Process files in sequence

HI,
I have an scenario of file-idoc. I would be receiving 2 files from 2 different systems.. one file would be giving the status of the second file..
Like the first file converted into idoc would be giving information to SAP of how to deal with the second idoc..(generated by processing the second file)..
I would like to know how to make first file process first always and generate a idoc and then process 2nd file..
Thought of using BPM.. but correlation would be a problem.. One file might contain information about several document no.s(unique field in the 2 files)

Hi Mahesh,
To process messages sequentially, please follow the below steps:
1. In sender communication channel --> in processing tab --> Quality of Service - Please make it 'Exactly Once In Order'.
2. In sender communication channel --> in processing tab --> Queue Name - Key-in a queue name(for example - SEQUENCE)
3. Save and activate your channel.
If you make this configuration, all the files being processed by this communication channel would be processed in a sequential order.
Hence, only after the first file is processed, the second file would be picked up and processed.
Please note that if one message fails to process and is in system error status in AE of PI, the following messages would be set to holding status.
You have to manually cancel this message and reprocess the last pending message.
Hope this helps to fulfill your requirement.

Subbalaxmi

  • Processing files in Sequence using FTP Adapter

    Hi Experts,
I have searched several forums but i am not clear on  how to process the files using FTP Adapter based on Timestamp.
To process the files in sequence i.e, FIFO using FTP Adapter
i have the files with file name customer and timestamp :  customer<yyyyMMddHHmmss>
there are around 50 files in the FTP server llike this.
I need to process these files acording to the timestamp and place the files in same processing sequence in the receiver end using the file adapter.
If i specify the parametes in sender FTP Adapter as
    Qos= EOIO
    Queue name = ACCOUNT
Whether these parameters would do the processing in sequence according to the Timestamp?
Suppose if the queue ID for Inbound(SMQ2) is XBTI0_ACCOUNT then whether it will be the same for Outbound(SMQ1)?
Kindly suggest me how to process the files in sequence according to the Timestamp using FTP Adapter
    Please reply..
    Thanks
    Sai

    Hi Shabarish,
But this would require one more additional channel to process
So i think it will take more time to process.
Let me clarify my question once again.
I need to Pick the files from FTP server based on their TimeStamp and in sequence.
the file names are like this Customer<YYYYMMDDHHmmSS>.
suppose i have 3 files as
    Customer20050413044534
    Customer20050414053430
    Customer20050315034533
So i need to pick these files in this order and place the files in the same order to the receiver end(File Adapter)
    Customer20050315034533
    Customer20050413044534
    Customer20050414053430.
As i am using FTP sender adapter i cannot use processing sequence "By Date".
    please suggest me on this.
    Thanks
    Sai.

  • File selection sequence in the FTP connection for File Sender Adapter

    Hi,
I have a file to Proxy scenario using FTP connection parameters.
If there are multiple files in the sender folder, XI picks up the files randomly with no processing sequence.
I want XI to pick up the files based on the date time stamp meaning the  oldest file created in the folder should be processes first and rest all in sequence there after.
I know processing sequence can be set for NFS connection but not for FTP .
Please suggest if there's any way to make this work.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi
For the Transport Protocol "File Transfer Protocol (FTP)" files are always processed in ascending alphabetical order
If you want the file to be processed in sequence then you can use Quality of Service EOIO in the sender adapter.
The files are processed in the sequence they are picked up.
otherwise use BPM for File Sequencing..
    Refer the following Threads
FTP Sender Adapter - Processing Sequence

  • How to process files one by one using sender file adapter

    Hi,
I have to process file one by one using my file adapter (sender), because while doing the G/R materials get locked, if the same materal exist in other files.
I have maintained QOS as "Exactly Once in Order" & processing Sequence as "by date".
Processing sequence come in which tab? What will be the Queue name?
    Thanks,
    krishna

It will come under Processing tab
Here you need to select the first parameter QOS  as EOIO
Then QUEUE name and processing sequence will be enabled.
NOTE: This will work only for NFS protocol not for FTP.

  • How to process files sequentially in PI using bpm

    Hi Folks,
I am really looking for one requirement like, Sender file adapter has to pick multiple files by file name based with some time gap? Can we?normally i am getting 40 files in the source directory with some time gap like 1hr and 2 hours.but my in some situations like system got down and if the server stopped for some refresh work then 2 days files will come to source directory and after system is sap pi try to process files at a time but the messages not going in order.
I have got one BPM in this, I have tried with Process mode : Name and Date, with wait step on BPM, but no use. The way how PI behaving, if 40 files in file directory, it is picking all files in one shot. Start processing but not in order. if it is process also the SNC system can't process 4 at time.it will process files with some time gap.
The problem is on Receiver system side. The receiver system is SNC system, if old data receives later than earlier date data; we get data obsolete application error.
Ex: If I receive 25th and 26th files, first I need to process 25th first on PI sends to SNC, I need to give some time gap and pick another file or even PI picks and process 26th file, no problem but I need to give some time gap to send SNC to this 26th date file?
Please how guys, throw me your great ideas
Step1: i configured the sender file adapter with by name property to sort the files but some times pi picking new date file first and old one later.here my question is how to configure adapter to pick files in sorted by name.the filename i given like xml_0809008998_*.xml
step2: after pi picking the files in order but the messages not sending order to target system.i was configure the bpm like first recive step then transformation step then i was used wait step to process files with time gap.after that block step mode is default inside i was used 2 bblock steps.
here my question how to configure bpm process messages in order?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,
In the sender file comm channel use Processing Sequence = By Date. After that use Quality of service as EOIO and provide one queue name. Use same queue name in the receiver comm channel as well. So files will be picked by the date of the file and messages will be passed to SNC system in "first in first out" basis.

  • How to merge/append two files in sequence using BPM

    Hi All,
My senario is to append two files data into a  new file on target system, only if the two files are available on source system. In case one file on the source system, no need to process file. Data in the new file should be in sequence means 1st file data then 2nd file data.
Please suggest me how can i achieve this functionality using BPM.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sreeni

For the first part (two files required) design as per Prateek's suggestion
Data in the new file should be in sequence means 1st file data then 2nd file data.
create a data structure which will be a combined structure of File1 and File2....target structure should have first reference for File1 and then for FIle2....than having two MTs (File1 and File2) at the source and the target MT at the receiver create your mapping......this will ensure that File1 data occures first and then File2 data.

    Hi Seshagiri,
first problem is to process the files sequentially by XI- Is it posiible to put a sequence number at end of each file as its last line? This number you can process within XI and hold on messages in a container unless all files with lower sequence number has already been processed thus you can also prevent receiver SNC system to receive files out of order. The sequence number has to be put before posting the file in XI.

this is the list of the files sorted alphabetically but also is the list sorted by creation time (each filename (after yyy_C) contains a timestamp and also a date).
The file proxy is configured as belows:
Service Type : Any XML Service
    Protocol : file
    Endpoint URI : file:///tmp/osb/msg
    Get All Headers : No
    File Mask : yyy*.xml
    Polling Interval: 30
    Read Limit : 0
    Sort By Arrival : true
    Scan SubDirectories: false
    Pass By Reference : false
    Post Read Action : archive
    Stage Directory : /tmp/osb/stage
    Archive Directory : /tmp/osb/archive
    Error Directory : /tmp/osb/error
    Request encoding : utf-8
    Content Streaming : Disabled
I used "Sort By Arrival : true" because from doc (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/httppollertransport/index.html) I read:
"This parameter indicates the sequence of events raised in the order of the arrival of files. The default value for this parameter is False"
It is not clear if 'order of the arrival' means by time of the arrival or by 'alphabetical order'.
I did a test using the above settings but I see from OSB log file that the files are processed neither by time order nor by alphabetical order:

How could I process files sequentially ?
I think using also Read Limit = 1 and Polling Interval = 1 sec doesn't work, because
    - if the proxy instance P1 reading file A takes more than 1 sec
    - after 1 sec a second proxy instance P2 starts to process file B
    - but P2 can completes its processing before P1 ...
What do you suggest to do ?
    Thanks in advance

Do you know if OSB when polling a file, takes it only when OSB recognizes the file has been written completely ?
I mean what happens if OSB wakes up while the file producer is still writing the file ?

    Hi,
undo tablespace UNDOTBS1 datafile 'D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\oradata\ORACLE5 \datafile\undotbs1.dbf' size 10m autoextend on maxsize unlimited
After ORACLE5 there is a space character. Typo? Create proper directory or delete this character.

Is is still a not enough space problem? i think you have specified 1050m for users01.dbf file, your file system /sisdev04 has something like
1.5gb of free space. it failed because of lack of free space. may be you can reduce your datafile size or try to
    create in another filesystem.

  • Issue while archiving the processed file in sender communication channel using SFTP adapter

    Hi All,
In one of my scenario (File to IDOC), we are using SFTP sender communicationchannel.
we are facing an issue while archiving the processed file. Some times PI processed the file successfully but unable to archive it and in the next poll PI process & archives the same file successfully which will creates duplicate orders in ECC.
Please let us know how to resolve this issue.

I tried this match pattern also, with this i am facing two problems first, it is detecting only for one time whereas in my file i am having multiple comments, and it is detecting only the first comment it sees and second issue is that it is just separating the backslash from the string and i want to separate the whole string with backslash. May be i am not using it properly

  • TS3297 Hi I was down loading IOS 6 to my iPhone through I tunes got as far as processing file and the error message of error 5000 came up and said I would loose everything off my iPhone if I proceeded. I managed to down load for iPad fine. I have an iPhon

Just a beginner here first log in. Question is what do I do if I get an error message 5000 iF you progress you loose every thing - was trying to download IOS 6 onto my iPhone 4 and got to the very end when it ways processing file. Thank you

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • Attempt to process file failed with Exception in XML Parser-format problem

    Hi all,
Iam getting an unusual error in the J2EE stack in XI.
    And the message is:

My scenerio iam posting IDOC to a flat file with content conversion in the receiver side, the mapping got executed successfully and in the audit log i found that the error was after the 'Start converting XML document content to plain text'.
This means that error occured during content conversion of XML to the prescribed file format.
Can anyone suggest any better approach using which we may trace the junk data in IDoc. Manual adhoc approach could take time and is error prone.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi Bhavesh,
Thanks for the early reply. I checked the mapping and everything is fine and the output is also in valid XML format.
The audit log shows that the mapping got executed successfully and the error is after the step 'Start converting XML document content to plain text '. Is there any constraint in the file adapter regarding the message size for parsing.
