Procedure to install abap + java trial on windows xp

Hi,
I have ordered SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP Trial Version CD (system id "NSP", release 7.0 + SP8), installed it successfully (I could start it and work with it), and I then tried to install JAVA Trial (system id "J2E", release 7.0 + SP11 ; I downloaded it from the SDN link) application server right afterwards.
In step 2, I've got an error stating that DIR_PROFILE could not be found.
In fact, it seems that the error comes from SAPSYSTEMNAME undefined as shown in sapinst_dev.log file:

Do you have an idea how to correct this problem?
thx a lot

  • Dump when logging onto NW7.0 ABAP/Java trial - DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_REQUEST

    Hello all,
I downloaded and installed the NW 7.0 Java & ABAP trial on Linux/VMware.
Everything went smoothly, until I logged on, when I got a short dump DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_REQUEST. I can continue working with it - I could even install the SAP license - but I keep getting the same dump every now and again.
I found [this thread|Short Dump: Before Login in SAP Netweaver 7 ABAP Trial; and a few others describing the same issue, however it's not going away. The firewall is completely disabled. I get the error logging in via sapgui for windows SP4 and also when using PlatinGUI on the server itself. The machine has plenty of resources and there are no errors starting up.
I did have a problem where there was a message about not finding "virtuell host in ifconfig" on startup, so I changed my hostname to n4shost and pointed it to 127.0.0.1 in the hosts file - the error went away.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Mike

OK, that makes sense in your setup. I run SAP inside a VM, in a non-networked scenario VMWare creates a local network between the host laptop and the virtual machine and assigns addresses to both using DHCP. Interestingly I also found an easier workaround can be done just by using VMWare: add another network card, make it a static IP and don't connect it.
Actually now that you mention it, in a past life as a techie I remember we set up servers in exactly that way: Static IPs for an internal server network and DHCP to the outside on a separate network card. I guess even at interprocess level the system doesn't rely on everything being local (otherwise it would just use localhost).
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Full ABAP Edition-Trial on Windows Vista?

    Hi All
I wonder if someone has successfully installed NetWeaver 2004s ABAP Trial Version on Windows Vista.
    Thank you so much!!!

    Hi Gustavo,
I tried turning off user account control but I still couldn't get the sneak preview ABAP to install under Vista.  It just goes into a never-ending cycle of installing Microsoft updates and then rebooting.  I have a feeling it is trying to install some XP updates but Vista stops it, and so the next time I start the installer it tries again.
If anybody has had any luck installing under Vista please post your steps!
For now I think I might try installing it in a virtual machine.

  • Instalation of JAVA 2SDK on windows XP

I am begenning to study the language JAVA, I copy a free version on a repertory C:\Documents and Settings\Propritaire\Mes documents and in this repertory create my first programm. Under MS-DOS I tried the command JAVAC program.java ... "javac is neither recognized as an internal or external command ". Can you help me ?

    Hello YMOUCHEL,
The two most common installation problems are setting the PATH and CLASSPATH environmental variables. You are having trouble with your PATH environmental variable. Permanently setting the PATH environmental variable allows convenient access to all the Java Virtual Machine and all Java 2 SDK executable programs. While setting the PATH environmental variable is not strictly required, it is highly recommend and widely used in practice. If you don't set the PATH environmental variable, you need to specify the full path to the executable every time you run it. It's useful to set the PATH environmental variable permanently so it will persist after rebooting.
I'm not quite sure where you have installed the J2SDK, but it is typically installed on the C:\ drive in a folder called C:\j2sdk1.4.0 or something similar.
The error that you are reporting:
    C:\>javac
The name specified is not recognized as an
internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
means that the Operating System cannot find the 'java' command; you need to tell the Operating System where to find the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and Java tools.
You don't necessarily need to set PATH and CLASSPATH environment variables, you can always include the full directory path in each command explicitly. The problem arises when users want to run the Java 2 SDK executables (javac.exe, java.exe, javadoc.exe, etc.) from any directory without having to type the full directory path of the command.
On a Windows platform you will need to open a DOS command line window. Assuming that you installed J2SDK 1.4.0 on your C: drive in a folder called j2sdk1.4.0, then you could run the 'java' command like this:
    C:\>C:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin\java -version
This explicitly points to the Java 2 SDK executable, java.exe, in the bin directory of J2SDK 1.4.0 installation on drive C:.
To permanently set PATH environment variable on Windows/XP:
    1. Choose Start, Control Panel, and double-click System properties icon.
    2. Select the Advanced tab and then Environment Variables button.
    3. Look for "Path" in the User Variables and System Variables.
    4. Add the path to the right end of the "Path" in the System Variables.
The path for the previous example would be:
    C:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin
The PATH environment variable on Windows is not case sensitive. The PATH can be a series of directories separated by semi-colons (;). Click "Set", "Apply" and "OK".
Click http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/jre/install-windows.html for more information on Windows XP installation of JavaTM 2 SDK, Standard Edition Version 1.4.x .

  • Having trouble installing Acrobat X trial on windows

I can't install  the trial version of Adobe Acrobat X Professional for Windows. I've downloaded the product but I'm getting a message box response stating Adobe Reader could not open "Hairston Acrobat Download" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.

What is this Hairston Acrobat Download which you are trying to use?  If you are looking for the trial of Acrobat X Professional you can locate it at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=acrobat_pro&loc=en.  Also as part of the install process your copy of Adobe Reader will be removed.

  • Can't install Photoshop CS3 Trial on Windows

Hey, I downloaded the trial version of CS3 the other day, wanting to try it out and see what it's like, I got to the end of the installation and it says
"A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial period for Adobe Photoshop CS3.
Click Quit to see if restarting your computer or reinstalling the software fixes this problem. Otherwise, click Continue to display a screen where you can enter a valid serial number to begin using the product without trial."
I'd rather not buy the software just yet, just want to try it out. I know CS3 is a little out-dated but due to pc requirements, I'm not able to run CS4 on my laptop, also I'm used to using CS3 as I used to use it on an old computer but for some reason it won't work on my laptop.
I've tried reinstalling it, I've also tried to restart my laptop and the program and none of these got it to work.
Is there anything else that can be done?
    Thanks.

  • Java Trial AND ABAP Trial

I succesfully installed the Netweaver 2004s ABAP Trial.
Now I want to also dig deeper into SAP Java, especially Web Dynpro Development.
What am I supposed to do? Can I download and install the Java Trial in parallel with the ABAP Trial? Can I run them both at the same time for example to access ABAP function modules from Java via RFC?
And what's that SAP NetWeaver Application Server, Java EE 5 Edition for? The Java Trial already comes with an app server...

I tried installing SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Java Trial it on my laptop (Win XP 32 bit) and on a Server (Win 2003 server x64 bit), it failed.

your help would be highly appreaciated.
    thanks,

    Only work with 32bits
