Problems with YouTube - iPad app and Safari on iPad

Recently, I have started to encounter problems with YouTube on the iPad. The first is the desktop version of YouTube on safari. At first it worked fine, but a few days ago, whenever I try to watch a video, the playing area stays black and a message appears saying 'This video is currently unavailable.' One 'solution' I found online was to switch to the HTML5 video player in 'TestTube.' However, as the videos had been working before I didn't see why it was necessary, and anyway when I tried it only a few videos worked, with the rest showing the same message I described earlier. The mobile version of the YouTube site woks fine.
The second problem lies with the subscriptions feature of the YouTube app. When I tap the subscriptions button, not all of them show up. I've tried finding a video by the user I want to subscribe to, tapping 'More From', followed by 'Subscribe,' but this brings up the error message 'YouTube not avaliable.' Subscribing to any other channel from the app works fine.
Thanks - any help with either porblem would be greatly appreciated! I don't really want to go to the Apple store, and my free telephone support that came with the iPad finished some time ago.

OMG Apple, I'm am fed up with this stupid YouTube problem I paid $500 for my iPad if not more, and I expect better! I cannot view official music videos, episodes and I can't even view 2 out of 10 videos I search for. stop trying to make people buy from your stupid iTunes store and let them be able to view all videos on YouTube. Anyone who asks me if I'd recommend and iPad, you know what I say? Its not worth the money because the reason I got an iPad was being able to have freedom just like a pc and clearly I don't have that. They ask me; can an iPad do everything a pc can do, and I say no it can't, all because I can't view videos properly on YouTube. I'm 15 and saved for an iPad and it took me 2 years, $500 I regret spending!

Is anyone having problems with the Health App and Withings?

After upgrading to ios 8.1 I am still having a problem getting my Withings Health Mate data to correctly update my Healt Dashboard. The information that does show up on the different Dashboard widgets is way off. For example, I today walked 2400 steps according to Withings, but the Health Dashboard shows 10,700 steps (720,000 in smaller print on another line). It further shows my daily average at 313,000 steps! Ridiculous.
Walking/Running distance for the days shows 22.5 miles with a daily average of 108 miles.....I'm not Barry Allen/The Flash.

My problems with the Healt App are all over the map. The information on Withings Health Mate is totally accurate, and updates immediately. I have their scale (since 2011) and wireless blood pressure monitor. Also, I find the heart rate senson on the iPhone 6 to work well, every time.
This issue for me is with Apple's Health app. I get ridiculous readings on the Dashboards. For example, it shows my daily average in steps as 170,688, and miles walked at 80. Hardly! Additionally, the Dashbord widgets will disappear/reappear for no reason. I have tried switching the priority of data sources for the steps dashboard between Withings and my iPhone 6 (because it is indicated that the top source governs the dashboard info), to no avail.
Lastly, I don't know how to interpret the infomration on the individual dashboards. On the same line as the word "Steps" there is a number, i.e. 14,272 steps, and just under it the word "Today." However, when I switch from "Day," "Week,," "Month," and "Year," those number don't change. Below the word Today is a number (which changes all the time), and at the bottom of the widget, just above the month (October now) is the number 1,149,749. Nice.
I would like to get the Apple Watch next year, but if the Health App cannot be fixed I may not.

Problem with Wifi Traveler app and ipass

This product is causing lots of problem on my Nokia E72 phone. First it was working okay, asking me to update it, but after I installed the iPass plug in , then it manipulated my phone's internet connection and many of my apps couldn't get connected to my Home's Wifi network and load up and even this app would'nt let my Apps to use the 3G netowrk of my Provider to get connected unless I was out of the range of my Home Wireless Connection. I tried everything to enabling and disabling the Internet connection in the App, changing the Access Point , disabling the IPass , nothing worked .
I even tried to update the app but it fails. I tried to unintall the apllication and it fails, I removed then Ipass plugin of the app , and it made it much worse... now vice versa , my apps can never connect to 3G network, and only bring the option to get it connected to WIFi.
Tired to install the Ipass Plug in again , but now it doesn't get installed, it asks for Wifi Travelers to be updated first, but that one fails to be updated either. The app cannot be uninstalled too, leaving me in limbo. I tired to reinstall the application, but it fails ... does any one who how to get rid of this app or at least make it to update ? This app is just driving me nuts, Thanks

This problem with deleting protected iPass WiFi access point is SOLVED.This is the way:
READ POINT 3c FIRST!! After that,read from the beggining.
1.stop any connection/ data or wifi/. -DONT touch iPass wifi app.
2.go to psiloc world traveller -iPass wifi app - and choose DISABLED.
3.go to settings-installations-already installed-choose REMOVE psiloc world traveller /both apps from there/..Big one and the small one-about 22kb.
4.go to settings-connectivity-settings-network destinations-chek is the access point deleted..
If not,you must go to little bit complicated way..
1a.establish wifi connection-NOT by iPass Wifi app./ONLY WI FI - NOT DATA / connection.
2b.go to psiloc world traveller-open it-go to iPass wifi app, go to UPDATE it..Make update of iPass wifi app,after that choose DISABLE.
3c.It is recommandable -before any work on removing protected access point - to move temporary all access points to another destination,/protected acces point cant be moved/ in order to make protected access point /iPass wifi/ be alone in the folder/destination/ INTERNET-or the folder where it is ...If it is neccessary open new destination folder...And put all other access points there..I do that before removeing this **bleep**...protected acc.point.
4d.now,CLOSE ALL CONNECTIONS - IT IS VERY IMPORTANT - go to app manager/ installations/-REMOVE Psiloc world traveller-DONT TOUCH ANY WIFI APPS-Remove both Psiloc traveller apps..Big one and the small one.
5e.Restart phone.
6f.Make check,your internet acc.point destination would be empty - without iPass access point **bleep**....If it is all Ok,you must bring back your old access point order.
7g.remember,removing of psiloc world traveller you automatically removed protected iPass wifi access point.DONT TRY TO REMOVE iPass WIFi application itself!

I'm having problems with all my apps and it's freezing my videos on face book

this new program by iOS 8 is really messing up all my apps it's also freezing my videos on facebook and on my apps it won't let me close some of them

simply try doing a back up and restore
when going thru the activation screen, select SET UP AS NEW and then test your device. if it is not shutting down then it could be 1 or more apps tht have been downloaded wch could be affecting the device
you will then need to follow the process of eleimnation, meaning add 2 apps and then monitor your phone, if nothing happes then add another couple of them and then check

Problems with Youtube...and "about this mac"

Hi... all of a sudden... I cant play videos on Youtube... the page comes up fine... but there is no play button showing...so the screen is just black.... this is when I use Safari... no problems when I use google chrome..
to try to fix this I wanted to get my serial number off the "about this mac" icon... when I click on it now nothing at all happens...
What do I do?? is this a common problem?? I downloaded an update just prior to this problem occuring... should I not download any updates in future??

I did that (repair permissions) and now I cant turn my mac off.... seriously....
Is is possible i have a virus? I have windows 7.1 installed on a program called "Parallel".. is it possible these are somehow interfering with my Mac software?
I really appreciate your help, I am a computer luddite really, I just turn it on and hope it works... if it doesnt I normally take it to a technician... but I believe Mac has really good online support .. so Ill keep trying. thanks again..

Why does my iphone5 have problems with internet based apps and browsing after the 6.1.2 update?

BBC Iplayer
I keep restarting the phone which helps temporarily but then the Apps get timed out again. Looks like it cannot retrieve data over Wi-Fi.

Impossible JDNI problem with standalone java app and WAS

I'm working with this IBM java application called Extended Search (ES) -. I know that not many people will have used it, but my problem is more to do with JNDI and JREs - becoming desperate now as I have a deadline looming! Hoping someone can help.
Anyway, I have to write a class that is loaded by Extended Search which does a JNDI lookup to an EJB running on a WAS server on the same machine.
ES runs on what looks like a cut-down version of the IBM JRE.
Despite ES itself being an EJB client, my class, within the context of ES, does not have access to naming.jar and all the other libraries I need to set the intial context and make the JNDI call.
If I run my class outside of ES from eclipse, with the required JARs as recommended by other posters to this forum, I can easily make the call. I have done versions that work with either the Sun JRE or the IBM JRE that comes with Eclipse.
In ES, I have attempted to copy in the jars I need as follows:
- ecutils.jar
- ibmorb.jar
- j2ee.jar
- lmproxy.jar
- naming.jar
- namingclient.jar
- ras.jar
- sas.jar
- wsexception.jar
- wssec.jar
I resolved all of the noclassdeffound errors I was getting on trying to make the JNDI lookup, but now it appears to be calling a method from an object in the ES cutdown JRE which does not exist:

This problem is driving me nuts. I find it hard to believe that its so difficult to make a call from one bloody IBM product to another, just because JNDI seems to require the entire WAS library dir to work and I don't understand why JNDI has to be so properitary to specifc appservers (sorry, just letting my frustration show there ;)
Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can get round this? I have limited control over ES - and it won't even start up if I add the WAS lib dir to its classpath.

i couldn't agree more.
well, actually the core was server isn't too bad - but its ludicrous that application clients have to be this complicated. if sun can manage it with only two jars, then why does ibm need 17???
i tried adding the extra ones from the list, but same problem. i can't help thinking i've brought over older versions of the corba classes, but its hard to identify what jar is responsible for what.
i've logged a bug with ibm support now. considering ditching the ejb and placing the jdbc code directly into the extended search classes. but if i do that, i lose my connection pooling etc - performance is going to be rubbish.
i can't believe i've spent days working on one jndi call. :(

Incontext editing problem with firefox 3.6 and safari

when i try to login to a page with ctrl + e the following message comes up:
"You have Adobe Flash Player version 10,0,2 installed.

but i have the latest version ...
in safari i always had that problem, in firefox it worked, but not after i updated to 3.6
it still works with chrome, but anyway ...

I'm finding that Muse doesn't work well in older browsers, since it uses technology they don't understand. I think if we design sites in Muse, we're assuming that viewers are using newer browsers.

Apple has eliminated RSS. If you want to have a RSS reader go to the App Store. I hear that Reader is good.

I have the same problem. Yahoo Sportacular aborts every time I try to open it. It attempts to load and then the device goes right back to the home screen. The problem started April 26 after I switched leagues from NHL to NBA. Closing all apps and Restarting doesn't solve solve the problem.
All other apps on the iPad work fine. IPad2, OS6.
Any other suggestions? I suppose I could delete the app from the iPad and try re-installing it

Same here on my lpad2. Can access the web just fine from browsers but cannot install new apps or updates in appl store. Seeing a few others reporting same issue tonight so likely an apple server issue and staff will notice it in network monitors and fix it...sometime this weekend.

Strange problem with the mail app on an iPad

I've got a bit of a strange problem with the mail app on an iPad - it's sending and receiving mail ok but won't let you delete mail. If you keep at it, it appears as if you have deleted mail (though takes a very long time as you just have to keep deleting it over and over again) - but the size of the app still keeps going up - reached 600mb so far, even though there is hardly any mail or attachments (goes up quite a lot each time you try to delete anything) - any idea what's causing this and how I can fix it?
It occasionally comes up with a dialogue panel saying to check my account settings, but I have checked those and they are fine. The little 'loading' icon just keeps spinning constantly too.

go to Settings > Mail > your account > Advanced > Move Discarded Messages Into
and make sure that Deleted Mailbox is ticked, and not Archive Mailbox
You can also adjust how long the deleted mail stays in the trash immediately below that.
If you are talking about a gmail account, you may also have to login to your account on the gmail server and update the settings there. This is what Barney previously posted about that:

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Basic troubleshooting steps might help. If you are using the iPad 1, low memory issues may be causing the app and Safari to crash.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Definitely do this - Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

seems if I disable all security it works. Not a very good situation, tells me it's a port that is open that shouldn't be. I imagine it is fine on a mac, but on a pc it is an issue since most corporations use pc's.
