Procedures and thred
The question is a little bit of strange, and I didn't know in which section to put it. So here it go. I have Oracle 11g R2 database Enterprise Edition.
I wrote an oracle procedure, that does it's job exelent. Now I put dbms_application_info.set_session_longops part in it, so I could recorde progress. When I do
select * from V$SESSION_LONGOPS; I can monitor progress.
The problem is when I use timer in C# to select needed informations about progress and display it to user.
I put my procedure execution in separate threed, but once a procedure starts doing it's job it complitly blocks TIMER. I also use OleDb provider. So mu question is:
IS THERE A WAY TO CONFIGURE AN ORACLE PROCEDURE TO RUN IN THE BACKGROUND IN DATABASE SO IT DOESN'T BLOCK OTHER THREEDS IN MY C# PROGRAM.
The question is strange I know, but I don't know where to start. Thx to all.
This is not an Oracle issue, but a client side and client language issue.
Basically, you need to call something like CreateThread() (a standard Win32 API call) to create a thread and in that thread run the execute PL/SQL call.
The timer needs to run in the main thread - that is not blocked by an synchronous call.
A call to Oracle is a synchronous call. This means that the execution pointer of the current thread is running an external call. This thread can only continue when that call returns and the CPU execution pointer in your thread can continue processing machine code in your thread. A timer needs to execute the timer notification event in that thread. And if that thread's execution pointer is "busy somewhere else", that timer notification code cannot be executed.
The solution to this is to have 2 sets of CPU execution pointers in your code. One that deals with the "busy somewhere else" (running a synchronous call) and one that is available to deal with event management in your code. And this is typically done using the CreateThread() API call for a process running on the Windows kernel.
Consult your programming language documentation on how to create a thread in your code.

How to copy procedures and packages from one server to another?
Hi,
I have 439 packages and 178 procedures located in one server called MAXWELL.
I need to copy these objects to another server called TITAN.
The schema names is SPCBR in both servers.
So both servers have an instance running with this schema SPCBR.
SPCBR in TITAN server has their tables with table data which was generated by an export/import process from MAXWELL server.
However, procedures and packages were not copied by the export/import because I used the clause 'tables'.
Now, what can I do in order to equalize procedures and packages in both databases? I can't risk in damaging or duplicating data in my database located in TITAN server, ok?
Thanks,Another simple alternative, according to AskTom (http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950:8:::::F4950_P8_DISPLAYID:454220160386)

it extracts one procedure, function or package to a file. Thats it. If you
wanted to get all of the procedures in a schema extracted to the current working

spool off
set heading on
set feedback on
set linesize 130
set termout on
@xtmpx.sql
---------------- eof ---------------------------------
You can see how to filter on that one by adding to the where clause if you want.
Just run @getallcode_INSTALL to run all of the scripts... -
Problem with store procedures and Hibernate
I got some problem when I am trying to override INSERT, and UPDATE operations in Hibernate. When I am trying to make an INSERT, everything seems to be fine but no data is being insert and no excpetion throws.
When I am trying to make an UPDATE following excpetion throws:

Use of Procedure and Functions in ADF BC
Hi,
In ADF 11g
1. can I use oracle function and procedures ( having in and OUT parameters) to expose as service interface
2. if yes , How can this be done. and what are the allowed data types as input to procedure/function and can be returned by procedure/function
3. How the transaction control will be achieved using ADF BC service interface.
E.g. one ADF BC creates orders in order details and second creates Order lines in Order lines table. Now if order is created successfully but line creation fails then I want order to be rolled back also.
Thanks.google it out.
How to get two out param which is used in Procedure

FBL5N Adding Dunning Procedure and Accounting clerk in layout option
Hi Gurus
Plaese help me to add the field Dunning Procedure and Accounting Clerk in the hidden field option for changing layout in FBL5N
I have checked for the option of Define Special fields for finding and sorting data but it does not allow the fileds from table other than BSEG , BKPF.
Thanks
Jhanvihi Jhanvi,
Execute the FBL5N and create your own Layout and from there you select the fields of Dunning and Accounting Clerk and then save that Layout.
If the above fields are not available in that option then go to Tcode O7R3 it is for the Special Fields of finding and sorting DATA.
Click on New Entries and enter the Table name and select the field from the F4 slection and then save it.
Once again go to Tcode Fbl5n and select your layout and now you can see that fields added to that.
Hope this will solve your problem

Through Programaticaly How To change Dunning Procedure and Dunning level
I am having the requirement to change the dunning procedure and dunning level programatically.
Is there any Function module or BAPI or sample code where I can change the dunning procedure and push the dunning level to
30(No matter at what level but it has to push to 30).Try these function modules available through T.code FQEVENTS
FKK_SAMPLE_0351 or FKK_SAMPLE_0307 or FKK_SAMPLE_0744 or FKK_SAMPLE_0304
Or try creating one procedure to exclusively handle a particular level /dunning activity only and replace the procedure in the master data
Hope it offers some help -
Dunning by dunning procedure and collection strategy
Hi All,
Have some questions around dunning.
1. Can dunning by dunning procedure and collection strategy coexist in the same company code - if this cannot be achieved by config can it be achieved by development - can we have something like account determination IDs of X to use dunning procedure, account determination IDs of Y to use collection strategy?
2. If the answer to 1. is no, can one company code use dunning procedure and another company code use collection strategy?
3. What is SAP's (or any other proven) recommended approach to migrate a production system utilising dunning by dunning procedure to dunning by collection strategy?
Cheers.Have a look
SAP-ISU will be used to carry out initial collection activities. Initial 1 or 2 reminder letters (based on the customer type, Live or Closed) will generated from SAP-ISU. Thereafter, the account will be managed in Tallyman. Thus, all the subsequent activities, such as sending further reminder letters, sending debt to collection agencies, carry out warrant activities and taking customers to court will be carried out in Tallyman system. During the time, the account is in Tallyman, no dunning activities will be carried out in SAP.
There will be daily interfaces from SAP-ISU to Tallyman to update Tallyman of Accounts that have passed a certain dunning level in SAP-ISU and any changes to the account that are currently being managed in Tallyman. Similarly there will be interfaces from Tallyman to SAP to update SAP of Accounts, that have been marked for write off in Tallyman. Fees and Charges that have been applied in Tallyman, for example court fees, warrant fees etc.

Tuning a procedure and using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions
Hi
I have Procedure that have 3 curosrs which are nested one below with in each other
and it looks as below
it's structure will look some thing look like this
declare
empno_fetch number;
CURSOR deu_process IS
SELECT empno
FROM emp
WHERE flg_process = 'N'
AND ROWNUM <= 5000
ORDER BY empno;
CURSOR dup_all IS --c1 fetch around 400000 records
(select empno
from emp
where empno>l_empno
order by empno
where rownum<=empno_fetch;
CURSOR rules IS --c2
SELECT rule_id, rule_score, name_Of_func
FROM rule;
begin
l_count := 1;
OPEN dedupe_rule_attr;
LOOP
BEGIN
Here one loop is used for fetching 5000 records at time and
Here deu_process cursor is opened ,assume it fetches one record
Here another cursor dup_all is used for fetching the records and assume it fetched 400000 then
Here another cursor is opened name where it fetches 10 rows
Here logic is if first row then
call's stored function which has following functionalty
it compares fields such as address of outer most cursor i.e deu_process with all the address of the other rows i.e 400000 rows and return a number
if second row then
call's another stored function which has
compares other fields such as first name,last name
if third then other field
so on ....
up to 10
and then finally ends
so if i comment all the rules loop then it takes only one min to execute .If it validaes all of them if takes 14 minutes to execute .so there is problem in that 10 procedures to execute
So i found an approach to run all the rules simultaneously using dbms_job .But i face a problem that i can't uderstand how to send the input and out put parameter's to calling procedure.And these parameter's must be passed by variable from called procedure to calling procedure
Please suggest me what is the syntax of dbms_job with input and output parameters with variable's that must be passed as formal parameter's
Regarding DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT I am getting following error
Declare
x number:=1;

jobnumber number;

begin
--a:=1;
insert into emp_vamsi(select 677,ENAME,SAL,DEPTNO,MANAGER from emp where empno=v);
commit;
--a:=2;
--x:=a;
end;
using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions which returns out and in parameters to calling procedure environment .I can't get this with out using data base table's.
If you have any method for this Plese suggest
And also please suggest me weather using job's is a good idea ,If not than suggest me what ever will the other approach.
Thank's and Regard's

I have looked at all sql trace file ,<br>
I found that there is no problem in sql statemens all of them are using proper <br>indexes execpt the folllowing statement<br>
<br>
SELECT nvl(COUNT(ref_appln_no),0)<br>
FROM ci_cust_dedupe_mast<br>

<br>
This statement executes only once for 1*3,77000*10 times <br>
The function that i had sent previously executes more than 4000000*20 times .<br>
I think all it takes is only for iterations that are caused<br>

I am also sending sql trace for reference

You are right thats what i want
I have a table A
EmpNo Empname Currtuser_id Update_date Updateby
1 Denis Oracle
2 Scott Scott
3 Mara MMara
1)what i need to do is when any user tries to update the table Table A
Then the Trigger or procedure should check whether user is exits in table A in column currtuser_id
If his user id exits in table A
Then allow him to update the TABLE A
and insert his EMPNO in UPDATE_BY
and SYSDATE in UPDATE_BY
He will do all this process using forms
But i need to have trigger or procedure in database level for table
2) I have another table like 10 tables
Suppose TABLE B
When user tries to update TABLE B
Then the Trigger or procedure should check whether user is exits in table A in column currtuser_id
If his user id exits in table A
Then allow him to update the TABLE B
and insert his EMPNO in UPDATE_BY
and SYSDATE in UPDATE_BY
3) I need to have a common Procedure and call that procedure in all tables in UPDATE TRIGGER
Thanks for your help

Creating page items from pl/sql procedure and using them on a page
I have a page containing 2 select lists (P21_DEPARTMENTS and P21_DATE). Originally I added them as items that were "select list with submits". The problem is that based on the clearance level of the currently logged on user I only wanted the P21_DEPARTMENTS to be a select list if the user was an administrator. If however the user is not an admin then I want the page to have a hidden form field called P21_DEPARTMENTS that stores the user's department and has a label item that has the department name.
There is also a report region that generates a table based on the department selected from the select list (if the user is an admin) or the value stored in the hidden form field if the user is not.
My problem is that I cannot have both those items on the same page and use the HTML built-in authentication to determine which item should be rendered because I need to use the same ID for both items so that the stored procedure in my report region doesn't break. HTML does not permit items to share the same ID.
I tried to circumvent the problem by creating a stored procedure that performs all of the item rendering in the procedure and uses "htp.p()" to output all of my HTML code. This solution would allow me to pass a parameter into the procedure informing me as to whether or not the user is an administrator. If the user is an administrator the procedure would use a conditional statement and render a select list. If not, the hidden form field and label option would be used instead.
I finally got the stored procedure working perfectly. Now I am encountering the most bizarre thing. Since the "select list with submit" was not working (I used the same code that gets generated when I created other items using htmlDB's GUI) I decided to use a JavaScript function instead that gets triggered by the onChange event. I send along the value that is currently selected in the select list and in the function I set:
location.href='http://www.myoraclesite.com/pls/htmldb/f?p=111:21:729740000000000000::NO::P21_DEPARTMENTS:1';
In theory this should work. The problem is that it doesn't. The page reloads and the P21_DEPARTMENTS select list is not pre-selected.
The only thing I can think of is that when htmlDB generates page items that you've created with it's own admin tool it assigns some internal guid or something as opposed to when someone tries to generate dynamic page items of their own from a pl/sql procedure it's like the application doesn't even know they exist.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
My only other solution would be to create a totally separate page (one for admin and another for non-admin). I would really like to avoid this.
Thanks in advance.I would love to be able to generate my menus and
various other items in my htmlDB applications in much
the same way I can using ASP, PHP and Cold Fusion.
Users should have the ability to write server-side
code wherever they feel like it. The way htmlDB works
right now I spend more time trying to figure out how
to create simple effects and generate simple
interfaces when I need to be building a portal. Ami - it's important to understand that HTML DB is not like other languages. Thus, trying to force concepts which are common in other languages into HTML DB will often result in more work.
It's definitely worth the time to go over the HTML DB 2-day Developer, which can be found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/pdf/B14377_01.pdf
I can build a portal using Classic ASP, C#, PHP or Cold
Fusion in like 1/10 of the time that it takes me to
build one using htmlDB. I understand that this is not
meant for the hard-core programmer but no web
programming application in today's day and age should
prevent experts from getting under the hood.And I can build a Portal in HTML DB in 1/10 the time it will take me to do it in any other language. It's like anything else - proficiency comes with practice and work.
As for getting under the hood, there is plenty of places you can do that with HTML DB. Keep in mind that HTML DB itself is an HTML DB application, so the limits on what you can build with HTML DB are virtually limitless.
Sorry for the vent there. After spending the last 2
days trying to figure out how to implement such a
straightforward thing and now being informed that it
can't be done kind of bugged me.I understand your frustration, as I've been there before. My rule for beginners is that if you are writing more than a line or two of code in the first week, you're doing something wrong. Stop, take a break, and then use the ample resources (including searching this forum) to help solve your problem. There are plenty of resources available for you to learn about HTML DB on the HTML DB home page: http://otn.oracle.com/htmldb
Good luck,
- Scott - -
Getting error while executing a procedure and assign the output in BPEL
Hi
I am getting the Following error while deploying BPEL in 10.1.3.1. I have invoked Database Adapter and called a procedure and that procedure returns a output. I have assigned that output to a variable.
empty variable/expression result.
xpath variable/expression expression "/ns2:OutputParameters/ns2:GREETING" is empty at line 98, when attempting reading/copying it.
Please make sure the variable/expression result "/ns2:OutputParameters/ns2:GREETING" is not empty.
Please reply me with SolutionsHi,
Are you getting this error while deploying or testing ?
Normally this will happen due to namespace mismatch issue. But if you have auto-created the variables then JDev will take care of it so it should not be a problem
Also, please check if this also happens if the code is deployed to 10.1.3.3 ?

Relation between Tax procedure and Pricing procedure
Dear All,
I would like to get more clarity on Tax procedure, Pricing procedure.
a) Why do we have Tax procedure and assigned to Country?
b) If the tax procedure has been created and assigned to Country-IN (in FI module), then why do we need to create pricing procedure with same condition type for purchasing in MM module? We are even creating lot of pricing procedure for Sales in SD module.
Regards
Manivannan RHi
Tax
During SD document transactions, tax calculation procedure TAXUSX is only relevant to determine the tax liability accounts for output sales tax. Notice that in pricing procedure RVAXUS, the condition types XR1 - XR6 carry the tax rates and tax amounts - resulted from the external tax system calculation - which is posted to tax G/L accounts. However, the tax accounts are not specified in the pricing procedure but rather in the tax calculation procedure.
Tax codes are the link between pricing procedure and tax calculation procedure.
Pricing
The primary job of a pricing procedure is to define a group of condition types in a particular sequence. The pricing procedure also determines:
Which sub-totals appear during pricing
To what extent pricing can be processed manually
Which method the system uses to calculate percentage discounts and surcharges
Which requirements for a particular condition type must be fulfilled before the system takes the condition into account
Example
Example of a Pricing Procedure
If a sales department processes sales orders for a variety of foreign customers, the department can group the customers by country or region. A pricing procedure can then be defined for each group of customers. Each procedure can include condition types that determine, for example, country-specific taxes. In sales order processing, you can specify pricing procedures for specific customers and for sales document types. The system automatically determines which procedure to use.
Pricing Procedures in the R/3 System
The standard system contains pre-defined pricing procedures, which contain frequently used condition types along with their corresponding access sequences. You can, of course, modify these procedures or create your own from scratch.
Creating and Maintaining Pricing Procedures
You create or maintain pricing procedures in Customizing for Sales. For more information on creating pricing procedures, see the online Implementation Guide for Sales and Distribution.
To reach the pricing procedure screen from SD Customizing:
1. Choose Basic Functions
2. ® Pricing ® Pricing control ® Define and assign pricing procedures.Select the transaction that you want to execute. -
Pricing Procedure and Condition Types
Hi Guys,
What do we mean by a pricing procedure in SD? Where do we assign this Pricing Procedure and what is the purpose of this?
Also what do we mean by the condition types? What does a condition type signify...
Please let me know the tcodes and also how can i understand these topics from a Sales order perspective? How do these coincide?
