Problems with Tuxedo8.0 under Windows 2003 Server

Hello All.
Could you please help me?
When we were choosing which OS to install on our Tuxedo developers server we
decided
to try Windows 2003 server. We did not suppose that we could have any
problems
with this choise. But we have!
We use it with DB 7.2 workgroup edition and Tuxedo 8.0 (PatchLevel 172).
When one of server processes crashes (for example by exit(1) or by
exception)
(it happend not so rarely, because this server is actively used in
development
and testing processes) we cannot restart this server process!
When I write "restartsrv -i SrvId" in command line nothing happens.
When I write "tmboot -i SrvId" it says "Duplicate server".
When I write "tmshutdown -i SrvId" it just hangs and I have to wait for 10
minutes
while it says "CMDTUX_CAT:949: WARN: Shutdown failed. 0 processes stopped."
Tuxedo WebAdministration conlsole says almost the same - "Failed to
deactivate SRVGROUP/200
(still in state ACTIVE)-10:CMDTUX_CAT:1689: ERROR: Could not shutdown any
servers".
As a result any server crash (including expected) leads to 15 minutes
waiting!!!
As you understand it cound not be accepted!... and it is very annoying. :-)
This problem never happened under Windows 2000 server (a week before I
returned from site
installation where this software works fine under Windows 2000 server).
How can we solve this problem?
Or should we downgrade our OS to Windows 2000?
With regards,
Dmitry.

Dmitry,
Try a bbclean from the tmadmin command line to clean up the BBL so you will be
able to restart the server using the tmboot command.
In addition to this check the values for SCANUNIT and SANITYSCAN in the ubbconfig.
The observation that it takes 15 minutes for TUXEDO to discover that your server
has crashed suggests they have values that might be too high.

I'm having problem with shares on Windows 2003R2 server from a Windows 8.1 PC.  It times out when I try to copy a file from my PC to the server and I get an error message saying "There is a problem accessing network drive W:\. Make sure you are
connected to the network and try again."
I have no problem copying files from the server to the PC.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
How about your problem now? Have you test other machine also installed Windows 8.1? Did they have this problem?
To diagnose this problem, firstly, please check Windows 2003R2 firewall settings, also can disable firewall temporarilly for test.
Secondly, try to use Network Monitor to capture network communication package for test.

  • TNS problems in 9i on Windows 2003 Server

    Goody day
I have installed Oracle9i Database (and 9i Developer Suite) onto an HP ML370 Server running Windows 2003 Server. My problem is that wherever I need to use the username / password for things like sqlplus, forms, imp, etc I get SERVICE_NAME errors, TNS adaptor protocol errors, Can't resolve SERVICE_NAME and many more in that description field.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    William

You need to look in the listener.ora for the db you want to connect to (did you create one after installing Database product?). Then you need to verify that entries in tnsnames.ora of both DB and DS homes "matches" with listener.ora.
Other than that, it is more likely to have a chance to help out if you provide some details of actions taken and corresponding errors (exact codes and messages).

  • Acrobat reader X with thunderbird under windows 2008 server

    Hi,
i use acrobat reader X under windows 2008 R2 . My Mailclient is thunderbird.
I get an error when trying to send an E-Mail. "Acrobat could not get a connection to your e-mail programm".
I defined thunderbrid as the standard mailprogramm under START->CONTROLPANEL->STANDARD-PROGRAMMS
I already tried to google the solution, but the only one i found was for Windows VISTA and Windows 7. There, you have not only to define the STANDARDPROGRAMM, you either need to make a change on "default programms and computerstandards" which is missing in windows 2008 R2
Can anyone please tell me how to use acrobat with thunderbrid in a windows 2008 environment????
    Thank you

    Hi Michael,
sorry for using the wrong forum. I'll post my question to the Reader board ...
To answer your question. That was my idea too, but it is not possible to copy a whole profile. They are a lot of other problems if you do that. I didn't find the settings only. may it would be enough to copy the settings for the reader.

  • Problems with GUI under Windows-NT

    Hi friends,
I've created a Java-Application which works fine under Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux and Solaris.
The only problem I have is with Windows NT.
When the application starts, the window will open but doesn't display any content. The application is
working (as I can use keybord-input, keybord-shortcuts and so on), but no display besides an empty

I tried different Look&Feels, but no change....
Do you have any ideas what could be wrong?
    Thanks a lot,

  • JRE/JDK 1.3.1_19 Not working with OS Patched Windows 2003 Server DST 2007

    Hello:
We are trying to upgrade our 1.3.1_03 application with 1.3.1_19. It worked fine in a machine (WIndows Server 2003) where OS was not patched for DST. However, as far as I could see if the OS is patched the DST compliant java (1.3.1_19) is not working.
I go to the jre/bin and try to do a java -version and I see nothing from OS patched machine.
Non-OS Patched machines, it works and I could see the java version.
    Has anybody faced this problem?
    Really appreciate any suggestion.

  • Identity Server under Windows 2003

    Hi All,
can I run Identity server under Windows 2003 Server ? And, is planed Identity server version for Linux ?
    Thank You
    Lada D.

A 4.0.1 backup can be restored on the new server - even if it is running 4.1 or 4.2. I don't believe the backup will carry over anything specific to the old server's IP address. I'd recommend that you keep the same hostname (DNS-wise) - especially for things like the server's SSL certificate - although that too won't be part of the application backup so you can give the new server a new name if the customer is strongly set on that.
Note that you may change to soft appliance platform at this point. If the customer has a VMWare environment available, I'd strongly suggest considering this option. the soft appliance is a breeze to install and setup.
In either case, please refer to the installation guide for details.

  • Windows 2003 server?

Sorry for the silly question.. does iTunes work under windows 2003 server? I installed it and I had no problems or error messages, but when I try to make the program run nothing happens. The cursor stays on wait for 10 seconds then nothing. Even putting a CD in does not produce effects of any sort. Strange thing. Seems the hardware is fully compatible and the itunes software is up to date.
Many thanks to anybody willing to give me a clue.

    thankyou very much for replying
there are some problems associated with a conflict
between Windows update KB908531 and QuickTime
on Server 2003 ... but you're not currently reporting
the typical symptoms of that issue.
let me just do some preliminary explicit
    doublechecking before we proceed.
are you getting an error message? if so, what
does it say? include error message numbers if you're
    getting any.
or are you getting no error messages
whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
no error messages, nor in installation, neither in launching
if you're getting no error messages
whatsoever, do you just see the wee hourglass for
a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also
have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed
    on that PC?
I see the hourglass for some seconds (5-10, depending on what the machine is doing) and then the cursor gets back to normal.
Apparently no NIS2005 on it. If it is, doesnt seem running. If you can tell me the name of the executable I can check again but doesnt seem even installed actually. Checked both Norton and Symantec things.
or are you seeing a brief "flash" of the itunes
license screen (and then nothing)? if so, do you also
see similar behavior when you try to launch your
QuickTime? (check on whether or not you get a
flash of the screen with QT just in case, even if you
don't get the flash with itunes.)
not with itunes, unless it's so fast my eye cant catch it
OMG. OK. I swear that no attempts have been made and no reboots in the middle but TAH DAH it works. WHY! The only thing I did in the middle is opening QT (checking for your previous question) but about the rest nothing changed. Maybe this is the key: install itunes, if it doesnt work, open QT (not the one you had but the new one) then itunes will work itself. bah. I hate this you are not always aware of what's going on or what happened. maybe this is why Im a linux user since years.. but this one is gf's computer so Im forced to get back to windows somehow she would kill me if I was to install linux from scratch on her computer
There's just a problem of corrupted file in \ipod_control\itunes\temp and it suggests to use the old-fashioned chkdsk utility.
OK trying to work it out, will let you know later.
Thank you again and sorry for the thing, but I would have been happy to avoid disturbing if it was working at first..

  • Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition,  Oracle process needs 5 Gb memory

    Hi
Actually i'm under Windows 2003 server Standard Edition and Oracle Standard 9.2.0.6.
I need to have for my oracle process (User Process) a large amount of memory. (>= 5 Gb) probably 3 Gb for the PGA and 2 Gb for the SGA. (roughly).
I'm looking on AWE 4GT etc... Microsoft is'nt clear about this.
People with a similar experiment? Is it necessary to migrate under Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edittion ?
All informations and experiences are welcome.
    Regards
    Den

Before considering ways to overcome process addressing limits (32-bit process virtual address space), Windows Server Std Ed can use/see maximum 4 GB RAM. You cant fit 5GB Oracle Server memory + other stuff + OS in that. I guess your only options are EE 32-bit or Std Ed x64, if you have the hardware.
But, staying on the 32-bit path, it will be hard to achieve confilicting objects of large memory areas. Remember that process virtual space is 4GB regardless of how much RAM the hardware (and OS) can manage.

  • Configuring Windows 2003 Server so Oracle Xe use one Processor exclusivly

    Hello every body
I am running Oracle Xe data base on a biprocessor under Windows 2003 server .
    My question is :
Is there a mean to tell windows 2003 server to reserve one processor to Oracle Xe
exclusivly. The other processor will handle operating system processes.
    Thanks in advance

    user470017,
I believe in Task Manager you can select a process , right-click and then set the Processor Affinity for that process (i.e. tell that process which processor you want it to run on).
Generally though, you don't need to tie a process to a particular processor since the operating system should be smart enough to figure out how to balance the processes out between the available processors.
Are you experiencing some performance issues?

  • Installing problem on Windows 2003 Server 64 bit

    Dear All,
I'am trying to install XE onto a Windows 2003 Server 64 bit.. The installation process ends without any errors but the database itself seems not to start.
I tried several hints that have been mentioned here within the forum. But none of them worked. While experimenting I saw that there is not a single registry entry of Oracle within HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\Software .
Is there a possiblity to set those needed registry entries manually? Is there a script for that purpose?
Thank you very much for your help!
    Regards
    Matthias

    Hi,
thank you for your reply. As 32bit programs should run under Windows 64bit I thought the XE should run under 64bit, too.
The installation of XE itself seems to finish without any errors. But within the log files it can be read that the database has not started up due to a out of memory problem. This causes many log entries within all other logfiles as no database could be created.
The out of memory problem might be the same as within Advice on running XE on a small virtual Linux host ("Virtuozzo") because I am using a virtual windows 2003 server with "Virtuozzo", too.
At this time I am on discussing the issue with the provider. Maybe I will get a dedicated server with Windows Server 2003 64bit. Hopefully the XE could be installed on the 64bit Windows Server because 32bit dedicated servers are rare.
    Best regards

Whenever time I connect my iphone 5S to this computer, it always pops up an error message "This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again"

  • Problem on installation of windows 2003 Standard Ed. 64 bit with 10 GB RAM

    Hi,
I'm trying to install the Oracle 10G R2 on Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition 64 bit on HP machine 64 bit.
My problem is that the Oracle is seeing just 4GB of RAM.
I found some Oracle notes that explain this problem for machine and OS with 32 bit.
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Sergio

    Are you installing Oracle 32-bit?
(In that case, the process virtual memory addressing is limited to 2^32 = 4GB. Note also it is virtual, not physical memory)
64-bit editions (e.g. for X64) are available from:

  • Space Problem in G: - after NW2004s SR1 installation on Windows 2003 server

    HI Friends,
I have installed NW2004s SR1 on Windows 2003 server with Oracle 10g database successfully. My server has sufficient harddisk space as follows.
    C: 9.6GB
    G: 24GB
    H:64GB & I: 73GB.
    RAM is 6GB
While installing NW2004s i have defined a paging size on C: 400MB-1600MB and
i have set the option as System Manageble on other drives G, H& I drives. I did not get any Swap space problem while installing.
During installation I have chosen G: drive to store MirrorlogA, MirrorlogB, Oraarch, OriglogA, OriglogB folders of Oracle for redolog archives,.Total size of all these folders is 17.4 GB
G: drive has one more folder Program files which is of 155KB  and no other files exist in it.
But My system says that I am running out of Space on G: drive and free space available now is only 44MB.
My question is where has the rest 5GB of space gone? Is it consumed as a part of Paging file which i have set on this drive as System manageble??
I have set the same option on other drives too i..e H & I. But i am not facing any space issues for these drives.
What could be going wrong?? Please suggest me how to correct this
    Thanks
