Process chain Has ran two times

I have some problem with my process chain,It is running through Based on Event,some time that process chain running two time,I dont know why its happens,Please any one can give me solution.

For the Option display schedule job option...u hav to open the chain in Planning view..........Open the chain through the tcode RSPC1.........then automatically it will open in Planning view...
You hav said that this Process chain is event based.....from where this event comes...........is that event triggers from another process chain.......or it is time based event.........
I think I got it...............that day u hav triggerred the event manually.........after that the chain triggerred and the event collector got reset..........then again when actually the event triggerred ........it again triggerred the chain........u hav already told that there was problem in system performance........so may be that event got trigger late...........again as usual next day also that event got trigger.......and again ur chain ran..........due to this ur chain ran twice that day................
Just check whether the event is part of any event collector or not.........to check this copy the event..........go to SE16 >> RSEVENTHEAD..........there in the Event field give the event .........then execute............u will get the event collector name............if u r unable to find in this table..........search in the table RSEVENTCHAIN..........the copy the event collector.........then go to RSA1OLD(if u r in BI7.0.......otherwise RSA1).........click on the Tools button in the top.........check the event collector...................
If u r unable to find in both the chains..........that means it is a single event..............then go to SM37........select the event from the or after event: field...........in the job field put BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER.......then check for this event how many times this trigger chain run on that day and the next day..........Then u wll understand.........

ABAP process job ( BI_PROCESS_ABAP ) in process chain running for long time

Dear Experts,
We have an ABAP process job BI_PROCESS_ABAP in a process chain. This job is running for a very long time than previous run time.
Recently we had an ORACLE database upgrade from 9.2 to 10g.
From the very next day , we are having this problem.
And also previously this process-chain was under control of BASIS guys . they were using a tool called CRONACLE to schedule it. At the time of upgrade this tool was crashed and they asked us to schedule it in BW system instead.
Underlying program is using two custom tables.
one is having both primary & secondary indexes but the other table is having only primary index.
I am not sure whether we have secondary indexes on other table prior to upgrade or not.
Where must be the problem?...
At the time of upgrade BASIS has re-organized the table space along with database upgrade.
please help me...

Please ask yr basis consultant to check the system parms.
Below i have listed down SAP recommneded system parms .
abap/heap_area_total 4000000000
abap/heap_area_dia 2000000000
abap/heap_area_nondia 2000000000
Also check in SM37 if any other jobs are running for long time, peventing the your job running.
Check the SM12 for locks or SM58

A process chain is a defined sequence of interdependent processes required to perform acomplex task in an SAPBW environment. Data maintenance tasks in SAPBW are notrestricted to uploading data. Aggregate rollups, index maintenance, master data and ODS activation, and a variety of other jobs are required to update data, guarantee best-possible performance, and maintain data integrity. Single Process chain triggers with two different users

Hello all,
I have process chain which is triggering two times with R/3 user at 7 PM and same process chain with 9 PM by BW user. but in rspc i have given only with BW user.
how second R/3 Chain is triggering?
R/3 to PSA Full load daily. BI System.

Are you using an event to trigger this process chain?
If yes then check in R/3, whether you are triggering that event in R/3.

Loading from PSA with different process chains at a different time

Hi,
We currently have an issue regarding loading the same data from 2 separate Process Chains from the same datasource at a different time.
Simplified what is happening :
Process Chain 1:
Step 1a = Load 2LIS_13_VDITM into ODS "A"
Step 1b = Load 0FI_GL_4 into ODS "B"
At a later time, (PC1 is ready) =>
Process Chain 2:
Step 1 = Load ODS "A" to ODS "C"
Step 2 = Load 0FI_GL_4 (from PSA) to ODS "C"
Because of dependencies, step 2 from PC2 has to be loaded AFTER Step 1 (with activation) from PC2.
We cannot change Process Chain 1.
What i want to do is load the data from 0FI_GL_4 only to PSA in Process Chain 1 and pick it up again in Process Chain 2. This functionality is available in NW2004S, but not in our version BW 3.0B.
Does anyone have an idea how to do this ?

Thank you for your quick answer.
The problem is i cannot change PC1, but 0FI_GL_4 is loaded with the option into PSA and then immediatly to the target. So data is available in the PSA.
When I try to load data from PSA into ODS "C" in PC2, i get an error saying that the belonging infopackage (from PC1) is not available in this PC and thus cannot be loaded from PSA.

Process chain error : Difference in time

Hello All,
Am trying to execute a metachain that loads attributes, texts, hierarchies and then transactional data.But just after the start variant, am getting a runtime error i.e. ABAP/4 Processor: ZDATE_LARGE_TIME_DIFF.
Am not sure of what this ZDATE_LARGE_TIME_DIFF is, but would like to know how can i get rid of this.
The details show "Large time difference between application server and database.
How do I tackel this? Kindly reply.

Seems that timezone has been changed on the Server at Os/DB/BW server level...

Process Chain changing start time?

hi guysm i have 76 process chains that run every day in BWD system, so i removed all the timings from the start variant and in the infopackages, but it seems some process chains are still running, i did do the following steps on chnaging the time from a particular time to immediate, Save, Check and activate, i didnt schedule it as i dont want it to load right away .
do i have to hit check , save , schedule once i change the time from a particular time to immediate load or activate will work as well.?
what else could be the cause of process chains still loading even there are no events, or time given to any process chains at all.
i went to sm 37 and i can see the bi process are all running at the time they were orignially set up on.
so any suggestions would help,
is there any way from sm 37 i can tell which process chain is triggered off?

Dante, the start conditions on the infopackages do not affect when they run in process chains. The process chains have their own start job. If you want to change the start time of a process chain, then you need to go to maintain the process chain, right-click on the Start process and select Displaying Scheduled Job(s)... . Here you will see a job called BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER. Change the start conditions of this job.
The start job for all process chains is BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER, so using SM37 may be difficult to identify which BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER job is associated to a particular chain.
Also, to let you know, each process in a process chain has an associated job. All jobs called BI_PROCESS_xxxxx are jobs associated with a process chain.
Eg.
BI_PROCESS_LOADING is an infopackage.
BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER is the start job

Process chain taking long time to complete

Hi,
I am having following issues in the process chain daily loads
1) The PSA deletion is taking very long time on fridays only (nearly 3 hrs). Other days it gets deleted in 1 hr max.
2) Just to load 381 records via dtp from DSO to cube takes nearly 2 hrs(Delta load). No major routines are written in the transformation.
How to analyse a process in process chain which does not fail, but takes very long time to complete. Is there any tool or transaction in BW which can help us to analyse why the process chain takes so long time to complete in different days. One day it completes in 8 hrs, another day it takes 12 hrs.
None of the transactions, SM37, SM50, SLG1, LOGS etc are giving me any help to analyse this issue.
If it fails we have error logs to check and analyse, but without failing how we can analyse and fix the delay and reduce the time of loading data. Please guide me.

1) This might be due to the poor performance of the system ..there wont be enoughwork processes avilabe in teh system .- What needs to be done if it does not have enough work processes available. Though I can find that lots of dialog processes were free during these jobs as well some Background processes were also free.?
Look to increase Work Process.......................u can do two things..............U can cancel some Job...........which r not progressing...........or which r not very important for the time being..........
Or if possible........u can increase number of servers..........
Look When a Job will start...............first it will run in background.............u can start in in Dialog also..........but for Dialogue after some time ..load will go to time out.................now many Child jobs will be created for a single background jobs..............they may run in Dialogue..........u can monitor them through SM66............
2) Check ST04 for lock waits and dead locks ..if the same lock persist for long then check with basis team.
What needs to be conveyed to the basis team when these locks happen?
generally these will be temporary Locks.............after some time locks will be realeased..............if they persist for a long time...........then u can contact Basis people..........Or if u can understand that which job is creating the lock.............like if u double click on the job >> click on Job details...............from there u will find the PID................copy that.............and check in ST04..........whether they matches or not..............now suppose it match.............and u know that job is not very important............then u can cancel the job.............
Check also the table space availba in St04 . the usuage should nt be more than 90%
What needs to be conveyed to the basis team if the usage is more than 90%.?
U can ask them to increase the Table space........
Check the sm37 >> delay column it should nt be high
What needs to be done if delay column is high. Actually it is high for these jobs (PSA deletion and load from DSO to Cube visa DTP (Delta load)?
If Delay is more.............it means ...........that there is no free work process...jobs r going to Release state............solution I had already given u.......
Check the PID refeclting in lock waits in sm66 wether they are progressing or nt ..
If they are not progressing what action needs to be taken?
Actually...........suppose one Dialogue job is running............it may change..........ie that Dialogue job will go to Stop status.........some other job will start............anyways if it does'nt progress............u can cacel the JOb.........
Check OS07 for DB if the idle time is less then 20% then its a problem ..
If the Idle time is less than 20% what action needs to be taken?
U can contact the Basis people.......
Check sm21 and RFC connection with other source systems in sm59 ..
What needs to be checked in SM21 and SM59 specifically? What parameter i need to check?
In SM21.............if red status is there............check the Log beside that..............may be it will be some Terminal disconnected.......
In SM59...........clck on test connection..........
if the problem is occuring due to only one source system then check the performance of that system ..
How to check the performance of these systems? Any tools available in R/3 system to check its performance?
No.....in this way u can check performance for all the source system...........go to SM59............double click on the desired source system>> click on test connection......
If All these are persisting then its a performance problem and check with basis team ..
Is there any special settings which needs to be maintained to achieve better performance of Process chain loads?
U can Improve the performance of process chain by Parallel Processing..........ie split the loads by giving selections...........and execute thenm in parallel..........

thanks for your quick reply but i would like to incorporate the finish time in the mail subject.
for example mail subject is as follows.
"GL process chain has been finished at xx:xx time".
Here time (xx:xx) should automatically read and fill as per the finish time of the process chain.
hope now it is clear.any idea how it can be done?.

Master data Process chain running long time

Dear SDN Team,
PC Process Chain: General Master Data - time running is about 4.5 hours . how we can improve running time.
There are 15-25 info objects are loading from this process chain.

Hi,
Go to the function module RSD_IOBJ_GET to find the object name of the dimension. Go to SE37 & proceed as follows.
I_IOBJNM = 'Info Object Name'
I_OBJVERS = 'A'
I_BYPASS_BUFFER = 'X'
and then Execute the FM.
Double click on the "'E_S_VIOBJ'" and find the number in the field 'u201ENUMBRANR‟'
and add BIM to the number taken from NUMBRANR.
Goto SNRO T-Code and enter BIM+the number and edit.
From Edit--> Set up Buffering --> Main memory, select the buffering check box and enter approx 500.
This needs to be done for all the master and your dataload performance would improve.

Process LOADING has no predecessor in Process chain

Hi Experts,
I have copied Process chain with all process and I have included new steps in process chain like change log deletion and delete & create index(the process chain has data mart functionality which mean that, first it load to DSO and then from DSO it load to Cube) so after Start variant I have included Change log deletion Step and then after Activation of DSO I have included delete Index step and then after IP load to Cube I have included Create Index step therefore which is the PC in the form of
1) Start Process
2) Change log deletion
3) Load IP (Target to only PSA)
4) Read PSA and Update to data target (DSO)
5) Activate the DSO
6) Delete Index
7) Load IP (Data mart from DSO to Cube)
8) Create Index
9) Delete request from PSA.
all process are connected but when I activated I was getting error message that Process LOADING has no predecessor
so pls advise me what went wrong or what should I do.
Note
1) load type is full load and I was in BI.7
2) there is no DTP engaged

Hi
during creation of modification of chain you must have deleted few links to Loading step.
Go to settings-> Default chains and see if autosuggest is on, if it is on this might have cause this.
To Resolve this problem go to edit mode of chain and then go to View->Detail view on
now you will be able to see unlinked loading step.
Delete unlinked and un necessary steps from here and reactivate chain.

Some times if a process chain takes to much time to finish than expected, how I can stop the process chain and execute it again.

If the job is running for a long time ,
1)GOTO RSMO and SM37 and check the long running job over there.
2)There you can see the status of the job.
3)If the job is still running you can kill that job
4)delete the failed request from data target.

How to create process chain with dso and infocube at a time

hi friends,
i have a FLATFILE in application server and i need to upload it to STANDARD DSO and i created a INFO PACKAGE and DTP for DSO.
i have a STANDARD INFOCUBE to upload data from above DSO. here DSO is the source. i want to schedule this process in process chain. how could i do this. any one please give me solution.
can any one explain me the options in RSPC and how they work and where we exactly use. this is very helpful to me. please give me guidance. thank you.

First make sure you have already created the infopackage to load the data from server to the DSO and the DTP to load data from DSO to the Cube.
Now goto Tcode RSPC.
Choose Create process Chain option. provide appropriate technical name and description.
Drag "Execute infopackage" process type from left hand side pane in RSPC. Choose the infopackage to load the data from Server to DSO. you can find this infopackage using the F4 help in the above selected process type.
Drag the "data transfer process" process type to load data from the Flat file data source above to the DSO.
Then Drag the "Activate DataStore Request" process type and select the DSO in which you would load the data using the above DTP.
Drag the "data transfer process" process type to load data from DSO to the Cube.
Save, activate and schedule the process chain according to appropriate time.

Process chains are not running in a given time.

Hi BI Experts, Good afternoon.
Daily we are running the process chains in the night time. And the first process chain starts at 22:30(master data loading).
But from 5 days onwards, our process chains are running in the morning time around 10AM.
We informed to our BASIS team but they could not do anything.
What may be the problem.
Can anyone tell me the solution?

May be your chain was in the wait at the scheduled time, as there were no adequate processes available at the app server to take up your job.
Check with your Basis ( and also your users ); about the optimal time to schedule the job and reschedule your jobs.

Long running process chains - No Dump / error message.

Hello,
We have defined some steps in process chain that contains default macros. We mainly included that to ensure calculations happens even when users dont open or access the DP Planning book.
Issue is, these steps are running endless. normally it takes some 400 n odd seconds. But its running for the last 60000 secs.
No. of Planning objects or CVC is 2027 only. I had to cancel them and tried to re run this step or the whole chain no luck....
I have checked active jobs in SM37, there is none. So ideally there is no load on the system. Also no change to Macro or CVC's has been done. there was only one Transport that was moved and it was on the product master.
Also I have done the time series, Live cache, PA Consistency checks. only in Live Cache there was some Superflous time series and it was corrected.
I am not getting a clue of why its happening nor where to start the analsysis.
Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
Currently I have made the subsequent events as independent,& the chain is running execpting this step.

These are custom macros. It adds two KF and copies to another.
The no. of periods is 24 time periods and roughly no. of CVC is 2100.
Another thing, this process chain has been running for last 5 to 6 months with no issues. Since sunday, its messing up....
I am doubting if its taking time read data from table or live cache. or is it because of some indexing. Not sure how to check that.
have asked Basis to check the system performance, if it might cause this issue.
