Process Chain - Processing overdue

can any one tell me <b>when do i get</b> this error in a process chain object.. n also what do i need to do to correct this error.. we have started it manually ..
ERROR MESSAGE is as follows on an object :-
Non-updated Idocs found in Business Information Warehouse
Diagnosis
IDocs were found in the ALE inbox for Business Information Warehouse that are not updated. Processing is overdue.
Error correction:
Attempt to process the IDocs manually. You can process the IDocs manually using the Wizard or by selecting the IDocs with incorrect status and processing them manually.

HI,
following could be done to avoid this.
1) Increase the background processes i the bw system.
2) Prioratize the chain with class job A by going to sm37.
3) try the data loads when the system load is low.
4) same withe r/3 system too. if the r/3 systems processors are busy it leads to time out errors.

Hi,
We have two connected links in the process, one to continue the process chain when process status is green and other link to red status. The problem is the process status remains yellow until our confirmation in pop-up.
The process chain should be started by user in web browser. So, it isn't possible run it in background.

Cannot update data from DSO to Cube with further update in process chain

Hi Guys,
              This is the message am getting when am trying to update to cube by process further update with process chain.Process fails at further update with the following below message.
However at DSO level i can see the data mart status but no request at cube level.
Error Message:
Cannot update request REQU_D57WAP7Z2WAI1CG5Y5OQ5W7JR in data target
    Message no. RSM1523
Diagnosis
    System checks show that request REQU_D57WAP7Z2WAI1CG5Y5OQ5W7JR cannot be
    updated to a data target.
    The system checked whether
    o   request REQU_D57WAP7Z2WAI1CG5Y5OQ5W7JR is already in the data target
    o   the data target has active update rules for the InfoSource
    o   the data target was selected for updating
    o   locks exist
    o   for a DataStore object as a data target, that the request was
        updated in the correct order, if the DataStore object stipulates
When i check the monitor screen under status tab it says "A caller 01, 02 or equal to or greater than 20 contains an error meesage" and under details tab "Data Package 1 : arrived in BW ; Processing : Data packet not yet processed "

It seems you used infopack when you select update data inot datatarget then system prompts you a infopack.That's the infopack which is generated by system being used in process chain variant to update data into datatarget.
Create new infopack/ DTP manually then use that infoapck/DTP on the process chain variant then try.

Process Chain Error while activating DSO

Hello.
1st, let me say that I'm pretty new to BI so I apologize for the stupid question :-S
I have a process chain (Warehouse Mangement) that failed this morning at the DSO data activation step. It's simply because some entries have lowercase value in a field that should not. I know how easy this is to fix in the transformation but my problem is more on how to fix the actual fail of the process chain. Can I edit the "non-activated" data in the DSO (only 2-3 records that I need to put in uppercase) and "repair" my process chain or should I proceed another way?

Hi John.
If guess your Process Chain process ended in "Red color". Once you fix the error you can try to make "right-click" on the process with error and select "Repair". If this operation is "supported" by the activation process you won't have error.
But I really believe that you'll have to erase the request and launch the complete process (o set of related processes) once again. It's possible that the data you want its already in the NEW-DATA table of your ODS.
This tables is the following. /BIC/A<your ods tech-name>40

I think that if you expand the transport/import log further there will be a more detailed error message. Can you
check this? If yes can you let us know what the error message text and error code is? It might be the case that
the note 659160 is relevant for the problem.

Problem with creation of a file in a process chain

Hello dears,
I included a abap program in a process chain.
This abap program allows to create a file in a directory.
I'm using the function module GUI_DOWNLOAD for this.
1/ When I execute the program in SE38, it creates the file in the directory.
2/ When I launch the process chain, the program is executed but it doesn't create the file as expected.
=> The message is: "You have no authorization for export the object" (exception id 5 "no_authority" of the function module).
3/ So I tried to change the attributes of the process chain: process chain/attributes/execution use and i used current user (myself) or special user (myself).
When I launch the process chain, the programs is executed but it doesn't create the file
=> The message is: "Could not ascertain code page" (exception id 6 "unknown error" of the function module).
So my question is:
How to create a file using GUI_DOWLOAD in a program included in a process chain?

Hi,
Try using Open Data Set file for output to load in to application server.
The GUI_DOWNLOAD only gets the data to the presentation server,.
I think you are expecting the file in AS running GUI_Download gets only to Presentation Server.

Authorizations for Process Chains
Use
You use authorization checks in process chain maintenance to lock the process chain, and the processes of the chain, against actions by unauthorized users.
·        You control whether a user is allowed to perform specific activities.
·        You control whether a user is allowed to schedule the processes in a chain.
The authorization check for the processes in a chain runs when the system performs the check. This takes place upon scheduling or during synchronous execution. The check is performed in display mode. The check is performed for each user that schedules the chain; it is not performed for the user who executes the chain. The user who executes the chain is usually the BI background user. The BI background user automatically has the required authorizations for executing all BI process types. In attribute maintenance for the process chain, you can determine the user who is to execute the process chain.

For the administration processes that are bundled in a process chain, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_ADMWB.
To work with process chains, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_PC. Evaluation of Process Status
If you set this indicator, all the incorrect processes in this chain and in the overall status of the run are evaluated as successful; if you have scheduled a successor process upon error or always.
The indicator is relevant when using metachains: Errors in the processes of the subchains can be evaluated as unimportant for the metachain run. The subchain is evaluated as successful, despite errors in such processes of the subchain. If, in the metachain, the successor of the subchain is scheduled upon success, the metachain run continues despite errors in unimportant processes of the subchain.
Mailing and alerting are not affected by this indicator and are still triggered for incorrect processes if they have an upon error successor.
Polling Indicator
With this indicator you can control the response of the main process for distributed processes. Distributed processes, such as the load process, are characterized as having different work processes involved in specific tasks.
With the polling indicator you determine whether the main process needs to be kept until the actual process has ended.
By selecting the indicator:
-         A high level of process security is guaranteed, and
-         External scheduling tools can be provided with the status of the distributed processes.
However, the system uses more resources; and a background process is required.
Monitoring
With the indicator in the dialog box Remove Chain from Automatic Monitoring?, you can specify that a process chain be removed from the automatic monitoring using CCMS.
By default CCMS switches on the automatic process chain monitoring.
For more information about the CCMS context Process Chains, see the section BW Monitor in CCMS.
Alerting
You can send alerts using alert management when errors occur in a process chain.
For more information, see Send Alerts for Process Chains.
Background Server
You can specify here on which server or server group all of the jobs of a chain are scheduled. If you do not make an entry, the background management distributes the jobs between the available servers.
Processing Client
If you use process chains in a client-dependent application, you can determine here in which client the chain is to be used. You can only display, edit, schedule or execute the chain in this client.
If you do not maintain this attribute, you can display, edit, schedule or execute the process chain in all clients.
Process variants of type General Services that are contained in a process chain with this attribute set will only be displayed in the specified client.
This attribute is transported. You can change it by specifying an import client during import. You must create a destination to the client set here in the target system for the import post processing (transaction RSTPRFC) The chain is activated after import and scheduled, if necessary, in this client.
Execution User
In the standard setting a BI background user executes the process chain (BWREMOTE).
You can change the default setting so that you can see the user that executes the process chain and therefore the processes, in the Job Overview. You can select the current dialog user who schedules the process chain job, or specify a different user.
The setting is transported.
The BI background user has all the necessary authorizations to execute all BI process types. Other users must assign themselves these authorizations so that authorization errors do not occur during processing.
Job Priority
You use this attribute to set the job priority for all of the jobs in a process chain.

Trigger Process Chain from Source System into Target System

Hello...actually in source system BZD, we have a process chain, in the target system BWD, we have another process chain as well. We want to have a process of combining these two process chain together. When the process chain in source system is completed successfully, the system will sent out some sort of signal to start the process chain in BWD. I am not sure how this can be done, I try to use the function module "BP_EVENT_RAISE" in the BZD and when this module is called, it does not start the process chain in BWD after the process chain in BZD is completed. I just wondering am I using the correct method. If will be good if anyone here can help...thanks alot.

Check RFC connection between the two sysems.

Process chain is nothing but executing a process ..(or) loading the data any process we can do in background.. that means.. automatically we can execute our process based on Time or any event..
Creating Process Chains
Prerequisites
If you want to include a load process in the process chain, you need to have already created an InfoPackage.
You cannot load flat file data from a client workstation in the background. For this reason, you have stored your data on an application server.
Creating Process Chains
You have the option of creating a process chain in the process chain maintenance screen directly or by using a maintenance dialog for a process:
Creating a Process Chain Directly in the Process Chain Maintenance Screen
You are in the BW Administrator Workbench.
1. Click on the Process Chain Maintenance icon in the AWB toolbar.
The Process Chain Selection dialog window appears.
2. Choose Create.
3. Enter the technical name and a description of the chain, and confirm your entry.
The Add Start Process dialog window appears.
4. Create a variant for a start process.
1. a. On the Maintain Start Process screen, choose whether you want to schedule the chain directly or whether you want to start it using a metachain.
2. b. If you choose to schedule the chain directly, enter the start date value for the chain under Change Selections and save your entries.
The Maintain Start Process screen appears again.
3. c. Save your entries, return to the previous screen and confirm your entries in the Add Start Process dialog window.
You are taken to the Plan View of the process chain maintenance screen.
In the left-hand area of the screen, a navigation area is displayed. In the right-hand area of the screen, the process chain is displayed.
5. Use the drag-and-drop function to add the relevant processes into your process chain.
You use the Process Types function to select the processes. This sorts the process types according to different categories. You can also call up InfoPackages and processes for the data target from the separate InfoSources and Data Targets navigation trees.

Trigger Process chain using ABAP code

Hi All,
As per my knowledge there are 2 ways to trigger a process chain using ABAP code :
1) Using FM RSPC_API_CHAIN_START and passing process chain name as the parameter
2)Using FM 'BP_EVENT_RAISE' and passing process event as the parameter, which you can create using SM62 transaction.
I would like to know which one is better to use, in terms of advantage and disadvantage.

Hi All,
These question would be quite general. I would like to explore more about process chains & process variants. I tried to copy a process chain and created customized process variants.
1) But, how do I know what fields should go into what type of process variants.
2) Is there any reference on the list of fields and their accepted field values?
3) Each process variant has an underlying ABAP code to execute the step? How could I find more about what each step is doing?

Hi Yen Li,
What version of BPC are you using? In 7.0 there was a need to copy Process Chains; in 7.5 most of the things can be done with delivered Process Chains.
If you are doing it just for self education then it makes sense to take a look at variants of existing Process Types. Usually those variants contain all parameters a particular type can process. Most of the parameters serve as placeholders to pass parameters from DM Package logic to Process Type.
Process Variant doesn't have any code behind it; process Type has. Finding that code in BPC is no different from finding it in BW. Just open any Process Chain and select menu item Settings -> Maintain Process Types. Double click on Process Type you are interested in and in ObjectTypeName you'll see name of the Class behind that Process Type.

BW STATISTICS
If you are asking abt the flags that you see in RSA1 -> Tools -> BW Stats...you can check BW Stats for each and every infoprovider. Whenever you create an infopprovider you should always decide whether you want to turn on the BW Stats for this infoprovider. This is a manual step and can be done in each and every box individually or can be transported across the systems. Coming to your question...BW Stats are of two kinds...
1) OLAP -
If you check this flag for an infoprovider...all the statistical data for the queries built on this infoprovider gets updated into the corresponding infocubes (0BWTC_C02 and 0BWTC_C03). An example would be like number of users that ran the report in a given time, the average run time of the query and so on. This data is of immense value in deciding the steps for performance tuning techniques like aggregates!
2) WHM (Warehouse Management) -
If you turn this flag on for an infoprovider, all the statistical data like how often the cubes are loaded, when are the requests deleted from the infocubes, data abt condensing of cubes and so on is loaded into the corresponding cubes like 0BWTC_C04, 0BWTC_C05, 0BWTC_C09 and 0BWTC_C11.
You have to activate the infopackages to load into these cubes and schedule them through process chain to run once in a while so that your statistical data is uptodate.
Production support for maintaining the process chains primarily involves monitoring activities of all the chains that are running in the background...
Errors in monitoring of process chains can be categorized into 4 different sections...
Master data - Full Update
Master data - Delta Update
Transaction data - Full Update
Transaction data - Delta Update.. in terms of loading of data which can be due to server shut down or system maintenance... errors due to incorrect entries in the OLTP system in which case you'll have to fix the errors in the PSA and manually load the data...
Otherwise it can have errors on Attribute change run being locked by some other job... Aggregate Roll up failing because of attribute change run being run at the same time... Problem with hierarchies and save hierarchies...
There can be problems with the data store activation if the ODS object contains any incorrect request sitting inside it... then, you need to delete the incorrect request and reload the data again...
In case of Transaction Delta failure, you'll have to request for a repeat either manually in the infopackage or using the repeat option if available on right clicking the load event...
For Master Data Delta failures, you need to do an Re-init by deleteing the previous initalization condition in the "initalization option for source systems" in the menu scheduler or reschedule the enitre chain... because, master data generally do not support repeat of last delta ...
Majority of the issues will be based on these things only..
