Process chain enhancement

hi experts,
A process chain has been executed with fallowing data targets
ods1--->ods2 & ods3--->infocube it could be succeed for 1st load.
when i want to go for 2nd load with an enhancement for adding a new key figure in ods1,
when it comes to cube further update of ods2 & ods3 shows error in process chain.
when i come to cube the additional key figure in RED in update rules.
Is it possible to add any new key figure in cube which already is scheduled process chain
if it is possible pl give me the procedure.

The newly added keyfigures only exists in ODS1 ?
Is it not reqd in futher data targets?
Update Rules should be active with no errors...why it is Red ..Assign a Source Keyfigure - Activate URules.
Added a keyfigure will not impact process unless you have everything active.
Btn is history data populated for the Keyfigure or any delta will do ?

If i get it well, you have installed BW in your PC, and you want to find out :
1)Can I Executed Process Chain in Personal PC ?
If the installation was ok, you wont have any issue in the execution of Process Chain.
2)Can i do a inhacemente in Personal PC ?

What was the Short Dump?
I thing that you have had some issue during the instalation,and you skip it.

as per my requirement i created infopackage and dtp in development system. and i enhanced these objects into process chains also. now i want to send this infopackage ,dtp and enhanced process chains(at the process chain level i want to add only this infopackage and dtp).i dont want to collect total chain.please guide me.

Hi,
The Process Chain definition will be collected with the Infopackage & DTP automatically when you make the change (It will prompt for a Transport Request).
But the other Process Variants which is used in the Process Chain will not come, but if you need them then u need to collect it using Transport Connection.
PS. Make sure the Start Variant is set to "Start using Meta-Chain" so that the chain is not scheduled automatically after Transport.

Info Package in Process Chain taking long time

Dear All,
Info Package in Process Chain having 0 records is taking 1 hr 5 mins to complete. Time out time is set to 10 mins.
Does any one of you know the reason why it is happening like this?

Infopackage in process chain taking long time to run

HI Experts,
One of the element (Infopackage) in process chain(Daily process chain) is taking much longer time(6 hr and still runing) as generally it takes 15-20 mins to complete and the status is in yellow and still running in process monitor without giving any clear picture of error. Manually we are making the staus red and we are updating from PSA and this time it is getting completed in time as specified.
Flow from PSA to datatarget(DSO) in series
For last one week we are facing same issue and i would like to mention that we don't have access to SM37,SM12 to look the logs
and any locks.
without this i need to investigate what is the root cause for the same.

Error in executing Process chain

ERROR 572 *** CAN'T GET MSG FROM CATALOG: Cannot start Process Chain

Process InfoPackage based on a condition in Process Chain

I would like to include a Function Module in my Process Chain.Based on the output of the Function Module (example Flag - 'A','B','C') I would like to load data from Infopackage.

then you need a decision step...
as you want to use a FM to get the outcome, you can't use the standard decision step as you can only use a formula...
so you need to implement a new decision step...look on sdn for the how to paper 'Enhanced Decision Process Type for BW Process Chains'...
this how to paper will lead you to create a process step of the type decision but you can use abap forms (take a look at it and it will become clear)...once you have done this, drag/drop the step in your chain. within the variant, you can define the result of the if, elseif, else...you can add as much elseif as you want (a lot in any case)...you need to create for every 'if' the form using the FM... back in the process chain you can link this step to all the infopackages, and indicate the result of the decision step leading to the infopackage execution...
that's the nice way...
the easy way :
create for every infopackage a single process chain (you can easily copy them)...they should start after event EV_A, EV_B, and so on...every chain after another event...now create an abap program and call the function module...now depending on the outcome of your FM you can trigger one of the events and the corresponding chain will start, leading to the correct infopackage being loaded.

Parallel process Chain

There is an InfoObject ZCUSMAS with master data and a process chain is running on this InfoObject to load master data.
This Object was enhanced by adding 2 attributes(already contains data).
Attribute change run was performed to activate the master data of ZCUSMAS
Now the loading of these 2 attributes must also be included into the same process chain of ZCUSMAS.
How can this be done?
Should these loading of attributes be done parallely i.e. adding two more process of executing Info Package from Start Process.
(The data flow is in 3.x)

I have a InfoObject A, which has master data already.
It was enhanced with B and C attributes.
My requirement is to load these parallely along with A .
Is this the flow
Start -> Infopackage A
         -> Infopackage B
         -> Infopackage C
or
Start -> Infopackage B ->
         -> Infopackage C -> And Process -> Infopackage A
Since the Process chain is already running, should it be stopped and after adding processes should it be started.

Infopackage loads 0 record in process chain as BG job not running correctly

Hi Experts,
I have scheduled a daily process chain for Purchasing.
The infopackage in the process chain loads 0 records from R/3 and shows green status but data is available in R/3. Its a FULL update.
But when I load the data manually the infopackage fetchs the record form R/3.
When I checked the background job in R/3 that loaded 0 records, the job gets finished abruptly without fetchig any data.
Please find the job log below:

Hi Prasanth,
If the background jobs are not availbale when IP is triggered then the BG job will ot be executed and the IDOCs will get struck.
Once we push the IDOc only the BG job will be executed until then the PC will wait with yellow status.
Hence this is not the issue with the non availability of BG WP.
Also for last one week this issue was happening but today the job executed successfully through the Process chain itself.
Then it shows this is not the issue with PC also.
The job is executed using RFCUSR.
Please suggest what would be the possible cause for this issue.

Process chain too slow in source system .

Major difference between BW3.5 and BI 7.0 versions
1. In Info sets now you can include Infocubes as well.
2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
3. The BI accelerator (for now only for Infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accelerator is a separate box and would cost more.
4. The monitoring has been improved with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal.
5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
6. Transformations are in and routines are passé! Yes, you can always revert to the old Tcodes.
7. The *Data Warehousing Workbench *replaces the Administrator Workbench.
8. Functional enhancements have been made for the Data Store object:
New type of Data Store object, Enhanced settings for performance optimization of Data Store objects.
9. The transformation replaces the transfer and update rules.
10. New authorization objects have been added
11.*Remodeling *of Info Providers supports you in Information Lifecycle Management.

or tcode rspc is for process chains
1.select new from there
2. enter the variant of the process chain
(for start process i.e first one it is immediate always)
3. from lfet hand side of ur processes select the process u want to do,after the start process for eg: load info package.
(give the name of ip and give the variant i.e at wat time u wannt to execute it).
4.likewise drag and drop the processes u wanted to link, one after the other.
5 activate the pc and then schedule it

How to load delta to 2 target ODS 's from a single ODS using process chains

Hi BW Gurus
I am having a current ODS based on 2LIS_02_SCL, deltas also are working fine for it.
our requirement was based to have 2 target ODS on this existing ODS by using export generate datasource.
I have to build a process chain that should enable us to load delta in our target ODS.
Earlier manually for DEV purposes ,i was using the Update data into data targets from the source ODS, this was enabling us to load deltas. But to automate this process we will require a process chain.
Finally , is there any process type in process chain for " Export generate Datasource".
please suggest a good methodology for this scenario.

Hi Ashfaq,
Loading from ODS to CUBE is same as loading from datasource to ODS only.
1. Create export datasource.
2. Create update rules from ODS(export datasouce) to CUBE.
3. Create infopackages(if you dont want to use generated once).
4. include infopackage in process chain to load fromODS to CUBE.
Intialize first manually and change settings in process chain infopackage to "Delta".
5. You can append/enhance existing process chain(loading from datasource to ODS).

Hi Experts,
We are running APO DP process chain with parallel processing in our company, we are experiencing some issues regarding run time of process chain, need your help on below points;
- What are the ways we can optimize process chain run time.
- Special points we need to take care of in case of parallel processing profiles used in process chain.
- Any specific sequence to be followed for different processes in process chain - if there is some best practice followed.
- Any notes suggesting ways to improve system performance for APO version 7 with different enhancement packs 1 and 2.

HI Neelesh,
There are many ways to optimize performance of the process chains (background jobs) in APO system.
Firstly I would recommend you to identify the pain areas (steps) which are completing with more runtimes. Then each one of the step has got different approaches to decrease the runtime.
Like you may end up with steps like infopackage executions, DTPs, DP mass processing jobs etc which might be running with more runtimes. So now target each one of them differently and find out the ways to optimize. At the same time the approach you follow should be technically possible with basis perspective (system load and utilization) as well.
And coming to parallel processing, you can use parallel processing for different for different jobs. You can further r explore on the same using parallel processing. Like loading an infocube, mass processing, infopackage execution, DTP, TSCOPY etc.

If we deleted the DTP in the process chain first, then reimport the transformation, the transport will be succesful. But that is not really the solution, isn't it? What is here the phenomenon? Do we need some setting else or is there any SAP notes for this?

Hi,
sorry that I may not be clear in my explaination. The Scenario is below:
- we create a transformation in C
- transport it to Q and create there DTP and process chain. It works well for a long time.
- then change something in transformation in C due to an enhancement
- try to transport transformation to Q, but it failed. Transformation inactive. DTP inactive.
- try again by deletion DTP in PC (in Q)
- reimport transformation again --> that works. Transformation transported and active in Q. But DTP lost and we have to re-create it in PC.
Question: is there any method to avoid the step of DTP-deletion ? Thank you!

Creation of process chains in 2004s

Dear friends
Does anybody as a step by step guide on how to create a process chain in 2004s . as this is new i am bit confused on creating them . we are useing standard business content. but while creating the process chains they are bit different and i am unable to create process chians . so can one help on this by sending some example screen shot of the process chain created and steps how to create process chain for standard business content in 2004s . if possible please send it to (email address removed by moderator) or mention steps how to or atleast example screenshot . please look forward toyour replies . thankyou friends .
