Problems with watermarks
I am trying to add a watermark in Lightroom and have followed the procedure described in the instructions. In the preview of the image, I can see the watermark but when I apply it there is nothing showing on the photo. I have tried different font sizes etc to see if that is a problem, but it doesn't help. Any suggestions about how to fix this?

There's a long-standing bug in the Watermarks feature, which is only triggered when there's a mix of a certain font, a certain proportional size, and a certain export file size. Improvements have been made over various releases, but it still crops up from time to time (often when using downloaded speciality fonts). Of the standard system font set, I know that Lucida Calligraphy can trigger the issue.
If this is the problem that you've run into, try changing one or more of those 3 things (font, proportional size, export size), though changing the font is usually the easier fix.

Problem with watermarking/permissions on server files
Hello,
I've got a problem when trying to add a Waternark to PDFs exported from InDesign.
I'm working from an Apple XServe server with InDesign CS5.
I've set up my watermark template in Acrobat and saved it - but when I try to add it to the PDF, it tells me I do not have sufficient permissions.
However, I've noticed that if I save the artwork to my desktop, then make the PDF, Acrobat lets me add the watermark. The same thing happens if I make a new (unsaved) document.
So I don't know where the issue lies. In Acrobat? InDesign? Or the server.
Can somebody help?
Thanks!One problem jumps out at me right away, when you close your folder, you specify false, change this to true and that should delete all the messages on the server that were marked as DELETE:
in the last few lines, change:
folder.close(false);
to:
folder.close(true);
you will still need to use:
message.setFlag(Flags.Flag.DELETED,true);
to set the flag of the messages you wish to delete. -
Having a problem with Watermark
Hi,
Just recently bought Lightroom 5 (updated to 5.3) I am having an issue when I try to watermark my photos using the Mistral font. The individual letters rather than being all smoothly joined together are separate/ overlapping (see attached photo) - using this font in Photoshop elements is not an issue.Is there a way around this ?Please find attached my export setting, fairly basic setting I'd say, hopefully you can see something I cant ?

Problems with Saved Watermarks - Wrong Font Size
Hi,
I am having problems with "Saved" Watermarks, as when I selected them they have the wrong font size.
I created a Watermark (Draft) to be placed on the lower right
corner of a PDF, using font Arial-10. This watermark has been save using the "Save Settings..." in Watermarks.
When I add this this "saved" watermark to a new PDF, the font size is wrong
(much much bigger), even though the Add Watermark windows reports Arial-10. Only by a selecting a different font size and changing it back to the saved font size (10) I get the correct Font Size in the PDF.
I had a similar problem with the placement, but managed to solve that by setting the Preference>User&Guide to the used Unit (Page&Ruler = centimeters). But for the font size I can't find anything in the preference.
Any Help or Suggestions ?Hi,

Im using Photoshop CC and when it starts up it sometimes gives me this error message:
'Problem with display driver and has temporary disabled enhancements which use graphics hardware.'
What does this mean?
Then it tells me to download the latstest software and gives me a link to an Adobe site that tells me nothing about a sollution.

Problem with zoom in Photoshop CS6
Hello
I've got problem with new(?) feature in Photoshop CS6.
When I'm working on my project and have for example 150% zoom and I want to move workspace with SPACE+LMB.
In my previous version (CS3) I can do this without problem but know Photoshop shows me my file with FIT TO SCREEN zoom and some frame to choose
which screen area I want to zoom in.
It's just zooming out to full view of file. I hate this, but I can't turn it off.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEI was just being sarcastic. I knew it is a feature while searching for a way to fix the issue awhile back. I am very interested in knowing if any user out there could somehow fix the problem by reseting, reinstalling, etc. I got an update a few hours ago, and that didnt fix it either.
I have tried a lot of suggestions, and the only one seems to be working for me is to turn on "Scrubby Zoom"

I run Adobe CS5 on MBP 10.6 and CS6 on MBPr 10.8. No additional plugins, English US keyboard. The laptops come with standard configuration... nonetheless, they both have the same issue.
I am sure my computers have different settings from others, but this issue does not seem to be isolate as there are other users have experience it too.
I personally, don't think it is too hard to re-create. Most likely happen when
1. Hold down space+command to zoom in
2. Release keys, then hold down space and start moving around
3. there you go, "bird's eye view" comes
One thing I notice is that the problem does not occur all the time.

Problems with Photoshop CS6 Recognizing Multiple Graphics Cards
Hi,
I have a quad monitor setup with two graphics cards with the latest drivers downloaded today and installed directly off of the manufacturer's websites:
1) AMD Radeon R9 200 Series 4GB GDDR5
2) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 1GB GDDR5
I have Photoshop CS6 64-bit (along with the rest of the Adobe Design and Web Premium) installed on my computer - which I uninstalled and reinstalled today also - and it's claiming that it has detected an error with my display driver. The Graphics Processor Settings box in Preferences is greyed out, and I've used the shift+ctrl+alt to reset preferences and check again to no avail. I've also set both of my graphics cards to turn on OpenGL Triple Buffering and to let the 3D application decide the image settings. Here's my system info, where you can see that the GPU sniffer crashed and that no video card is detected:

Are you using more than one video card?
Multiple video adapters can cause problems with GPU-accelerated or enabled features in Photoshop. It's best to connect two (or more) monitors into one video adapter. If you have to use more than one video adapter, make sure that they are the same make and model.
Otherwise, crashes and other problems can occur in Photoshop.
Note: Using more than one video adapter does not enhance Photoshop's performance. -
Photoshop CS5.1 Crashes Upon Opening: "Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver-"
Every time I try to open photoshop I get a window that pops up and says:
"Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software.
GPU enhancements can be enable in the Performance panel of Preferences."
Then windows shuts the program down. The details of the problem are:

The error happens so quickly that I don't have time to do anything. Please help. >.< I've been on hold for *checks phone* 2 hours exactly. Wow. It is a legit copy and was working last month with no trouble. I've updated the drivers and tried a few solutions that have worked for other people that I found on Google (such as disabling CUDA and setting my "power management mode" to "prefer maximum performance" on my video card) but so far nothing has worked.
Thanks in advance!It has stopped crashing because somehow it turned off "Enable GL Drawing" on its own because I could never even get a menu open. Not sure how it did that but I am grateful. I still get the error when I open Photoshop up but at least it hasn't crashed yet. At the time when it was crashing I never would have been able to get you the system info due to the speed that it was crashing upon just opening the program. In case you still need it:

Problem with 'Filling Space' described in Tim's Blog
Dear Experts,
I am using the Invoice Template described in the excellent Blog by Tim Dexter (Anatomy of a Template) to produce my own version. However, I am having problems with the 'Filling Space' described here: http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2007/03/anatomy_of_a_template_ii_heade.html
My template is almost identical to the example, when I import XML data where there is only one record, the Filling Space does not pad out with enough empty rows so that the Total table is not at the bottom of the page, aligned with the watermark that I have. The code in the 'Filling Space' field is as in the Blog:

If the number of records is greater than half a page or more, then the padding is correct. This is even if, say on the third page there is just one record. Therefore, it seems the padding does not work if the number of records are less than half a page in total.
Is this correct and does anyone have a solution - would be greatly appreciated.

This statement is wrong.
Leave the if conditions logic,
This is how it works,..
xml contains 43 rows...
each page you need 10 rows..
after every 10th rows [using position mod 10 ,] , you put a page break...
if the mod returns greater than 0, that means row filler has to come into effect now.
what is the logic now to have row fillers is , 10 - 3 [position mod 10] , comes to 7... so seven blank rows should be inserted..
this is how , it works...
so the statement, saying, less than half of page, or something, wont come into this :).

IT CRASHES FOR NO REASON, i can open the programme up and not use it still crashes, I have never had a problem with Windows. -
Problems with Oil Paint Filter
I'm having problems with the oil paint filter in CS6. It runs and looks fine while in the filter, but once I commit the changes and go back to Photoshop, there are one to three bright squares of fluorescent green (sometimes pink, I think) overlaying parts of my image. I have a Radeon 7450 graphics card and Windows 8. Have drawing mode set to basic because of the flickering issues.
this is a new computer, so this is the only video card that has ever been in it that I am away of.

HP Laserjet 4250 - While Printing PDFs with Watermark, Prints images as scrambled
Hi,
I am using HP Laserjet 4250 printer. While Printing PDFs with Watermark, the printer prints images as scrambled. It prints the part of the image as scrambled which is overlapped by the Watermark. The other part of the image is printed fine. When seen on the screen, it shows up the image with the watermark properly. Could you please suggest how to arrive at a solution for this problem. AdvancedDataGrid problem with programmatically adding a column
Hi everybody,
I have a Problem with adding columns programmatically to a AdvancedDataGrid. The code:
var cols:Array = thisDataGrid.columns;
cols.push(dgc);
thisDataGrid.columns = cols;
does create a column, adds it to the cols array, bot the last code line has no effect. The cols wont be found in the thisDataGrid.columns property...
What could be the problem? I'm working with a test license, and on the advanceddatagrid the watermark shows up. Could this be a problem?

MarkusAs the columns property of an adg is bindable, you could try to bind it to an array and afterwards, add columns to that array:

I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?

Problem with Threads and a static variable
I have a problem with the code below. I am yet to make sure that I understand the problem. Correct me if I am wrong please.
Code functionality:
A timer calls SetState every second. It sets the state and sets boolean variable "changed" to true. Then notifies a main process thread to check if the state changed to send a message.
The problem as far I understand is:
Assume the timer Thread calls SetState twice before the main process Thread runs. As a result, "changed" is set to true twice. However, since the main process is blocked twice during the two calls to SetState, when it runs it would have the two SetState timer threads blocked on its synchronized body. It will pass the first one, send the message and set "changed" to false since it was true. Now, it will pass the second thread, but here is the problem, "changed" is already set to false. As a result, it won't send the message even though it is supposed to.
Would you please let me know if my understanding is correct? If so, what would you propose to resolve the problem? Should I call wait some other or should I notify in a different way?

It is not easy to make them alternate since SetState() could be called from different places where the state could be anything else but a status message. Like a GREETING message for example. It is a handshaking message but not a status message.
Again as you said, There is a reason I can't call sendMessage() inside setState().
The only way I was able to do it is by having a counter of the number of notifies that have been called. Every time notify() is called a counter is incremented. Now instead of just checking if "changed" flag is true, I also check if notify counter is greater than zero. If both true, I send the message. If "changed" flag is false, I check again if the notify counter is greater than zero, I send the message. This way it works, but it is kind of a patch than a good design fix. I am yet to find a good solution.
