Process a excel sheet in Emigall.

Hi Experts,
1. While on the Process Import File within the Emigall, under the Edit --> Data menu, there is a "Process in Excel" option. Can anyone share as to what is it used for and how to use the same?
2. Can we upload data from an Excel into Emigall like we do with a text file? If so, then do we need to follow the same format in excel as in a .txt?
Thanks,
Karan

Dear Karan,
The best way is while downloading the format file go to Edit -Data -download and save the file as .Xls in the system. Then process the file in the excel format, after processing, use save as option and  save the excel file as .txt and then upload it in the emigall using the same path Edit-Data- Upload.
I follow this way in downloading the format, processing it in excel and uploading back to the system as .txt
Hope this helps

  • Formatting / Post Processing of Exported Excel Sheet

    Hi ,
    Issue:
The Columns in the Excel Sheet are not fully visible when we export Report from CR viewer  to Excel Sheet. So we had planned for Post processing of the Excel Sheet using VBA or .NET etc to format the Excel Sheet, which would be on the server side, meaning the End user will never see the formatting process, but only the End Report. Is it possible to achieve this ??
    NOTE:
    1) VBA or .NET could not be run on the Linux Server but we could take advantage of the windows server in the presentation layer.
    Architecture:
    Presentation Layer
Linux Server <--> Windows .Net Server <--
    > End User
    {Crystal RAS Server} <-->{GUI CR Viewer Application}<--
    >
    Our Proposed Solution:
    1) Create an GUI Application that has CR viewer in it .
    2) Create a Separate Excel Export button on the webpage.
    3) when the user wants to export the report , he clicks the button.
    4) The GUI/ application saves the Exported Excel Sheet from the Ras server to the windows server.
    5) Then the .Net or the Vba code is applied to process/Format the Excel Sheet.
    6) When complete the End user is prompted for saving the report to a local disk.
    My questions:
    1) Can this be achieved ?
    2) what would be the best way to handle this ?
    3) what should be the process flow ?
    4) what are the things to be considered while planning for such a design ?
    Regards,
    Ramkumar Govindasamy

So you're looking at using RAS .NET SDK on the Application Layer to export a Crystal Report to Excel, save to temp file on the Application Layer machine, process that temp file, and stream that back out to the client web browser.
    Considerations:
    1. You need to create your own custom UI button to trigger the process, since the .NET Web Forms Crystal Reports viewer won't have the hooks to customize the Excel export.
    2. Running Excel VBA from your Web App may be problematic - you'd have to be particularly careful if the system is under load, since the Excel VBA - COM-Interop isn't necessarily designed for high throughput.  Under high load, you may get file locking or COM-Interop layer just refuse to process.  It's pretty common to try and catch exceptions and retry if you encounter this.
You'd likely not find anyone here familiar with 2 above, but 1 is fairly common.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Excel Sheet processing

    Dear Friends,
I am looking for a Function module that can process multiple worksheets in a Excel Sheet. Can any one help me in this.
Eg: I have a excel order form with several work sheets. first two work sheets describes the description of the order form. And the remaining worksheets contains the order details. I want to get each order details in to internal table.

You need some basic idea of range object in excel.
You need to create XLS with named ranges or create ranges dynamically.
This could be a neat way to upload XLS the OO way!
The function Module zjnc_get_range reads 1 range into any Internal
    table.
DATA: BEGIN OF it_test OCCURS 0,

    =Work!$A$14:$C$16 is range "test"
Numbers & Character data are no problem BUT dates are.
In Excel default date is mm/dd/yyyy but is dependent on PC's
international setting which is normally default
To Avoid any 5-March 3-May type mix-up, I have designed the FM so that you need to
enter dates as 'dd.Mon.yyyy i.e. in Characters in "Internet Date Format"

  • Excel sheet with tabs

    Hi all,
I have an excel sheet with 2 spread sheets. 1 hidden and other visible.
    1) How to read the excel so that the hidden fields dont come into the internal table in which the data is read?
    2) when the data is read from the visible tab of the excel sheet, data from hidden tab is also getting added in the internal table.
    How to avoid it?
Useful answers will be rewarded with points.
    please help!!!

    Hi,
If you have 2 tabs in your excel sheet. Open one tab which you want to process save it. Now it should be process active tab only.
    thanks,
    Sriram.

  • Getting short dumps while reading bulky data from excel sheet

    Hi all,
We have converted our non-unicode based sap system (R/3 4.7, Windows 2003,
SQL 2000) into a unicode based system recently. We are facing two peculiar
    problems for last few days.
*Problem 1 - *Whenever we want to upload the data from excel sheet, the
system throws a dump after reading about 400 entries, while last week the
same system used to read about 8000 entries in a single go.
*Problem 2 - *Also, whenever we realease a transport requst from development
containing a lot of changes, the request will reach the quality system but
without the changes. but if i ll try to import the changes into quality
system after generating more than one request containing small small
changes, they get reflected in QAS immediately. Is there any size
constraint in transporting a request fro DEV->QAS->PRD.
    Please suggest some ways.
I am pasting the dump (that I am getting while data uploading from Excel).

    Occurred on

The current application triggered a termination with a short dump.
    What happened?
The current application program detected a situation which really
should not occur. Therefore, a termination with a short dump was
triggered on purpose by the key word MESSAGE (type X).
    What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
    Error analysis
    Short text of error message:
Control Framework : Error processing control
    Technical information about the message:
    Diagnosis
An error occurred when the system tried to process the commands
from the Automation Queue on the presentation server.
There are several possible reasons for this:
    - The installation of the SAP GUI on the presentation server is
    faulty or obsolete.
    - There is an error in the application program
    - There is an error in the SAPGUI or an integrated control
    Procedure
    1. Make sure that you have imported the appropriate Support
Package, the current kernel, and GUI patch for the release of your
    System
    2. Check whether the error occurs locally on one or a few PCs, or
generally on all PCs. Note whether the error only occurs for some
users, for example because of a specific Customizing setting.
If it only occurs locally, this suggests an installation problem
with the PC. Check the installation; if necessary, reinstall the
software. In the dump, search for the SY-MSGLI field, since it may
point to the cause of the error.
    3. Activate the Automation Trace (in accordance with SAP Note
    158985).
4.Start the transaction and continue until the screen immediately
    before the dump.
    5. From the System -> Utilities menu, choose Autom. Queue,
    Synchronous Processing.
The status bar of the GUI displays the text:
    "Automation synchron flush mode on"
    6. If you now proceed with the application, the short dump will
display the ABAP call that caused the error; the Automation Trace
will contain the error on the presentation server.
    7. If necessary, load the short dump and trace files on to
sapservX, so that SAP can analyze them.

    How to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
    use the following search criteria:
    "MESSAGE_TYPE_X" C
    "SAPLOLEA" or "LOLEAU02"
    "AC_SYSTEM_FLUSH"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
    following documents to SAP:
    1. A hard copy print describing the problem.
To obtain this, select the "Print" function on the current screen.
    2. A suitable hardcopy prinout of the system log.
To obtain this, call the system log with Transaction SM21
and select the "Print" function to print out the relevant
    part.
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
    supply the source code.
To do this, you can either use the "PRINT" command in the editor or
print the programs using the report RSINCL00.
    4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.

for the 50 millionth time: Excel spreadsheets are NOT databases, you should NOT try to use them as such and NEVER access them using JDBC.
You should also under NO condition use the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver (that was actually the 78 millionth time that was told someone).

  • Pass data from excel sheet to pl/sql Procedure as parameter.

    Hello,
I am using ORACLE Database 11g and RHEL 5.
I have a procedure in my database which will update the required table for one value, which users passes from the front end (Java). Now i want to modify it to update multiple records in "BULK".
I have studied the SQL Loader and know about it. But this time i don't want to insert excel data into an oracle table , though i want to pass the excel data to a procedure as a parameter. Also want to do this process in a BULK mode.
Below is a sample code which take input for one value from front end and updated the table ...
    PROCEDURE TAB_UPDATE (SYMBOL     IN SYMBOL_INDEX.SYMBOL%TYPE,
    END_DATE IN SYMBOL_INDEX.END_DATE%TYPE)
    IS
    BEGIN
         V_QRY1 := '';
         V_QRY2 := '';
         V_QRY1 := 'UPDATE SYMBOL_INDEX';
         V_QRY2 := 'SET END_DATE = '''||END_DATE||''' WHERE SYMBOL_IDENTIFIER = '''||SYMBOL||''' AND END_DATE IS NULL';
         PRO_EXEC(V_QRY1,V_QRY2);
    EXCEPTION
END TAB_UPDATE ;Now this simple plsql procedure code updates one record at a time ,each time the user has to insert a new value from front end to update its value.
Please suggest me how can i make this procedure to take parameter value from an excel sheet and also update all the records in BULK.
Should i use varrays ? if possible please provide some useful links or sample code ...
    Thanks in advance !!!

  • How can i take an excel sheet record as input into my report

    Hi
I am having one object.I need to develop code for this.I can take excel sheet record as input.I thought it is some kind of BDC.But my TL told me that it is an enhancement. How can I start this object.
1.If it is a BDC : I am very new to BDC.I need total description how to start and populate.
2.If it is an enhancement : How can I take excel sheet record to input in to my object.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Aruna.

It seems neither BDC nor Enhancement.
See it could be some awkward process but definately would be Handy.
First create one dummy program in that code you just Take Excel data by simple Upload FM for Excel,Than from this program Use Submit <report> via selection screen.
Here <report> is your actual program.so you may need simultaneously control two program.
    But my TL told me
...But what is TL stands for?
    TL True Love
    TL Total Loss
    TL Turn Left
    TL Team Liquid  ??
    Cheers,
    Amit.
