Problems with the number of image files

Hi
I am currently working in Quark and I have a big problem. Quark can't handle my 250 page, 700 image files document. If I try just scrolling through the documents from start to finish Quark crashes, and it doeesn't even create a rescue file. Now in the Quark forums they tell me to split the document into chapters. Chapters are fine if you are working with others on a projects as it lets different people work on different parts of the book at the same time. But this is all me, and I do A LOT of scrolling back and forth to cross check facts and so on. Having to constantly switch between files would be a huge pain. How would ID handle a document of this complexity?

But this is all me, and I do A LOT of scrolling back and forth to cross check facts and so on. Having to constantly switch between files would be a huge pain.
I guess it's a matter of work styles, but I'd much prefer to switch around among a batch of open chapters with a simple key combination, as opposed to scrolling back and forth through pages in linear fashion.
How would ID handle a document of this complexity?
With the limited information you've offered, I'd say I have experience with similar documents, (product catalogs/pricelists), that ID handled just fine, and other cases in which seemingly simple files choked it. I can say the same of Quark. No one can answer your question definitively; there are too many variables. Chances are it's not (only) the size and complexity of your document in itself that are causing your problems. There can be any number of hardware or OS issues contributing, to name a couple.

    Aperture import plug-in won't run.  After examining my library the number of image files stays at "undetermined" and the import button stays greyed out.  Any thoughts?

    Others have the same issue, with the import button being grayed out.  My trail copy expired, but I believe by poking around in the options and selecting another Aperture library and re-selecting, I was able to continue.
    The problem is common enough, that hopefully Adobe will address.  In the mean time, try repairing your Aperture library, checking permissions, exporting a subset of your library for a test, or try putting that library subset on an external drive.  (Can usually avoid permissions issues.)

  • Cannot contact the Adobe Service, I have a problem with the number.

    Hi,
    I would like to have more information in regard of the Adobe DC. My intent is to buy the product and use it in my office, we are a small company (4 PC).
    If I'm not wrong I should take the Standard Plan for Business, but I cannot arrange any payment request for information because I have a problem with the number I am supposed to call.
    Is there any other way to know if this software suit fine for me and my company, and most of all how much it will cost.
    Thank you for your consideration.
    Have a nice day!
    I look forward to hearing from you.
    Best,
    Augusto

  • Problems with the number three on the keypad

    iphone 4:  When I dial a phone number, all of the digits on the keypad work correctly.  When prompted to enter an account number or PIN, or choose an option from a menu after I get connected to my party, the number three key often does not register.  I thought I might have dropped the phone or something so I tried my wife's iphone 4 and it has the same problem as mine with the number three.  Is there a "fix" or workaround for this and am I the only one with this problem?

  • Problem with the Zone Info Indianapolis file with jdk 1.4.2_11

    I'm doing some timezone testing and noticed that Indianapolis Zone Info file is calculating the time incorrectly when I pass the ID "America/Indiana/Indianapolis" into SimpleDateFormat for a date after 3/11/07. I believe it is calculating it as Atlantic Time instead of Eastern Standard Time. It works fine When I replace it with the Indianapolis Zone Info file from the jdk 1.4.2_08. The jdk 1.4.2_11 I am using came bundled with Weblogic 8.1 SP6.
    Thanks

    DST Rules are changing this year, and are correct in 1.4.2_11 and up. Any version earlier than that has the wrong dst rules. Read this link for more info:

  • Problem with the PUT operation some files won't transfer help please

    Hi everyone,
    I am using DWCS3 on OS X Leoard 10.5 and MAMP
    I am putting together a basic index.html page and then I want to template it. Pretty basic stuff.
    However when I want to view the index.html page in my MAMP testing server, In the middle of the PUT operation I get a message saying;
    File activity incomplete 1 file or folder was not completed.
    index.html - Put operation successful
    - error occurred - An error occurred - cannot put .  An unknown error occurred.
    css:index.css - same - not transferred
    SpryAssets:SpryMenuBar.js - same - not transferred
    SpryAssets:SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css - same - not transferred
    SpryAssets:SpryMenuBarDown.gif - same - not transferred
    SpryAssets:SpryMenuBarRight.gif - same - not transferred

    SpryAssets:SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif - same - not transferred
    SpryAssets:SpryMenuBarVertical.css - same - not transferred
    File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not completed.
    Files updated: 1
    Files skipped: 8
    Files with errors: 1
    Finished: 23/07/2010 13:30
    I am aware that files are not transferring over to the testing server but I don't understand why or how to fix the problem. I don't think the problem lies with the path from Dreamweaver to the testing server because I have been working on the page and viewing it in the testing server. It's only just started displaying the message above and not passing some of the files over. It will for example pass the index.css page over.
    I have copied the code over for index.html, SpryMenuBar.js, SpryMenuBarHorizontal.ccs and SpryMenuBarVertical.css.
    In the hope that someone will not mind taking a look at this for me.
    Below is the code for my home page in case the problem lies here

    I've only encountered two instances where the PUT operation failed on certain files. One, the server does not like the particular file type, and two, when the file was open in another program.
    Other than that, I could only guess that it may have something else to do with the web server configuration and not DW.

  • Problems with the Host command (copying files)

    i am trying to copy a file from one location to another.
    i use the get_file_name function to select the file i want to copy.
    it does not work when in the path, if the directory name has a space in between.(e.g New Folder).The error i get is(the system cannot find the path specified)
    it works fine when a folder name does not have any space(e.g NewFolder).
    y:='o:\documents\filname.doc';
    x := get_file_name(null,null,null,null,open_file,true);
    host('cmd /c start /w copy '|| x ||' '|| y,no_screen);
    any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

  • Problem with the number format in the graph axis with Report Generation Toolkit.

    Hi!
    I'm trying to use the Report Generation Toolkit to plot some graphs in Excel.
    My first problem is that I don't know how to configure the number format in the Excel Set Graph Font.vi so that my numbers are correctly displayed in the graph's axis. The only given option is general (0,0) but this is not enough for me, my numbers can get really small so I need engineering notation or fraccional format.
    Second: I also insert a table with the graph source data, but the numbers are not correctly displayed either: for example:
    0,75 is shown as:
    0,750000
    but 1,25  is shown as:
    1!250!000
    My guess is I am making to much or wrong string to number conversions or Excel is getting it wrong but I can't find my way...
    Can someone help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Isabel

    Here is my VI, it's just a trial so it can look messy...
    Thanks,
    Isabel

  • Problem with the Labview PDA and file transfer.

    Im using PALM Tungsten T3 to run some applications. The OS environment is Windows XP. When I try to download a data.txt or data.dat file to the pc using the Hotsync, it gives me an error. There is installed datalogmgr that is the application that allows files exchange between Palm & PC.
    Error message
    Se ha iniciado la sincronización HotSync 03/09/04 16:12:12
    Aceptar Calendario

    fopen(C:\PDAdata\19_samples.txt) failed
    LabVIEW Datalog Conduit ha fallado la sincronización
    I have installed the LVPDA_Patch_70f1.rar file (in the correct order). I tried also with another file generated by PDATempData (in the examples) and it didnt work. I tried Also to delete datalogmgr and download it again. I tried to instal
    ll Labview COnduit again. Any idea?

    I know its been a long time since your post. Did you make sure to have the directory that you want the file transferred into created on your PC before the sync. If the folder isn't there you will get that error.

  • The best way to solve  problem with the site containing  JSP Files java co

    I am getting NullPointerException pointing at some java file but I have the same JSP file of that name.
    and which line it is pointing it is not there in that file means file has 500 lines and it ponting to 700.
    I got this information from log file but I cannot get the exact line where the error is coming from.
    Can I arrange all code of site according to Netbeans, so that I can complile and run everything to get the problems solved.
    I don't know how to proceed?
    And one more thing the results on web sites are comimg very slow , any suggetions to improve the performance
    I am working on a undocumented code left inbetween by some one and new in real time coding.

    JSP pages compile dynamically into Servlets when requested. The error line number you got corresponds to line number of this dynamically generated Servlet not the jsp page. If you are using Apache Tomcat, these dynamically generated files should be located somewhere inside Work Folder. Anyway, you need to debug your jsp page. some line in this particular jsp page is throwing NullPointerException.

  • Anyone have a problem with the number of columns in a webform in 11.1.2?

    We are converting apps from 9.3 and have discovered a problem when an unspecified error occurs when trying to pull out a web form with more than 125 columns. The form works in 9.3 and loads without error in 11.1.2 . However when its run in the new version it fails with an unspecified arror. The columns are a list of base accounts. If this is broken down between the base accounts of the immediate children of the specified account then each group works properly, but if it's the base of the specified account or the base of the children of the specified account each on a separate column definition then the error occurs. Has anyone come accross this before, or is there a new (undocumented) parameter relating to columns like MaxCells?
    Just to clarify: if the columns are 125 then the form works properly, if it's 126 columns then the error is generated, and it happens immediately the form is run.

    Try copying and pasting the script of the report from the old verison into a new report in 11.1.2 instead of importing the report

    Hi!
    Why can't I compile this snip of code?

    Here is the code:

    public static void main(String[] args) {
    File myFile = new File("D:/myjava");
    File[] str = myFile.listFiles();
    Thanks in advance
    Henning

    There is no method "listFiles()" in "File" class. (JDK 1.1.8)
    You can try to use " list() " method which
    Returns a list of the files in the directory specified by this File object.
