Process loss in Discrete mfg.
Hi experts,
My Input material (raw material) for a product is 40g and the out put (Finished product) weight is 20g. where we will show the material loss in discrete mfg. MTO Or MTS manufacturing scenario.
Hi,
There are two parts in scrap posting:
1) Inventory
2) Costing
If there is no physical scrap generation or no inventory recording of scrap is required as well as there is no cost credit of scrap material is involved then you can simply maintain BOM data as 4 kg of SFG for 2 kg of FG. So, if backflush is activated then during confirmation of 2 kg FG as yield system will issue 4 kg of SFG.
If inventory of scrap material needs to be recorded or cost credit of scrap material to FG production is required then you need to:
Step 1) Apart from SFG maintain material master data for scrap material (not sure backflush require or not)
Step 2) Along with SFG component maintain scrap material as component for FG BOM but with -ve quantity (i.e. - 2 kg of scrap material for 2 kg of FG)
As scrap material is maintained as component in FG BOM, system will add one row for scrap material receipt in Goods Movement list during confirmation. And system will also credit cost of scrap material to production/process order (debit SFG component cost).
Try this and if require get back with your query.
Bye for now,
Devang

Hi,
I want to know Wat is the basic difference between Process mfg and Discrete Mfg. ?
thanks in advancehi namitha,
in both case prodcution is carried out as per production quantity
process industry has master data as follows
1. material master
2. bill of material
3. resource
4. master recipe
there is one more functionality in SAP PP PI is Process instruction sheet,
transaction data
1process order
and for descrite manufacturing
master data is as follows
1. material master
2. bill of material
3. work center
4. routing
transaction data
1 production order -
Process Manufacturing Vs Discrete Manufacturing
Dear All,
I am new to Oracle Applications, it will be very helpful if anyone can guide me on what are the conditions need to be looked at when selecting one of the above two manufacturing with relation to an Automotive spare parts manufacturing company or can i maintain both the process?.
Regards
NareshDear Pavan,
Thanx for responding to my query.
i am completely knew to oracle apps, so my question may be a stupid questio, lets say i have assembly line as well as painting line as in any manufracturing unit, can i implement discrete for assembly line and process for painting line?
Second question : What advantage i would get if i go for discrete mfg for batch products and what would be the bottelnecks if i opt for process? and viceversa
Once again thanks for responding.

What is Discrete Mfg and MTO,MTS
Hi Gurus,
Can any one tell What is discrete mfg. And what is MTO and MTS in Discrete Mfg.
Thanks
KevinDiscrete Manufacturing pertains to industry which frequently switches the manufactured products for eg: Speciality Electrical products, Heavy engineering products(Pressure vessels, Fermentors etc), Computer assembly etc. So every product you make in discrete manufacturing industry will have different components, work centers, routings etc. This is in contrast to repetitive / process industry where the product configuration and process remain fairly constant over a period of time.
MTO (Make to Order):
In make-to-order production (strategy 20), every sales order is planned individually and managed in its own segment in the MRP list or the current stock/requirements list.
The system does not perform a net requirements calculation between individual sales orders or with the anonymous warehouse stock.
The lot-for-lot order quantity is used as the default setting for the lot-sizing procedure, regardless of the entry you have made in the material master record. You define the lot-sizing procedure for make-to-order production in Customizing for MRP in the workstep "Checking the lot-sizing procedure" in the field "Lot-size calculation for MTO production". Depending on the setting of the lot-size indicator in the material master record, you can define a different lot size for make-to-order production from the one used in make-to-stock production.
MTO (Make to Stock):
The demand program is defined without reference to sales orders.
Sales orders are not relevant to MRP, but can be displayed for information purposes. You make this setting in the "No MRP" field in Customizing for the appropriate requirements class (workstep, "Defining Requirements Classes" in Customizing for SD).
Sales orders are covered by warehouse stock. In Sales and Distribution, you can carry out the availability check according to ATP logic. Material withdrawals for a sales order reduce this sales order's quantity.
The consumption of the demand program (that is of the planned independent requirements) is carried out at goods issue (the indicator "PIR reduction" in Customizing of the requirements class 30 must be set if you want to reduce the demand program when delivering to a sales order). The oldest planned independent requirement is reduced first according to the FIFO (first-in-first-out) principle using the requirement date. Future planned independent requirements are also reduced by goods issues, if allowed by the consumption mode and the forward consumption period. -
What is diff between OPM modules, MFG Modules, discrete mfg modules, regular supply chain modules.
As a techi guy I have worked on OM but not able to answer the difference between
please help
ThanksProcess and Discrete industries have some fundamental differences in their product development, materials, production procesess and planning procedures. Process industries need to deal with Variable Ingredients, By & Co-products, UOM are that are Material Specific. Multiple Recipes and Formulas are used to make a single product due to seasonality or plant equipment variations. Process industries need Lot, Grades, Potency, Shelf-life.
Manufacturing is different too...think of industries where materials are blended together like paints, or food products, beverages. Also unique is decomposition...breaking something apart, like a chicken into its components: legs, thighs, breasts etc and be able to track the costs.
The Oracle Process Manufacturing suite is capable of supporting all of these industry requirements. -
In-process inspection in repetitive mfg- Inspection type - 13
Hi there,
Can any one please tell me what is the differrence between the inspection type -03 & 13.
As per my understanding the only diff is that 03 is used in discrete mfg & 13 in repetitive mfg...
what is the other differrence ........??
Regrads
KaushikHello Kaushik,
actually you have already found out that 03 is for descrete and 13 for repetive manufacturing. What is the difference?
03 Descrete Manufacturing : Limited production numbers and can be assigned to a customer order. Example: A computer built with various extras (built to order).
Accordingly inspection plans and inspection points assigned can be configured rather freely.
13 Repetitive Manufacturing: Production lines produce the same product in an unlimited number over a longer period of time. Example: Screws M8 x 40 mm (Mass production). In this case inspection plans need a relation to either time, numbers etc.
I hope that this information answers your question.

Hai experts,
I am working in process industry.I have the process loss in every operation.SO we have to calculate the process loss only.I cant able to count as scrap.
HOw to map this scenario.
Thanks & Regs

Hi Experts,
Please suggest some options to map a scenario of normal process loss v/s actual process loss without going through the scrap field in order confirmation.
Say, i have to make 10 kg of SFG with 1% approved loss i.e. approved output should be 9.9 kg. But i land up with an actual loss of 10%, i.e. i land up with 9 kg. I want the order header to show 10kg when the order is created and the system should be able to record the approved output (of 9.9kg) and actual ouput (9kg) and it should be available for all orders in the form of a report.
Is it possible to address this requirement without going through some development?
RegardsSM,
In COOIS, select 'Order headers' in list.
Excute the report with the desired selection.
In the display the firleds 'Target quantity' is the order quantity, 'Delivered quantity' is the quantity of GR & 'Confirmed quantity' is the quantity of the confirmation.
If any of the field is missing in the layout, you can ceratinly add those with 'Change layout'.
Try it out & revert.
Hope this helps you.

Production Campaign in Discrete MFG
Folks,
I know it is possible to use/run Production Campaign Planning in PP-PI. However, I had a similar requirement to run production at certain work centers on a campaign basis. However, I'm running discrete production & not Process.
Because of the large set-up time involved we need to run set of certain finished products in an ascending sequence & then bring the line down in the exact opposite descending sequence (1ton, 3 ton, 5 ton while bringing it up & 5 ton, 3ton, 1 ton when taking it down). Can this be mapped without a Campaign?
CheersHi Andy,
You can read more about this strategy in SAP help ....(Planning w/ a Planning Material and w/o MTO (63))
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_di46c2/helpdata/EN/a2/4e799a927d11d1800f00c04fadcb73/content.htm.
Apart from this, you will have do developments which will capture the campaign number (not available in standard SAP) against a group of planned orders which you have to choose manually and change dates manually and put in the campaign plan development screen. These planned orders will be the one which are generated for specific sales orders (if MTO) or collective planned order (if MTS).
So you need to generate a campaign number for this group of planned orders and execute and monitor your production against this number.
I hope this will give you thought direction .....you need to think in detail as to how you are going to map the development as you are better aware of your business scenario ..:)

Process Loss in Subcontracting Scenario
Dear all,
In this scenario I am sending 10 kg of mat A 10 kg of Material B to Subcontracting vendor to get a final product of C but in actual process the vendor loss 1 kg of Mat A and 2 kg of material B and final product is of 17 kg .My question is how we can map in SAP ?
Thanking you;
Regards;
Joydeep MukherjeeHi
If this is your standard business process for subcontracting means
create a BOM for the material C -17kg
The components are materail A -10 kg,
material B- 10 kg
This means that for making the material C ,the subcontractor needs MterialA -10KG and MterialB-10kg.
Do your subcontracting process normally.
If this is not your standard business process for subcontracting means (rarely or some times)
Then after completing your goods receipt, go for subsequnt adjustment in the MIGO screen. then enter your wastage and post the document.

How to map sales return process from customer to mfg plant without Depot??
Dear All
we have a Mfg plant (mfg1) & having seven Depot.
regular process of STO DEPOT process
ME21N-Purchase order STO
VL10B - Replenishment delivery
VL02N - PGI
VF01- Proforma invoice
J1IIN - Excise invoice
MIGO - Goods Receipt
J1IG - Excise Capture
VA01 - sale order
VL01N - Out bond Delivery
J1IJ - Excise invoice
VF01 - commercial invoice.
J1IDEPOTSTOCK - RG23D Report.
In Case of rejection the Sales Return is directly delivered from customer to
manufacturing Plant,In this process depot is not directly billed. The transaction is
done between customer to manufacturing plant.our question is how to MAP above scenario in sap
(currently all this activity is done in excel sheet ) please suggest any proper method....
Regards
SachinHi Laksmipati,
Thanks for your reply, however one of my clients requirment is that the returns delivery will be made directly to the mfg plant and not to the depot plant. In this case the excise calculation is going HAYWAYAA......I understand that it will make sense if the returns is 1st made to the depot and then to the mgf plant. The system wont allow me to do a returns with refernece to the invoice since it has been made from the depot to the plant. Also this will create a problem while doing A PGR. I will be grateful if you could comment on the same.
Thanks

Hi Gurus
I m very much new in the world of Oracle Apps implementation. I got a responsibility of implementing discrete Manufacturing module for one of our client.
I m looking for a basic setup plus transactional level guidlines that can help me in implementing the same. i request to all of u to please help me on this. If u guys r having any kind of docs (Specially Planning part) thn please forward it on my mail. its [email protected] .
Looking for a positive response.
Regards ,
SaurabhSoma, it is not clear if your 5 mt. Shell is another product, different from 2 mt. Shell. I hope it is a different product code.
a) work center: is the same work center (machines, people) used for producing the new material ? If so, no need to add a work center (unless some new service or activity is required when you produce 5 mt shell)
b) Routing: if standard values and operations are the same that inthe 2 mt product, so no need to change. Just add the new product in teh material assignment of the routing. If there are structural changes, so you will need to create a new routing, eventually using the new created work center (if necessary) .
LEt me know if I understood your issue.

HCM forms & process loss of information after server roundtrip
Hi all,
We recently updgraded our ECC system to sap abap sapka70018, ADS 7.0 sp19.
Our forms have stopped working, the issue is when the update information button is clicked to display information, all entered information is lost. All forms were updated using sfp_zci_update and the script was updated. fp_pdf_test_00 was executed and the result is a different version than that updated in the scripts. Several notes have been applied.
1. What is the relationship between the form script version and ADS, should it be the same and how to accomplish that task.
2. How to debug and find the user event called by the badi once the button is clicked ( button is embedded on the form and called by javascript)
3. what is a possible solution?
