Process Snmp (PDU Dispatcher) causes High CPU value
Hello,
I have a Catalyst Switch 6000. Inoticed that after the execution of the job inventory in LMS, and after the snmp queries reached the equipement, the cpu value reached 98-99 % due to the process : PDU DISPATCHER (what’s it ?)
I have also a script running in the switch to observe the differents logs. For exemple, when high cpu is obtained, the message bellow appear :
« %SNMP-3-INPUT_QFULL_ERR: Packet dropped due to input
« %SNMP-3-INPUT_QFULL_ERR: Packet dropped due to input
« %SNMP-3-INPUT_QFULL_ERR: Packet dropped due to input
Could you give me any idea or help ?

This msg is normally generated when to many snmp request overrun the buffer allocated for such requests. There are a number of things that can cause this as well as a number of known issues that can be worked around using snmp views. Without reviewing show logging and other information available in a show tech, hard to say what the best method to resolve this. Should probably open a TAC SR to troubleshoot the issue further...

BTServer causing high CPU utilization
Just got a new MacBook Pro with OS X Lion and updated to 10.7.1. I've seen the BTServer process cause high CPU utilization twice now. One morning I also noticed that the fan was running loudly while the lid was closed and the computer was locked up; I had to force power it off. Anyone seeing similar issues? Doing a search for BTServer on Google or even here in the Apple Support Communities does not bring up anything related to Lion at all, only iPhone-related articles.
yup, i had this problem too. i have a new 2.2ghz macbook pro and while at a coffee shop, i noticed my battery draining very quickly, and a look at activity monitor showed that BTServer was running away with high-cpu utilization. i killed off the process and didn't notice any loss of functionality.
not sure what it was supposed to do with so much freaking cpu cycles!!!
is this for bluetooth? i dont even have bluetooth on. im not happy about this having to be something i'd need to keep a eye on when i'm trying to maximize my battery life. -
Does debug ip OSPF adjacency will cause high CPU
Hello All,
We are finding a OSPF flapping issue on Cisco 3750x switches. To isolate the issue TAC has suggested "debug ip ospf adj"
Does this command will cause high CPU utilization?
There are 12 OSPF neighbours connected to that switch and we have the hello interval of 1 second.
Any of your help would be appreciable.

ThiyaguIt may do... But unlikely. There is always a risk with debug commands that have large output. Especially that you have hello intervals set to 1 second. I would advise to do out of hours if necessary to mitigate risks of impacting production.
What version of ios are you on and show the output of 'show proc cpu sorted'
I have had a similar experience and multicast was the problem. It was high CPU and dropping ospf adjacencies. We downgraded to 12.2 55 SE 8
It helped the problem for CPU utilisation but didn't fix it. Since then we are using 6509Es in VSS -
Browser's javascript engine causing high CPU load and lost swipe events
I'm having performance issues on some websites. I think that my the javascript engine in the Playbook's javascript engine is causing high CPU usage, which means the device misses swipe gestures.

Once the page is loaded swipe to scroll up and down. On my device (and my friend's) it is incredibly slow. Sometimes it refuses to register any swipe events.
Now turn off javascript and reload the page. Swipe to scroll up and down. Smooth as silk!
My device is a new 16Gb with version 1.0.7.3312. ThanksI'm having the same problem on a number of websites with my 32gb Playbook. On the same sites that I notice slow, sometimes barely responsive swipes for scrolling my wife's iPad 2 handles them with ease. Disabling javascript fixes the problem however a lot of websites including gmail requires javascript to be enabled on your browser to load. I notice the problem quite a bit when using webmail to check my gmail account which is rather frustrating because it is my only option until PB gets a native email client. My PB is running software 1.0.8.4295, but the problem was also occurring when it was running 1.0.7.

Publishing topology causes high CPU times? What?
I have a mixed environment currently with 2 lync 2010 front ends (Production) and 4 lync 2013 front ends (pilot pools).
When I make a change and publish the topology all 6 2010 and 2013 front ends go to 100% CPU time. IIS Worker Process is to blame and issuing "iisreset" on each server fixes it.
Where do I ever begin to diagnose this? No odd network traffic in packet captures, but I know right away when it happens as SCOM starts blowing up on CPU time and Lync conference join errors.Each 60 seconds a task is run to determine if a change has been made to the CMS master and needs to be replicated. If a change was made, all replica need to synchronize with the CMS master. The replication may cause the high CPU usage. You should check the
duration of the High CPU usage. I think once the replication completes, the CPU usage will go down.

Hi All,
I'm trying to do some research on the Dispatch Unit process. It seems High CPU and this process go hand in hand. I haven't figured out an effective way of determining what underlying issue is the actual source. Can someone point me in the right direction to try an understand what the Dispatch Unit process is doing? I have an ASA 5550. I have seen the cpu hover around 85% +- 5% for sustained long periods, 30 - 60 min +. I have always been under the impression that around 80% cpu and you're probably dropping packets (that could be an out-dated belief).
Any help to understand this is much appreciated.

Dispatch Unit - High Cpu Usage

ASA5510 8.2.5(50)
The Dispatch unit process is contantly having high cpu usage for last 10 hours.
Things checked:
1. show proc cpu-usage
2. show perf
It seems fine . Output attached
3. Show interfaces for error
No error, overruns, underrruns on interfaces
4. show traffic
Total cumulative through put on approx 4 Mbps.
drop rate max is 3 pkts /sec randomly and rare occurance on some interfaces
5. Connections and Xlate seem normal.
approx 1100.
Counters were reset 1 hour before the data was collected.

TCP Out-of-Order packet buffer full:
This counter is incremented and the packet is dropped when appliance receives an
out-of-order TCP packet on a connection and there is no buffer space to store this packet.
Typically TCP packets are put into order on connections that are inspected by the
appliance or when packets are sent to SSM for inspection. There is a default queue size
and when packets in excess of this default queue size are received they will be dropped.
Recommendations:
On ASA platforms the queue size could be increased using queue-limit configuration
under tcp-map.
Similarly you need to check many reasons for the asp drop logs that you have captured and you need to monitor how much it is increasing and the difference.......
but 40 % CPU utilization is a okay kind of thing and you do not need to worry if that happens only during peak hours ans it is not increasing drastically more and more.

I have been having some trouble over the last couple of days with UserEventAgent process. It constantly consumes over 100% CPU. This of course results in obvious problems of the unit getting really hot, high CPU fan speed and faster battery drain.
While investigating the root cause, I removed each of the plugins (located at /System/Library/UserEventPlugins/) one by one and restarted the UserEventAgent process (if you force quit the process, it restarts) and each time, observed the impact on CPU consumption.
After a while, I was able to zero down on "com.apple.cts.plugin". If I removed this file from the plugins folder and forced UserEventAgent to restart, my CPU usage went back to normal with no excess heat or high-speed fan.
While it seems to solve my problem, I am left wondering what this plugin really does and if by not having it I am putting my system at risk.
Any help would be appreciated.I learnt this the hard-way as well. I am not too sure but probably it has something to do with cerification authority or something like that. BTW I am looking for the answer as well.

Does 'prstat -J -n 1,100 -z global 1 1' command causes high CPU utlization?
Hi experts,
We used command 'prstat -J -n 1,100 -z global 1 1' to obtain the project statistics.
One of my customer who have around 800 processes with around 300 users facing problem on his machine whenver the above prstat command executed. As per his comments 'prstat' consuming high CPU.
He has using machine with following configuraton:
SunOS <machine name> 5.10 Generic_120011-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V490
Is any one has face similar issue? Is it related to any OS patch?

Adobe stuffs cause high CPU usage
I just download Creative Cloud a few days ago for Primiere CC and since then there is always something from it that causes ~50% CPU usage. I tried to end the process by Task Manager and something else just replace the previous one's place. Sometimes it's CEP Service Manager, sometimes it's Core Sync, CEF Helper, etc. and it's driving me nut! I mean like right now Firefox only takes about 20% while those things just sky rocket the CPU usage. What should I do? How do I stop this?
Since I installed CC, my laptop has been running very hot too.

VI causes high CPU load after several days of running
Hello,
I have a strange problem. I have craeted a test bench control VI and it runs on five PCs, controling five test benches. All PCs have almost the same hardware, same motherboard, same CPU, etc.
Normaly the CPU load is around 50% when I run the VI, but at one PC the CPU load climbs up to 85% after several days (maybe one week) of continuous running and the PC is almost tied up - the VI execution becomes very slow (10 times slower) and the mouse only moves very slowly.
First I thought that the PC has a problem but the problem dissapears as soon as I stop and restart the VI!
I don't even have to terminate LabVIEW - only my VI and then everything is okay again.
The problem does not seem to occur at the other four PCs, but I can not tell for sure.
The task manager says only LabVIEW causes the CPU load - swap file utilisation is little.
Is there a way to analyze what causes the high CPU load?
I Use LabVIEW 7.1 professional
Operating System: Win XP (SP 2 or 3 I don't remember)
P.S. I have no loops without wait-functions.

An increase in resource usage if often cause by sloppy programming.
Do you grow arrays forever or constantly resize arrays in memory? (built array, insert into array, delete from array)
Do you often create new references and never close them?
What does the program actually do? In my opinion, a constant 50% CPU load seems too high for my taste. It means it would not even be able to keep up on slightly older hardware.

Enabling NSX on cluster cause high CPU load
I'm testing NSX in my nested vSphere lab, when enable NSX on cluster each nested esxi starts to use 100% of 1 pCore assigned to nested ESXi.
esxtop shows that netcpa process use 100% of resource of 1 pcore.
Also I try to reproduce that situation on physical hardware, and the result was the same, netcpa uses 100% of one pcore.
Is it normal situation? Why NSX uses so much resource.You'll have to give more details:
-is hardware on vSphere and NSX HCL?
-physical hardware specifications
-NSX version
-vSphere components installed, versions and baseline functionality (is environment falling apart or functional and super fast)
-How far have you gotten with the NSX deployment...did you fully deploy solution or stop at the host preparation step when you noticed high CPU load
-are there any other problems in environment or with host/s
-is the solution licensed properly
-have you checked the netcpa log file on the ESXi host?
-have you checked the hostd log file on the ESXi host? -
Mixer window can cause high CPU usage, crashes
This is probably one of the weirdest bugs I've seen for a while. Here are the steps that I reproduce it for me, maybe someone will want to try this out and see if they get the same.
1) Open an Empty Project template.
2) Create 16 instrument tracks when it gives you the dialog. (even 1 will be enough, but the effect is clearer the more tracks you create)
3) Open the mixer. Either in a window or in the pane.
4) Now create a "multi-timbral" instrument track with the plus button (use the checkbox there).
5) Select the 16th track, and now select one of the arrange tracks of the multi-timbral instrument.
6) Open up Activity Monitor from your Utilities folder in Finder and see how much Logic is taking up CPU. It should be significantly higher than the idle state. On my MBP it'll be around 80%.
This is not a problem in itself, because when reproducing it like this the high CPU usage goes away when you select another track and won't return if you select the multi-timbral instrument again.
However, I have sessions where this will continue happening with a multi-timbral instrument all the time. Not only that, I've had Logic crash when this starts happening. And this whole thing will slow down the UI considerably when it's active.
The workaround that seems to work for me is simply not keeping the mixer window/pane open.This is one of the issue which has already been raised to Microsoft and hopefully a public build will be available soon in next cumulative update pack .
There are variety of reason for this starting for password mismatch or password not given , SFTP adapter unable to connect and so on .

Wake-On-Lan (WOL) after sleep causes high CPU usage

I noticed a problem with constant high CPU usage on one of my cores.
As much as 60% was used.
The problem occures after I put the system to "sleep" (S3 state) and perform a WOL with a "magic packet".
I discovered that ACPI.sys+0x1af44 thread was responsible (using sysinternals ProcessExplorer) under the System process.
If i perform WOL while the machine was shut down everything works perfectly.
My NIC is "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" and I'm using the latest drivers.
I discovered that if I disabled the option in Power Management for the device: "Allow this device to wake the computer", the CPU usage immediately went to normal (without restarting). But enabling it back the high CPU usage resumes. Performing
another sleep and awaking the system with power button "resets" the CPU usage issue for "good". Until i WOL from sleep again ofcourse..
I contacted the motherboard manufacturer of the problem but so far no real answer.
I'm saddened because I need the WOL feature.
I'm hoping somebody who has more insight in the behaviour of ACPI on W7 can answer my questions.
