Process Flow Validation Warning.

Hi All,
OWB Config Details is as follows:
Oracle 9i Warehouse Builder Client: 9.2.0.2.8
Oracle 9i Warehouse Builder Repository: 9.2.0.2.0
1> Following Warning is displayed when Process Flow is validated in Process Editor in OWB.
VLD-10005: The following path in the process flow is a loop and may cause the process to loop infinitely,
START->EXT_SHELL_SCRIPT->M_STG_GRADE_OF_SERVICE->EMAIL_ERROR->UPDATE_MAP_PROCESS_ERROR->
2> A mapping is developed in OWB with some default configuration parameters e.g. In a mapping involves Source Text File as Source and Staging Table as Target.
Readsize and Bindsize config parameters are set to 5000 respectively. I included the same mapping in process flow as mapping. The above mentioned Config Parameters are modified to 5242880. I committed the changes & synchornized in the process flow editor. I was expecting the modified config parameter will be displayed in the process flow editor. However I found that it still displays old config parameters and not modified config parameters. Is this expected or Did i miss some steps ?
Can someone please let me know more on these issues?

  • OWB 9.2.0.4 Process Flows Validation and Export

    Hi
I'm trying to export my OWB 9.2.0.4 repository into one mdl file in order to upgrade to OWB 10.2.0.4.
I have problems with exporting many of my Process Flow Packages but not all.
    Here is one example:
    Process Flows
    Process Module (Davia)
    Process Flow Package (DATAFLYT)
    Process (DATAFLYT_AF_EDW_STAGE_OG_EDW)
I can validate at the Process level (DATAFLYT_AF_EDW_STAGE_OG_EDW) with Success.
I can validate at the Process Flow Package level (DATAFLYT) with Success.
When i Validate at the Process Module level (Davia), I get the following Validation error in the first Window:
"VLD-10008: Process flow DATAFLYT_AF_EDW_STAGE_OG_EDW does not have a location associated with it."
When looking in the "View Details" I get the following messaage:
"VLD-10008: DATAFLYT_AF_EDW_STAGE_OG_EDW's owning process flow installed module DAVIA does not have a location associated with it."
When looking in the "Message Editor" I get this message:
    "NAME","STATUS","MESSAGE TYPE","MESSAGE","DETAILS"
"DATAFLYT (Process Flow Package)","Valid","SucMsgKey","VLD-0001: Validation completed successfully.","Validation completed successfully."
    "DATAFLYT_AF_EDW_STAGE_OG_EDW (Process)","Valid","SucMsgKey","VLD-0001: Validation completed successfully.","Validation completed successfully."
In Deployment manager the column Location has the value "OWF_PRODUKTION" for all Objects.
I can Deploy the Process Flow Package (DATAFLYT) with Success.
I can make an Export to MDL when I stand at Process Flow Package (DATAFLYT) level.
End Result: Everything seems to work at the Process Flow Package level but not when Exporting at the Process Module level (Davia).

i am not 100 sure but what works in OWB 9.2.0.4 might not work in OWB 10.2.0.4 in the same manner. There have been lot of changes between these versions so i am not very sure about compatibilty from 9.2 to 10.2, If you have exported your mapping and other stuff then without wasting too much time it is probably easier to re-create the process flows manually. This failure might be because some of the components/objects used in process flow of ver 9.2 might not be compatible with 10.2 or hvae been enhanced to work differently.

  • Process flow: validation error: VLD-10010

OWB 10.2 process flow: I simply put a mapping in a process flow between the START and END activity and want to validate it.
    But I get the error:
"VLD-10010: MAP_TEMP_POS's bound object null of type null?? has been deleted."
The mapping itself is alread deployed and the error is the same with other mappings.
Workflow is installed and owf_mgr user is registered as data warehouse target schema.
    What can I try?

    Problem solved.
Mappings should be dragged vom Explorer: "Available Objects"
    into Process flow.

Re your first question, you are probably hitting a bug (3035080) that makes OWB generate false warnings. Please ignore the warnings and try to deploy and run the process flow.
As for your second question - I cannot reproduce this on 9.2.0.2.8. The configuration properties are updated corectly in the SQLLOADER map and I get the same values in the process flow. By the way, why are you not using external tables instead of the SQLLoader maps?

  • To check whether a process flow is valid or not

    Hi,
I want to check whether a OWB process flow is valid or not inside a PL/SQL block. Can anyone let me know about any repository table or view where I can check the process flow status.
    Regards,
    Poulose

Use display schedule job option from the context menu of the start variant of the process chain.
When u chick this.. u will get the available job on this start process.. There u can see whether the process chain in schedule mode or not?
If u can see multiple schedule then u can delete the older ones which are not needed and then u can maintain only one schedule job.
If u click twice.. then there are chances that u might end up with the 2 schedule job with the same time frame.. .. so check the same with the steps mentioned..... if u find two jobs then u need to delete one.. if not there might be chance that ur PC might get trigger twice.. and one trigger will gets failed. and the other one will gets executed..
    Thanks
I hope this is clear to u..

  • Warning while deploying Process Flow

    Hi All,
When I try to deploy my process flow it give me following warning:
PRE-02212: Database link 'WB_LK_HD_PK' is a 'Fixed Name'. This could consider a security risk as it exposes username and password of the target user.
PRE-02213: Database name 'WB_LK_HD_PK' is deployed with a name which is not a global name compatible bacause the source and target instances have identical global names. You should ask your DBA to rename the target database and redeply it.
Did any body face similar problem before? What should I do to resolve this. It is working on my laptop and not on the development machine.
    Regards,
    Danish

    Hi Danish,
It is an Oracle Database parameter your DBA can change in the spfile, or you can change yourself with Toad for example.
    Parameter : GLOBAL_NAMES = TRUE or FALSE
If you choose TRUE, your DBLinks must have the same name as your database
If you choose FALSE, you can name your DBlink as you like

After synchronizing the mapping to itself, this error goes off, but synchroinzing in GUI for more than 300 mapping is huge task.

I have created a simple process flow which only calls the external process. The script is on the same host as the process flow is deployed to.
I have used two diffent values for the command parameter.
    1. I placed the full path of the file in the command parameter and left the script parameter blank:

    PARAMETER_LIST:

    COMMAND: /usr/bin/sh

    SUCCESS_THRESHOLD: 0
    SCRIPT: /edwftp/ppas/scripts/ClearPPAS.sh
Both of these appear to work as they print out the statements inside the script but the files that are supposed to be removed still remain.

  • Process Flow branches to Error, displays success in RAB

    Hello,
I am calling a custom function from within a process flow in OWB. This function is performing some basic, customized validations after the mappings execute within the process flow. Depending on the result of the validation function, I want the process flow to branch to either Success, Warning, or Failure. The process flow is branching correctly based on the return code from the function. I can verify this from WorkFlow Manager. However, when I look at the execution of the process flow in the Runtime Audit Browser (RAB) it shows that the process flow completed successfully, regardless of what state it branched to. I would like for the process flow to be marked as either a warning or error in RAB, so that I can quickly identify what process flows failed the validation check perfomed by my function. How can I make RAB display these indicators? I'm running OWB repository version 9.2.02.0.
    Thanks,
    Justin

    Mark,
    Thanks for the reply.
In my process flow I have included all three ending activities. I have also checked that the correct condition is placed on the transition to the activity (i.e. on Error condition, branch to End Error) The process flow is following the correct branch depending on the code returned from my function. (Workflow Manager confirmed this for me) Regardless of the End condition, RAB indicates that the process flow completed successfully. When it ended in an error, I would have expected RAB to display the usual red 'X' by the process flow but it is not.
    Thanks,
    Justin

  • OWB Client: 10.2.0.1.31, Server  10.2.0.1.0 Process Flow Route activity err

    Hi,
I have a simple process flow calling other process flows with the ROUTE activity. My PF validates fine with 3 out transitions (complex expressions) and 1 Transition to End Activity. I'm trying to add new out Transition based on complex expression I'm getting the validation warning.
PF_START     WarMsgKey     VLD-10007: Activity ROUTE has outgoing transitions with duplicate conditions defined, thus making the process flow ambiguous.
VLD-10007: Activity ROUTE has outgoing transitions with duplicate conditions defined, thus making the process flow ambiguous. The only allowed conditions are "SUCCESS", "WARNING", "ERROR", "UNCONDITIONAL", and the transitions on any activity are always evaluated in this order , thus having duplicate transition conditions will make the flow invalidate the process flow.
I verified route transitions and all the 4 conditions are different. Does anyone has had the same problem.
    Thanks

    Hi Nawneet ,
Thx for ur suggestion. I can't use fork since I need to conditionally execute PFs based on my input.
I did the following to achieve the result.
    Start -> Route
    variable = 1 Transition to PF 1 -- End Success/Failure
    Variable = 2 Transition EXECUTE pf 2 -- End Success/Failure
    Variable=3 Transition execute PF 3 -- End Success/Failure
    Default Transition to End Success
    Default Transition to ROUTE 2
    variable = 4 Transition Execute PF4 -- End Success/Failure
Default Transition from ROUTE 2 -- End Success/Failure
    Thanks

  • Experts VS Process Flows on OWB 10g Release 2 (Paris)

I was looking at the the new features list for OWB 10g Release 2 (Paris), and I notices the new feature called Experts. Does anyone have any insight into when an Expert would be used instead of a Process Flow? It doesn't look like Process Flows are going away, so I was trying to get a grasp of the use for Experts.
    From Here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/htdocs/owb10gr2%20new%20features.htm
Experts. Experts are solutions that enable advanced users to design solutions that simplify routine or complex tasks that end users perform in Warehouse Builder. You can design these solutions in the Expert Editor which resembles the Process Flow Editor and shares many of the same commands and navigational tools.

    Hi,
Just to start with the Experts capabilities, they can be used for designing schema objects.......I tried with an expert for sampling the source files, creating External Tables on top of it....validating and deploying..........itz very interesting to work with.........I am unable to see the practical use of this for end users.....
where as we all know, the PF can only be for executing the deployed objects.....

I am facing below error while importing process flow mdls in OWB 11.2.0.3:
      ERROR
Informational: MDL1328: PROJECT MTH not imported since the object in MDL file
is the same as the object in the workspace.
      Error at line 11: MDL1261: Error importing PROCESS_FLOW_MODULE MTH.MTH_PF.
      Detailed Error Message:
MDL1409: Cannot import PROCESS_FLOW_MODULE with physical name <MTH_PF>
because a PROCESS_FLOW_MODULE <MTH_PF> with the same physical name already
      exists.
Can someone please let me know on how this can be resolved.
    Thanks in Advance.

the first information warning message is ok, the 2nd ones should be gone if you use the replace mode
    OMBIMPORT FROM MDL_FILE 'pfm_mod.mdl' USE REPLACE_MODE  MATCH_BY NAMES
let me know if that fix it

  • Data Type for Process Flow... PB with Date?

I've got a problem by passing parameters in process flow.
I have a mapping with a parameter DATE_EXEC (data type : DATE) and a default value that is TO_DATE('20/01/2007' , 'dd/mm/yyyy') . My mapping is working good when i launch it.
I have a process flow which contains the mapping. This process has a parameter DATE_EXEC (data type : DATE). I bind the 2 DATE_EXEC. But when i launch my mapping the value is not recognized, I try with :
    - TO_DATE('20/01/2007' , 'dd/mm/yyyy')
    - 20/01/2007
    - 2007.01.20
    - 2007-01-20
My question is what are the data type in process flow? They are not ORACLE TYPE.
For example , a parameter in a mapping which is a VARCHAR2 must be input between quotes but if you bind it to a parameter of a process flow which is a STRING (not ORACLE Data type) , you must input it without quotes?
Anybody has some rules about that?
I apologize for my english, i'm a french people.

Here is some information on the literal quote or not quote query and what I think you need to do at the end, hope it helps. Not exactly intuitive...since the flow designer (you) have to know what is a PLSQL object and what is not.
    1. Literal = FALSE
When Literal = FALSE is set then the value entered must be a valid PL/SQL expression which is evaluated at the Control Center e.g.
    'Hello World!'
    22 / 7
    2. Literal = TRUE
When Literal = TRUE then the value is dependent on the the type of Activity. If the activity is a PL/SQL object i.e. Mapping or Transformation, then the value is PL/SQL snippet. The critical difference here is that the value is macro substituted into the call for the object. The format of the value is identical to that entered as default value in the Mapping editor. e.g.
    'Hello World!'
    sysdate()
If the activity type is not a PL/SQL object then the value is language independent. e.g.
    Hello World
    3.1427571
    What you should try......
Check the map activity parameter in your process flow to see if literal is false (an expression), set it to false and then try using your TO_DATE('20/01/2007' , 'dd/mm/yyyy') expression, deploy your flow and execute. Alternatively the user guide defines the DATE type for flow with the format YYYY-MM-DD so you can have the parameter value as '2007-01-20' use literal equal to true and remember and quote your value.
    Cheers

  • Process flow execute "complete" in Runtime Audit Browser but it hangs

I create a process flow that contain 4 sub-process flow, each sub-process flow contains several mapping. Each mapping in the process flow will be executed one by one if previous mapping execute successfully. If any error or warning, it will be ended with "End_Error" or "End_Warning". And I deploy the process flow to the workflow server successfully.
Sometimes the process will hang in some certain mapping when execute the process flow. After long time waiting, the status of process flow execution in Audit Browser will be "Complete", but in fact, the sub-porcess ended with that mapping and the next mappings will not be execute. This can be monitored in the Audit browser, as if the whole process "break" at that mapping.
In workflow monitor, I found the workflow has not complete yet. The status of that mapping node is "Notified", not "complete". So I have to abort the workflow in the monitor.
Sometimes when I try again it will be ok. If I deploy the process to another instance that in dw instance, it will also be ok. The dw instance use owb recommend parameters when we install db instance. All the mapping use the default parameters except "Default operation mode", here we use "row based".
Can somebody give me some hint?
    Thanks.
    OWB 10g rel 1, db: 10g rel2, workflow: 2.6.4

    Hi Naidu
Yes you are absolutely right. When you press the cancel button in the GUI, the runtime repository does not get the signal that he is been asked to stop and abort. The GUI cancels himself but the background oracle process is still on !!!. The only way to do is to kill the oracle session. Another way I tried to tackle is
go to the directiry OWB/10.1/owb/rtp/sql and run the file @list_request.sql in sqlplus. Note that you have to login as runtime repositiry owner. After you get the audit id, run the file abort_exec_request.sql and supply the audit id that you obtained by running list_requests.sql. Sometimes it does not work also . Hence the best method is to kill the process
