Problems with wifi after lion upgrade 10.7.2 but only at home

HI, my wifi conection was problemless till I upgraded to lion 10.7.2. After that, it is impossible to connect through airport but only in my home´s wifi. Other computers work at home (including my iphone) and my macbook pro connects everywhere else with no problem but it doesn´t at home. Inmediately after choosing the desired conection it says: Not posible to conect due to conection time run out (or something like that).
Any help?

Then it would appear to be an issue with your router. What router? Model? Is the firmware up to date?

  • Problem with Java after System Upgrade to 10.5.7

    Hi,
I am facing problem with Java after having run Software upgrades.
Here is the whole story. I recently moved to iMac 10.5.6 from PowerPc 10.4. On this new machine I was having problem running a 3rd party application, which requires JVM. As this application worked well on Tiger, I decided to upgrade JVM on my iMAC using Software Upgrade(was I insane!!). As I like my systems to be updated (as with linux on my personal machine) I clicked "install all". As a result I have the following upgrades run on my machine:
    2009-05-20 13:12:01 +0200: Installed "Mac OS X Update Combined" (10.5.7)
    2009-05-20 13:12:10 +0200: Installed "Remote Desktop Client Update" (3.2.2)
    2009-05-20 13:12:26 +0200: Installed "Java For Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2" (1.0)
    2009-05-20 13:58:36 +0200: Installed "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 3" (1.0)
    2009-05-20 13:58:44 +0200: Installed "AirPort Utility Software Update 2009-001" (5.4.1)
    2009-05-20 13:59:07 +0200: Installed "QuickTime" (7.6)
    2009-05-20 13:59:22 +0200: Installed "iPhoto Update" (7.1.5)
    2009-05-20 13:59:28 +0200: Installed "iLife Support" (9.0.2)
    2009-05-20 13:59:38 +0200: Installed "iDVD Update" (7.0.3)
    2009-05-20 13:59:58 +0200: Installed "iTunes" (8.1.1)
But now, simply running $ java on the prompt hangs, i.e. it takes no action.
    $ which java
    /usr/bin/java
    $ ls -ltr /usr/bin/java
    May 20 15:09 /usr/bin/java -> /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current/Commands/java
    $java (no response)
Here is the output of $ top
PID COMMAND %CPU TIME #TH #PRTS #MREGS RPRVT RSHRD RSIZE VSIZE
    703 java 98.8% 0:38.54 3 110 72 480K 184K 1964K 40M
    Any clues?
    cheers

    Hi man,
In the wake of this java problem I resorted to keep working on my old machine, and today in my spare time I tried to fix this new machine.
So I execute $java on prompt, and then try to check the files it has opened, using lsof -p pid
    I see it referring to
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/bin/java
    isn't this usually the JAVA_HOME
    However, executing $/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/bin/java
    hangs!!
    but
    $/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/bin/java
    works!!
    $ pwd
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home/bin
    $ ./java -version
    java version "1.6.0_07"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06-153)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0_07-b06-57, mixed mode)

  • Having problem with wifi after upgrading to iOS 6

After I upgrade my iPhone to ios6 I am having many problems connecting to wifi.
Places that I had wifi connection at home now are not available and it takes long time for the iPhone to connect to the wifi.
    What to do??????

Do the basics first. follow http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398. I would also clear cookies and data in settings > safari.

  • Problem with Wifi after upgrade to WIN10

I have Idea Center B300 AIO desktop with RTL 8192 Wireless adaptor. Wifi is not working after I upgrade to WIN10 yesterday.  I am not getting WIN 10 beta drivers also on URL http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds102364 but could not get for my desktop.

    hi pramodlele,
If you look under Device Manager > Other Devices, do you see a Network Controller entry?
If yes, have you considered installing the Win7 driver and running it in compatibility mode?
    Wireless LAN Driver - Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)
    RTL8192SE and Windows 7 Drivers
Alternatively, you can also right click on the Network Controller > choose Update driver software > Search automatically for updated driver software and observe.
Let me know how it goes.

  • My problems with WiFi after 10.5.8 update (and how I solved them)

Hi, I also had problems getting online after last Leopard update. First I tried to delete all network related preferences (as posted here http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9965959#9965959) but soon the problem reappeared.
I need to connect to 2 different routers, one at home and another at the office. After doing what I said in my previous post (see above), I managed to connect to one OR the other, but not both. I had to delete my home config when I was at the office, and the other way around at home. (i.e. I only could connect when only ONE network was configured in Airport preferred networks).
After some trying, I realized both of my router had their SSID hidden. I then broadcasted my home router SSID and, voilà, everything's fine.
Hope this will help some of you getting around this nasty bug.
    Regards.

Had issues with my WiFi router too, after upgrading my MacBook Pro 13" to 10.5.8. Not sure we're talking about the same issues, but my MacBook connected to my WiFi network, had also a IP address, but couldn't connect to any host, nor on the local network neither outside.
After reading your post I tried to remove the network completely from the list of known networks and to set it up from scratch. Seems it works now...
    Thanks,
    Thomas

  • Ipad mini problem with wifi after update 6.1.3

    Hello!
My ipad mini was working fine before the 6.1.3 upgrade, immediately after updating, the wifi stopped working. Restore the iPad to its factory settings as deleting both my data and to reintroduce the network, was still not working.
    Help please!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Some other things to try:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Issue with WIFI after LOLLIPOP upgrade Z3C

Z3C, upgraded to Lollipop and WiFi became slow, speed went down from 80 mbps to 3 mbps !!!
Phone seems sluggish in general, KitKat was fantastic, now I have a slow phone.
Bluetooth transfer also went from 160 kb to 90 kb....
Does anyone know how it can be fixed? what about the 5ghz band for the WiFi on the phone?

Yes, same WiFi problem with safe mode. Everything was perfect until the upgrade to Lollipop. Now WiFi speed is 1/10 of before, and phone is slow in general. realy sad, sometimes even whatsapp messages takes minutes to be delivered.
Does anyone know how to select only 5ghz channel for the WiFi on the phone?

I am a Cisco network support engineer, I have a recommendation, before you  upgrade any device in the future. Always keep in mind to make a backup of your data, in this way if you have to reset the device to factory settings you will not lose that information. Having said that, reset the router to the fabric configuration using the back little button, remember when you do that, you are going to loose your current configuration.
Also here I leave a link for you to download the firmware rescue utility for your router:

  • Problems with Bionic after ICS upgrade

I've had a few issues with the ICS upgrade on my Bionic, but one in particular bothers me the most.  When I get a text or voicemail or other alert at the top of the screen, sometimes I am not able to pull down the menu to check the alert.  That was one of the best shortcuts on the phone. When it gets stuck like that, I have to reboot the phone. This can happen once or twice a day.  Anybody else have that issue or was able to fix it?
    Thanks!

    Clear system cache:
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
    Press volume up/down simultaneously
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select

  • Problems with WiFi after upgrade

I have an Ipod Touch 16gig second generation. I recently Upgraded to version 3.1.2(7D11). After the update my WiFi does not seem as stable and I cannot connect to networks in locations that I once could. Even in my home network the signal strength appears way lower than before the update. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it something I did wrong and is there something I can do to try to rememdy this? Thanks for any input.

I have a 2nd gen touch. Last week I finally updated it to 3.1.2, and, along with my touch, updated my lap to the newest itunes and safari. Before, with the old software (I've been overseas since April so I adn't updated my pod for a very long time) my ipod could easily find unlocked wifi and join onto the network. It was great on the net. I used a wifi finder app that was fantastic. Now? My app doesn't open, itunes refuses to update any of my apps and my touch shows it has wifi but won't go online.
I've done everything recommended; reset all settings, reset network settings, restored...you name it. Still nothing. I'm so frustrated. If I had known that this would happen, I would never had updated. Leave well enough alone. I only updated because all of the new game apps wouldn't be supported by my software. I wanted to play Sims 3. Irony is, now that's all I can do on my touch now.
Advice from anyone? Lord knows I can't go to apple itself. My warranty is up and unless i pay, they won't help.
Gee, think they'll start noticing that there's a fair amount of people having the same problem and maybe, just maybe, they should fix the bug...and not charge for it!! Angers me even more. I had to pay money for software that made my podly sick.

  • IPhone Sync Problems with VISTA After iTunes Upgrade to 7.4

Upon upgrading to iTunes 7.4 I was unable to sync my Outlook calendar or contacts to the iPhone. Called Apple Support that they seemed to know nothing about this problem general problem despite all of the discussions on this and many other tech. boards.
After being told remove and reinstall iTunes and Outlook, set-up a new user account, etc... (none of which worked) I finally concluded that perhaps the .pst file being used by outlook was simply incompatible with iTunes for some reason (e.g. unsupported recurring calendar items).
SOLUTION: Create a new outlook .pst data file. Once created, open up that new file along with the defective .pst file. Then, simply change the view of calendars and contacts in your old calendar such that you can see all of the items in a list. Highlight the items you want to keep and simply click-and-drag them to the nes .pst file. This solves all of the sync. problems I had post-7.4 upgrade. It takes less than 3 minutes to complete this painless fix.
This was so annoying for me that I'd be happy to help someone complete this simple task if they need help. < Edited by Host, for your protection, no personal information please. >

Then it would appear to be an issue with your router. What router? Model? Is the firmware up to date?

  • Problems with wifi after 4.3

Upgraded to 4.3 on both my iPad and iPhone 4. After the update neither can connect to my dlink dir655 set only to wireless n. They both can connect to my verizon westell modem/router perfectly fine which is g. I have reset router and iOS devices. No clue what's wrong. Anyone else see anything similar or have an idea on a solution.
update: If I drop the dlink router to wireless g they both connect fine. and FWIW my mabook pro can connect to the dlink at either n or g.

Same here... but in my case nothing worked (restarting router, checked firmware.. it is latest from Netgear.. resetting network connection etc.).. I get very slow speed wifi connection (with the speed test 0.3 Mbps down and 0.2 upload).. Just before update it was 9Mbps upload and 1.4 download. This is total shame on Apple. They call their products are top of the line but I have many wifi devices never experienced such a crappy performance Apple testing needs some fundamental training to validate some basic functions before releasing the OS to the users. This is total shame and I am forced to use 3G even at home (I am sure I will max my 2GB limit). I am requesting tech support with the GREAT GENIUS people in Apple store and will ask for refund for any overage which I am going to pay because of this crappy upgrade with a major bug Apple exposed to its valuable customers.

  • Problems with wifi after iOS4 update

Hi guys well I have an iPhone 3Gs currently running 4.1 but came with 3.1.3. The wifi at home works fine and that is WEP secured the only problem is the schools network. In order to connect through wifi you need to use Manual Proxy Settings with the following settings
    Server: 10.1.0.12
    Port: 8080
    Username: ELTHAM\<username>
    Password: <password>
Everything worked fine on 3.1.3 and it ALWAYS connected. Now the settings say it's connected but there is no wifi simbol only 3G, and if I turn data off while connected to wifi safari says its not connected. I have tried restoreing, setting up as new iPhone, reset network settings but no luck whatsoever.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

Yes, an all of a sudden it started working while sitting for around 30 minutes, shouldn't take that long
