Process Monitoring: Monitor BI Process Chains

Hello,
does someone know how to monitor Bi process chains in SolMan Process Monitoring? I tried to add the chain CCMS node, but for some reason it does not accept the chain (I guess because it is a dynamic created CCMS context).
Regards,
Frank

Hi,
I will monitor one process with the name
pmd, but 4 processes match on these chracters. How
can i tell SMC that the Process Monitoring shows only
the process who exactly Match the entered value ?Have you tried the extra optional user and/or argument filtering?
If all 4 of your processes run as the same user, with the same arguments (or none at all) then you could also symlink a different file name to the binary you want so it appears in your ps output as something unique. That only works if you have control over what launches that process to begin with (so you can change it to call that new name as well).
If you still can't make that process unique you could also write a small script to monitor it and dump back the interesting bits to stdout to be read by ScriptRunner (http://www.halcyoninc.com/products/ScriptRunner/index.php)

  • Monitoring BI PROCESS CHAIN with Solution Manager BPMON

    Hello,
I'm trying to setup the monitoring of BI process chain using the BPMON
I setup the process chain monitoring using  BPmon application monitoring "BI Process Chain Monitoring" (BOBIPCMO)
but than I'm not able to read the process chain names, steps, and variant from satellite system
On other systems, using different application monitor (like PI MONITOR) is working fine
i'm using the latest plug-in ST-A/PI 01L_BCO700 on entire landscape
    My bi system is 7.01 EHP1 sp4
    solution Manager is 7.01 EHP1 SP20
    Any suggestiions?
    Thanks
    Marco

    Hello Marco,
the problem is that the Process Chain monitor is not yet available with ST-A/PI 01L*. Unfortunately the empty hull that you see during the setup was shipped without the proper content. The Process Chain monitor will be properly shipped with the next ST-PI and ST-A/PI combination in Q2/2010.
    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
If you want to have this monitor earlier on it could be implemented via Customer Exit in case that you have some MaxAttention or Safeguarding engagement.

  • Process chains in red(errors occurred), monitoring in green

Hi friends,I have same problems with the monitoring / process chains.
For exemples in the Monitor for OMAT_SALES in the tab Status I have green for Total and Technical with the message:
       Data successfully updated
       Diagnosis
The request has been updated successfully.
       InfoSource : 0MAT_SALES
       Data type : Texts
       Source system: PRD-600
In the tab Details I have:
-the Overall status in red, error occures or missing messages
    -the requests, extractions,transfers,processing-everything is Ok-green
    -the Process Chains-errors occurred-red
In the transaction RSPC the infopackage for load data OMAT_SALES is red,the next infopackage in the chain is green.
What can I do to fix this problem  for Process Chain in RSPC and also in Monitoring (tab Details)?
    I will apreciate any answer,
    Thanks,
    Claudia

The next connected infopackage must be connected with Always link that's why its processed even after the failure node. Go and cross check what errors you got for the failed process, and reload it manually.

  • Process Chain Red 'X', Exec Infopckg Yellow, Infopckg monitor/data correct

Dear and respectable colleagues of the forum,
I am experiencing a problem in a process chain when executing infopackages. The process chain has 6 "Execute infopackage" processes. Sometimes (1 of 4 attempts average) my process chain ended with red color with 'X' status in the Process Chain Display Log View.
Reviewing within the chain Log, there is one of the "Execute infopackage" processes that appears in yellow color (it loads from direct update ODS to an infocube). However, revising the Logs for its corresponding Infopackage execution I found that it says that "Data successfully updated". Moreover, If I review the data loaded it seems to have been loaded correctly.
Then, Why does the "Execute infopackage" process in PC finishes with yellow color if the Infopackage execution itself finishes correclty?
To complete the whole scenario: I execute this process chain every night from an Abap program; the program has a Loop that traverses a table, and executes the process chain as many times as the quantity of rows in that table (table has 10 rows meaning offices). As you can understand, the chain is executed 10 times, and the error occurs in any of the 6 "Execute infopackage" processes indistinctly.
I review ST22 and SM37 for all users for the datetime when the error occured butnothing bizarre was reported. It is left to review SM21.
The following is the detail of messages.
    Logs for Execute Infopackage
       Data successfully updated
    Monitor of Infopackage
      Details Tab
         Requests (messages): Everything OK
         Extraction (messages): Everything OK
Transfer (IDocs and TRFC): Everything OK
         Processing (data packet): Everything OK
           Data Package 1 ( 45 Records ) : Everything OK
             Transfer Rules ( 45  -> 45  Records ) : No errors
             Update rules ( 45  -> 45  Records ) : No errors
             Update ( 45  new / 0 changed ) : No errors

    Dear s v desh,
I am on SAP BW 3.5, I already checked the cube and it is green - all right.
The message in the infopackage excution node in the process chain says (non-error):
      "Data successfully updated"
The error message in process chain monitor (log) says:
......"Overall status: Error occurred: or: Missing messages
    ............Process Chains : Errors occurred"
I just realized that there is no messages at all in the infopackage monitor (log).
I have received a clue, someone asked me to review note 1396417, and I will.

  • Infopackage red in process chain but green in monitor

With our system (BW30B, patch14, W2K, Oracle 9.2.0.5) we are having some issues with some infopackages which are included in a process chain.
In the process chain, the status is red with the following error messages: "Processing in Warehouse timed out; processing steps mising", "<DS:DE.RSCALLER>Caller  is still missing." but the data was loaded properly --> if I open the monitor status for that infopackage, the status is green (and I confirm that data was properly loaded).
But, this is a problem as it screws up the process chain. I did not find a fix after seaching OSS notes, but the note #766712 seems close to our issue - I tried to apply it but it did not work. In the note, it's recommended to turn on a higher enqueue time --> could you please help me on how to do it? I checked everywhere and did not find the menu option to do it.
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks
    Ioan

    Thanks Roberto
I do not think it is related to this setting (it's now set to 30000, which is 3H) - the data properly ended loading before.
When I change the status manually in the monitor, it is reflected in the process chain - but this happens every night, so I have to turn them green manualy every morning ...
The note is 766721 (and not 766712)
Thanks in advance for any help

  • Process chain design/schedule/monitoring/debugging

    hi  friends
pls  help  me on  the  issue of process chain design/schedule/monitoring/debugging
with  one  of  real  time  scenario, with help of t-codes and  detail  navigation
    thanks in advance
    venkatp

I have listed below the major informatin neede for your requirement...
1.Go to RSPC to view all the chains.
2.There click on any chain which you want to run/view.
3.Click on the <b>log view(</b>shift+F1) to view all the previous runs of the chain and whether they have failed or successful(here you can select 1 day, week ,month etc in the display range)
4.If you want to modify the chain /add a process type /change the variant  then click (Ctrl+F9) and do the changes.
Even  you can change the start variant in change mode for manual scheduling>right click on start process typeselect display variant--now select  start Direct Scheduling/ API  or Metachain
under <b>direct scheuling</b> option you can trigger it by setting start immediately /Date-time/After job/event whatever you want to do
Else you can make it part of a Metachain consisting of different such small local process chains.
Now Click on Schedule (F8) to run this chain manually.
    5.For <b>Monitoring</b> use Tcodes SM37/RSPCM/SM50
    Also you can use BWCCMS.
I usually prefer sm37 to view all the background jobs but SM50 is also useful.
6.<b>debug loop</b> can be used to debug a process chain.(you have to specify here the gap between one event been triggered and the next subsequent process starting)
to capture process in debugger go to  SM37(job overview) or to SM50(process overview)

  • Monitoring process chains: authorizations

    Hi,
We have an issue about monitoring of BW process chains.
We have a support desk in our IT department doing first-level support on basically all our it systems.
The support desk have only limited SAP knowledge (they can do simple things like unlocking users, etc.).
Currently our BW developers are also responsible of day-to-day monitoring of BW process chains.
We would like to move this task to the support desk.
The support desk will be responsible of identifying problems and maybe doing simple corrective actions (restarting a process chain?).
In case of "real" problems the support desk will hand over the issue to our BW developers.
We have tried to create a role giving access to transaction rspcm for the support desk.
But we have not been able to restrict the authorizations.
From rspcm it is possible to go into process chain maintenance, and we would like to make sure that no one makes changes to the process chains by accident.
We would like to have a role giving "display only" access to monitoring process chains.
Anyone with experience in doing this?
    /Casper

    Hi Vijay,
We have tried adding only the transaction RSPCM (object S_TCODE) and the object S_RS_ADMWB as suggested by you.
The problem is that when "clicking" on a process chain in transaction RSPCM authorizations for transaction RSPC is required.
We have then added transaction RSPC to object S_TCODE.
When displaying the process chain, the user is not able to maintain info packages (this must be controlled by S_RS_ADMWB?).
But the user are still able to maintain the other process types (attribute change run as an example) ???
    Are we missing another auth.object?
    Best regards,
    Casper

  • Process Chain Monitoring

    Hi there,
ok i've found out that I can use rspc and rspcm to monitor my process chain.
but i don't really see any information on whether or when my process chain was triggered or not. all i see is information about when i did last changes and when i activated the chain, etc.
does that mean, it just was not triggered yet?
then i must have something wrong...

When you say it didnt trigger, is it waiting for a event..to run the process chain..
If it is the case, then you can go to SM37 and give in your selections for that event ..and look for any jobs ran or not.
Other way right click on your process chain and click on  Dispaly all jobs..this shows all jobs if it ran..and also scheduled jobs if any..
I guess in your case check if it is ever scheduled..

  • BI Process chain monitoring from SOLMAN

    Hi,
We have configured CEN in our landscape and successfuly managed to get data from satellite systems and getting alerts according to our requirement.
But for BI Process chain Monitor we are getting alerts of yellow MTE with text "Entire chain now has status 'A'", which is flooding our mailbox. We cant find any way to stop this and to receive mails only for failed process chains i.e. for red MTE.
Can you please help us in this?
    Thank you,

  • Monitoring the process chain

    HI
    BI DEVOLOPERS
Am having a problem in the process chain ....
That means how can i know the today scheduling process chains please any one can help me.

For the process chain we have 3 important transactions .
    1. RSPC   - log view for runs of a process chain.
    2. RSPC1  - process chain maintenance for a given process chain
    3. RSPCM - Monitoring of daily process chains
    4. Check whether you have access to tcode - ST13  .
Its a very handy transaction for BW monitoring .
    For the process chains .
    ST13  -> Enter tool name as 'BW-Tools' -> Execute
Select the radio button Process Chain analysis and execute .
Over here clicking on the corresponding tabs gives you further information.
Check fout for ST13 as this tcode  is available only after installing some support packages .
Hope this information would be helpful to you .
    Regards .

  • Regading Process chains data load monitoring

    Hi All,
In my current project, I need to monitor process chains. I am kind of new to this environment as I had not done this before. My tasks are as follows.
    1. Process chains are scheduled for a periodic job for every on hour starting at 6 a.m and ending at 12 a.m. After that I need to stop the chain and reschedule it for next day at 6 a.m. How do I do that?
    2. Also if a delta process chain fails in one of the processes, I need to stop the chain before the next delta run starts filling the cube. How do I do that?
Also how to see why the process failed?
    Please do respond.
    Thanks in advance.

You can stop your process chain in SM37 tcode. Just select the schedules processes, and here you can see your process chain, just select it, and cancel it for next release.
You can restart it, just by clicking on Execute button. Before executing PC, just cross check by right clicking process chain, and go to change selection option of maiantain variant of start variant. And see if process chain schedule option is starting at 6A.M. or not, and also check it is selected as period job of ` hour or not.
You can see log of process chain by right clicking it, and checking the message. It depends on what option for next process is you selected, like if your next variant connected to failed variant is selected as only if success, then you don;t need to stop ot. It will automatically not go to next process. or right click and you can select stop.
By right clicking on failed process you can see the logs in details.

  • Monitoring process chains

    Hello all,
Can anybody please send me info about monitoring process chains....
Could anybody tell me all the steps involved to monitor process chains...the tcodes...what has to be done if the process chain stops somewhere...
if there is a metachain...how do we know at what stage and what corrresponding local process chains are running...
background jobs that have to be monitored...
    some information would helps
    many thanks in advance

    Hello Rishi,
    1. Execute RSPCM tcode. This will list all process chain configured for RSPCM.
    2. Select the Process chain that u want to monitor. Single click.
    3. This will takeu to the logs. In case your log is not set for current date, then click on other logs button and select ToDay radio button.
Incase nothing is configured for RSPCM, use RSPC.This will list all process chains in left pane. Select the relevant process chain by double clicking. Then click on Log view,
In case a step is green , it means it was successful; if yellow, then in progress and if red, means the step has failed.
In caseu want to know more, let us know.

  • To Automate Process Chain Monitoring

    Hi All,
Currently we have process chain which extracts data from Informatica system and loads to BW DSO's.
After successfull execution of process chain daily, we download data from PSA, and display only company code, reference key and data packet.
We make a Pivot table in excel sheet to display only company code, refreence key and data packet.
When I plan to automate it, I have a problem. I have all data with PSA table (company code, reference key & data packet).
But I need to display data daily after execution of process chain. So the date is not getting captured with PSA table.
Can you please help me on the same.
    Thanks.

I think for displaying the 3 fields on a daily basis, you need to select the request based on date and then filter out the fileds using a select query in your code.

    Hi
It seems you used infopack when you select update data inot datatarget then system prompts you a infopack. That's the infopack which is generated by system being used in process chain variant to update data into datatarget.
Create new infopack/ DTP manually then use that infoapck/DTP on the process chain variant then try.
