Proc, Function, package wrap

Dear All,
Is there any other way to encrypt our Procedures, Functions, packages in Oracle other than wrap utility provided?

DBMS_DDL is an alternative to producing essentially the same output.How??

I think there's no way to encrypt PL/SQL objects without using wrap Utility. And why you don't want to use wrap utility. Wrap utility is the utility which created for this purpose only

  • Generate Typed Datasets from Procs/Functions

    I have a client with a DBA team that wants to use procs (or functions) to wrap all CRUD operations. They do not want any applications to be able to directly access tables.
    Is there any way to have ODT generate a typed dataset based on any combination of proc/function/refcursor - anything other than a table itself?
    Thanks!

    Just an update on this, there seems to be some functionality along these lines, but I don't see anything in any of the documentation, and am not quite sure how it works.
    Once I figured out (thanks to posts here) that I had to re-create my connections after installing the ODP.net beta, I suddently had the ability to drag a function from Server Explorer over to a blank dataset designer window. Upon configuring the generated table adapter, there are now options for stored procs, but there's a mapping/binding thing that I don't quite get in the case of an IN OUT param. It does, however seem to correctly derive the columns and data types in the ref cursor param that's being passed back.
    So this thing is generating a typed dataset that mirrors a ref cursor in an out param. This is great news to me.
    As no 'official' Oracle person has chimed in yet, my only concern is that this functionality is not fully implemented, or has some issues, and may go away at the end of the beta. Can anyone shed any light on this?

  • Sql Developer - View source code of procedures, functions & packages in another schema

    Our developers need the ability to view procedures, function, packages etc. in the production database (using SQL DEVELOPER).  They don't have access to sign on as the owner of these
    objects in Production.  They must use their own limited access UserID for this purpose.
    This limited access UserID has been granted select privilege on DBA_SOURCE & DBA_OBJECTS.  The developers need the ability to view the source of these object via
    the tree view in SQL DEV.  They should be able to click on "other users" in the SQL DEV tree view and see a listing of the owner schema objects.  Then they should
    be able to select the desired object and view the source code.  These developers are used to using GUI interfaces.  Selecting from DBA_SOURCE would not be an
    option for them.
    I understand that if the limited user is granted SELECT ANY DICTIONARY or SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE then this functionality will work.  The problem is those
    privileges/roles  provide much more access than should be granted to these limited access users. Granting DBA to these users is also not an option.
    In TOAD and other end-user tools this functionality works when only select privilege on DBA_SOURCE & DBA_OBJECTS has been granted.  We need this same functionality
    in SQL DEV.
    While searching this forum and the internet, I see that other installations have this same issue.
    Please enhance SQL Developer with this functionality.
    Thank you, ellen

    Just to double check that I'm interpreting the problem correctly, is the following true:
    select * from all_objects where object_name = 'DBA_SOURCE'
    returns nothing
    select * from dba_source where name = your PL/SQL module
    returns all the code

  • Parsing Column Value. SQL / Stored Proc/ Function ?

    Hi,
    I just started writing SQL. Need your valuable input for the following query,
    Need to query a table and parse a column to produce a desired output.
    like suppose my column value is
    #ADFA
    /SDFGAS
    {ABC}: 123
    {BCA}: 456
    {DEF}: 789
    and i need to get an out put as follows
    {ABC} {BCA} {DEF}
    123 456 789
    so the patterns are defined.
    I some how tried and reached through SQL, but there should be better way than this. So posted this question.
    I tried using SQL itself (using substr, instr & decode functions in the select statement)... with out using stored proc/ function as i have not created one earlier.. I am just learning the syntax and trying it.
    The psuedo code i have planned is
    function substring(column_value, search_string)
    var start_index NUMBER;
    var end_index NUMBER;
    var result VARCHAR2;
    result = 'N/A';
    start_index = instr(column_value, search_string) + 4
    if start_index >= 4
    end_index = instr(substr(column_value, 0, start_index), CHR(13)-1)
    if start_index >= 4 && end_index >=0
    result = substr(column_value, start_index, end_index);
    return result;
    I just wrote it like writing in a programming language. Need to implement this through Stored Proc/ Function. Please let me know your comment on this

    Oops, I think regular expressions are not available in my current oracle version :-(
    I am having Oracle 9i.
    Got it.. Yes it is available from 10G onwards.. :-(

  • Read access to procedures,function,packages and triggers

    Hi,
    I created a user with CREATE SESSION,SELECT ANY TABLE privilege. My objective is to create a user with read only access to other schemas. But the newly created user is not able to read procedures,function,packages and triggers. The new user need read access to procedures,function,packages and triggers. What is the priviege required for this access? Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Mat.

    Hi,
    Grant select all will give select privileges to all schema level objects except procedures,function,packages and triggers. But I need to grant read privileges on these objects to newly created user.

  • ORA-04044: procedure, function, package, or type is not allowed here

    Hi,
    I am trying to build an object hierarchy.The object hirarcy is for a multi division, multi department, multi cost center and multi operation Organisation.Multiple department can store into multiple divisions, multiple cost center can store into multiple departments, multiple operations can store into multiple cost centers.
    The structure I try to built like this:
    create type div_obj_new as object
    (id number,
    divdesc varchar2(100)
    create type div_obj_tab as
    table of div_obj_new
    create type dept_obj_new as object
    (id number,
    deptdesc varchar2(100),
    dept_div number
    create type dept_obj_tab as
    table of dept_obj_new
    create type cctr_obj_new as object
    (id number,
    cctrdesc varchar2(100),
    cctr_dept number
    create type cctr_obj_tab as
    table of cctr_obj_new
    create type oper_obj_new as object

    Actually I want to create an object view or object table with all the details of division, department , cost center and operation and it will store depending upon the respective upper level hirarcy 's id.For eg. department details can be fetched through division id etc..
    So I can't figure out what to do for this kind of structure and how to do that.
    I am running Oracle Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for Windows 2000.
    Any help , advice or suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Cameron,
    Thanks for your great suggestion.Actually what you have suggested is correct and it was tested by me correctly.But actually I want to store records in the multiple objects hirarcy depending upon the respective upper level hirarcy 's id.For say how can I retrive all records related to divisionID which is in the top level hirarchy? So by selecting divisionID=01, how can I easily select all depts,cost centers and Operation details?
    Again I have another problem , when try to retrive record using PL/SQL I got some problem.
    Structure as created above.Again I am giving here.

    As part of our company procedures, every single DB Object, module, report, etc... must have a technical documentation.
    It is, kind of waste of time, to write for every single piece of program or DB Object, the Technical Documentation.
    I know (for the Java files) there is a utility which take the comments inside the java code a generate a documentation file.
    Do you know if ORACLE have something similar (any utility, plug-in or aything else) or do you know if a third-party software could do that.
    Thanks a lot for your help.

  • DISABLE VIEW, FUNCTION, PACKAGE

    Hi all,
    My export/import is having error in its logs becuase there are invalid objects like views, functions, packages, etc whis is caused by a missing db_links.
    This dump was taken from PROD so the link there exist. But we are importing it to the DEV server and we do not need the db_link and so with all the views, functions, etc
    that are associated with it. But i do not want to drop them just to clear the error because it is tedious.
    Is it possible to disable the views, and other invalid objects so that my export/import logs are clear of errors?
    By the way I know this is no big deal, but the auditing group do not want to see errors in the logs.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    I would suggest that instead of taking schema exp and imp ,
    do it just for the tables only.
    exp system/pwd file=backup.dmp indexes=y grants=y tables=schema_name.table_name log=table_export.logand then import using
    imp system/pwd file=backup.dmp ignore=Y statistics=none tables=table_name fromuser=A touser=AThis will it will import only the tables.

  • The problem (procedure, function, package) in  object browser

    we are using htmldb 2.0 in oracle DB 9.2.0.6. When we are using http server from 9.2 in the object browser for procedures, functions, packages display window show only header and all window is red, all other objects look fine. when the same DB I config with http server 10g(companion cd) it is display all objects fine.
    PS we didn't forget to put
    AddType text/xml xbl
    AddType text/x-component htc
    Is it bug in htmldb through http server 9.0.3.

    I thought this was a browser issue. I "see red" from IE from my home PC, but I thought that's because my browser isn't up to date. Update downloads are too big for the dialup connection from home.
    My IE and FF browsers work fine from work - where I update them regularly - over a nice fast connection.

  • Opening tables/functions/packages annoyance

    Ok, I've been using SQL Developer since I got the first beta of Raptor. I've had a frustration for a while and finally got a chance to put it in writing to see if anyone can tell me how to adjust this behavior (hopefully).
    Open a table in SQL developer and view your data. In my case I opened a table that has audit data for performance of package runtimes. I put some filters in it and the like, sorting and what not.
    Now, Open a package/function/procedure. Voila, your table is no longer open and you lose the sorting/filters you had applied and get two copies of the package/function/procedure open. The first replaces the table window w/ a non-editable version of the package/function/procedure, the other is a useful window where you can edit the package/function/procedure.
    First, what the heck is that first window w/ the actions button? I never use it and it's always closing my other windows, like tables, that I need...it's a real time waste.
    Second, is there any way to make that window with the actions button just never appear? It's just always in my way.
    Thanks,
    dave

    I don't know about your 'actions button' issue, but I can address the other.
    Sql developer supports multiple open windows (or panes depending upon what you want to call it) and multiple connections. In general, sql dev will change the active window to whatever object you select. This can be overridden by using the red pin near the upper left hand of the window that you want to keep. If you do that, when you select a new table, proc, etc, it will open that one in a second, third, etc tab. You can even drag these windows (tabs) around and show multiple objects at the same time :). In general, it is an extremely flexible framework.
