Process chain - send message (email) title replaced by variant

Dear all,
On a process chain I have created a message (to send email) after a process is sucessfully completed. However, the Title I have defined on the message get overloaded by the Variant. When I save the message seems fine but when I get back to it the title was changed again. This seems to be a system error but I have failed to find an OSS note so far. Any Ideas?

We hav the option to create message......Right click the "Execute Infopackage" process type >> select create message >> select conditon(success/failure/always) >> provide recepient list >> save...........
But I don't think that u can send the wrong records in the infocune..........

Unable to get process chain successful messages via custom program

Hi all,
I am executing a process chain both from the custom program and RSPC transaction. A message is supposed to generate for all the successful executions. The problem is I'm getting the message via email while executing it via RSPC transaction. But while executing it from the custom program I cant get the messages though the process chain has run successfully. I'm using the FM RSPC_API_CHAIN_START where the synchronous and noplan parameters are checked to suppress the server name and priority pop-ups . Following is the code for reference,
CALL FUNCTION 'RSPC_API_CHAIN_START'
       EXPORTING
      i_chain            = l_chain
      i_synchronous      = c_x

Debug and check what values you are getting at Exceptions.
or you can use RSPC_CHAIN_START instead RSPC_API_CHAIN_START.
or you can get the status of process chain using FM RSPC_API_CHAIN_GET_STATUS or table RSPCPROCESSLOG.

Process chain status message in the custom screen.

HI All,
We have created a custom screen for hierarchy upload in BW once the file has been uploaded it will trigger an event which is triggering a process chain. The process happen like
Upload the file from desktop it will go and sit in al11 folder
Trigger an event which will trigger the process chain
Infopackge routine has been written which will download the file for al11.Please find the attached screenshot is for your reference.
Once the DTP has been completed we need to trigger a message which will tell us the status of the DTP like finished successfully or not. This message should have to show in the custom screen which we have provided to the customer.
We are aware of mail recipient list option. Please suggest further options

Hi Appana,
Yes, we can identify any screen changes from sy-datar. It is set when I make any changes in the custom screen also. But I dont want to give a pop up every time I leave the custom screen. I want to give raise a pop up for saving the delivery document just like any other SAP screen (For eg. SAP Screens do not give a pop up when we move from one screen to another screen, but it gives a pop up if we try to do a subsequent functions like picking without saving the changes in delivery).

Missing subject line in BW Process Chain Messages

Hi Experts!
We are using BW3.5 (Support pack 16) process chains. There are a number of process chains and almost every thing is working fine.
But 2 process chains, send message without any subject into the email.
I did a number of tricks e.g. reactivated/rescheduled process chains, removed from scheduling and rescheduled, also deleted and recreated the message but nothing is working.
Did any one else face the similar problem?

Process Chain Data load fail /send email is not woking

Hello Experts,
I have created a process chain for daily data load. And created a message variant to send an email if the data load fials, but it's not working. I am not sure what I am missing. Here are the step I did...
1. Right click on the Info Package in the process chain and select Create Message, select errors radio button and then created new variant.
2. In the variant screen, clicked on Maintain Recipient list and enter the Recipient names and mail options like express mail, send copy etc there and then saved.
Didn't select any under REcip type. Not sure whether it's needed.

did you configure the Basis process to send external emails and the automatic output process?
You could see this in tx SCOT
If there´s any record in tree (SAP SERVER)->INT->SMTP
Here.... if is not configured the automatic output you can manually send the emails.....
If this doesn´t works you need to talk to your basis support for the email basis configuration....

I scheduled a Process Chain with Message option to send it to (U - INternet Address) email ID but it says some error in sending message. What could be the reason ?

Using Alert Framework to send email notifications when Process Chain fails

Hi Everyone,
I've configured ALRTCATDEF in Solution Manager, selected the alerting option for Process Chains in - RSPC > Attributes > Alerting, but it looks like whenever any process chain fails, an email notification will be sent to the same recipients.
Is there anyway to have an ALRCATDEF - alert category for different process chains, so that different recipients receive notifications for different Process Chains.

Interesting....I was actually hoping for different recipients for different process chains.
E.g. for our
CRM process chain - Support Team 1
FI process chain - Support Team 2
and so on and so on.
I think the only way may be creating a custom process type and implementing a class for this process type that calls function SALRT_CREATE_API. Then adding this process type to the process chain, with a different variant for each.
However if anyone knows a way to do this in a SAP standard way using the Alert Framework, that would be great.

Process Chain - dynamic email recipients

I know process chain maintain message to send out email upon success/ failure. BUT I wanted to know if there is a way to send out email based on the person who stream the process chain run? I could only hardcode the recipient for internet address eg. [email protected] or use distribution list.

Thanks fr your reply. I have done sending exception reports to sap users, but, I had to mention the users in the email recipient list. Here, in this scenario, I dont know the email recipients list, since this list depends on the exception report. Only the users having the exceptional sales values need to get the email not everyone.
because of this, the recipient list will vary everyday based on the exceptional values.

Process chain doesn't trigger the failed process untill we manually do it.

We have set up the process chain send a successful and error messages to our cell id and emails. Some time the process chain fails but does not triggers the error message unless we manually go into the logs (next day) and trigger it. Was wondering if any one had faced a similar kind of issue?
Any way to fix this?

Error catching in process chains

Hi experts
I need to know if it's possile to catch errors while executing a process chain;
actually if one of my process chains fails, it brutally stops without reaching the last process that resets some flags and sends an email to the client. Instead of this behaviour, I would like that after any error the process chain resumes directly the last process that sends the email.

Usually if any failure in the process chain, it stops at that point and won't reach to the last process to execute the email variant. If we didn't get email means that some problem within the process chain. So all process variants will get connected only with if successful option. I think, this is how it works. Am not sure how the PC ending up with sending some email to the client as you mentioned. Check the connectors.
I don't think so we can catch the error the way you mentioned within process chain. Probably you can think of calling the PC through ABAP program with all your custom options.

How to Notify if Process Chain DOES NOT complete?

How do I use Process Chains to notify me if the end process of a chain DOES NOT run by a certain time? Example: Chain starts at 6PM every night, always finishes by 7:30. If it doesn't complete by 8:00, I want to be notified. I can spawn an event on completion of the chain, but the 8PM job has to notify me ONLY IF this event is not active. How to do that?

Well you can make the ABAP process type send message
RSPC>from main menu Settings>Maintain process types
change mode -->select process type "ABAP" and change "possible events" to "Process ends successful or Incorrect" save it.
come out of process chain and goto the process chain maintenance again.
In regards to your question of 18 steps ,as i said you only need this ABAP process type once at the END of the Process chain to SET the flag status = X.
Another Process chain runs at 8.00 with only one process type ABAP process type to check the status in table if empty or X and send message accordingly,
Fyip - table RSPROCESSLOG and FM - RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH also available at your disposal to get some leads.
You can wait until some one has better solution and implemented it before,i just put my thoughts in to it,its not imperative for you.
I leave the thoughts with you.

Weekly process chain

there are three process chains that run one after the other in the job on 17/08/2007 if i see the logs there is no error in any process step but if see the job in sm37 it is in cancelled status and the 3rd pc is failed "Timeout reached for process chain XXXXX"

Hi,
you can schedule process Chain by triggering event as given below.
Steps To Run Process Chian by Triggering Events :-
Go to Tcode SM62 -
>
    Select BckProcEvnts Tab ---> Select Create put some name and save .
Go to Tcode RSPC -
>
    Select Variant----> After Event Tab -
> put the name of event which u created in SM62 .
    Tick the check box for Periodic job.
Goto Se38----> Program BTC_EVENT_RAISE
Put the name of Event u created and assigned in RSPC and Create variant with same name
Se38- put BTC_EVENT_RAISE--> select variants radiobutton> choose display->
Put name and save .
Goto SM36---->Put job Name >Goto Step tab->
     Put the name of program which u used in se38 and variant name and save

Your question is not clear, can you please tell us at what level the you are getting this perticular error in the Process chain.
To the extent that i understood is that when you try to put the DTP while you create the process chain.
If this is correct then i feel like that you are trying to insert the same DTP twice in creation of the process chain.
And more over change the display to Graphical mode rather that the Netwok mode while you display the Process chain in RSPC T-code.

BI Content 7.57 SP4 Activating Process Chain

I am trying to activate a process chain from BI content . My source system is ERP 6.0. While collecting objects for activating this Process Chain BW gives an errors. It says some of DTP and Transformations are missing. I have put two of the errors are at below.
When i search these missing objects on the BI content these objects are not exist. Also on the BW system they are not exist. I could not find any solution for this problem.
Can you please show me a way for solving this. I am stuck on this.

BI_CONT 703 0000 - Business Intelligence Content.
Is my BI_CONT add-on installed successfully?
And also i am not able to see BI_CONT in imported packages list.

Why the process chain always run twice when triggered from R3?

I run a program from R3 by calling the remote function 'RSSM_EVENT_RAISE' on BW to trigger an event and in turn the event on BW bring up the running of a process chain. But whenever I run the program on R3 to bring up the running of the process chain, I find the process chain always run twice at the same time. Does anybody knows the answer?
And also I would like to know the functionalities of the two picture buttons "Activate" and "Activate and Schedule" in process chain. In which case the "Activate" button should be used and in which case, the "Activate and Schedule" button should be used? If we click the Start variant of a process chain, then click "Change Selections" button which bring up the window "Start Time" where the buttons "Immediate", "Date/Time", "After job", and "After event" are listed at the top. If we modify at any of the above buttons, then after save this modification, we will have to click "Activate and Schedule" button to make it work, right?

Kevin, make sure there is only one job scehduled for the Start Process of your Process Chain. If you bring up the Process Chain (not the log view), right click on the Start Process and select "Displaying Scheduled Job(s)...". There should only be one scheduled job with name BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER. If there is more than one, then when triggered, it would execute more than once at the same time. If there is only one job, then maybe your R/3 program is triggering the event more than once?
As far as the Start conditions for the Start Process, it works off the same principals as a scheduled job. These start conditions determine when or how the Process Chain is to be executed. You also have control over frequency. These start conditions determine the scheduling of the Start Process of your Process Chain.
When you schedule a Process Chain, a separate scheduled job is created for "each" process in the Chain. BW controls the triggering of these jobs based upon how the processes in the Chain are linked. All the jobs associated with Process Chains have strict naming conventions and all begin with BI_PROCESS_... If you use SM37 to view all jobs that begin with BI_PROCESS_ you will find alot of scheduled jobs associated with your process chains. Each job represents one of the processes within your process chains.
Does this help?
Another tip might be to trigger the event manually in BW (use tx SM64). If the process chain executes twice again, then maybe there is a separate scheduled job in BW that triggers the process chain that is triggered by the same event as the start process of the process chain.
