Process for Sharpe images

Hi,
I have read through the forums and followed a lot of the suggestions. But I still find images appear out of focus once placed into Muse. My current workflow is creating the image in illustrator (if vector, most of mine are), save for web at right size. Place into Muse. For some unexplained reason, some graphics look great and others look out of focus? Even though I use the same workflow?
Can anyone suggest a solid workflow for rendering vector images for the use in muse.
Thanks in advance

Turn off the Convert Opaque PNG Images to JPEG option in Site Properties.
By default Muse will convert an opaque PNG image to JPEG to produce a generally much smaller image (and thus faster page load times). This works well if the original image is photographic in nature, but doesn't work as well for computer generated illustrations or other line art since JPEG compression introduces noise and softens such images.

  • Process for replacing images

I would like to get our opinion on how I am working when replacing images.
The help-project has not been updated since it first was generated but much has been done to the system. So there are a lot of images to replace but I have very limited time and the customer want as much as possible to be done. This means that I have to do some things in a way that might not be the best way but is the fastest. But I don’t want to work in a way that we later regret because it causes some problem that I haven’t realized yet. I don’t have much knowledge of the updates of the system or of the RoboHelp-project (what is described in the help, where in the help is it described).
I capture the image with IrfanWiew.
I delete the old image in the Design Editor. (I’m aware that the image is not removed from the project but I will deal with this later.)
I paste the image in the Design Editor. (I find this the fastest way to get the new pictures where they should go.)
When I have finished replacing images I create a folder and drag the images there (either in RoboHelp or in Windows Explorer).  The old images are in a separate folder but I don’t want the new images in the same folder because it might be some name conflicts.
I remove unused images by looking at the report Unused Files.
Is this an ok way to work?

If you are replacing one image with another, you could could save them with the same file name and in the same location. Your project should then pick it up. However there is a proviso that the old and new images are exactly the same size. If they are not, you may have to reset the image size inside the Design Editor for each image.
If you use your workflow, I would not paste the image in. Whilst this is acceptable, you'll end up with image file names that bear no resemblance to the image (e.g. image001.png, image002.png, etc.) which may create future difficulties. Also ensure you drag your images from INSIDE your project. If you do this in Windows, your project will be unaware you have moved them and report them as broken links.

  • Error in Branch Processing for Document Image

    Hello,
I had some assistance on a previous Thread named: Document Image. I got some great feed back and help implementing an Document Image instead of the normal Download link. My question is that for the Document Library OBE Example item Name is required so the Type image will always appear. My Type is not required and an image is defaulted even if not Browse/Created when viewing IR. There is a default document image for Type and once it is clicked an error message appears.
    ORA-22275: invalid LOB locator specified
Error ERR-1009 Error in branch processing. How do I only populate the Type Image if Browse/Create occurs? Here is the code that makes the images appear based on Document Type.

    Charles,
I mentioned the solution in my previous post and said that you could use a case statement not to display the download link when there is no filename:
    SELECT CASE
              WHEN filename IS NOT NULL
                 THEN    '<a href=#><img src='
                      || DECODE
                               (mimetype,
                                'application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text', '#APP_IMAGES#icodt.gif',
                                'application/vnd.ms-excel', '#APP_IMAGES#ICXLS.gif',
                                'application/msword', '#APP_IMAGES#ICDOC.gif',
                                'application/pdf', '#APP_IMAGES#icpdf.gif',
                                'application/vnd.ms-powerpoint', '#APP_IMAGES#ICPPT.gif',
                                'application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet', '#APP_IMAGES#iccalc.gif',
                                'application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation', '#APP_IMAGES#icodp.gif',

                                'application/x-zip-compressed', '#APP_IMAGES#ICZIP.gif',
                                '#APP_IMAGES#ICGEN2.gif'
                      || ' width=20 height=20 border=0 /></a>'
              ELSE NULL
           END TYPE,
           filename, employee_id, first_name, last_name, email,

  • How do use the same crop for multiple images.

I have a number of images that I want to use the same crop on. Instead of go through the whole slow process for each image is there a way to use the same crop for all of the images?
And in iPhoto there was a way to copy the adjustment settings to multiple images, I can't see how to do that in aperture.

    Use the "Lift&Stamp" tool:
    Crop one image.
Lift the crop using the "Lift" tool.
    Select the other images.
Stamp the crop adjustment to all of them.
But caution: By default "Lift" will copy all Metadata tags and all adjustments, but the gps data. If you only want to transfer the cropping rectangle, deselect all lifted items but the crop adjustment before stamping.

  • Which aperture setting takes sharper images. f/8 or f/11?

I have t2i (550D) and two lenses i.e. 18-55 mm and 55-250 mm. Any idea how to take sharper images of landscape by selecting a particular aperture setting? I read on a different forum that for sharper images f/8 or f/11 are the ideal settings. Any suggestions?

Seems this topic is having many hits so let me give some more info that might be useful to all:
When you need to know real detail analysis of a lens, there is no better place to check than:
    PhotoZone
Specific to your question are the 2 links below. Just scroll down to MTF  or Modulation Transfer Function  also known as spatial frequency response (Way sharpness is measured objectively) That let you know exactly what you wanted to know about the sharpness.
    Link to EF-S 18-55mm IS
    Link to EF-S 55-250mm
The site should be very useful for any one eager to know specifically a detail about any lens so enjoy.

  • Processing several images in a batch action to apply their individual auto camera raw auto setings individualy for each image selected.

    Hi,
I have a folder with several images that I want to apply Camera Raw auto settings to all of then according to their individual parameters.
When you open a single file in Camera Raw you can click on the "auto" option to make an start point correction for that image.
I want to select all images in a folder and apply this procedure to every selected file without having to open every file individually and clicking in the auto option.
Can this be done from Bridge CC 6.1.0.116?
Appreciate comments on the viability of this task

    kbarre wrote:
Auto Sync is functioning as expected, unless I choose Auto Tone first.
If I choose Auto Tone first, a small portion of the selected images will be updated, but most will not.
Lightroom's handling of auto-tone leaves something to be desired - I have a lot of experience with it, trying to make reliable develop-setting plugins which include auto-toning. Those plugins have a bewildering amount of logic - something like this: initiate auto-toning, check back to see if it has properly settled, issue the auto-toning again if it never seems to be properly settling... - usually it works out after a while, but even sometimes it never does, and generates an error: can't get auto-toning to settle across all photos.
The point of all this is that there are bugs in Lr's handling of auto-toning, as you are growing aware.
    Try this:
    * do the auto-toning, then let it percolate for a while.
    * then visit each photo at 1:1 (to force Lr to finalize settings...), and confirm auto-toning has settled...
Then try auto-syncing that preset (make sure process versions are all the same, and preset does NOT include auto-toning - I would leave process version OUT of your presets).
    Better?
I don't expect this is a workflow you'll want to do all the time, but as a test it might help shed some light on the problem.

    Good morning.
I would like to know how I can export a whole process for a single image. Is it possible? With that I can print of the way that goes better.

    Hi Raghavendra,
Thanks for answering my query. I have created a transport request and exported the folder I need to take backup of. But when I tried testing import of the same request I am getting following error. Do you have any idea what is the cause of this error?

  • Best practice for increasing image processing speed

Are there best practises for efficient image processing so that the overall perfomance speed will be improved? I have a need to do near real time image processing (threshold, filtering, particle analysis/cleaning and measurements) at 10fps. So far I am not satisfied with my cycle time so I am wondering if there are documented ways to speed up performance.
    Solved!

    Hi,
Navigates to the "Vision and Motion" palette, then "Vision Utilities" and "Image Management" palette, you will find ther the "IMAQ multi-core options" vi.
You will be able to set or get the number of cores used by the IMAQ functions.

  • Af:commandImageLink not processing the aboulite path for displaying image

    All,
We are required to display an image in the UI. The image is not stored in the deployed ear file. It is stored in the "*<DOMAIN_HOME>\Inventory\images*".
    Where DOMAIN_HOME=D:\JUPITER_CORONA\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60\DefaultDomain\inventory
I would process an image absolute path in the af:commandImageLink tag as follows,
    *<af:commandImageLink "icon=file://D:/JUPITER_CORONA/system11.1.1.3.37.56.60/DefaultDomain/inventory/images/equipment.png" text"equipment" shotdesc="icon" />*
The problem is that the above tag is not processing the above mentioned absolute path and displaying text "icon" instead of actual icon image. As per the ADF documentation the tag processes absolute path as well.
Can someone suggest as to where I am going missing.
    regards,
    Chandra

I was not able to get what you want very well, the situation is a little bit un-usual,
but for solution I suggest the below way.
write a servlet/JSP that return the image (it is like copying the file, read the image from absolute path and send it to the OUTPUTSTREAM of the response aslo remember the MIME and the write filter for the jsp/servlet that end with .jpg or any extension for the image.)
then in the jsf page write the below code.
    <af:commandImageLink icon="/jspOrservlerpath/servlet/filename.jpg" text"equipment" shotdesc="icon" />
your servlet (get the filename.jpg and then find the file and return it)
this solution is very common for cases that the file is not available physically such as when you want to read it from another place(your case) or database.
    I hope this help you.
I can send you the source for the servlet/jsp if you want.

  • Batch processing with an image overlay

Is it possible to do batch processing with an image overlay in FW CS4?
I'm trying to resize several hundred images and place rounded corners on them.
If this cannot be done in FW, does anyone know of another program that could accomplish this?

    Hi Marje,
It's possible to include both resizing and image overlay in a custom Fireworks command that can be used in batch processing.  To get started, you could check out this tutorial that deals with the first step.
That article describes how to perform image resize and overlay (in that case, a watermark), and then how to record the steps and turn them into a custom command that can be later used in batch processing.
Once you saved the custom command, click File >> Batch Process, and follow the steps below:
In the first window, select the images you want to process.
On the next screen, open the Commands dropdown menu and select the custom command you created (it'll probably be on the bottom of the list), and click the Add button to include it in the batch process list.
Finally, on the next screen select the location of the processed files, and optionally save the batch script for later use.
    Good luck!

  • Edit capture time doesn't work for multiple images

Hi all, hope you can help me.
I'm trying to edit capture time for multiple images. I select the images using the grid view, and go to Metadata>Edit Capture Time>Adjust to Specified Date and Time, enter the time, and select "change all." However, it seems that some, or perhaps most of the images don't actually have a new Date Created when this process is done.
I thought perhaps I needed to select 'write metadata to files', but the Date Created seems to revert back prior to writing to the file, or indeed, it doesn't actually change in the first place.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    J

  • Linked Images : Automatic Folder Creation for linked images?

    Best Rgards
    Mac OSX 10.9.3
    InDesign CC (9.2.1)
Presently: 120 page Blurb publishing with 190 images
I have created a large number of INDD documents that I piece together from many sources,
such as file folders, internet searches, external drives, emails...kind of grabbing things
from all over the place. usually I publish this as a PDF for local and archival use. Sometimes
using this also for newsletters and other ways to distribute documents as pdf and epub.
I never really paid to much attention to LINKED FILES and where they might
be located, as my intent was PDF and you can publish a very
serviceable Pdf without verifying or correcting MISSING LINKS...
NOW, I am working on a higher end 120 page Photo BOOK to have printed on paper.
I did not organise my image assets into a folder, i should have first. Now as I go to
upload to the publisher I find I have to many missing links to images. So I am going
back through the whole project and organising the assets and re-linking...what a lot of work this is.
I was wondering if InDesign supports automatic creation of assets folder?
As you place images, with their links, the program creates a folder and puts a copy of the file there?
I don't see anything about this subject.
I am wondering why not? It would sure make the work flow speed up. Options for
the format, size, pip etc. Does this exist in InDesign and if not
    wtf not?
Sure would appreciate anyone's thoughts on this. It is to late now to save this
relinking 190 images, but I realise I need to be better prepared with my assets in the
future. I work on a number of publications, some spontaneously and others
more carefully planned...some sort of auto process for asset-linked-folders
seems a simple enough coding issue. It is 2014 already.
???....best rgards, Thanks for any input on this issue.

Thanks to everyone for these answers. I guess the real answer is "no", Adobe software engineers see no reason to create a script which
will place linked files into a folder. To bad. A really serious and lazy oversight in my view. The package function is helpful if one has already
    organised their assetts.
As great as these programs are, this is an oversight of some frustration. As I said in my comments above, it seems an easy enough routine to program
into the app. Why should a user have to worry about collecting details of resources/links for a document?
    Even after all these years?
Best regards, thanks to everyone who contributed some thoughts.

  • Set the compression quality for individual images for exporting a PDF?

When are export a PDF in ID, you are given an option to downsample and compress images. My problem is, I want to compress some images more than others. For example, a photo in the document could be downsampled much more than a png logo. Of course I could go and pre-downsample each image to the right size in photoshop, but that can get kind of involved. Is there a way I could at least exclude one particular image from the compression process?

Well, I didn't find any way to do this in ID, but I do believe its a useful thing to do. In Fact, by doing some careful image-dependent compression, I was able to reduce the size of my pdf by half and have the result still look better than a standard uniform compression. What I did was:
first place all the images in the ID file, size and position them as they should be
then, looking at the rulers, note the horizontal size, in inches, of each image in the document
begin with the first image, open it in photoshop. If you want this image at 200dpi, for example, multiply the horizontal size (from ID) by 200. Change the image size in photoshop to this number.
save the image in photoshop as a jpg and compress as appropriate for the image type
go back to ID, open up the links window, select the image you just changed, and click the update link button
do this with all your images
when you go to export a pdf, don't do any compression or downsampling on the images.. they're already optimised
So as you can see you have to have some idea of the ideal target DPI and compression of each image in your document, and it may require some experimenting. But if you know that some images can be lowered much more than others, I recommend this method. As I said, in my case I was able to reduce the file size by half without negatively effecting the pdf appearance.

  • GPS Metadata for Managed Images Bug

Alright this is really dumb. Aperture strips the GPS metadata for managed images on a version export, but does not for referenced files.
It just took me 4 hours to figure that out, ug. Metadata is sacred! Always preserve it.

My Aperture library uses managed masters.
I too discovered that if I performed *version exports* of geotagged masters the exported images did not retain the GPS data. The problem was the same regardless of whether the masters were .jpgs or RAW files. (Geotagging was performed with Maperture and Maperture Pro; the bug symptoms are the same regardless of which tool was used.)
Additionally, I discovered that if I performed *master exports*, then not only were the geotags retained in the exported files, but that +reimporting those same exports resulted in new masters whose versions would subsequently retain their geotags on version export+.

If you Relocate Masters... BEFORE you add GPS metadata using Maperture you don't lose any IPTC metadata. If you then Consolidate Masters... you can then apply GPS metadata to these images within your Aperture library and you will not lose IPTC or the GPS data on exporting the versions.
If I'm reading this correctly it sounds like you can "scrub" your library of the problem by relocating masters and then consolidating them again, and that subsequently applied geotags (and by inference IPTC metadata) will be retained on new version exports. Did I get that right?
However if you already have loads of images in your Aperture library that you have added GPS data to with Maperture and you also have loads of IPTC metadata on them and adjustments what do you do?
I did a backup of the library at this point to a vault. I then restored the vault and GPS data and IPTC metadata was all retained and was also all retained on exporting versions!
And if I'm reading the last sentence of your post correctly, it seems like the consistent behavior between our two situations is that if *images are brought into the library with geotags already in them* - in your case by library restoration and in my case by re-importation of previously geotagged masters - *then the geotags will be retained on subsequent master and version exports*.
Is that a valid conclusion to draw? If so, it sounds like I could workaround the problem of geotags missing from my version exports by either A) relocating and then consolidating my masters, or B) by the three-step process of:
    1) geotagging my images,
    2) updating the vault, and then
    3) restoring my library from the vault.
