Process Message Category

Dear Experts,
I need a clarification  How does  Process message  work in PP PI sheet
See as i  know  control recipe is created  when process order is released
For setting point of control recipe destination and instruction category is assigned in  Master Recipe. Control recipe destination has thier addresses and porcess instruction to be generated . Characteristic and thier values are assigned in  process instruction category.
I would like to know that where is process message/ Category in the loop and How does it trigger in PPPI sheet
Can you explain me to get away from this doubt.
Regards,

SAP has some standard Process mesaages.
Each message has a destnation, which is nothing but a BAPI.
So when a Process message is created with relevant inputs. the data is sent to the BAPI when it is sent to the destination.which gets executed and achieves the results intended for.
For example PI_Prod is use for doing a GR (101) for a Process order.
When we create a Process message with PI_PROD category all the relevant details like Order no, Material , qty, units and Storage location are neeed.then when you send it. The GR is posted.
.it is used for posting relevant changs from XMII or external systems.

  • Max number of chars in process message MSEL?

Hi, what is the max number of characteristics can be used in process message category's MSEL table? Right now, I am using more than 99 characteristics and I get a short dump DYNPRO_FIELD_CONVERSION. Is it really limited to 99 characteristics and if it is true, is there an OSS note to change it to allow more than 99?
    Thanks and points available

Please make sure that you build a
multithreaded program first (check with ldd).
If anyone can tell me the maximum number of threads per process I would
    really appreicate it.
Also the maximum number of open files per process. It depends on the architecture (x86/SPARC), OS version,
    64 or 32-bit, /etc/system, shell limitations (/usr/bin/ulimit) ...
    Search for "rlim_fd_max / rlim_fd_cur" on docs.sun.com too.

same  process message icon i want in Z-characteristics created by me , but its not appearing .

is this standard SAP behaviour .  how can i get that process message icon in a new characteristics .
    please advice.

    Dear,
If we see the characteristics of process management through CT04 an icon 'Proc. mgmt' appears for standard characteristics. But this icon does not appear if we create a characteristic manually. This is standard SAP behavior
Just assign process message category in process instruction category in O12C that's all.

  • Process message & Order status

Hi, If you do GI or GR or Confirmation thru process messages, will the order status changes to GMPosted or CNF etc? If not how to change the ststus of the order to the same?

    Hello...
Doing GR, GI or confirmation through PI will obviously change the status of order as it happens through normal transaction... the only difference is that we have changed the route of doing GR, GI or confirmation... Whaever Process messages u define in case of GR, GI or confirmation have a program in process message category which updates the tables which in turn changes the status of Order..
    Hope u understood it..

  • Function modules used in process message categories

    Hi Gurus,
in process message characteristics, we need to assign the function modules. please advise is there any place (sap system or any website) where we can find all the function modules which are used in pi sheets? i want to know function modules and their uses or how to use them in pi sheets? if i want to develop new function modules, what should be the criteria, please guide me. thank you for the support.

    Hello
In addition, on transaction O13C you will find the process message categories and which message destination is assigned to each category.
Here is the documentation of the message categories:

  • Sending Process Message from PI Sheets without "Completing" it

    Hi,
We have long running process orders in our scenarios (typically lasting 3 days).
We are planning to use PI sheets to manage our goods issue/receipts/confirmations. During the brief evaluation of characteristics based PI sheets, we found that all the GI/GR process messages are created only when the entire PI sheet is "Completed".
Since ours is a long running process, we need that the GI/GR entered by the operator is posted immediately in the system (without waiting for PI sheet completion). We can not wait till all the data is entered and the process order is completed three days later.
How do we handle this problem?
We thought of using custom function modules. However, that will mean that we will loose the benefits of the standard GUI elements of PI sheets and complications of custom development.
Any response will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Kundan

Here is something you can try.
With the browser based sheets, try putting in a signature PI category (SAP provide "SIGN") which tends to create a message and place it in the message monitor.  By scheduling the message send background job to run periodically you can pick up and send the messages.  You can schedule this job to run after the event "NEW MESSAGE" but beware the system performance - every 5 mins or so tends to be almost as good with less strain on system resources!
I tend to create a table based PI category to contain each reservation plus room to add actual goods issues/receipts.  Once these are entered, a signature category sends all the messages for the particular phase.  Thus good structure of phases is important.
For goods receipts, you may need to have a phase for each day against which to post a confirmation and/or goods receipt and this together with signature will send the messages.  Alternately, use a PI Category to call the transaction for performing goods receipt - or a bespoke transaction to "front end" the goods receipt - you can pass parameters when you call transactions so you can could pre-populate some information.
Final point on signature - you can set a simple signature that just accepts whatever the user enters on the screen - typically their initials.

  • Unable to process message with internal message

I am trying to find more information about this error I see in the App log. There are thousands of entries with different message IDs.
I have searched Google/Technet and cannot find anything that references this error message. Does anyone have any pointers on where to go to find the account causing this?
    Source: MSExchange Messaging Policies
    Event ID: 8208
    Task Category: RedirectionAgent
Unable to process message with internal message ID: XXXXXX. Mailbox System.Object[]'s ForwardingSmtpAddress %3 isn't valid. Active Directory may have been damaged.

I have just started and taken over for the previous admin so am still learning the setup as well.
We have 3 Exchange 2010 servers (2 in the same location and one remote), all 3 have the same errors in event logs with varying message ids. Only 2 transport rules (One for large attachments and one to add a disclaimer) and both appear to be working correctly.
I was hoping to find a way to track down more information about the message based on the ID to see if I can find any similarities but have not found a way. I have found how to find the message ID based on sender/recipient/etc. but not the other way.

  • Process instruction characteristics and process messages

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me why process instruction characteristics is required when only process message characteristics are displayed in PI sheets (input or output).
    Regards
    Joe

    Hi,
Answer is already there in your question.
    and that is
    (input or output)
Now you creates the one Process Message characteristic let's it is Temperature. But how it's value comes in the PI Sheet (As Ouput or Input manually by user) that is decided by that Process Instruction Characteristic.
Now when you creates the Process Instruction Category (O12C) except type 0 you have choice of creates it by using help of Process Assistant. This Assistant assigns the Process Instruction Characteristic to the process Massage Characteristic automatically when you select the specific radio button or Activate the check box during that PI category creation.
For Example when you creates the PI category Type 2 using Assistant. Here after naming first screen comes to you is to define type of Process data Request. Here when you select the radio Button for Simple process data request then indirectly you assign the process Instruction characteristic PPPI_DATA_REQUEST_TYPE and its Value comes as Simple.
But when you create the PI category type 0 you have to assign this PI Characteristic manually because its Universal Category and there is no assistant which helps you.

  • Process Message Processing delay

Can anybody explain, why does it take longer time in SAP for a process message to process successfully?
In CO54 - From the moment it gets created (yello light) to the moment when it is successfully processed (green light). We have an issue in one of the plant where it takes upto 3 to 4 hours to process the message. It is mainly for PI_PROD message category and it happens for only fewl PI_PROD process messages.
It is only happening for one plant though.

    Ok, I found the solution.
There is batch job that is scheduled at client level and its priority is "Medium".
    - We changed the priority to "high" (still waiting to see if this helps)
    - If the above solution didn't work then schedule batch job at plant level instead at client level [SAP Recomended] (This should defintely solve the problem)

  • Process Message and PI sheet

    Dear All,
I have created one finished product and one raw material. In Master Recipe i created one Phase and assign two instruction category CONS_1 and PROD_1.
Now i generated PI sheet in COR2 and see CO53 that it is present and now i send it and in CO60 it is there.
Now when i see and enter quantity in PIsheet and double click on it to see the Process Message
    1) PI_PROD has material number of finished product - It is ok
    2) PI_CONS has also material number of finished product but it should have raw material number.
    So, my issues are
    1) How raw material will be there in PI_CONS Process Message.
    2) Should i create two phase and assign it one by one or what else.
    3) If i have Process Order of 500 quantity and through PI Sheet i do GR of 10 and GI of 10 then for next time how should i do GI and GR again. Should i send PI Sheet again from CO53 to CO60.
    4) Is there only one control Recipe is generated for one process order.

    Hi,
process instruction CONS_1 will not show raw material number it will show reservation number of the process order...instead of using CONS_1 use CONS_D and use this control recipe destination and make the settings as shown below...
your final PI sheet output will be like this....
    Hope this helps...
    Thanks

  • How to creat Process messages automatically through PI sheet saved?

How to creat Process messages automatically through PI sheet to the Process message destinations.

    Hi Jessie,
When you process instruction category PROD_3 in master recipe, the process message PI_PROD is created.
After releasing process order, you have to create control recipe. Upon successful creation of control recipe, process instructions will get generated. Check the error log for control recipe creation for error if any.
Note that control recipe will be generated only with order status "Released".
You have to sent this control recipe to process control (CO53).
    Hope it is helpful.

  • O13C - Process message charateristics required indicator

We can use the indicator in O13C to decide if a message characteristic is required/mandatory or not. Is there a similar setting for process instruction characteristics?
I have a Z characteristic for which the value will be blank sometimes (which is allowed in the business). where can I say that the value for this characteristic is optional and not mandatory? I don't want control recipe creation to be rejected just because this characteristic value is blank in the process instruction.
    Thx
    Swathi

    hi swati ,
we cannot change characteristics in CT04 for standard SAP PPPI-* charcaterisics , i.e. we cannot put it as mandatory in CT04 as SAP does not allow the change.
so we should use O13C to make the characteristics mandatory .
also 2nd point is if you make Z characteristics mandatory in CT04 it will be applicable acroos all plants and message category you use it.
but O13C will give you flexibility to have it mandatory for plant related or message category.
    regards,
    satish
