Problems with upgrading to imovie4 after running fine with imovie3

I have a friend who works with imovie 3. She has a iMac flat screen 800mhz with 512mb ram. She has made about nine movies using imovie3 and everything was working fine. She then tried to upgrade to iMovie4 (I know dont fix it if aint broke) and now her movies are all choppy, if you try to run the whole movie. It is fine however if you run a couple three frames at a time. It is almost like it gets overwelmed and starts and stops. We tried going back to imovie3 with no success (this was after a format/ reinstall of her osx 10.3).
I tried these movies on my machine (mac mini 1.5ghz with 512mb ram) using imovie 4 and they seem to run almost flawlessly). Can someone please shed some light on this as I am clueless on how to move forward.

     I did try everything on the FAQ page (all steps) I also did them a few more times with "Adobe help" walking me through 2 more times. I just don't get it, I have been on with Adobe on some days up to 5 hours at a time for over a month now. I think it must be something with the installation disc but they say no, no, switchboard is just not working on my OS X 10.9.4. I even took the computer into the apple store here and had them look it over, reinstall everything and they say it's the Adobe software.
     Thank you very much for your help, it's nice to know someone is reading this :-) I do work around this by saving the files and reopening them in the next program I need but everyone in class is always waiting on me, (it sucks) and I just think it should work. Hope you have a good day and I will put an update on here if this is ever figured out.

K8ngm2 no video after running fine - same problem twice already

I recently bought a new MSI K8NGM2 and an AMD 3200+ Athlon 64. I assembled the thing last week and it was up and running fine until about friday when there was a blackout. When I attempted to turn on the PC it had no video and the PC Speaker sounded like a lot of static. I quickly tried to "discharge" by unplugging the power cord and holding the power button. I also tried reseating everything. After all those attempts I removed the Motherboard and RMA'd it.
Fast forward today, I installed the new one and it was up and running for a few hours. I left it on while it was updating Windows. When i go to his room i find out that his pc is on the startup memory/cpu/hard disk detection screen and it has "jaggies" / weird discolored pixels all over or something similar to what happens when a vid card Fan stops working. I restart it and it has no video. I'm convinced that its the motherboard again (he uses the onboard Geforce 6100 as video). Like the previous time, there were no beeps or so at start up.
What could cause this though? It has happened in two different occasions with the same brand new board. Any ideas?

i had a friend whose psu kept blowing mobo's up. we got one rma'd, put the new one in and it wouldnt work. thinking it was a bad rma we sent it back in.
the next time we got one we did the same thing and got nothing... back to rma. the next one we got we tried it in another machine and it worked.
We were about to put it back in his machine, when i thought of changing the psu, just in case, u know out of the blue thing! it worked okay.
How did we find out it was the psu? I tried the psu in another machine and it failed to work after that...

EDRV refers to a low-level driver error. Usually the driver cannot get a hold of some system resource. A system call failed. The OS-specific error code is placed in ibcnt.

Also, make sure to call ibonl (ud,0) to close any open handles that are not used.

Won't bootup after running fine.

Hello all, I had installed leopard on Friday night and it was running great. However this morning I go to bootup my macbook and all I get is a mouse pointer and a blue screen. I can reboot into "safe mode" but that is hardly a solution. I have left it sitting their and I have also hard rebooted it multiple times. Anyideas?

I tried to upgrade oracle Database 10.2.0.4.0 to 11.1.0.7.0, following these documentations:

After running the dbua, which finished successfully, I tried to connect to the db but realised that the version was still the same, 10.2.0.4.0 .

I run the dbua from the Ora11gdbhome. Path is set to the 11g directory. The logs of dbua didn' t present any errors and what is recorded to have been created is of version 11.

I haven' t done an upgrade to a different version before and I am not sure whether I there is something I missed...

Code runs fine in debug mode but hangs when compiled in release mode

I am struggling with the following problem. I have code which runs fine when it is executed in debug mode. However, when I compile it in release mode and run the executable, the code freezes and does not work. The code acquires images from a Hamamatsu camera. In the debug mode I am able to continuously acquire images. However, in the release version, the code hangs after acquiring the first image.
I am using LabWindows/CVI version 7.
I would greatly appreciate if I can get any help/suggestions in resolving this problem?

If you search this forum for "debug release crash" or "release version crash" or similar phrases, you'll find that this is a pretty common question. Look through the other posts you find here to see if anything is applicable to you.
The debug version does some things like padding variables so you can sometimes overrun your declared variable space without overwriting the next variable. In the release, the variables are packed, so if you overrun one, you are overwriting another. Just one possible difference.
You can do some things in your release code to see where things get lost, like (temporarily using printf statements after multiple statements at the start and end of your loop to try to identify that failing line of code.
Look through other threads to find other ideas.

When running my program to control a measurement, everything works fine.
The program can communicate with all the GPIB devices. When I start
the program again (without rebooting Win2K), from time to time it
refuses to communicate with the GPIB units. Now I found out it helps
to start MAX2.2 (Measurement & Automation Explorer) and to scan the GPIB
bus. MAX identifies all devices without problems and my LabVIEW program
also runs fine now...
So why do I have to call MAX to have my LabVIEW program have a communication
via GPIB?

Do you use VISA or regular GPIB functions? If use VISA, you may have
to close it properly when your software exit, oth

I did that. I reinstalled iTunes 10.5. Everything seemed fine, but when I try to plug in and copy a CD to my iPhone 4S an error message reads roughly: 'iPhone 4S requires iTunes 10.5 or higher to work.'
What might be the problem with my audio configuration?
Why doesn't my iPhone 4S work with iTunes 10.5? It used to work with iTunes 10.5.

Try going into your settings and 'reset all settings'
You will need to retweak your device but it's been said to help with sound issues.

Can you upgrade to this version and see whether the crash stil exists?

Problem with Lion upgrade after running Migration Assistant

I have a MacBook Pro that I purchased earlier this year. I bought a new MacBook Air yesterday.
I used Migration Assistant to migrate some of my data/settings from my old MacBook Pro to the new MacBook Air. After the migration, all of my original data was still available on the MacBook Pro (good as I wanted to keep a copy on the MacBook Pro and not all data was migrated). The new MacBook Air received all the right data and is working well.
I then purchased a Lion upgrade for my MacBook Pro and started the installation process. The installation process seemed to be going fine, but the MacBook Pro eventually hung. I let it "run" overnight hoping that it would finish the process, but the machine was still hanging a day later. I forced the MacBook Pro to shut down using the power button. Now, when I restart the MacBook Pro, I get the "Mac OS X Utilities" screen asking if I want to Restore from Time Machine Backup, Reinstall Mac OS X, Get Help Online, or Disk Utility. Does this mean my data is not longer available on the MacBook Pro? Also, I do/did have the MacBook Pro connected to a Time Machine and it had up-to-date backups at the time I ran Migration Assistant. However, I noticed that after running Migration Assistant, the MacBook Pro was complaining that it was no longer connect to the Time Machine.
My instinct tells me that I should attempt to restore the MacBook Pro using the Time Machine backup, but I'm wondering if it might be able to revive the MacBook Pro without having to take that step. Or, maybe I should select the "Reinstall Mac OS X" option first? Any ideas?
If I need to use the Time Machine backup, do I need to do anything special given the post Migration Assistant behavior I described above?

How can I fool Time Machine into using the original Backup Folder and just doing an incremental backup?
You can't. after using MA on it you have to start a new backup sequence. you can change computer name in Sharing preferences to anything you like but it won't affect TM backups.

Hi.....my laserjet 1536dnf mfp was working perfectly with win 8 pro....then I installed win 8.1 pro and now the computer ,which is part of a network,can not communicate with the scanner of the printer--it prints just fine. On another computer (running win 7 ) on the same network, the scanner and all other printer functions work just fine.
I have tried installing the latest drivers from HP......scanner still not "communicating" with computer.....also temporarily disabled firewall.....please help...all the best -David G (gossat)
