Process chain is inactive

Hi Gurus,
I transported process chain successfully to QBW, but I found some of the process chains are inactive and it does not show up in the node. Please advice how to resolve this issue.
Thanks
Liza

Hi Liza,
You may not activated properly the process chains in develoment and transportd them to production. You can also activate these chains directly in production system, but it is recommended to actiavte these list of process chains in development system and save into transport request and now transport to development.
I hope it helps u..

Ramki.

    Hi BWers,
We are having problems with our process chain wherein one of the local process chain becomes inactive. Here's the job log of the BI_PROCESS_CHAIN job. Will give points even for those who can give hints, better if solved.

    Thank You in advance!

    Hi
you have pasted the process chain log, as the process was terminated, i required the dump information from the st22 and system messages from the sm21 concerned messages.
Please provide the above infomation to resolve your problem.

  • Removing the "target server" from process chain jobs

    Dear SAP Community,
Please note we are on BW version 3.5
We have a very large number of process chains that are used to load data in the production environment. Many of those process chains have a "target server" specified, so that the jobs will run only on the central instance.
A new application server has just been added to the environment, and we want to remove the "target server" definition so that the dispatcher will be free to load balance the process chain jobs.
We can see the attributes for each process chain are stored in a table called RSPCCHAINATTR.
Please let me know: can we update the value of field SERVER in table RSPCCHAINATTR, to set it to blank using SQL-PLUS ?
And then can we run a /$sync to bring these changes up into the application layer ?
This would save tons of time & manual effort, and it would set the target server to blank for all of the process chains at once, instead of clicking manually so many times to clear the value for each process chain.
Please let me know if we can take this approach ? Is there any chance of the process chains becoming inactive by doing this ?
We want to set the "target server" = blank in all cases, instead of manually clicking into each and every process chain.
    Please let me know, thanks.

Check tcode RSBATCH, If I'm not wrong all process types are assigned to central server. Remove that server name and save.
Now, If u execute process chain, system will prompt you assign server/host name. To skip this follow the below.
Again use RSBATCH, under 'Background and Parallel Processes' tab, click 'Switch Off F4 Popup for Server/Host/Group', enter * (star) under Users for 'Users for Whom NO Server/Host/Group Popup Should be Processed'.
Now, If u execute process chain, it should run on either of servers.
Since u added Appln Server, best bet would be creating a server group. See the below link.

  • Warnings while transporting a process chain

    Dear all,
I am getting the below warning message when I am transporting my process chain into Quality. Due to this, the PC is now in inactive version in the target system.
The logs shows the below message
No destination maintained in target client 001 -> Not activated
    Message no. RSPC085
    Diagnosis
When activating a process chain, this is checked and scheduled. Both the checking of a process chain and its scheduling require that
    1. the function is executed in the target client of the import and
    2. the user executing the function has the appropriate authorizations.
This is usually the case for the BW background user
The function can be executed in the target client if an RFC logon occurs in the target client. An RFC destination must be predefined for this purpose. This destination is used for logon to the target client from client 000 during import postprocessing.
This destination does not exist in this system.
    System Response
The process chain will not be activated, which means that it will not be checked, scheduled, or saved in an active version. The process chain will only be adjusted to the local situation (for example, key changes with objects that are dependent on the source system), and will not be saved in a modified version.
    Procedure
Create a destination for the import postprocessing.
Can some one please help on this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Srinivas

    Thanks..
Yes, this is the first process chain we are transporting.
I tried maintaining the paramters in RSTPRFC with the below settings..
    Client: BW client 001
    Destination: TPBWMANDTRFC
    User: ALEREMOTE
    PWD: ************
I want to know whether the details of teh destination are correct. If so, are these settings need to be maintained in QA and Prod systems as well?
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Problem in process chain after upgrade

    Hi,
We recently upgraded our sysetm to BI7.0 version. When I tried to run a process chain,it failed at the data load step.I tried to see  the  message but it is throwing an error like "object not persistent".so can somebody let me know what is the error here...
    Thanks
    Karthick

    Hi Karthik
I assume variant(EXOR) has been used in another process chain which is inactive status, if we create Process Chain 'A' with variant (EXOR) and create another Process chain 'B 'with same variant(EXOR) and inactive status, PC 'A' doesn't execute though its in active status, it will work only when both process chains were in active status, please find in which process chain this variant has been used, remove/activate variant(EXOR) and execute your primary process chain, hope this will resolve your issue, please let me know if this doesn't resolve your issue

  • Process chain is not visible in Quality after TR transport

    Hi,
I have transported process chain to Qua, but its not visible, only the technical id of process chain is displayed in RSPC tcode. I've tried activating through RSPC_CHAIN_ACTIVE_REMOTE, but still, its not visible in rspc tcode.

Thru not assigned nodes you have issue.
All objects are at prod not in place or not inactive.
So first transport your data flow objects(one by one as suggested at another thread) one by one again to prod and make them proper activation.
at final you can transport your process chain into prod and check it.
With out info pack/dtps at prd, connected process chain how will display the chain.
One the data flow you have issue, please try understand the issue and re transport whole data flow.

  • Send Message Process prompting for "Process Chain to Check"

Hi, When I insert a "Send Message" Process into my chain I do get prompted to select the message.
    1. When I do a pull down I am getting prompted for "Process Chain to Check".
If I select my current process chain I get an abend.
    2. When I click create instead of select I get brought to a table maint "Controls the execution of Process Chains".  It has process chain, Start Date, Start time, and an inactive checkbox.
Any guesses why it's asking for "Process Chain to Check"?
What is this maintenence table I'm being brought to just to create a message.
Sounds Like I've run into a bug?????
    Can you help???

Found out this must be related to development from a previous consultant..

  • Error transport, when the DTP is implemented in Process chain

    Dear all,
we are facing with a problem: when a DTP is already implemented in a process chain, the tranport of that depending transformation will get an error (return code 8) with message like this:
"Start of the after-import method RS_TRFN_AFTER_IMPORT for object type(s) TRFN (Aktivierungs
Transformation 04QJHDX7E941CZLCQDNNO6FQX06GB61B deleted in version M of DDIC
    Action canceled
The user terminated processing of objects
    Impact analysis of Transformation 04QJHDX7E941CZLCQDNNO6FQX06GB61B
The user terminated processing of objects
    Error when activating Transformation 04QJHDX7E941CZLCQDNNO6FQX06GB61B
Dependent object DTPA DTP_049H3XG5UDOXUJ5RG44W3JN30 set to inactive
If we deleted the DTP in the process chain first, then reimport the transformation, the transport will be succesful. But that is not really the solution, isn't it? What is here the phenomenon? Do we need some setting else or is there any SAP notes for this?
    Thanks a lot for advise!
    Van Anh Nguyen

    Hi,
sorry that I may not be clear in my explaination. The Scenario is below:
    - we create a transformation in C
    - transport it to Q and create there DTP and process chain. It works well for a long time.
    - then change something in transformation in C due to an enhancement
    - try to transport transformation to Q, but it failed. Transformation inactive. DTP inactive.
    - try again by deletion DTP in PC (in Q)
    - reimport transformation again --> that works. Transformation transported and active in Q. But DTP lost and we have to re-create it in PC.
Question: is there any method to avoid the step of DTP-deletion ? Thank you!

  • Issue in process chain with DTP after imported to production

    Hi,
we have a issue with process chain.
after transportation DTP technical name is differ in prod and dev. process chain is went inactive.
i have read some related threads, i'm not find any suitable solution for this.
we don't have access to change process chain(they are not willing to open prod system)
could you please provide solution on this issue .
    Thanks,
    EDK....
    Edited by: EdK666 on Oct 21, 2011 2:54 PM

    Hi,
I have observed the behavior of changing technical name for DTP but still I think your process chain should not become inactive due to this.  I think process chain somehow adjust the new technical name but anyways you should be able to change the DTP in process chain directly in production system.
If that is not possible you can just try re-transporting it.

  • Debug loop seconds in process chain

    hi
we have an issue. our DTP process has failed in our process chain and the reason was that the transformations were inactive. So we have activated the transformations and have executed the DTP manually. Now when i go to log view of my process chain and  enter REPAIR  on our DTP Process it is asking for DEBUG LOOP ____ Seconds.
    what does debug loop mean...
IS it the right way to restart our process chain by enterIng  REPAIR DTP after the manula dtp load we have done by activation transformations
Can anyone suggest me what should the debug loop  --- value I  SHOULD GIVE

    Hi Krishna,
As mentioned Debug Loop is use to debug a Process Chain....You have to Enter a wait time greater than 0 seconds. And then, activate the Process Chain....
Then Go to the menu option: Execution -> Execute Synchronous to Debugging........The debug screen will now pop-up.....
But in your case, I don't think it is required....Since you have alreday executed the DTP manually....
Now you just need to continue the rest of the chain....
To do this.....open the chain in the Design View ............In the top where we write the TCODE, there wrire "COPY"..........Enter.....
It will copy the original process Chain..........Give a technical name of the copied chain............
Remove all the Processes till that DTP........Including the Start process......
Create a new Start Process......connect it to the next step.......activate the chain and execute it..........then rest of the chains will get executed fine.......
I don't think that you will face the same issue in the next run of the Process Chain........
You can also use the FM : RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH......to continue the chain instead of copying...
For this you can check the Bog :
    Restarting Processchains
    Do as you wish....

  • Process Chains Excution

Is it mandatory to acativate & replicate the data sources in BW system before running process chains.
Suppose i am creation nay customer no or any relevant data in ECC & wants it to be in BW system.so is this required??

    HI,
If the datasource is already in active form its not needed to activate the datasources. But when ever yu add or modify any object or field in the datasource , then u have to activate the datasource once again coz when u are modifying it will turned to modify version.
with respect to process chains, when ever yu load the data or push some data to BI, if the datasource or any objects related to the dataflow were inactive, then the data load will not happen and u will get so respected error.
Regarding yur doubt on replication of datasources, this replication must be done before that dataloading process. so it is must to replicate and activate the datasource before initializing the dataload. At the same time process chains which are associated with this dataflow will be scheduled at the mention timings.
    Regards,
    Jack

  • Process chains Activation

    Hi,
I have transported few Process Chains(PC) from DEV -> PROD system.
I am not able to activate the same. All the PCs are in 'Not assigned' Node and are grey.
These PC were running normal in DEV.

    Hi,
In general, PC will in inactive status ,eventhough transports are successfully imported.
you can try to activate manually.
Ur second question is ur not ablr to activate the PC?
In production becasue of security resons cross clint will be closed, we can not activate the PC if the cross clint is closed.
Check with the basis team to open cross clint and try to activate.
This just for your info...cross clint will be open via SCC4 transaction...this is secure transaction, use care fully.
Hope this helps you...Let us know if u requre any further info on this.
    Best Regards,
    Maruthi

  • Transporting Process Chains

I have not transported process chains before so wanted to check:
When transporting process chains do they by default come across inactive and you need to activate them on the receiving system, or are they supposed to be transported in the active state.  I would expect the latter but just needed a confirmation

    Hi Niten,
process Chains will be transported and needs to be activated and Schedules in the target system, i face the same probelm when transportes from DEV to QTY System.
even for meta Chains you have to trigger events and schedule the meta chains to be triggered by main chain for else mata chains will not be triggered.
    hope this helps

  • Transport process chains

    Hi all
Please list out the steps to transport process chains from QAU to PRD.
We have all hte infopackages,DTP's,infoobjects int he production.
Now we need to transport ProcessChains.
    Intransport connection->Grouping option?collection option?
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks,
    Harika.

    Hi Harikag,
The problem that you are facing is most often faced when the transport is made from DEV / QUA system to production system. This occurs more often when objects already existing in production are re-transported to production. Most of the times the corresponding transformation / DTP's get inactive. Nothing can be done as the the entire thing depends on way you transport the objects to production, only prevention is possible or else you need to apply the cure :). Don't worry as this is common scenario during transports. Try activating the transformations manually or you can try to re-transport objects in correct order. Please check the below thread, it will help you to find out the programs that can be used to activate the inactive objects manually.
ODS and Transformations get inactive after i transport it in PD.
Also check the below SCN doc which would be really helpful in case of handling inactive transformations:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10858449-1f59-2e10-0095-dde76e16d330?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
Also in case you are transporting a chain then do remember that the start variant of your Metachain & all the local chains if any should be for future date else the chain starts to run automatically once the chain is moved to production. Once the chains are moved then you will need to manually change the scheduling option as per your requirement i.e main or metachiain for the required time & local chains with "start using a metaching or API option". This point should always be remembered during a fresh transport for a new process chain.
Hope that the above info helps you in solving your problem.
    Thanks

  • How to activate / inactivate dataslice with a process chain ...

    Hi,
we would like to activate and inactive a dataslice automatically for example by means of a process chain. Does anyone has experience with this ...
Reason is that we have a forecast version with actuals and plan combined (very different structure between plan and actual data) and we  want to load actuals + initial budget in a forecast version, which is changed in IP afterwards. The unit rate calculation is difficult to be performed in the load mechanisme, but easy to calculate with FOX. Therefore after loading, we want to execute a planning sequence for which the dataslice needs to be temporary inactivated ...
    Dries

    Hi,
In the table UPC_DATASLICE, if the the value of the field INACTIVE is 'X' for the planning area and the data slice you are working on, it means that that particular data slice is inactive.
So create an exit FM to make the INACTIVE field value as 'X' for the dataslice and the planning area you want.
Call this exit FM in the process chain.
After ur processing is done, run another exit of same kind which reverts back these changes, which will activate the data slice again.
