their PC screen properly but their offices have many Screens and they all show the same artefacts (some much worse than others)? I know that PC Screens are darker than Mac's but a 4% grey should not be visible????
As these are a web company the images will be seen by PC users around the world and most of these will have no calibration on their screens. What can be done to prevent this and what is the cause of this? I can't possible please everyone, but as a creative professional I have to be 100% certain that my workflow is at its best.
I need urgent help to solve this or loose valuable business? I hope that you are able to help solve this mystery.
I have just purchased the new Spyder3 Pro which I hope will give perfect results but I have to find out what the cause of this is. If some of the fault lies with the client, I can charge these for all the testing and calibrating I have done.

One thing you might want to try adjusting is the gamma setting in Displays Preferences color calibration area. Macs typically are set at 1.8 but PCs will often use 2.2. That could account for the difference.

Has anyone had a problem with the letters literally rubbing off the keyboard?

Has anyone had a problem with the letters actually disappearing from the keybord, like being gradually rubbed out? My macbook air had this problem one year after purchase. They fixed it for free. Now, a year later, I have the same prob. Apple doesnt want to know.

Important to note from the beginning is that when you create your Photoshop document make sure you chose 300 Pixels/inch as your resolution.
I'm interested in seeing your Save Adobe PDF dialog box after you choose to save the PDF.
Could you post a screenshot of this dialog box with the Compression menu selected on the left side?
It's a good idea to select High Quality Print or Press Quality in the Adobe PDF Preset menu at the top of this box. It will automatically select the best default settings for a printed piece.

Problems with the pictures in automatic mode

I bought an xperia Z1 just a few days ago, I just find a problem with the camera flash, when I take a picture in automatic mode.
failure is, when a picture is taken in autmomatic mode, the right side of the picture, left with a bright white shadow, wich is ruining the photos.
I need your help, Its so frustrating, I thought I had made the right decision when I bought this computer, but apparently not

Problems with the cold?

i just wanted to see if anyone else has started having problems with the nano in the cold. here's the deal:
i'm in nyc and it went down to around 25 degrees today. i had my nano in a pocket by itself (god forbid i put even a tissue near it or it'll scratch). it's also in a hard plastic case. this pocket was an inside pocket of my loose jacket (before someone asks if it was in my jeans pocket when i sat down). i then proceeded to walk around outside for maybe 1.5-2 hours, not listening to the nano because i was with other people.
when i took it out to listen to it on the way home i realized that there's a vertical crack running down my screen with a black blotch extending from it (that's on the left side of the screen). then, over on the bottom right corner there is a perfectly square blacked out section. now, this is separate from the 1st black blotch and crack, and this square is not associated with a crack.
i've broken my fair share of lcd screens on game boys and game gears (some of those games really ****** me off) and when they crack from impact you can always pick out the point of impact from the cracking pattern. what i don't understand about what's going on with my nano is that there is an almost perfectly vertical crack with no point of impact. we then have the issue of the .25 x .25 inch black square on the opposite side of the crack.....
only thing i can think of is that this is cold related. anyone else have similar issues or have any idea what's going on here? thanks

Call apple and tell them your iPod nano has a faulty screen and see what they say. Also, tell them you want a new one since you shouldn't get a refurb as it was faulty from the beginning.

Finally, some people report long repair times, but for the most part it is a one week turnaround time. 99% of the time apple's service is great. My headphones became fuzzy at one point and I got new ones the next day in the mail.

PS: Keep in mind the operating temperatures of the nano...
32 degrees and 95 degrees for future reference and if it is too cold your battery life may shorten.

Vignetting problems with the 16-85VR profile

I recently downloaded the 16-85VR and 55-200VR profiles for use with my D300. I initially tested them on a brick wall at the focal length extremes, and all worked well. However further testing with the 16-85VR profile at intermediate values (I used 35 and 50) demonstrated vignetting over-correction; with the vignette slider at the default of 100 the image edges and corners were much too bright. Bringing the slider down to approximately 20 gave acceptable results. The geometric and CA corrections appeared ok at all focal lengths. There were no observed problems with the 55-200VR profile.
I would ask whomever created the 16-85VR profile to re-check at the intermediate values and see if they can reproduce my results. Again, it appeared to me only the vignetting correction was faulty. The problem occurred both in ACR 6.1 and in Photoshop CS5. I have attached a screenshot showing the problem. The original .nef can be downloaded from http://rgbaustin.com/S10_5685.zip.

Shot the proverbial brick wall at 42mm this morning, vignetting problem easier to see (slider set to default 100). Again with control set at about 20 the wall looks ok.
Adobe or profile creator, please get this fixed, this is otherwise a very useful profile.

What is your brightness setting & how many apps are open?
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

I just order 8 calendars from iPhoto and they came to me fine. Now I need to order two more but when I go thru the process I get a message saying:unable to assemble calendar. There is a probleme with the photo with the file name"(Null)" more........ .

Would someone be able to explain to me the following issue with Iphoto?
I ordered 8 same calendars for my soccer team and received them fine. Although a couple of pictures on it are a little off (out of focus). I need to order two more of the same calendars but when I go thru the process ireceive an error message saying:
"Unable to to assemble calendar" There is a problem with the photo with the file name "(Null)" The full resolution version of this photo either cannot be located or is corrupt. Please replace this photo or delete it from your calendar.
How can I fine this "corrupt" photo? How did it go thru with the first batch of calendars but won't go thru now?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
