Process Chain delayed to load

hi Experts,
am using BI 7.0(BW 7.0) my process chain is scheduled to run daily morning, it works fine, sometimes it gets delay in loading the data for even a longtime or stucks in the early start itself.Please help me in having a solution so that the process chain doesn't stuck or how to reduce the loadtime.

One reason could be the system resources are maximum utilized when this process chain was about to start. If it's the case you can change the schedule time.
You can check the Monitor screen - details tab for further information when it gets hanged and also check the job log / status of job in SM37 / any dumps recorded in ST22 ?

Load fails while running a Process Chain even before loading to the PSA.

Hi Experts,
We are working on BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0 on an IS-U Project.
We are loading Transaction Data using Process Chains. Data load is failing even before loading to the PSA and the error message is as below:
Error message during processing in BI
Diagnosis
An error occurred in BI while processing the data. The error is documented in an error message.
System Response
A caller 01, 02 or equal to or greater than 20 contains an error meesage.
Further analysis:
The error message(s) was (were) sent by:
Inbound Processing
Procedure
Check the error message (pushbutton below the text).
Select the message in the message dialog box, and look at the long text for further information.
Follow the instructions in the message.
Had anyone come across this type of error, if so, what could be the reason of failure and probable solution.

It might be a network connection between the source system and BW? Can you get your Basis colleague to look into the connection?

Process Chain delays

Process chain delay has default of 5 sec ,can that be reduced ??
is there any functional module,or program which can reduce this delays more??

we are encountering problems within the Process Chains. we have created a series of process chains that start everyday after 6.00pm. They all start in a sequence, some are set to start at 6.00pm and some are to start 7.00, some at 7.30pm. The subsequent jobs or infopackages that are being called within the chain, takes time to process or there's a delay and because of this all the subsequent PC chains are getting delayed.
We are in 2004s, SP10.I didnt set any delay time between the process, I had tried
activating/recativating all the process chains. Nothing seems to help.
Please advise.

Process chain for full load.

I have developed a Process chain for delta loads. Now my question is, can we use process chain to load full load data source for master data, if yeas then what are the steps.
If we can use process chain for full load to master data then can we use delta and full load infopackages in the process chain.

Hi Sata,
You can Include both Full and Delta in the Process Chain. But make sure that you execute the Init InfoPackage manually before executing the delta InfoPackage in the Process Chain.
For Full Load Process chain, add the infopackage
>DTP for Full Load---->delete PSA data variant(after 2days) -
>attribute change run
Normally load the hierarchy first then the attribute and text.

Loading through Process Chains 2 Delta Loads and 1 Full Load (ODS to Cube).

I am loading through Process chains with 2 Delta Loads and 1 Full load from ODS to Cube in 3.5. Am in the development process.
My loading process is:
Start - 2 Delta Loads - 1 Full Load - ODS Activation - Delete Index - Further Update - Delete overlapping requests from infocube - Creating Index.
My question is:
When am loading for the first am getting some data and for the next load i should get as Zero as there is no data for the next load but am getting same no of records for the next load. May be it is taking data from full upload, i guess. Please, guide me.

Hi,
The reason you are getting the same no. of records is as you said (Full load), after running the delta you got all the changed records but after those two delta's again you have a full load step which will pick whole of the data all over again.
The reason you are getting same no. of records is:
1> You are running the chain for the first time.
2> You ran this delta ip's for the first time, as such while initializing these deltas you might have choosen "Initialization without data transfer", as such now when you ran these deltas for the first time they picked whole of the data.Running a full load after that will also pick the same no. of records too.
If the two delats you are talking are one after another then is say u got the data because of some changes, since you are loading for a single ods to a cube both your delta and full will pick same "For the first time " during data marting, for they have the same data source(ODS).
Hope fully this will serve your purpose and will be expedite.

UTF-8 file via process chain doesn't load

Hello all!
I've a big problem. I try to load a UTF-8 file via process chain. I have a script which generate the correct name and the process chain will load the file daily. The file format is UTF-8. I've created a info package with the adapter OPEN_DS load text type file from application server and the character set is 4110 (Unicode UTF-8) but it doesn't work. I try it directly - not via routine - and it works perfect but I can't load with the adapter GUI-UPLOAD load text type file from local workstation via process chain.
I switched the code page back to 1100 sap internal ISO 8859-1 but with this settings I have a lot strange chars in my texts. Any solutions?

Process chains- different data loads at different points of time

hi friends
i want to load   master data at 4am
and then i want to load transaction data at 4:25 am
how can i   achieve this by using process chains
to load other datas also at different times      and where we   have to specify this different timings?

Create Processchain for your data & follow the belo steps -
In Processchain Double click on start button -
1) Select direct scheduling option
2) clcik maintain selections
3) give the date & time when you want to run the job.
4) according the time that you given in selections the job is going to start.

Process Chain error while loading CVC's into planning book

Hi I am trying to run the process chain and till half chain it was good and at one place after VMI Generate CVC's there is a box showing in RED and it is Load Infocube and when i checked it in batch processing it says end with errors and I could'nt find exactly what to do to run the entire process chain. Please anybody can tell me how can i resolve this issue.

Hi Senthil,
For Some of the SKUs it is giving the Error , some abrupt values are stored in Live Cache for these SKUs(CVC), thats why it giving the Error.
The only solution is ..i have to delete the CVCs and create new one...
But i will loose the data as we cant take the Backup of Old CVC data --> Giving COM Error
The reason of Abrupt Values in Live Cache Could Be -->.>
Macro/Alerts
How can we fix these types of Error , as regularly i am getting these Error??
Is there any Note/Patch to overcome this issue?

Difference between process chains and manual loading

Hi all,
I just posted a thread asking the difference between the manual loading and the process chains, but surprisingly Iam not able to see my thread.

Hi,
To see you thread change you settings. process chians allows you to auto mate your data loads, roll up process, compression, psa deletion etc. and you can maintain a sequence like load depending master data and loading transcation data.
by manual load you have to do all the thinngs manually, like executing an info pack, compressing the request, delete psa request etc, this things also you can schedule. but you dont know the dependencies.

Process Chain load step in yellow status

We are having a process chain with a load step.The load step is run with init with data transfer.
The load step is scheduled for the next time without changing the option to delta update.So the load step turned yellow with the background job log stating that delete the init Request ID.
The process chain is scheduled for several times but the load steps are all yellow.I initialized with data transfer and then to delta update.
All the requests in data targets are green.But all the load steps are in yellow.please let me know how to make it green.I tried to change the status of the load step to green manually using the function module rsps_process_finish,but the status is not changing.

From the Cube Manage > Environment > Automatic req processing > Chk Quality status to ok , chk this option if it is not done.
this should reslve the issue.

Process chains failing - There is no path from LOADING (ipak) to PSAPROCESS

In the load process type of my process chain I am loading till PSA.
I am using the process type - update from PSA for 3 ODSs and loading all of them to the cube. one of these three process types is finishing successfully. For rest of the two I get following errors:
1. There is no path from [IPAK name] to PSAPROCESS [variant name]
2. Variant doesnot contain a valid combination request/data target
For the two process types which are failing, the request is not being picked up from PSA. Can you please suggest what can be the reason and how to fix it?

How is it going on today , is there any change or same thing happened?.
I hope you have followed the below steps for re activation and schedule.
1. Go to process chain maintain view and in the menu option
Process Chain --> "Remove from schedule".
2.Process Chain --> "Activate" .
3.Process Chain --> "Activate and schedule" ( Note: Don't do this step If it is immediate start )
If the above steps does not work may be you can do one more thing , that is copy the whole process chain in to new one and create a new start event .
I had seen this type of errors and after activate and schedule it went fine.

BP daily load failed in process chain

Hi,
I am using process chains for daily loading of master data. I have an infopackage scheduled in that process chain named 0BP_DEF_ADDRESS_ATTR_INIT/DELTA_CRM01 (ZPAK_48WV8918R85SEUHG8N1IP6DJQ) . This infopackage is showing an error. When i diagnosed it says "Second attempt to write record '0030368557' to /BI0/PBPARTNER was successful"
And during error analysis i found this is causing the error.
Has anybody come across this error? How to correct this?

I deleted the request on Requests tab. However the request still runs on the reconstruction tab and when i manually try to do a delta load it says the last load is not finished yet.

BPM Process chain takes long time to process

We have BI7, Netweaver 2004s on Oracle and SUN Solaris
There is a process chain (BPM) which pulls data from the CRM system into BW. The scheduled time to run this chain is 0034 hrs. This chain should ideally complete before / around 0830 Hrs. <b>Now the problem is that every alternate day this chain behaves normally and gets completed well before 0830 hrs but every alternate day this chain fails</b> there are almost 40 chains running daily. Some are event triggered (dependent with each other) or some run in parallel. In this, (BPM) process chain, usually there are 5 requests with 3 Delta and 2 full uploads (Master Data). The delta uploads finishes in 30 minutes without any issues with very few record transfers. The first full upload is from 0034 hrs to approximately 0130 hrs and the 2nd upload is from 0130 hrs to 0230 hrs. Now if the 1st upload gets delayed then the people who are initiating these chains, stop the 2nd full upload and continue it after all the process chains are completed. Now this entire BPM process chain sometimes takes 17 -18 hrs to complete!!!!!
No other loads in CRM or BW when these process chains are running
CRM has background jobs to push IDOCS to BW which run every 2 minutes which runs successfully
Yesterday this chain got completed successfully (well within stipulated time) with over 33,00,000 records transferred but sometimes it has failed to transfer even 12,00,000 records!!

Within the zip file, attaching Normal timings of daily process chains.xls the name explains it.
Also within the zip file refer BPM Infoprovider and data source screen shot.doc please refer this file as the infopackage (page 2) which was used in the process chain is not displayed later on in page number 6 BUT CHAIN GOT SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED
We have analyzed:--
1)     The PSA data for BPM process chain for past few days
2)     The info providers for BPM process chain for past few days
3)     The ODS entries for BPM process chain for past few days
4)     The point of failure of BPM process chain for past few days
5)     The overall performance of all the process chains for past few days
6)     The number of requests in BW for this process chain
7)     The load on CRM system for past few days when this process chain ran on BW system
As per our analysis, there are couple of things which can be fixed in the BW system:--
1)     The partner agreement (transaction WE20) defined for the partner LS/BP3CLNT475 mentions both message types RSSEND and RSINFO: -- collect IDOCs and pack size = 1 Since the pack size = 1 will generate 1 TRFC call per IDOC, it should be changed to 10 so that less number of TRFCs will be generated thus less overhead for the BW server resulting in the increase in performance
2)     In the definition of destination for the concerned RFC in BW (SM59), the Technical Setting tab says the Load balancing option = No. We are planning to make it Yes
But we believe that though these changes will bring some increase in performance, this is not the root cause of the abnormal behavior of this chain as this chain runs successfully on every alternate day with approximately the same amount of load in it.
I was not able to attach the many screen shots or the info which I had gathered during my analysis. Please advice how do I attach these files

Normally index creation or deletion can take long time in case your database statistics are not updated properly, so can check stat after your data loading is completed and index generation is done, Do creation of database statistics.
Then try to recheck ...

Problem with triggering process chain

Hi
We have a remote process chain that calls a process chain in another system.The process chain in the other system is not getting triggered with the remote chain.
We have 3 such remote chains and we are facing such a problem with only one of them.
The process chain in the other system has a start variant which gets triggered( i suppose) and gives an instance id...the next step in the process chain is to load data into a ODS.Now this step remains yellow forever.When i manually try to schedule this step it gives me records and the request in the monitor screen turns green.But the process chain step continues to remain yellow.
What can be a way out for triggering the process chain or where could the problem be?

Hi Suchitra,
Even though ur process seems to be in yellow your data loading may be completed and the reason for it may be the delay in activation of ODs by ur PC.
For your information please go through the below infm provided in SAp Library
Note when loading into an ODS object and for the subsequent, event-controlled update:
If you switched on the automatic activation in the ODS maintenance or administration, the monitor status for the request remains yellow after the load was successfully completed. Nevertheless, the subsequent processing for the InfoPackage is started, because the loading process is successfully completed.

Questions on process chains

Hai all,
I have two questions on Process chains.
1. I created a process chain for master data and a process chain for data loads(with ODS and cube). As the Master data has to be loaded first before loading transaction data, can I include the Master data process chain as a local process chain soon after the start process and then only after loading master data, the system proceeds to transaction data?
2. I designed a process chain with the aggreagtion and compression of cube data. I have forgot to check the option delete overlapping requests in the infopackage to load the infocube. I ran the process chain and now there are 2 requests and the duplicate documents. I want to delete the recent request and check the deleting duplicate requests option in info package and re run. The problem is the system is not allowing me to delete the recent request.

Thanks for the reply. I am sceduling the request for deletion in the Manage infocube> but the request is not getting deleted. Everytime I click refresh, the delete icon disappears and the screen becomes as it was before scheduing the deletion. I checked after sometime, even then the same thing...
I wonder the collpased requests can not be deleted???
