Process suddenly inavailable & noisy monitoring

I've been using STP for 3 years. After upgrading to the most recent version I began to have some unexplained issues.
1. I export a single track to soundtrack from FCP it opens in the Waveform editor.
during playback I hear some static in my monitor that is not there in FCP even after I go back to FCP with the new track. Is there some way to fix this?
2. After determining that the previous issue was only in monitoring, I begin my process of cleaning up the track. It's a studio segment so it's mostly running through and fixing levels. About 1/3 of the way through the track, "adjust amplitude" becomes unavailable (As does Normalize) for no apparent reason. I restarted the software, trashed preferences, rebooted the system-none of this works.
I thought I'd save as an aif file and continue editing in the new file. Save as is not available.
Any ideas why this happens? This is the second time I've encountered this. Last time I was under a deadline so I just stopped using STP and did what I could in FCP.
Any insight is appreciated

Hi,
Please check state messages produced from clients to confirm compliance state.
Choose a specific application in a client, search application title in the AppIntentEval.log to find the “ScopeId”.
Search the “ScopeId” in CIAgent.log to find the compliance state.
Then search the “ScopeId” in StateMessage.log, compare the state with that in CIAgent.log. And confirm that stat message is forwarded successfully.

  • Mdworker process suddenly high CPU usage

    Hi All
I've been running Mountain Lion since it was released, upgrading from Lion. I've never had a problem with mdworker until a few days ago when suddenly, the mdworker process started hitting 90% CPU on my iMac.
I've disabled Spotlight, deleted the .Spotlight directories, rebooted the iMac, but each time mdworker . Prior to this, the iMac's CPU temperature was around 43C, with very little CPU usage, but now it is around 60C and 100% across the two cores. The only way to 'get back to normal' is to use :
    sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
but of course Spotlight doesn't work at all.
I've used 'sudo fs_usage -w -f filesys mdworker' but I can't see anything that mdworker is perhaps choking on.
Does any have any ideas? I'm racking my brain to remember if I did anything different a few days back that might have caused this to happen, but apart from just normal email and web surfing, nothing else springs to mind.
    Help!

This solved my questionRe: mdworker process suddenly high CPU usage     Nov 28, 2012 1:41 AM    (in response to antobal)
In my case it was the BritannicaBookmark.mdimporter that was a PowerPC mdimporter. But it was not in \library\spotlight but inBritannica 12.0/Ultimate Reference Suite.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight.
You can see what spotlight plugin is choking on you by selecting the mdworker process in the Activity monitor and click on Open files and processes.
Sounds helpful, but I don't see "Open files and processes" in Activity Monitor. If I click on inspect, I get a choice to "Sample" processes. I get a system log that is a bit beyond me.

I was having the same problem, and a second level support person at Apple helped me solve the issue today:
Look in the \library\spotlight folders both at your drive root level and your user folder. These folders contain spotlight plugins, with the extension .mdimporter. Some of those plugins, if defective, can make the Spotlight indexing processes to run continuously.
Also sounds helpful, I found .mdimporter files in my system library, but nothing looked unusual. I didn't see a spotlight folder in my user library. I looked in application support and several other places. I used Onyx to repair permissions, rebuild spotlight index, clear caches etc, rebooted, it seems to be OK now.

  • Process chain design/schedule/monitoring/debugging

    hi  friends
pls  help  me on  the  issue of process chain design/schedule/monitoring/debugging
with  one  of  real  time  scenario, with help of t-codes and  detail  navigation
    thanks in advance
    venkatp

I have listed below the major informatin neede for your requirement...
1.Go to RSPC to view all the chains.
2.There click on any chain which you want to run/view.
3.Click on the <b>log view(</b>shift+F1) to view all the previous runs of the chain and whether they have failed or successful(here you can select 1 day, week ,month etc in the display range)
4.If you want to modify the chain /add a process type /change the variant  then click (Ctrl+F9) and do the changes.
Even  you can change the start variant in change mode for manual scheduling>right click on start process typeselect display variant--now select  start Direct Scheduling/ API  or Metachain
under <b>direct scheuling</b> option you can trigger it by setting start immediately /Date-time/After job/event whatever you want to do
Else you can make it part of a Metachain consisting of different such small local process chains.
Now Click on Schedule (F8) to run this chain manually.
    5.For <b>Monitoring</b> use Tcodes SM37/RSPCM/SM50
    Also you can use BWCCMS.
I usually prefer sm37 to view all the background jobs but SM50 is also useful.
6.<b>debug loop</b> can be used to debug a process chain.(you have to specify here the gap between one event been triggered and the next subsequent process starting)
to capture process in debugger go to  SM37(job overview) or to SM50(process overview)

  • Can I quit all processes in the Activity Monitor?

    Hello,
I have a problem with an application that might be caused by a background application but I don't know how to tell which one.
So I would like to know if I can quit all processes in the Activity Monitor without harming my computer?
    Thank you in advance,
    Barb

Ok, thank you! Someone said he wouldn't do it, then my friend said that in the worst case I'll just have to restart my computer but I was still worried about it.

  • MBP with 10.6.8: CPU usage high, no responsible processes shown in Activity Monitor. What causes this?

After using my computer for some time, CPU usage climbs to about 90% (ca. 65% user / 26% system) and fans run at high speed, but there is no processes that seem to use CPU (other than Activity Monitor itself ~1%).
This has happened a few times recently. It happens when I've used my computer for some time, hours or a couple of days (I usually put my computer to sleep when not using it but rarely shut it down). I've tried to quit all running apps incl. Growl, Dropbox, and anything that could be responsible to this but with no results. Putting computer to sleep for a long time doesn't help, cpu usage will climb instantly after wake up. Restarting system is the only thing that helps.
Most of the time I use my laptop with external monitor, lid closed and connected to power supply. When experiencing this, opening the lid causes fans to slow down, but CPU usage remains high and battery drains quick.
Any ideas what might cause this?
My MBP is 15" model with Core 2 Duo 2,66 GHz (MacBookPro 5,3), OS X version is 10.6.8, all available updates are installed.

    Perform a SMU reset.

Remove the anti-virus, it's running a root level process all the time that's taking your CPU and it's not necessary as there are no Mac viruses, Apple has the trojan angle covered already.
Always on anti-virus on a Mac is always a source of problems, also is MacKeeper, uninstall that here if you have it.
    http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/
If you need to clean the Windows filth off PC files, then use the free, run as you need, ClamXav.
    http://www.clamxav.com/
It seems your machine is used in a corporate enviroment, thus likely a rule that anti-virus must be used, you can avoid high CPU usuage by using the ClamXav instead.

  • Random Problem: Mail Process 140% in Activity Monitor/1 IMAP Account

    Hello,
A friend of mine is having some problems with his Mail Account. As stated in the title, the Mail process uses 140% of the CPU as shown in Activity Monitor, but it's a random error, it doesn't happen all the time. I believe he restarts the application to make it go away, as it slows down his computer, and the fan starts making a lot of noise.
    He has:
    OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4
    Mail 6.5 (1508)/No plugin
    1 IMAP account
A few thousand emails between the inbox, sent and a few folders
There isn't any problem with the mail server.
I've checked his account parameters, they seem fine.
He can send/receive emails (He told me so, and I've checked by sending a mail from his account to his account).

Please, if you have any idea on what we could do.
    Thank you for your help.

    Step 1
Take this step only if you have more than one incoming mail account, and only some of them are affected by the problem.
From the Mail menu bar, select
    Mail ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts
From the account list on the left, choose one of the accounts that is not giving trouble. Select the Account Informationtab if not already selected, and then uncheck the box marked
    Enable this account
Repeat with each of the other well-behaved accounts. Don't disable the problem accounts.
    Step 2
From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Click Check Again and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.
    Step 3
If you took Step 1, re-enable the disabled accounts.

  • Regading Process chains data load monitoring

    Hi All,
In my current project, I need to monitor process chains. I am kind of new to this environment as I had not done this before. My tasks are as follows.
    1. Process chains are scheduled for a periodic job for every on hour starting at 6 a.m and ending at 12 a.m. After that I need to stop the chain and reschedule it for next day at 6 a.m. How do I do that?
    2. Also if a delta process chain fails in one of the processes, I need to stop the chain before the next delta run starts filling the cube. How do I do that?
Also how to see why the process failed?
    Please do respond.
    Thanks in advance.

You can stop your process chain in SM37 tcode. Just select the schedules processes, and here you can see your process chain, just select it, and cancel it for next release.
You can restart it, just by clicking on Execute button. Before executing PC, just cross check by right clicking process chain, and go to change selection option of maiantain variant of start variant. And see if process chain schedule option is starting at 6A.M. or not, and also check it is selected as period job of ` hour or not.
You can see log of process chain by right clicking it, and checking the message. It depends on what option for next process is you selected, like if your next variant connected to failed variant is selected as only if success, then you don;t need to stop ot. It will automatically not go to next process. or right click and you can select stop.
By right clicking on failed process you can see the logs in details.

  • SSWitch process seen in Activity Monitor

First time I've ever NOT been able to find an answer by Googling....  Does anyone know what SSWitch is?  I see it in Activity Monitor and sometimes it takes up over 90% of my CPU and everything slows way down or freezes, and I need to restart my computer. It happens fairly often. I have a Mac Mini, running 10.6.8 and I have 24 GB free of 135 GB.
I've quit the SSwitch process a few times and it makes this horrible sound and then all the last things I've typed scan by in the Activity Monitor Search field.  Weird, right?  I don't understand.......

Hello, I'm not on Intel or 10.6 at the moment to see if it's a normal proccess.
I'd search for Name contains... with Find Any File...
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
Hold Option key down when clicking on Find to Find All in admin mode.

  • Why is the fan of my Macbook Air suddenly so noisy?

It has become very noisy. The fan is running constantly. I never heard the fan before. Has something broken. The performance has not changed but it takes much more to start up and shut down.

    Hi aschicchi,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Here are a few troubleshooting steps to address your fan issue:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
"...these symptoms may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:
    Fans
The computer's fans run at high speed although the computer is not experiencing heavy usage and is properly ventilated."
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC.  Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosingSleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • Job Schedular status running after killing process flow from OWF monitor

    Hi,
    PROBLEM SCENARIO:
Scheuled job called 'TEST' kicks off process flow called 'Child_load' under 'Parent_load_all' and gets stuck. I go into OWF (ORACLE WORK FLOW MONIOTOR) and kill both the process flows and then complete the Process flow run manually from OWB. Now, next day the scheduled job 'TEST' should execute 'Parent load all', but it doesn't do that instead it shows 'TEST' in 'Running' STATUS from yesterday when I see it in toad under Sched.Jobs. I have to drop the scheduled job and redeploy it from OWB in order for it to work.
Any idea why its doing that?
    Thanks in advance.

    hello
the status of the scheduled job should be 'running'
here is what i received from oracle support on that matter:
A scheduled job is always in BUSY status, till the moment it is stopped in the Control Center Manager.
If you open the Control Center Manager, goto the Location and expand the plus "+" in front of Scheduled Jobs. There should be your job DLOAD_JOB.
On the right bottom appears the dialog Control Center Jobs. And there is a tab "Scheduled". Click on that tab and you should see a green arrow in front of the job DLOAD_JOB. This means the job is running. (In fact it is not running but waiting to be executed again according scheduled time)
To stop the job to run according schedule, you can right-click on the job and choose "Stop". The green arrow will disappear and the status in the Repository Browser will be "Completed"
To start the job again, you can right-click on the job and choose "Start". The green arrow will appear again and the status in the Repository Browser will be "Busy"
    so according to this the scheduler job should be in status running;
    why it does not trigger your processes however is another thing;

  • Sudden strange behavior---monitor rez & DSL modem after wake from sleep??

Awright. Been running 10.4.5 on DP G5 2.5 for about a month now. Nothing changed, or nothing installed in last couple weeks when last couple days--
-wake from sleep, one of my 2 monitors has changed resolutions by it self
-even more stange, my 2Wire DSL wireless, (I'm hardwired to it, wife's iBook
connects thru AirPort) shows 'no Local Network'.
When I restart, everything's back to normal and working. So...why would everything be fine for 3 weeks or so, and with no new installs, or changes to system, this stuff start happening?
Yes, repaird permissions, DiscWarrior, and booted in Safe boot mode, and re-installed combo updater 4.5 2 times, and repaired permissions.
    Same thing.
    Ideas?
    Thanks,

    G5 DP 2.5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Very odd indeed. Open your Console (Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Console) and hit "Clear" on console.log. Put the Mac to sleep and wake it, and paste what's there in a reply. Then reset your settings and do the same for system.log. This should give us an idea of what's happening.

  • Suddenly a noisy fan!?

    Hi there,
This morning, when i turned on my 8~9 months old iMac 24', the fan (or fans - i have no clue) was boosted to max speed (I presume). This never occurred before and I never heard the fan so loud and making so much airflow.
    What gives?
I made a brief search at this forum and read a couple of posts where people suggested to reset the PMU, reset the System Management Controller.
    (HELP!)
To me, that is like Greek as I don't know where to start...
Also, I never installed programs that sets fan speeds etc... Should I use one? Which one?
Thx for your support, in advance. Please reply asap as I'm freaking out here....

Thanks for your ultra fast reply!
I followed your directions and all is well.
Matter of fact, I think just by unplugging it and letting it rest solved the problem, as when I turned it back on again - and before zapping the PRAM - it was silent again.
Anyways, I zapped the PRAM to be safe...
    =p
BTW. Just out of curiosity: What applications would you recommend to check/control the fan speeds?
    Thanks a lot.
