Problems with video and iTunes 7.0
I recently upgraded to iTunes 7.0 (and quicktime as well) and everything seems to work ok except the videos I have on my iPod will not play, in fact my iPod shows that I have no videos, but my library shows them and I can view them through my computer; just not my iPod. Any ideas out there?
Gman
PC Windows XP Sony VAIO PCV-RX860
I'm also having similar problems (audio becomes unsync'd and often playback begins stuttering), but found a work-around. In my case these are video podcasts, so here's what I've been doing. Right-click the podcast and select "Show in Windows Explorer." The file will be highlighted so double-click it to have it played by QuickTime. Some file types may not be registered with QT, so if you get prompted to pick the program to use with the file, select the QuickTime Player.
For some strange reason, the videos play back perfectly OUTSIDE of iTunes 7.0.1.8 (also happened in 7.0). So I don't think it's any of the pat answers that ignore iTunes as a culprit.

I am having problems with video and high content webpages freezing. I am also getting pixel lines across my webpages. Maybe two or three lines. I was running os 10.4 but I just up graded to 10.6 the other day. I have 2GB of RAM.
Exactlly which model iMac do you have?
see > How to identify iMac models
Unfortunately that is not all that uncommon for the Early Intel iMac's given there age and the fact that the air intakes are probably choked with dust. Then add the extra heat caused by running a more intense OS X which is causing it to run a little warmer than normal and putting extra stress on the graphic and display components.
My 6½ year old 17" Early 2006 Core Duo w/2GB of RAM is also running 10.6.8 and is also starting to get a single line that (knock on wood) goes away after a few minutes, while many others started getting permanent ones after 2 or 3 years. One thing that I think has helped, is that about every 3 or 4 months I shutdown and vigorously vacuum out the bottom grill work and small vent under the stand to keep it running cool.
On that note: unfortunately I can only suggest that you clean your intake vents and hope that no permanent or irreversible damage has been done. -
Problem with podcasts and iTunes 6.0.1.3
Hi everybody!
First of all, please excuse my poor English: I'm French. I'll try to do my best to write as well as I can.
I have some difficulties with podcasts and iTunes 6.0.1.3.
When I "sign up" (FR: "s'abonner") to some podcasts, they are not updated in my iPod nano indeed (and some others are), although iTunes says: "Your iPod is updated" (FR: "Votre iPod est à jour").
I have no way to put these podcasts episodes in my iPod...
Could you help me please?
Thanks in advance for your help!Hi iFriend,
try this, it worked for me:
1) first of all, uninstall QuickTime and older versions of iTunes from your PC, using the "remove" button in the "install applications" tool that you find in the windows control panel.
2) reboot the system
3) turn off the windows firewall application; go into the windows control panel, double click on windows firewall and disable the firewall option
4) if you have one, disable your Anti-Virus application; i mean its real-time protection.
5) probably it's not necessary, but for being sure... download and launch the standalone installer of QuickTime (latest version)
6) download and launch the iTunes + QuickTime installer from this web address
7) as an option, i suggest you to download and install also iTunes Art Importer. It's a nice application, that allows you to import from the internet directly into iTunes the album ArtWorks of the selected tracks in iTunes. I installed it, and it works very well with iTunes 6.
8) after all the installations, remember to enable both firewall and anti-virus previously disabled!
as i said, probably the 5th passage is not necessary, but i did it and it worked!
if you have any questions or feedbacks, just relpy to this topic. stay iTuned!
bye, bye,

Problem with videos and only one album playback
Hey everyone.
I'm having two problems.First off, there's one album on my iPod that plays weird. It sounds like it's skipping, but not like what I'm seeing a lot of you having problems with when it goes to the next song instead of finishing the current one.Mine sounds like a CD skipping, only it's constant and all throughout the song and sounds horrible,it ruins the song.It only does it with one album though, and it's my favorite album by my favorite band,so I'm kinda bummed.I initially had three songs on this album that I brought over from Windows Media Player after uploading it onto the from my CD about two years before I got the iPod.I later added a few more and they do the same thing.I'm wondering if it's a problem with the licensing, since it's only this album, because that's the same way I got most of my other songs and they're fine.I tried deleting them and re-uploading them from the CD,but that didn't help.Tried converting the file to AAC;that didn't help either.I'm utterly befuddled.
The second question is that I've got two videos I downloaded from Limewire that I converted to iPod format and everything you're supposed to do,but I can only get the video and not the audio. My video podcasts work fine,it's just these two I'm having a problem with.Any help would be greatly appreciated. On the second question...
If the videos are multiplexed MPEG files then the audio and the video are muxed onto the same track. QuickTime, and therefore any application that uses QT like iTunes, the iPod, iMovie (Mac app), etc. expect two separate tracks, one video and one audio. So when you play these muxed files, the video is played and the audio is not heard.
So you need to do a conversion on the file first. MPEG Streamclip is a popular one that comes in both Mac and Windows versions and is known to "repair" this problem.
See this other link for other applications that might be able to do the same thing. But your root cause is the muxed MPEG files.

Hi
Can anyone please help me I installed Itunes latest version and updated the old version on the PC. Now when I connect my ipod it showsin the side bar of itunes only to give a message saying it is in recovery mode and I need to restore factory settings. After having done this reluctantly - it is supposed to then be visible after the ipod has rebooted in itunes - it isn't and if I connect again says the same thing about recovery mode. I now have an ipod that effectively has nothing on it and I cannot use has any had the same problem or got any ideas?
Many Thanks
KarenHave you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod. -
Many problems with Vista and Itunes--slowing and crashing
Okay, so itunes has never worked right on my computer. I have a Comaq Persario V6000 with the Centrino duo. These are some of the problems I have with Itunes:
1. will not play initially on start up. I need to close itunes, open it again and then sometimes it plays.
2. Sometime itunes never opens, no matter how many times I click on the icon.
3. Runs very slowly at times. Might take 30 seconds for a rating to appear after I've clicked on it.
4. Crashes completely.
I've tried reinstalling itunes numerous times to no avail. I'm also using the newest itunes version. Every other program works fine on my computer, except itunes. Any help is appreciated. I'm at my wits end. I love my ipod but I hate itunes.Hmmm. Looked around and tried all the tips and tricks. Nothing works basically. Even took the PC to pieces and plugged in my old graphics card (totally different make and drivers etc). No success. Mucked around with the memory, BIOS setup etc. Even read people in the same boat having no success reinstalling XP! Grief... Luckily I have a laptop to use for the iPod. Bit of a pain (should get a second cable really), but should work, esp with my portable 300gb drive. Annoying, buy hey....
Oh, and I got the superman returns mp4 to play in a window from the website. After watching it through the windows player I selected the QuickTime version of the movie and waited for BSOD. Nope, played fine (much better quality too). Ok I thought, perhaps I've fixed it, play the downloaded version on the desktop. Nope, BSOD ****. ****....
Hmmm, notice all the Apple gurus here loading up with tips and suggestions. Aha. Honestly anything more than "How do you get Britneys picture to appear?" and they don't want to know. Typical....
Good luck.

Problems with videos and music requires restore
I have a 30GB Video and in general everything works fine. However, I have had to restore the device 4x since Christmas due to the following;
When I select a video, the display shows the play icon and battery icon then goes blank and returns to the list of videos and/or when selecting a song, it displays the song I selected (with artwork) and then scrolls through the list of songs in that play list and does nothing.
I can resolve the issue by restoring and syncing, but the problem eventually returns.
5th Generation 30GB Video Windows XP USB connectionIn case anyone else has this issue, I found the solution. The problem was caused by my earbuds. I bought a new pair and that fixed the problem.

This page should show you the default info for accessing the Belkin
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Belkin/F5D8231-4/iChat.ht m
It should not need the Port Forwarding (I Believe UPnP is in System Settings at the bottom of the menu on the left)
Also check the settings in the various menus for Blocking responses to Internet Pings.
If it has it you want to disable this.
Error 7 is also caused by DOS or SPI filters.
If this device has these it should be turned off.
I tested with someone only yesterday that had one of these and it worked out of the box (well he only turned UPnP on)

Connecting Problems with iPhone and iTunes. Help please?
When I connect my iPhone 4 to my laptop (Toshiba), I have a huge issue with connecting and syncing my phone on iTunes. During the time it is plugged and attached to my laptop, I can charge it and sync photos that are on my device to the compter, but I can not get it to sync with iTunes. Also, I do not know what my iTunes is fuctioning at (6.1- 7.1- 8.etc), but I did updated it about a month ago. Does anyone have any information and /or/ helpful advice on this topic?
Thank you!Hi CookiCat,

Thanks, I have been having problems with the wi-Fi connection in the house, it's been intermittent, I can use the internet through Google or Safari on my iPad but can't get these updates done.

Having problems with Video and Audio
Hi - I am new to Captivate. I have created a demostration with about 85 slides with audio on each slide. When I preview the project all is fine. When I publish the swf and htm and play on my machine all is fine. However when my colleagues try and listen to the demo, the video and audio get out of sync. The audio seems to go faster than the video. I am not sure if it is due to the sound speeding up or the video slowing down. Has anybody seen this bfore ? Can anybody help ? I am using Captivate 4 with the latest patch
Hi there
I've seen others suggest that adjusting the audio clips for each slide so they begin playing at perhaps .1 or .2 seconds after the slide begins solves the issue.
Perhaps you will have good luck with this approach as well.
Cheers... Rick

NO PHONE TAB IN ITUNES PREFS problem with V3i and iTunes
Hey everyone. Just got a V3i and it won't mount in iTunes. It mounts on my desktop, and iSync, but not in iTunes. In iTunes Preferences I don't see the Phone tab. There's iPod, Parental, Music Store, Sharing,Advanced and all that but no Phone Tab. I've tried formatting the card several times, reset the phone, repaired permissions, and changed the cable. Nothing has worked. I just find it strange that iTunes Prefs does not show the Phone Tab to make edits. I have the Phone driver kext and the latest iTunes 6.0.5 also installed. Anyone with this problem solved please help. Thanx.
iMacintel, Dual 500 G4, Converted G4 Pismo Powerbook Mac OS X (10.4.7)The setup has changed a bit. With your iPod connected to iTunes, click on the iPod's name. You will see the "Summary" page. You will also notice various tabs. This is where you will find the area to set-up syncing your contacts, etc.

Anyone else having problem with RAID and iTunes syncing photos in Vista?
Hello,
For whatever reason iTunes can not load some of the photos from C drive. It can do it from D drive, though VERY slow. Both C and D are NTFS system, but C is a RAID 0 drive (implemented by hardware on motherboard, Intel 82801G controller). I just wander if this is something related to iTunes not working correctly with RAID drivers, or is it something else? I should say that ALL other programs and games working fine on this drive.
Thanks for the replies. The problem is with Windows Vista using the NTFS file system, check out this post for the official solution. This has worked perfectly for me everytime I've tried it:

Multiple problems with iphone and itunes
Long time iphone and mac user here. We have 5 iphones in our family and 4 mac computers. I am fairly competent with them. That said we have nothing but problems when trying to get our iphones to sync or update through itunes. Today i had just had enough so i am spending the day trying to resolve all of the random errors we are getting. This isn't up to Apple's usual quality standards. We have an iphone 5 and an iphone 4 synced to a windows 7 64bit. The issues below are with the iphone 5. All software updates for phone, itunes, and pc have been done. I have uninstalled itunes, cleaned reg, then reinstalled just now. (this resulted in new errors...).
Here are my issues:
1. SQLlite.dll error (fixed this one myself by copying the files)
2. The iphone could not be backed up becuase the back up is not compatible or is corrupted error - can't back up iphone manually over wifi or cable
3. The iphone could not be synced becuase the iphone could not be found on the network - this just started when i resinstalled itunes. i've plugged and unplugged the phone about a dozen times, restarting the computer and phone each time. We've had problems getting our phones to sync for a while now but usually we can get it to work by plugging/unplugging over and over again, but not anymore.
Thanks in advance for your help with this.Okay here's the entire deal it's my gf's Mac and we used to use it together I would sync on her labtop but now we are having issues and she continues to take my phone when I'm sleeping and connect it to iTunes and then proceed to go through all my things. So basically is there anyway I can remove my phone of iTunes or maybe have a pass code on iTunes for my phone so in order for it to be synced there has to be a passcode entered? Or just is there a way to stop this from happening?
