  • Satellite P750 - touch buttons have been activated for no apparent reason

    Heya
My Toshiba P750/02L001 seems to have this wierd issue where the touch buttons that activate the volume controls / green mode / wifi switch / etc... have been activated for no apparent reason
My hands are no where near the proximity, and it only does it after a given time
Any idea on what this could be?
I'm running the prebuilt Win 7 Home Prem edition that came with the laptop

Sounds like the switch board is faulty. I would send the notebook to a Toshiba repair center. There is an ASP list on the Toshiba website.

  • Iphone 5c makes sound for no apparent reason

I am posting this on behalf of a friend. She just got a brand new iPhone 5C and she loves it, but at random times throughout the day, it plays a sound for no apparent reason. There is no notification, no email, no messages, no alarm... we've been through all the sounds and notification settings. We did identify the sound as "Popcorn", but nothing she on her phone that we can find actually uses that sound. It is driving her crazy. She has very few apps on this phone - Find My iPhone, Allrecipes, AskMD, Pandora, 70's Radio and MapMyWalk. We went into each of these apps to find sound settings and, if they had one, we turned it off. Her phone is possessed! Please help us find the source, as we are going crazy.

Try resetting your phone. Press and hold down both the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears then let go. You won't lose any data.
There are a number of things you can check to improve battery performance in this article. https://www.apple.com/ca/batteries/maximizing-performance/#ios
If none of the above help then the next step would be to Restore. Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings This will erase everything on your phone so back up your data first.

  • I have lost sound for text on iphone5

I have lost sound on texting. Happened after going out of U.S. and coming back. This happened recently when I went out of the country too.  I called ATT--did soft reset, checked all settings and that didn't work.  It does vibrate, but no sound.

Try playing music on the phone, and then try turing the volume button up, if the doesn't resolve the issue, then try resetting all your settings (this will delete any wi-fi network passwords that are saved on the device.) If all else fails always try backing up and restoring the device. Follow this article if you want to try the restore option.

  • Have lost sounds for some games e.g. Solitaire. Others are ok but keyboard sounds have also gone. Sounds are ok with earphones. Have checked settings and they seem ok. Any ideas, please?

    Lost sounds In some games

Have you got notifications muted ? That will mute notifications (including games), so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, will still get sound.
If its an iPad Air 2 then notification mute and rotation lock are controlled via Control Centre : Turn on Mute and Orientation Lock on iPad Air 2 - Apple Support
If it's the first gen iPad Air then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via Control Centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). The function that isn't on the side switch is set via Control Centre instead : About the iPad Side Switch - Apple Support

  • Alert sounds for no apparent reason

Several times a day a get an alert sound. I think it is the "sosumi" alert. But nothing apparent occurs when it sounds. I don't get any new emails, nor do I get a window with any information, directions, warnings, or anything else.
    Any ideas?

Yep, I do have Skype, but I've had it for a long time. These alerts sounds started only recently.
You should still check it to make sure the alert sounds haven't somehow been changed or turned on (if previously off). You also need to check any other apps that you have running, including anything in System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Items. See if any of those might have some kind of audible alert sounds.
Shouldn't an alert sound be accompanied by something on the monitor screen?
Not necessarily. Depends on what the developer of any particular app decides to do.

  • Word and Excel quit for no apparent reason

I bought this G4 with Office X already loaded. I've regularly updated the main system and now in the last few weeks both Word and Excel have started crashing for no apparent reason.
It does not matter what I'm doing, I can be typing, saving, opening or closing and they just crash when they want to!!
    Anyone any clues?

  • TS3212 something is wrong with my itunes, none of my 4 ipod devices show up when i try to connect them to itunes. but they do light up and show that they are charging, and two have lost sound...

ok, so two of my devices have lost sound the first was about 2 years ago, but i kept the device because i could still use it for other things, then i got a " new to me" ipod about 6 months ago, and it too has, within the last two days, lost sound, and while trouble shooting these issues i have been trying to restart/refresh/whatever one of them and now none of the 4 devices that i have is shouing up on my itunes!!! this is verry upsetting since the others didnt have any problems, and i really dont want to pay $ for a fix. do not have the money for that, nor do i expect this kind of thing to happen to me more thann once.
i have gone through all the diagnostic tests with my computer and each ipod multiple times, even trying to reverse the order in which i perform the steps, as a last resort, making no progress. i have downloaded new versions of itunes 5 times within the last 3 hours and restarted my computer 7 times. my devices do not show up in "my computer" but they do display as charging when i plug them into the usb port, and to wrap up i have tried using all 3 usb ports on my computer to do this.
please do not post that i should restart my computer or that i need to restart my device! please do not tell me to go to an apple store or buy a new device! but all other help/ ideas will be greatly appriciated.
    thank you

    Clean the dock connectors.
    Try different sync cables.

  • I have lost sound on my iPad in apps unless I use headphones ,does anyone know how to get sound back without them .I have used the mute volume on the bar at bottom of screen and the slider volume control there only shows when headphones are plugged in !

I have lost sound on my iPad in apps unless I use headphones ,does anyone know how to get sound back without them .I have used the mute volume on the bar at bottom of screen and the slider volume control there only shows when headphones are plugged in !
I also tried resetting settings all to no avail ...I looked up some advice and watched utube video advice on how to fix without success..
The volume control button on side does not work ,I got the iPad last August and wonder if it is a fault that means I must return it for replacement from where it was purchased ?

The Retrospect you used way back when is no longer around. The company was sold and that company produced a new version of Retrospect - Retrospect 8.x
So, as you've been told, you would have to be running a Tiger system with an old version of Retrospect software (5.x or 6.x - you would need to know) assuming you can find the software.
As best I can remember you cannot extract files from a Retrospect backup except using the software since Retrospect did not normally make a file by file backup rather it created an archive of the files in the backup. I'm assuming that the EMC/Retrospect people have told you that old Retrospect backups are not accessible by Retrospect 8.x?

  • HT4623 I have just finished the upgradation to an iOS 6.1.3 and have lost sound in Music and Videos. I am using an iPhone 4S. My iPhone doesn't produce sound when playing Youtube or local camera videos. However ringtones and notifications sound works fine

I have just finished the upgradation to an iOS 6.1.3 and have lost sound in Music and Videos. I am using an iPhone 4S. My iPhone doesn't produce sound when playing Youtube or local camera videos. However ringtones and notifications sound works fine.It is quite strange as well. Have you encountered this issue before? If yes then what's the solution?

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • Help I have lost sound

I have lost sound on loud speaker, ipad2 says I am on headphones when I am not. Testing ringer comes through speakers but nothing else. I am not muted nor are notifications. Complete novice on iPad. help

Do NOT reset anything in your settings. Try the reset this way.
Reset (holding Home and Sleep/Wake until Apple logo appears, then releasing and letting normal reboot continue).
In the event that you did miss something in the system sounds settings, this may help you to better understand how they work.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • TS3276 I have no sound on my MacBook Air for sending and receiving messages. All sound settings have been checked and are OK. This problem has arisen many times and is intermittent in the sense that the sound returns and disappears for no apparent reason.

  • I have no sound for games in my iPad. I have tried the reset but it does not work. The speakers work as I have sound for music and videos.

I have no sound for games in my iPad. I have tried the reset but it does not work. The speakers work as I have sound for music and videos.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430 It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

hi! I have lost mail for a month and I want to ask you to restore it from the backup.

Nobody here can restore your email for you - we're just other Apple users like yourself.
Responsibility for backing up email is yours, so you'll have to restore it from your own backups.
