Process chains shows detial view only.

Dear Experts,
i am working on Bi 7.0 . i am monitoring process chains.when i opend it shows detial views only.
when went to View----->details views off. and i have fully refreshed . again it shows me process chains in detaill view only.
when i went view----> menu looking for details it is now details view off. But process chain not displyed correctly like what we intended view.
i will assign full point for the correct suggestion . it is very critical .

How to stop the process chain showing status as yellow but no process step is running in that process chain.
We have manually triggered the process chain for sales it finished successfully till load data but the next step is create index and DB statistics. Both of this steps are in unscheduled position only and no background job for this.
Please guide me.

Process chain shows DTP running

We are on latest patch levels in BI 7.0.
One of our production process chain is not completing. It shows no messages, DTP from DSO to cube remains yellow. We don't see any request updating in the cube. However, manual execution of DTP is working fine.
I have dependent process chains, and I need to make this process chain green.
Please help

Some patch is missed in production system i guess.
Could you please cancel the DTP that is currently running in the
System and restart it again. Before restarting the DTP please make
sure that the lock from the DDFTX and NRIV tables have been released.
Please ask the database administrator to ensure that there are no
locks on the database on these tables before starting the DTP again.
The issue with the lock on the DDFTX table usually happens when an
upgrade is done and on restarting it the issue should not occur again.
Could you please implement note 1155807. This note should prevent the
locking on the DDFTX table

BW objects in Process Chain Maintenance Planning view disappeared.

I am running Business Information Warehouse 3.1
We recently updated our system to the lastest supportpacks. After the supportpacks were completed. When I go to edit process chains in transaction RSA1, all the objects in the left are no longer there. Have anyone experience this? How can I get the objects back?

in process chains date/time , log id ,chian -- in date/time the process chains shows red or green
it shows clock wise in last 3 months what to do

Hi Prasana,
The clock symbol denotes that the chain has been changed. It also gives activation information.
The chian gets triggered once it has been activated and scheduled.
Once the chain runs and completes successfully, you see a green request with time stamp.
If it fails, a red request is seen with the time stamp.
Did it clear your doubt. If not do tell, so that I will try to eloborate better.

Process Chains - Like to see elements and affected info providers

Hi,
I am wondering if there is any possibility to get an overview of all active process chains with their process elements/steps and the affected objects within these steps/process chains (like infocubes, ODS etc.). In principle it's a process chain detailed view (like in RSPC chart) but not as a chart and not for one PC only but in a list for all PCs. So far I took a look into various tables like RSPCCHAIN (master table for process chains), RSPCVARIANT (attributes for certain process step types of a process chain), and RSPCVARIANTATTR (certain process types) but want to avoid any further effort to combine all these in Excel if there is an easier way to get that information.
Background of my query is that we have a certain set of high-priority process chains and I need to know all involved info providers (Info Cubes, ODS, PSA etc.) to give the Operations guy a heads-up whenever something is not fine with these providers. So having a query where I can input the set of PCs would be great.
Any feedback is highly appreciated.

Thanks for your replies. Transactions RCPCM and RZ20 are pretty helpful for monitoring purposes.
Anyway, for my described purpose I have designed a query with the QuickViewer (SQVI) joining tables RSPCCHAIN (Process Chains), RSPCCHAINT (PC description), and RSPCVARIANT (attributes for the steps within a PC). When I filter for field RSPCVARIANT-FNAM = "DTA-CUBE" OR "DTA-ODSO" I get all Cubes and ODS for a given process chain (RSPCVARIANT-LOW). Only drawback so far is that I don't get the explosion of meta chains and have to select each of the included chains separately but that's feasible as we don't have many nested chains.

Process chain Activation Variant failed

Dear Gurus
In BI7 executed a process chain,in this ods activation is in 4 th step,turned in to red,i repeated and got executed.
Questions:
1.I checked in DSO all data got activated,only in process chain showed red status....how it is possible.
2.Eventhough 4th step turned in to red,below all (5,6,7...th steps) went through,how it happened,if some variants failed means next variant should not get executed?
3.When i did repeat it thrown ABAP debugging screen,i executed and went through well,ods activation variant became green.
When i was trying to see display message,it is empty no error message.
Root cause analysis i should give...pls how and where to do the analysis.....

After the 4th Step, the further processes executed means, they might have put the settings as Success or failure of the predecessor process it can through the further 5th, 6th and 7th processes.
3.When i did repeat it thrown ABAP debugging screen,i executed and went through well,ods activation variant became green.
Check for short dumps ST22.

Process Chain Status is Red even though all processes are successful.

I implement ABAP Code by using standard function module "RSPC_CHAIN_START" for execute process chain and return status of process chain after execute completely as following code:

From above code, when execute this function module, sometimes status of process chain is shown as canceled 'X', therefore, output of this function module is shown as "The process chain is canceled". When monitor process chain in RSPC log view, the process chain status is also shown as canceled 'X' and status of all process in process is green, however, after wait for a while, the status changed from canceled 'X' to successful 'G'.
Why did the status of process chain show as canceled 'X' even though finally process chain status is successful ? If I want to check status of process chain after execute completely, which status should to check in ABAP code?

Using that FM.. u will be providing the Instance and Variant of the failed process.. and hence the reload will start from the failed process but not the entire chain...
In general the process status shud finish then or based on the link combination the change from one process to other will happen...
try to maintain a wait time between the process atleast 2 to 4 secs..

Issue in Process Chain Status

We have various process chains for daily loads. Among those some of the process chain shows the status as red, but the data loaded successfully in the targets. And subsequent chains are not getting triggered.
Can someone let me know the solution for this please?

Hi Sarath,
May be some of the process type got failed in the process chain, and it might got sucessfull only after manually resolving or may be after repeating from the Process chain, In these cases some times the process chain entire status turns to RED.
You can forcefully change the process chain to Green.
copy the variant and Instance of the process chain(or select the last process type in the process chain)
goto SE11-->Enter the table RSPCPROCESSLOG and execute --> now enter the copied variant and instance here and execute, It'll give you a new pop up with a LOG id, copy this log id as well.
Now gto se37>Functional module>RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH execute and the enter the copied vaiant, instance and logid, and also enter G (sucesfully completed) in I_State and now execute.

Process chains always cancelled directly

while executing a process chains, it is always cancelled directly. The log shows the following message:

Diagnosis
Process ABAP (variant /SIE/RT_PV_CLOSE_REQUEST_EFC) needs to be started. According to the process chain maintenance, it needs to be scheduled while waiting for event /SIE/RT_PV_CLOSE_REQUEST_EFC 44IM3WWNHW3Q6IAMA88TS086H. However, this is not the case.
System response
The chain is terminated.
Procedure
In order to complete the chain run, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that Start Using Metachain or API is selected in the variant maintenance for the start process. By doing so, you ensure that the chain is not restarted.
2. Schedule the process chain.
3. In the log view for the process chain maintenance, choose View -> Merge Active Version, and end the incorrect process or using the respective context menu entry.
Does anyone have an idea, how to solve this issue?

Process Chain statistics (new stats in 2004s)

Hi,
We have activated and are loading all stats (new ones) for 2004s. We are checking the stats through the portal. We have many stats showing in the default web templates used in the portal to display stats. Process Chain stats are the only ones showing no data...which can't be true because we have only been loading with process chains.
Where do you "activate" stats for Process chains themselves? I am aware of RSPC_API_CHAIN_GET_STATUS, but it appears with 2004s, delivered is a process chain statistics?

"Transfer structure is not yet active" in each variant of a process chain

I run a big process chain in test environment that I had never run before, but find almost every variant of the process chain show the red error, when I right click the red color variant, get the msg at the status bar that says "Transfer structure is not yet active". Is there a way that can do the mass activation of all master data attributes?

Process Chain and e-mail configuration

We have configured a process chain e-mail message recipient by keying in the full recipient e-mail address in the message screen. This works successfully.
However, we would prefer to use the SAP User ID in the process chain message configuration. (The sap User Id would contain the external e-mail id)
Why: Because we do not want to have to reconfigure the process chain every time a user or an e-mail changes. We would like to use a generic user in the process chain configuration, and then only change the generic user e-mail when changes occur.
When trying to use the sap user id in the process chain no mail message is received.
We would like to seek input from folks in this forum who may have worked with a similar scenario and have developed a solution, or could provide suggestions on how to make this work.

Updating an existing process chains created in 3.5 upgraded to 7.0

I added DTP's to my process chain, see below process.
1) Load Inventory data to PSA (R3 to BI)
2) Run ODS DTP
3) Activate ODS
4A) Run DTP to Cube (If I add this, it works, but the Process Chain shows warning, must have Further processing before DTP to Cube.) Is a warning okay?
4B) Run Further Processing (Data Store object, ODS_BF). The Process chain check shows no warning, no error. But, when the process chain is executed, this last process executes DTP to the cube and also executes the Info Package from BI to BW (8ODS). We are not using the Info Package of BI to BW at this time, we did not migrate this info package.
Please help me understand how this should work.

Warning is okay but its no harm to have " Further Processing " in ur chain.
1. Start
2. Execute Infopackage ( loads till psa )
3.Execute DTP ( to load DSO frm PSA )
4.Activate DSO
5.Further Processing
6.Delete Indexes for Cube
7.Execute DTP ( to load Cube frm DSO )
8.Create Indexes for Cube
Infopackages n DTPs shud all be delta in update type.

Step by Step method to create a process chain in SAP BI

HI There,
I'm new to SAP BI, can anyone pleas explain me why we need to use Process Chains in a simpler way?
Also it would be great if someone can give me step by step description for creating process chain. I've seen couple of PDF files but they confusing me more then clearing my doubts. Appreciate your time and thanks in advance.

Hi Vandana,
1.Go to RSPC tcode ->(F5) create ->It will ask for process chain name ->then it will ask for start variant
2.If you have no start variant pre created then create new one (at right side there will be a paper symbol for that ).Every process chain has one and only one start variant that is to set scheduling option etc .When you will create a new one you will go to a screen where you have scheduling option .
3.a) Direct scheduling ->to start execution immediately
b) start using meta chain or API ->chains which run at specific time (day ,month etc or after some specific event ). save your settings and go back .click check symbol for final creation of start variant.
4.Now at left screen you have chain symbol (process types) .when you will click on that you will have all the process lists .
5.You can select process as per your requirement and connect different processes together.Each process is a different event (ex : load DTP ,Infopackage ,ABAP program ,AND ,Interrupt ).You cna do detailed study for that .
6.After adding all processes activate (ctrl+F3) and execute .
7.After that you can check logs (shift+F1) .you can see todays log ,yesterday and today etc .For details of every process execution right click on process and see display variant .
Hope this will be helpful for basic startup.you can further read thoroughly on each process .
