Process of Adobe Reader XI, is running in the Background, after closing.

Hi,
when I close the Adobe Reader XI, the Process is still running in the Background of my System. The Process needs a lot of CPU an after some moment my System is slowing down rapidly.
Windows 8 (64-bit)
Adobe Reader 11.
What's to do?
Greetings

Same exact same situation happened to me with Windows 8 64 bit, Adobe XI .
the CPOU is slowing down and is heated. the fans s running all the time. the only solution was for me to end the processes from the taks bars (one process per adobe file open !!!)
somethign is definitely wrong; but don't know if it is Windows 8 or Adobe; I thing it is Adobe issue.

  • After installing zone Alarm extreme 10, firefox.exe 32 stays running in the background after closing, making it not possible to open it again.

After installing the latest Zone Alarm Extreme v10, on windows 7 x64, when I close firefox, the window closes but firefox.exe 32 remains running in the background, which makes that when I want to open firefox again, after about a minute I get the error that an instance of firefox is still running. I go to task manager and end task of firefox.exe 32 and then open firefox again.
    This is now happening regularly.

This seemed to come out of the blue, very much as described by anima42. I also am a Ubuntu 10.04 user. I have pondered on the first reply above, and though I don't, and didn't, use Tabberwocky, I was using Tab Mix Plus. Having removed this, the problem seems to have gone away. Another possible clue as to what went wrong: I use a constant Firefox profile located in my home directory. I dabbled with Ubuntu 11.04 a week or so ago, which runs (I think) a more updated Firefox. This Firefox was operating on my default profile, as you would. It may have broken something so it now doesn't play nicely with the 10.04 setup. Just surmising.

  • Firefox.exe (32 bit) continues to run in the background after closing, Im running Firefox (64 bit).

After browsing the web and downloading items from websites, with Firefox's built in download manager, then closing Firefox I'll have to open my task manager and manually stop the 32 bit .exe. Im running Firefox (64 bit) on a Win7 (64 bit) system.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • When I close Firefox, the window closes but the Firefox.exe process and Plug-in Container remain running in the background and have to be shut down using Windows Task Manager.

This happens frequently. Something in Firefox continues to run even when the program is closed. The process has to be stopped before I can open Firefox again.

Thanks. Closing with File/Exit instead of the X closes Firefox properly. AT LAST! A solution!

  • Why is my Adobe Reader 11 going automatically to the background when i open an pdf file

    Hello Guys,
We have a problem at a customer. If he opens an pdf file from his programm , then it is going automatically to the background.
We tried it with Adobe Reader 8 and that wasn't giving a problem, so anybody has an workaround for Adobe Reader 11 ?
    Thanks
    Tariku Bartels

    Dear Pat,
We have internet explorer 9.0 (and we tried it with 10) and when we want to proceed with it, it opens for a second an goes to the background.
So it opens in the External Adobe Reader. But i know we can alt-tab it but it needs to be automatically and that worked just with Reader 8.
So do you have any idea of how we can fix this or is there a workaround available for this problem.
    Kind regards,

  • Firefox keeps running in the backround after closing it, it just lingers there, and when I try to restart firefox, it says that I have to close the current one or restart my system to clear the last firefox. what can I do, thanks...

After the last update, my IBM Clone computer does not close the session of firefox when clicking on "close" it clears the screen back to the desktop but firefox continues to hang there in the backround and will not allow another session of firefox to start until the first session is closed. The only way to reconnect is to do a restart on my system, and then the old firefox session is closed and the new session will start.

Must be the "hang at exit" problem. <br /><br />

  • Is there a way to have applications run in the background after I log out?

New to Mavericks, have a new iMac after being on Leopard for years. After I log out, all the applications I had running stop and close. Is there a way to keep those running? It seems like logging out, and the applications stopping, would negate the ability to see any notifications on the lock screen. I have multiple users set up on this computer, is that the reason?

By definition, logging out means quitting all your processes. If you want to log in as a different user without logging out, see below.

  • Firefox keeps running in the background after loging out.

I log out of firefox. Close computer. When trying to restart firefox I get a message that firefox is still running.

I've had this problem, too, every once in awhile. Sounds like it's just bad coding on Mozilla's part, and that there isn't anything you can definitively do to prevent it. I'm literally running one or two extensions and/or add-ons and I get Java hangs all of the time, and the page absolutely crawls when I have to load anything with flash ads. It'd be nice if these browers kept things simple, especially for those of us with older/ish cpus.

  • Does TM  run in the background?

    Hello,
i'm thinking of upgrading to leopard, but one of my concerns is if time machine works in the background? Meaning can I still use my computer while TM is running every hour? Or do I have to wait for TM to finish?

Yes it runs in the background - after the initial full backup you're unlikely to notice it.

  • The new version of firefox does not shut down when I close the browser it continues running in the background. In addition it opens Adobe Reader for a brief time and then that closes. Everything worked fine before this new version.

Firefox automatically loaded a new version recently. The new version does not shut down when I close the browser it continues running in the background. In addition it opens Adobe Reader for a brief time and then that closes. Everything worked fine before this new version.

Sounds like something has been added into the Reader folder. I would recommend uninstalling, running http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, removing any left over parts of the Reader folder (this might have been the problem), reboot, and reinstall. Hopefully that solves the problem. For future question about Reader, you should consider asking in the Reader forum, this is not it.

I am having the exact same problem.  But it seems rare since no one has responded to this post.  A web search turns up a number sketchy website claiming that kswebshield.dll is some sort of malware, but there are no results when you search for it on McAfee.com - no results.  But Malwarebytes.org has a couple results, neither of them are helpful.

OK.... Here's what I found.  An answer to this post describes the solution (http://www.precisesecurity.com/qa/?p=1829) (scroll down to see the answer).  Since Kingsoft appears to be a legitimate company they should be working adobe to figure out why their software conflicts with Adobe Reader (and who know's which other Adobe products).
None of the following products identified Kingsoft as a problem; McAfee, Malware Bytes and Spybot Search & Destroy.
To elaborate on the instructions in the email, I did the following:
    1. Disabled the KingSoft service.
    2. Backed up my Registry
    3. Deleted the following folders and registry keys:
    C:\ProgramData\kingsoft
    C:\ProgramData\WDD
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Kingsoft Antivirus WebShield Service
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\services\Kingsoft Antivirus WebShield Service
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Kingsoft Antivirus WebShield Service
    * I was unable to use the "Delete With Wiping" feature in Windows 7 x64, even after reboot.  But, when I Shift+Deleted the files they successfully dissappeared.  I'm going to download BCwipe and wipe the slack space on my machine just to be safe.
    4.  Finally, successfully, launched Adobe Reader.

My Adobe Reader wouldn't download tickets.  Tried opening Adobe Reader application but it would not open.  I saw my Adobe Reader needed to be updated, so I attempted to install new Adobe Reader.  When it came to finalizing, it said there is an error and can't do.  Any ideas?  I have no functioning Adobe reader.  Should I uninstall old Adobe Reader and then try installing the updated AR?

(Had to step away & do things) I can't even open up the Adobe Reader application to uninstall; get message it won't open. And now have more things needing to be downloaded to print.  Any ideas on how to open the app, so I can uninstall.  I have a MAC OS X 10.9.4  When the installation initially failed I received this message from Adobe, " Adobe Reader Installation Error  Package name Adobe Reader xi (11.0.07)  Installer: installing abase path/installer: The install failed  (The install encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.  Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)  It did not specify what the error was
