Problems with TNSLSNR on Win98 Oracle8i Personal Ed.

When I start up my tnslsnr.exe on port 152 it remains open for 4-5 seconds and shuts down. It had been working and the tnsnames.ora was correct. Is there a bug in this or am I missing something. It works well a number of weeks and then quits all of a sudden. My solution at this point is to reinstall Personal Oracle 8i. Could someone give me some ideas??

I realized that my PKZIP Extract options were not correct.
One MUST enable USE FOLDER NAMES otherwise it puts all files in one directory, and cannot find them.

Problem with iWeb after associating a personal domain name with my MobileMe

I think I did this by the book. I associated my personal domain name with my MobileMe account, then changed the CName pointer at GoDaddy to MobileMe (MM), then went back to MM and hit 'Done'. iWeb now lists my MM account as 'My account name (personal domain name). It took a little while for the DNS pointer to propogate, but now I can go to a browser, type in my personal domain name, and MM delivers my iWeb website as I wanted it to, apparently from my domain, not web.me.com. The problem is, as soon as the DNS propogated, MM delivers my MM site OK, but iWeb can't find the files for it anymore. All my pages immediately went red (unpublished) when I tried to update the site, and any attempt to Publish gives me this error "iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again." I'm cable connected to an ADSL router, and Airport connected to a cable router, and neither service has dropped out. I've rebooted, and retried, and the website is up under my own domain, so GoDaddy and MM both got it right. What did I do wrong? Thanks, someone... anyone?

This is now sort of resolved, but not very satisfactorily. One of the trainers at my local Appple Store found an old support issue in the archives going back to 2008, which blamed security settings for update problems. Coincidental with associating MobileMe with my personal domain, I had checked the privacy box and added an ID and PW to the site. That was the problem, not the personal domain, that was preventing iWeb from finding my MM account. Uncheck that box and my site happily updates. Of course, now I have a site that I cannot make private. In this case, not a show-stopper, but disappointing. I have reported it as a bug in the latest version of iWeb. Thanks for your help.

Problems with JCWDE in Win98 (Please help)

I am using the Win98, Sun's JDK 1.3.0, I have also "installed" the JC development KIT 2.1.2, and the CommAPI (from which I can run the BlackBox Examples Properly).
The problems are the following and I hope that you might be able to help:
1) the build_samples needed some modification and only after after that I managed to get the examples compiled, etc.
2) When I try to run the jcwde -p 9025 jcwde.app example from the /demo directory I get the following error messages:

I suspect something is wrong with the classpath but everything looks fine to me and I don't really know why I am getting this error message.

I also looked into Sun's forum and I have followed the instraction from below, I have also followed the installation instructions in the JC manual.

See do you have the java card Developers kit user's Guide with
you just go to page no 9 . you must be giving the jcwde -p 9025
jcwde.app command ok .
The first most important thing check if you are in demo dir This
is most important .Also check if you set the JC21bin environment
variable to bin subdirectory.Most of the time bcos of this you
get that error so you have to make sure you have set the
environment variable correct .

The JavaPurse.class file is in the specified directory.
The problem is that even if I try to load another file (Wallet) which is compiled manually (not through the build.bat) file I got the same error message.
It is true that the build.bat file for the JC2.1.2 needs some minor modifications in order to work otherwise it doesn't work in windows. I am surpised how it is released for the windows version without being properly tested.
Is the JC2.1.1 version more stable to use ???

Skype problems with Airport Extreme after update

I use Skype to call regular phones and landlines. For over a year now it has worked well with my Airport Extreme, however, I noticed that around the same time I updated my Airport utility to 5.5.2 and Mac OS X update on 1/7/11 I am having problems with audio getting scrambled, the person on the other end dropping out, and my voice dropping out of their calls and the sound of me "being in a long tunnel," as they describe it. If I plug the ethernet directly into my computer there is no problem so I know it is the Airport base station.
I have tried plugging and unplugging the base station and I had comcast reset my cable modem but nothing seems to be working. I have 12 mbps internet so I know it is not a bandwidth problem.

Indeed I have the same problem. I ended up buying a new router because I thought mine was malfunctioning. After buying the latest generation Airport Extreme, turns out it's having the same problem. I agree that it was not a problem until 5.5.2. Also, I use YouSendIt constantly and it also chokes the Airport Extreme. It appears to happen in scenarios of high bandwidth usage.
5.5.3 maybe coming soon?

PROBLEM WITH DATABASE CONFIGURATION ASSISTANT

Hello, i've a problem with a Oracle DB 10g Personal Edition connected to Oracle BPEL 10.1.2.0 on the same machine with WINXP home edition service pack2.
Both installations were very difficult, but now my problems is that when i launch the DCA and follow the wizard, at the ended i've this message and the creation fails:
UNABLE TO FIND ERROR %ORACLE_HOME%\RDBMS\opw<lang>.msb
Can anyone help me?

well, before i don't restarted the machine...now, with restart, i've set a both paths in Oracle_Home.

C:\oracle\10.1.0\Db_1
I've installed, in two different directory, Oracle Database 10g Personal Edition, and Oracle BPEL 10.1.2.0.0
The BPEL is connect with DB and it executes sql statement -sqlplus works here now- but the patch procedure don't works now. The patching is needed.
The slqsplus and DCA from DB don't works.

Pages '09 problem with index

Hi all,
So this is my problem, i'm editing ePub to publish in the Apple iBooks Store, and do them with Pages, but i've big problems with index
i'm using personal styles (as i change chapter colors, font size)
in "old Pages" i could not do index as it was telling me i was not using none of the style in index (even with my proper styles markeds, now when i create index in the style box my styles doesn't show soo it can't create index)
In Pages '09, i have no problem to create index, the problem is when i export to ePub it does not show it
or when it was shoing it, in the normal index, i could also see it in the book as a normal page, and i want it only in the normal ebook index.
any suggestions?

then i make my peronal style using the color i whant for chapter title... this is ok
but still hane the enoying index as normal page....(pic 1) only what pic 2
if i find a solution, will post it, if you find it, and also how to change the color of the index text (it is supposed to be change to black...)

Installing Designer 6 on NT With Oracle8 Personal Edition

According to the Designer 6 For Windows NT installation guide, I can have Personal Oracle 8.0.4 as a local database for use with Designer 6. However I am unable to successfully install these due to:
1. Designer and the Pre-Configured Repository must reside in the default_home directory.
2. The Pre-Configured Repository must reside in the same Oracle Home Directory as the local database - therefore Personal Oracle8 must reside in the default_home directory also.
3. Designer needs the 8.0.5 required support files whereas Oracle8 Personal Edition needs the 8.0.4 required support files to work.
Thus, is my problem. As I can not install both 8.0.4 and 8.0.5 support files into the same Oracle home, how can I get to use Designer 6 with a local 8.0.4 database on NT, as it suggests in the Designer installation guide?

1. First Yout NT server must have Nt ver.4 with Service pack 5 built in
2.All Y have to do is to Installed Web App
Server on Different Physical location(With Oracle 8i) as different NT user with administrative privileges(Different from the user Y installed 8i RDBMS ).
3. Set TNS_ADMIN parameter for NT Server.
4.Set up the tnsname.ora and sqlnet.ora file
on web app home ,(ie %ORACLE_HOME%\net80\admin ) as same as those on your Oracle DB HOme ,(ie %ORACLE_HOME%/network/admin )
After this if You follow the installation guide ,Post installation task ,
Every thing will work..

Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

Intermittent problem with Personal Hotspot

I think either my iPad 2 or my iPhone 4 is mental. Can anyone convince me otherwise?
For some months now I have been experiencing an intermittent problem with tethering my iPad 2 to my iPhone 4 Personal Hotspot.
Sometimes it works without a hitch (although I have to turn the Personal Hotspot on the phone off and on again to get iPad to 'see' it) and at others, like now, it shows me the message 'Unable to join the network 'iPhone'. It throws the message up so quickly that even though it 'sees' the phone in the list of networks, it behaves as though it can't actually be bothered to even try to connect.
I have tried reboots and restarts, 'forgetting' the network, changing passwords, sacrificing a chicken... all the usual stuff. But still when it gets in this kind of mood it stubbornly refuses to do anything. I have even taken it to the Apple store where, not surprisingly it worked first time and the assistant looked at me as though I was an idiot. It then proceeded not to work for a couple of days again as if punishing me. There is no problem with the general Wi-Fi connection as I have another phone (an Android) that I run as a Hotspot too. It has never once had a problem connecting to this or any other Wi-Fi connection..
Confusingly, and rather irritatingly, after a few days of this not-connecting lark it will have a few days of not having a problem connecting at all. I won't have changed any settings on either iPad or iPhone and so I have no way of figuring out why this is happening. This has been the same situation with all versions of iOS I have installed ever since buying the phone in April 2012, and the iPad in June 2012.
Please, is there anyone out in the ether that can suggest a solution to this? Or is one of my Apple products simply mad? I have given both devices a strong talking-to, but this hasn't sorted the problem either. Next, I think I might have to try sacrificing a goat.

I have the same issues with my iPhone 5 (6.1.4). I do not have an answer for you, and perhaps my "workaround" will lead someone with more knowledge about these things to offer us more information.
When I turn on the Personal Hotspot and it does not show up as visible on my iPad or MacBook, or offers that ambiguous message about being unavle to join the network, I perform a few steps that almost always resolves it. I have to go through these steps twice sometimes. The order of operations seems to affect the outcome (at least it appears to me that it does)
Turn off WiFi on the client device (iPad, MacBook, Windows laptop, KindleFire, etc)
Turn off Personal Hotspot on iPhone
Turn off Bluetooth on iPhone
Turn off WiFi on iPhone
Then turn on Personal Hotspot and allow it to automatically start WiFi and Bluetooth.
Turn on the client WiFi services.
Connection successful!
As I said, I sometimes need to perform the steps ablve twice, but it eventually works. It is incredibly frustrating to go through these hoops to make the device perform. I do not know precisely when the problem began to occur, but I don't think it did not occur on my iPhone 4s with IOS5.
Any help from the Apple guys would be appreciated. I think it is a software issue, because the shutdown of services and restart seems to resolve the issue. I guess I might take a trip to the Aple Store to have them look at this behavior.

Hi - it depends on how old your iPhone is. Is it fairly new or if its less than 28 days old you can bring it back to the store if bought through one of the common networks. I had an earpiece problem when I bought mine after just 10 days or so, I couldn't hear anyone through the earpiece and exchanged in store for Free.

Problem with Oracle8i Lite and Forms 6i

I have installed first Oracle8i Lite Version 4.0.0.2.0 on my computer witch has no network card and it works wery well with The Open Client Adapter (OCA).
Then, I have installed Oracle Forms and Reports Release 6i, and from this moment, I get this message : "OCA-30002: ubofscr function not supported".
In the release notes, I can read :
"OCA Release 6.0.5.3.0 is installed for compatibility with Oracle Required Support Files version 8.0.5. If you install newer client tools which upgrade your Required Support Files to version 8.0.5.1, you may experience an error message, "OCA-30002: ubofscr function not supported". To upgrade OCA to correct this problem, copy the OCA605290.zip file from the \WIN32 folder of the Oracle8i Lite CD-ROM, unzip it and follow the instructions in the README.TXT file which it contains."
But on my Oracle8i Lite CD-ROM, there is no OCA605290.zip file from the \WIN32 folder.
What can I do ?

You could try to "hide" the db-link by creating a local view above the dblink-table.
