  • Problems with a Canon eos T2i

I used my Canon T2i without problems for over a year and I am very pleased with it, but try taking days ago a video after  have been taking pictures in program mode and the camera will lock and no picture could be taken, only appeared one minute later a pattern with vertical lines ... try removing the battery to see if it unlocked and nothing happened, every time I tried to take a photo red light indicates that the camera is processing, (acces lamp), remained continuously lit and not seen any photos. If anyone can help me solve this problem would be very grateful.

    forgive me my bad english
i have this problem and a canon service centre took a look at it. They informed me that is would be a mainboard error. It needs to be replaced. Would cost me 250 euro's.
I took the camera home to think about it. After a few weeks i tried again and....it works fine. I could take pictures again. But when i tried movie it freezes again with the typical distortion on the lcd. Needs to reset by taking out the battery. After a few weeks it got the error again with taking pictures. Nothing helps. Tried to put it away 2 weeks but that did not resolve the problem.
i tried everything. Firmware, ML, other sd card's, lenses, and then i saw this possible solution for an error 70. Not my error but you never know.
--power down camera and remove battery
--power down HDMI device or powered adapter
--unplug the HDMI from the body, then plug it back in
--power up HDMI device or powered adapter
--insert battery and power up camera
and gues what. It works perfectly. NOT the video function. It's still freezes. But taking pictures is working for months now.
Before it would give the error when i stressed the camera with continuesly shooting at sports or something. Then it became slower en suddenly it would stop and give error 80. And now i can do what i want. It keeps working.
    It's worth i try?!

  • Problems with the canon xf plugin for fcp 7 Can't log and transfer mxf files.

    Hi
I can't log & transfer mxf files from a c300 camera in FCP 7 even though I installed the xf plugin.
When I looked at canon's website this link comes up but it doesn't work.
    http://usa.canon.com/nw3s/CanonUSA/DownloadContents/English/0200206002EN.htm
    Any suggestions?
Or other plugins that might work?
    Thanks,
    James

    Hello jameskendi,
The most obvious reason we can tell as to why this may not work properly is the version of FCP you are using.  You mention using FCP 7, although the plugin is specifically for FCP X.  This is why you're having such difficulty.  If possible, we'd recommend using an updated computer and or software to process these files.

  • Will Adobe Album Support Canon EOS 1DmkII CR2 (Raw) files.

Looking for an easy to use database to store some 30,000 + files but will Album recognize the CR2 file format?
    Thanks.

I have Photoshop Elements 4 and it does not currently suppport CR2 format. It does support some RAW formats, but you need to go to the website www.adobe.com/raw to find a list of cameras for which they support RAW.

  • My Canon EOS Rebel T4i will not operate with a new battery. What could cause this problem?

While take pictures with my Canon EOS Rebel T4i camera it died.  I assumed it was a dead battery.  Upon charging the battery it would take just a few pictures and die again.  I purchased a new cannon battery and fully charged it and now the camera will not even come on.  What could cause this?

Sounds like the micro-switch in either the battery door or memory card door is barely making contact.  If either of those two doors are opened the camera will immediatley power off.   The micro-switch is in the door frame.  The door itself has a tab which pushes on the switch.

  • Canon EOS Rebel T3 not taking out pictures

I have my camera since 2010. lastweek I tried taking out pictures and realise I wasnt getting a focus but I took a picture. Now today, I am pressing the shutter button but nothing.
I have a stock lense EFS 18-55MM and its on the Canon EOS Rebel T3.
I took the lense out and cleaned the contacts, and replaced the lense, this did not helped. I also did a manual reset on the features but that didnt help either.
    Please help me.

    Hey Mike,
Indded I understand the underexposure and I have been taking pictures since 2010 with this Camera, no problems. I used the stock settings and after doing my course, i understtod the aperture, shutter speed and ISo, however I just dont understand how I can pickup my camera and it stop taking Pictures.
I have gone thru all the basics to ensure in ruling out the possibilites. I am surrently reading back all my notes and refreshing my memories about it all. Its always good to refresh the memory.
I willcontinue researching and understanding some more. I still unclear why my camera is behaving such way. I intend to get to the bottom of this. I am a photography and I need my camera to shoot.
I am going to try and change the exposure to not underexpose to be be normal. I usually shoot in Manual since i have freedom of my shoots. I have perfected in shoot in this mode, but what are the odds.
So i tried shooting on Program mode and its working perfect, I come to the conclusion that my manual mode is screwed up. I did however had my brother use my camera a day but i was present, now i have to backtrack and see what he did in Maunal mode. Thank very much for helpingme out,
I will keep posting of any weird behavious experience.
However what are the basic settings I should in manual mode?

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.4
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • After loading Lion I cannot open some pictures. I get Unsupported Image Format. It tells me picture was taken with Canon EOS Rebel with unknown lens

After loading Lion I cannot open open some pictures in Aperture. I get Unsupported Image Format, all files even the ones I can open are .JPG. Also it tells me picture was made using Canon EOS Rebel with unknown lens.

You mention that 'most' of your files are DNG. Try
running the effected files through Adobe DNG
converter again and then import your reprocessed
files to Aperture and see if the problem persists.
I had a problem with a batch of D2x files converted
to DNG which had been metadata tagged by
    PhotoMechanic (the evil app).
B.T.W. You mention that you had been using Bridge.
Are you getting any of the embedded XMP metadata
coming into Aperture during the import process?
Already tried that multiple times...no luck. I'm wondering though if it might be related to metadata as you suggest. I'm still trying different things to see what happens.
I was able to alleviate the problem on one set of images by painstakingly searching my external drive for the oldest backups I could find - CR2 files from before DNG conversion. I then ran those through DNG Converter and tried importing them again (this time, I embedded NO thumbnail, but I'm not sure if that made the difference - I think it was more likely a fluke in the original conversion that caused the problem). This time, it worked.
Now, the big problem is that I still have a couple hundred images for which I can't seem to locate the original CR2 files. I don't typically keep them after conversion, as I don't have the space for both.

Hi I have a question about shooting in Raw with my Canon EOS 6d.
I'm in the process of learning photography and my goal was to start shooting in raw.
I have Photoshop CS5. When I tried to edit my images in raw I received an error message stating, "The photoshop camera raw plug-in did not recognize the format. If these files are from a camera, you may need to update your camera raw plug in."
In researching the issue I read that to edit in raw you need a camera model requirement of at least 7.3 which only works with CS6. My version of CS5 is 6.0.0.205. Being new to all this I see that my options are to upgrade to CS6 or convert by using DNG converter and paying a monthly fee. Two things I know nothing about and don't know which is would be more beneficial.
I'd appreciate any advise on which route to go and how upgrade and what it may cost. THANKS in advance!
    Heather

In researching the issue I read that to edit in raw you need a camera model requirement of at least 7.3 which only works with CS6.
That is correct. Your camera was first supported by Camera Raw 7.3. Camera Raw 7.3 will not work with CS5. You need CS6 or CC.
Being new to all this I see that my options are to upgrade to CS6 or convert by using DNG converter and paying a monthly fee. Two things I know nothing about and don't know which is would be more beneficial.
I'd appreciate any advise on which route to go and how upgrade and what it may cost.
It all depends on your preferred workflow and your budget.
Using the DNG converter is free. There is no monthly fee. You use the converter to convert all Raw files from the EOS 6D to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5. That's an extra step every time - every photo. Some people don't like the extra step. Others don't mind.
Camera raw, DNG | Adobe Photoshop CC
Or you can upgrade to CS6 (non-Cloud) and pay the upgrade fee
    Creative Suite 6
Or join the Cloud and pay the monthly fee
Or join the Photoshop Photography Program (US9.99/month) and get PS CC+LR

  • I have done a course in photography with my canon eos 1000D and have taught me to handle the raw camera

I have done a course in photography with my canon eos 1000D and have taught me to handle the raw camera , but not to install and funciione with .cr2 photos. I downloaded the trial version of photoshop cs2 and installed the latest camera raw ( 8.7) and even so will not let me open it. I tried to update photoshop with updates and has not served .

Unfortunately your software pre-dates the camera. But it is possible to download and install the free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of Photoshop. DNG is just like CR2 with no loss of quality. (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Is the canon eos rebel t3i compatible with Mac osx 10.9.1?

Is the canon eos rebel t3i compatible with Mac osx 10.9.1?
I am trying to transfer my photos from my camera to my Mac.
I have downloaded the software for the camera to my Mac BUT it cannot transfer the photos.
EOS Utility states that it cannot be used with this version of the operating system.
I am running on OSX 10.9.1
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

I would try uninstalling the canon software and then just plug your camera into your Mac. iPhoto should be all the software you should need.

  • Canon 500D/Rebel T1i and Raw files

Does anyone know when and if Apple will support raw files from the new Canon 500D/Rebel T1i?

There is a discussion related to this on the Adobe forums:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/422600?tstart=0
It sounds as though they didn't get the RAW specs for the 500D in advance of the launch as they sometimes do so I'd assume the same is true for Apple. Given this, we could be waiting a few weeks or months..

  • Problems with viewing RAW files and cannot update to ACR 5.7

    Hi
I purchased a canon 7D today, then went to take some pictures and came home to find my RAW files are not readable by Bridge or Photoshop. I have done some research and it seems that the solution would be to update. I did this. However, two of my five updates failed to install, one of which is ACR 5.7. I then looked into this and have found the best option is to manual install, but this is confusing me as the directories is says to use do not exist on my mac. I don't know what to do, can anyone help? I just want to be able to view my files in Bridge and edit in ACR and photoshop!!!!!
    Thanks.

If you download the 5.7 camera raw update from the following link,
    the installation should be automated:

  • Canon EOS Rebel T3 Freezing or locking up.

Hi there, I have a canon eos rebel t3, I'm trying to figure out what is going on with this for a friend and trying to fix it. I had to fix a ribbon cable that her husband broke trying to fix a button that he thought was broken because the disp button wouldnt make the lcd come on. Heres pretty much is whats happening. I have tried new card, reformatted the cards. Sometimes it will work fine, but seems if you actually try to take alot of pictures in few secs it ends up freezing up, and the display doenst work or any of the buttons do anything, but you can hear beeps sometimes. But in the view finder the green writing is still visible on the buttom. It also will click to take picture but will not try to focus or autofocus. When it finally goes back to not acting up the focus works again and the buttons work. It seems like its locking up or has errored out trying to write to the memory. I don;t think it would be the lcd display because when it does work the lcd display has no problems. I have tried other memory cards with high read/write speeds. I tried to reformat them. Also when you plug the camera into the computer when is acting up the computer does not reconize it at all. Please give me some help on getting the problem down to one area of the camera so I can fix it for my friend that just doenst have the money to afford a new camera even with the trade in program Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Hi kordris!
    Thanks for posting.
At this point, the best suggestion we have would be to remove the battery from the camera for a few minutes when it freezes up, then put it back in the camera.  If the camera's controls still freeze up and do not operate, the camera will need to be repaired.  To start this process, you'll need to complete a Repair Request on our website.
