Process chain Types.

Hi Gurus,
Can some one explainhow many process chain types are there in sap bw3.5.I searched in forums.But i didnt get answer.

Process chain types are two.
1) direct chain : meanns single chain
2) meta chain: Process chains can be scheduled as processes in additional process chains, which are known as meta chains. If the process chain you want to execute is in another system, use the process type Process Chain Remote, called remote process chain in the following. A remote process chain is a local process in the calling system that calls a process chain in this system, using a destination in another system, that is to be executed there. The remote process chain communicates with the other system and synchronously starts the executed process chain. After terminating the process chain in another system, this is reported back to the meta chain in the calling system.

Hi Venkat,
Select "Start Using Meta Chain or API" for the start process when running a process chain from a third party scheduling software or when calling a process chain from within another process chain.
I also believe some third party scheduling software will also work if you set the start process to "Direct Scheduling" and set the start time to immediate but I would recommend just making it a Meta Chain for tracking purposes.

Process chain s linking problem ?

HI ALL ,
i have a main chain , in which i have to include one chain by using local process type .
when i am linking it is giving message that shows , " if u link them one of the process chain will be deleted and its process assigned to the other chains .
which one of the two chains do you want to delete ?
which options do i need to select .

Hi Srinivas
After creating a start variant for the main chain, you need to make use of the Local process chain type wherein you need to
get the new process chain name and link the start variant with the local chain.
Make sure that the start variant of the local chain has the option as Start using Metachain in it.

Process chain and Abap

I have an ABAP Report which does following:
1. Create Selection via parameters - in table lt_sel.
2. Delete CUBE
3. Own implemantation using lt_sel and fill cube.
4. Compress Cube.
Now point 2. and 4. should work in a process chain.
How can i deliver the Abap parameters from 1 to 3 (own implementation class)???

You question is not clear enough for me. I need more detail. For example, what are your selecting? Data that goes into a cube, or a selection of cube names? What do you mean by "own implementation"?
How to deliver what parameters to what? What are the process types in your process chain? Are you asking how to develop your own process chain type?

Process Chain name Chage

I am trying to find out a way to change the technical name of my Process Chain. I didn't find any option for deletion too. Can any one of you advise on this. Thank You.

I don't think you can change the technical name of a process chain. Copy the existing process chain into a new one and delete the old one.
Copy process chain
Transaction RSPC -> Double click on process chain-> type "COPY" in transaction area
Delete Process chain
Transaction RSPC -> Double click on process chain-> Shift-F2 ( or from menu -> Process chain -> Delete).

Go to the transaction RSPC there u will find create new process chain (or do F5) it will ask for process chain name and varient of start process. Once u have done this u will find start process which is default process for all chains. Then in the left pannel there is icon for process type (beside the refresh button). If u click on that it will give u a list of all possible process that u can add to ur process chain. Then just drag the process type in the right pannel giving appropriate varients. Once that process type appeared in right pannel just link that with start process and follow the same procedure for further processes to in this way make chain of processes.

Error "Object 'DM' (APCO) of type 'Application' is not available in version 'A'" while transporting process chain to production system.

Hi Gurus,
Whenever I try to transport a process chain ZFI_0FIGL_C10 from dev. to qua. & prod. the error “Object 'DM' (APCO) of type 'Application' is not available in version 'A'” is displayed in the end of creating transport package.
The process chain was created to load data to 0figl_c10 and it works all right on all systems (dev. qua. prod.).
The process chain contains processes for:
- starting the process chain
- executing infopackage (for loading data to 0figl_o10),
- ACR (activate data in 0figl_o10)
- delete index 0figl_c10
- DTP loading data from 0figl_o14 to 0figl_c10
- executing infopackage 80FIGL_O10
- creating index in 0figl_c10
- building DB statistics
- rolling up aggregates in 0figl_c10
- deleting of requests from the changelog 0figl_o10
- deleting of requests from PSA (0fi_gl_10)
How to find what cause that error.

Hi,
A SAP consultant told me to ignore that error.
Indeed, after creating transport with some new process chains (again I was informed about that error "APCO ...") and transporting it to production everything works all right.
The problem is described in sap note: 883745.

Email Alert for Process Chain for ABAP Process Type

Hi BW Experts,
                         I created a process chain based on ABAP Process Type ( for Broadcasting rsrd_broadcast_starter). I want to add alert message for each ABAP process if it is failed. But I cant see any option showing Successfull or Error or Always when I select create message option on the process type. How ever I can see for other process chain which is loading data (Process Type is Info Package ) from SAP into BW.
                         Please some one tell me why it is not showing alert message for ABAP Process Type.

I dont have the exact answer for your question, But as a work around i can suggest you that.
If these ABAP programs are included in a chain and this local chain is a part of meta chain then you can create a message on the local chain.By right clicking on the local chain >Create Message>Success

Process Type ABAP does not work properly via process chain

Dear SDNers
I am running a process chain and it contains process type ABAP program. ABAP program was running correctly till now via this process chain. ABAP program process type generally takes approximately 2 hours to run. But now, this process type for ABAP program just run for less than 1 minute and finishes successfully. The issue is that ABAP program does not run at all.
I ran the ABAP program in background and it took approximately 2 hours to run. ABAP Program is local means in our BW system and does not involve Remote Function call. We have BI7.0 system
Has some one came across this type of issue?

Has the aleremote user or which ever user you have defined for background scheduling changed permissions recently?
What happens if you create an adhoc chain and include this ABAP variant, does it run then?
What does the log say in SM37 when run via process chain?

Hi,
As process chain is to automate the data load step.
For Ex:- If you are loading data from R/3 to DSO CUBE.
Here you require Info package to load till PSA.
DTP to load till DSO
Another DTP to load Cube.
And all other process like psa deletion AND process you can find in RSPC tab.

Decision type in process chain

Hi
I have added decision type in process chain with below formula.
WORKINGDAY_MONTH( SYST-DATUM, 'US', '' ) <= 7
now, i want to run this same process for last working day of the month as well,,
How can i add that here.

Hello Anuja,
You can try with below formula !
DATE_MONTH( SYST-DATUM + 1 ) <> DATE_MONTH( SYST-DATUM )
This will check if today is the last day of current month, means this code will check if today's month is equal to tomorrow's month . If not then this is last working day of the month.
And on every lst working day it will be successful.
Secondly you can try writing the ABAP Code ( Customer Exit) for this.

chain maintenance screens to specify the conditions for
automatic deletion, these conditions are applied to all
the InfoCubes for the selected InfoPackages
Overlapping: If you set this indicator, existing requests are also
delete from the InfoCube if the selection criteria of the new request partially or wholly overlap the selection criteria of the request to be deleted
Same or Comprehensive: If you set this indicator,
requests are only deleted from the InfoCube if
the selection conditions of the new request are
the same as or more comprehensive than the selection
conditions of the request to be deleted.

Process type in Process chain

HI all;
I want to cancel the process type if it takes let's say more than 2 hrs.; the reason is sometimes the rollup job don't finish and just hang it forever...until more than 12 hrs and we have to manually cancel the job in the morning when we come to the office. This is affecting the runstats job when we do after the process chain completes.
so, is there any set up that I can do to cancel the process types let's say rollup for a cube if this doesn't finish by 2 hrs automatically.

they are SEM cubes; and there are several situations sometimes the rollup gets stucks..; for example if some users do the planning in the same cube, or locks.,,etc..we tried to tell all the planner not to do any activities during the daily process chain time. we are doing rollup and compress every day for the sem cubes.
