Process Determination in Rule Designer

Hi,
why is that i am not able to find Approval SubType under Process Determination Type in Rule Designer? I can see only User provisioning and Organization Provisioning under Process Determination Type.

What version of OIM are you on? If 11G then there is no approval process in OIM and hence there should not be any approval determination rule as well.

  • OIM 9.1.0.2 - Approval rule (Design Console)

    Hi experts,
When I make a Process Determination/Approval rule, is it possible to use requestee information?
As far as I can see, I just can use requester/requestor information. IHAC that needs to use information (attributes) of the user for whom something is requested.
    Any tip?
    Carlos

You are correct. If you pre-populate, it will be the requester. The requester would need to manually populate the field during the request with the requestee information. And there is only one form available. You can however, after submission of the request, get the request data, parse the Consolidated Request Data to determine the id's in the request field, and then return appropriate responses to trigger the tasks needed. This will still be a problem in the long run because you can't change the requestee information for each approval task. You're pretty much out of luck on this one.

  • Process determination Rules

    Hello all,
iam trying to understand the significance of the "Process determination Rules" tab under resource object is? i understand i can assign rules here which i have defined in the rule builder screen . what i want to know what effect will it have on any reconciliation that will be done for this resource?
    thanks

Each resource object is comprised of one (or more) provisioning process and potentially
    one (or more) approval process.
The resource object definition serves as a template to be referenced
when the resource is being provisioned to users or organizations. Since the resource
definition may be linked to multiple approval and provisioning processes, Oracle
Identity Manager must know which approval process and provisioning process to
execute when the resource is requested or direct provisioned to users or organizations.
This determination is made using the use of process determination rules.
    Thanks,
    Devendra

  • About the process determine rule

I'd like to have different approval process of requesting resource for different user type, and I know that we can implement it using process determine rule.Everything goes well if the requester is the user himself. But if a manager requests resource for his employees,we can't obtain the employees' info,as we have to use the user type as rule,so all of them have the same approval process. In this circumstances,What should I do in order to have different approval process according their user type ?
    Thanks in advance!

As the target user is not known until the request is submitted you will not be able to invoke the approval based on identity type if anyone other than the user requests a resource for the end user.
in your default approval process you can have a task which will check for the identity type of the user and then according insert an approval task in the workflow that is required when the identity type is a specific value.
e.g. if identity type is employee approval by security dept is needed
Have the porcess determination rule that will serve if users place requests for themselves. if others place a request on behalf of the user then the process determination rule will evaluate to false and the default approval associated with the ro will get kicked off. It is in the default approval that you write the above mentioned adp that checks for id type and invokes / injects approvals tasks dynamically into the workflow. check the api's for instantiating an approval task. you will need to have uncheck the set disable insert checkbox on the approval task.

  • Testing rules designed using Oracle Business Rules in Oracle 11g SOA

    Hi.
I want to test the rules designed in ORB from a java class or a JSP.
I am looking for a way to provide input from a form/UI , then execute the rules and display the result back on form/UI.
Any sample showing how to achieve this would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Chinmay

    Hi Chinmay,
Oracle's SOA testing framework allows any or all ofthe invoked services to be emulated. Simply click on the invocation in the process diagramand supply a response document to use instead of actually invoking the service. Tests can also make assertions about document content at any step in the business process. You can use a SOAP client to test you WS, such as Fiddler, generic SOAP UI, SOAP UI utility. You can also do your unit testing from the OBR Designer itself.
    Hope that helps!

  • Problem using "Create Business Rule Design Definition" utility

    Hi everyone,
I tried to create a business rule with Headstart Utilities - Create Business Rule Design Definition (Revision 6.0.0.20) and I got the following errors :
    Errors
    Message
Combination of Message Prefix and Message Number (SGM-ENG) does not match format AAA-NNNNN.
Activity aborted with ORACLE internal errors.
    -1400 ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("HST50"."QMS_MESSAGE_TEXT"."LANGUAGE")
I suppose that the utility concatenate the message prefix and the language to build the error message.
Our Oracle Designer version is 6.0.3.9.0, Headstart 2.1.2 with patch 12.4 and Developper is 6.0.5.35.3
    Any patch available?

    Tim,
Headstart should be able to check out any tables you need.
We think we have the user settings
done correctly, but there may be something that we
have missed. How can we get Headstart to
automatically check-out the table(s) for which we
want to run the Business Rules design transformer? The user settings you need are (see also pages 5-7 and 5-10 in the Headstart User's Guide):
    - Under 'Process the following objects', choose 'Checked out by anyone'
    - Also check the check box '... also Checked In objects'
    - Choose whether you want to automatically check out with or without lock
If this does not help, please run the utility with log level 'Debug Detailed' (can also be set in the User Preferences) and report the last few lines of the log messages. They should give an indication of why the check out does not succeed.
    Hope this helps,

  • Headstart Business Rule Design Xformer utility

When using the Headstart Business Rule Design Transformer to generate Business Rules, the table is required to be checked out. In previous releases, we have been told that an automatic check-out is performed on the table(s), but ours forces us to manually check-out the table definition, or it does not continue. We think we have the user settings done correctly, but there may be something that we have missed. How can we get Headstart to automatically check-out the table(s) for which we want to run the Business Rules design transformer? Or is this a bug in the current release? We are using Headstart release v6.5.2.3 (HSU_BRTR). Thanks.

  • BPM process and BRM rules process in same development component in NWDS

    Hi All,
Is it possible to create the BPM process and BRM rules process in the same development component in NWDS?
I tried but whenever we create it,say, first ly for BPM,that is File-New-Project-Development Component-Process Composer
While once this development component is created I try to create rules composer in the same composer by right clicking on local development component as well as process composer but ther is no option of creating /calling rules composer/rules modeling.
Can you please guide me creating both BPM process and BRM rules composer/rules modeling in the same development component if its possible?
    Thanks in advance

Open your project explorer and expand the BPM project you have created. Locate a folder named "Rules" in the Project Tree. Right-click on the Rules folder and select 'Create new rule'. You can model your rules such as rule-scripts here and use it in the BPM.
Note: These rules cannot be used outside the BPM Project.

  • Why not allow Business Rule Design Transformer to overwrite existing BRDDs

    Hi,
It can be quite annoying during development to continually having to remove the BRDD Trigger and PL/SQL Definition when running the BR Design Transformer reveals missing information in the BR Analysis definition. It seems that it would be practical to have at least the option to have the Business Rule Design Transformer overwrite an existing Business Rule Design Definition.
You could think of an additional parameter in this utilily labeled "Overwrite existing BRDD?" with allowable values Y(es) and N(o) with No as default (so that the default functionality is the same as before).
Below you find the code that can be added to the HSU_BRTR package to realize such a functional improvement. Maybe you can consider it for a next release...?!

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

  • Business Rule Design Transformer fails with ORA-00001

I'm stuck with the Business Rule Design Transformer Utility of Headstart. After running this utility over one BR it is impossible to run it over other BR's because of violation of the unique constraint HST65.QMS_MSP_PK (table QMS_MESSAGE_PROPERTIES). The problem is that the utility tries to insert a record (message, specified in the Notes property of Designer) into QMS_MESSAGE_PROPERTIES with the code "ABI-10000", that was already created by running the utility for the first time.
Exact error message: "Activity aborted with ORACLE internal errors.
    -1 ORA-00001: unique constraint (HST65.QMS_MSP_PK) violated"
    I'm using Designer 6i (6.5.52.1.0) and Headstart 6.5.1.3
If someone has any clue about this I would be very grateful
    Cheers,

    Jan,
The name of the business rule is already in the CONSTRAINT_NAME of the QMS_MESSAGE_PROPERTIES table.
I already tested by deleting the records in the two tables, QMS_MESSAGE_PROPERTIES and QMS_MESSAGE_TEXT, and ran the utility, but it didn't help either. I can run the utility for one rule, but when I want to run it again at some later point, it fails with this error.
But, I managed to create rule definitions using the HSU Create Business Rule Design Definition, rule by rule. I only had to add references in the business rule to the used module.

  • Can we call the Human Task operations and the Rule Designer, etc. from outs

    Hi,
I just had one of my customers ask me -
Can we call the Human Task operations and the Rule Designer, etc. from outside the SOA Suite ??
Since these are independent applications, and that they are based on Service Oriented Architecture, I should be able to call these services from outside Oracle SOA Suite (SCA) for reuse.
In case you have any idea about the possibilities, could you share some real world examples / URLs please ?
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Vaibhav,
Yes, you are right. We are using Oracle SOA suite 11g.
My question is, can these Web Services be directly accessed from, say a .NET application without using BPEL PM, or is using BPEL a must to invoke these services in Human Task operations, Rule Designer, etc ?
