Processcor stuck at 2.0GHz and internet slow down, Blue tint

Hy there,
well this seems the new features of the Mac OS X 10.4.8.
Unbelievable, i've got blue tint all around my screen, the airport seems to have slow down, and i've got the processors running at most of the time at 2.0GHz.
I don't mind to have the processor at 2.0, but the blue tint and the airport, it's really annoying. Is there any way out to this mess????? Please!!!

How much free disk space do you have and how much memory do you have, running which operating system? Need that information to have any basis to make recommendations.

Internet slows down at night to less than 1Mbs, poor customer service

I'm having the same problem. I had originally 1-3 Mbps (Oct 2008 - Jan 2012). It used to work fine but then the speed seems to be slowing down as years passed by, I was getting less than 1Mbps most of the time so I upgraded to 3-7Mbps with 2 years holding period (Jan 2012 to Jan 2014). From Jan 2012 to Nov. 2012 it was fine, then starting Dec. 2012, the internet started to slow down at night. I'm getting 6-7Mbps during daytime and until around 9pm, then the internet slows down to less than 1Mbps after 9pm. Then starting mid January 2013, the situation seems to get worst, the internet slows down starting around 7pm, and then on the 3rd wk of January, the internet started to slow down as early as 5pm.
I've contacted the customer service twice. First, the person who attended remotely accessed my computer and after more than 15 minutes trying to find fault at my computer, wiring, set-up or wireless router (instead of the verizon network), he realized he doesn't have any excuses and instead instructed me to hard reset the modem. I told him that if I hard reset the modem, he will be disconnected to my computer. He said, "that's fine, I will call you you to give instruction on how to set-up the modem". After I have hard reset the modem, he never called up and I was left all by myself figuring out how to set-up the modem. I've contacted the customer service the 2nd time, a different person attended and exactly the same thing happened, the guy instructed me to hard reset the modem but never called up after he got disconnected. I guess this is their expertise, how to rudely leave the communication once they figure out that they can't resolve the problem.
Once the 2 years holding period is over, I will change to other internet provider and will never switch back to verizon again. I will never ever recommend verizon to my friends and will share them my experience with verizon.

This is one of the reasons we are leaving Verizon as well. We previously left Brighthouse because the initial deal sounded great, until the rebates expired. When the price jacked up, I told them they had to better because Brighthouse was much less expensive for the same package but their service didn't slow down at 7pm. The customer service agent said I really couldn't compare the two because Verizon has a superior quality of service. I asked, "Then why does my internet slow down around 7pm, because the Brighthouse service didn't do that". All the customer service agent has to say was, "That's not true." Nice try. He essentially called me a liar, about something I've seen firsthand, and I have experienced that same 7pm slowdown with a similar service we had in NC. Sorry Verizon, we left Brighthouse because we thought we were saving a few bucks, and getting a higher speed on our internet. Not true on both accounts and we're going back. PS To the person who made this initial blog post, I noticed there were 484 views but no "likes" - it's because that button won't let you click it, at least that's what I experienced on my end. I'm certain there are a lot more people out there who deal with this same issue and are quite frustrated.

I feel that my internet slowed down significantly.(WRT54G V5 Router)

When i first got my dsl and my router it was the fastest thing ive seen and i downloaded in seconds and i could play online games flawlessly, well now my internet slowed down and its not me being used to the fast speed. It takes me minutes to download a song and im experiencing serious lag play games, does anybody know the cause of this and wat do i do about it?

Compare the speed you will get when you connect the computer directly to the modem. If that is faster it is a router problem else it is simply a crowded internet connection and a problem with your ISP.

My external hard drive goes in to constant access mode and really slows down my computer

I'm using an external hard drive for time machine. After working for an hour or so the drive goes into a constant access mode and realy slows down my IMac. I look at activity monitor and everything looks good, no high CPU usage or memory issues. The only fix is to use the power button to shut down my IMac. After restart it works fine for a while.
If I turn off time machine the problem seems to not happen. I tried disk utility on the external hard drive and it says the dirve is fine. I change out external drives and the problem still occures. Any thoughts?

Apple does not officially support Time Machine backups to a drive at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme....likely because it is not reliable. You might want to review this Apple Support document to confirm:

So, we are not going to be able to provide you with much assistance on that issue.
Some users seem to be able to make this work....some have some problems....and some (like me) who have tried this have nothing but problems.
Sorry, I can't help on this one, but maybe another user who has had better luck will post to provide his secrets.
The iTunes and iPhoto libraries and files are my only copies now. I moved everything from my Macbook to the external then deleted the originals.
Not sure if you have thought about this.
If you deleted the "originals", then your only copy of your data is on one hard drive. You have no backups if the drive has a problem.
A minimum backup plan would be to have a copy of important data on two different drives. When....not if...one drive fails, you have the data on the "other" drive.
You have no "other" drive according to the information that you have provided.
Further.....Time Machine backs up the changes on your Mac. At some point....you cannot know when.....Time Machine will pick up the change on your Mac and delete the iTunes and iPhoto data from your Time Machine backups.
The files might stay there a few months, or even longer. But, I have seen instances where the files were deleted within a week or two.
So my advice would be to only delete data from your Mac that you can afford to lose.

I tried the link you suggest: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall but when I tried to "Run Now", I get the error message: " Troubleshooting cannot continue because an error has occurred... etc.... [code 80072F8F]" So googled this error & found a tool called (80072f8f) Repair Tool - I'm leery to download yet more stuff from non-microsoft sites -- any recommendations?

So I've been away for a while and when I got back to US I've had some issues.
It's the same internet connection as before, so I'm not sure if that's the problem.
When I use an internet browser everything goes well for a while and then internet suddenly slows down or shuts off , it dosen't show dissconnect or anything.
The only thing that happens is that pages won't load, or they load super slow. This usually happens for a few minutes.
I got my macbook this september and I'm careful with not blocking the fans.
The same thing happens when I play games online, the internet "shuts" off or slows down, freezing the game. I'm now unable to play that game because of this issue.
I really don't know what could've causes this and I'm not really sure how to check, I would appreciate any help.
When this issue happens it dosen't seem to be because of what I have open, how mane pages, or over heating.
(I'm not a hundred percent sure about the heat, it gets warm but hot acctualy heated up as in when it's running heavy applications)
I'd like a response fast because this affects not only my gaming (which I really miss) but also everything else like HW, since the page would die suddenly.

p.s It's a wifi connection and I don't have acess to use a cable. I'm trying to get a hold of the password to the internet since I only have it locked on my laptop as "go-to" connections.. My landlord has the password ..

Random internet slowing down on MacBook Pro with Retina Display

Hi there!
I have a 15" Macbook Pro With Retina Display, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Pro 1024 MB, OS X 10.9.2 (13C64). late 2013
for some reason since the last system upadate, my internet on my Macbook has been slowing down at random times during operation, sometimes I am using facetime and browsing Safari, facetime continues operating normally but everything else relted to the interent would show me that there is no internet connection "Basically i cannot use anything related to the internet unless i turn off and on the wirless adapter. and its not just while using Facetime and safari but Safari alone aswell "one second am using the internet no problem playing video on youtube and checking facebook and all the sudddent it stops loading and tells me that there is no internet connected though the wireless indicator shows otherwise.
I have really fast internet and am the only one using it, i have comcast Blast Plus "57 MB/S download speeds".
could u please help me get the bottom of this random occuring issue ?

Upgrade to Leopard causing internet slow down?

I just upgraded my G5 PowerMac from Tiger to Leopard. The Mac is plugged via ethernet directly into a NetGear router so I can also access internet wirelessly from my MacBookPro. Since the OS upgrade on my tower, I've noticed marked slow down in internet connectivity: web pages load really slowly and Mail takes forever to pull in my mail. Could Leopard be the culprit? Have run a speed test and results show that I'm getting what I'm paying for in terms of up/download speed, but wait times are ridiculous! Help!

If you look really carefully, you see me alternately scratching my head and hitting it against the wall . I'm almost clueless. I'm going to assume that your Internet access is via WiFi, right? If so, the only thing I can come up with is that when you mirror the display there's some kind of electrical interference that gets thrown up. (And I'll cheerfully admit that I could easily be totally wrong!) If I'm correct though, it is possible that switching your WiFi channel, selecting Internet robustness in the WiFi settings, or moving your notebook as far away from the display as possible might work.

Internet speed is a difficult thing. Checking the actual speed is difficult, in particular because the IP protocol is "best-effort" which means you have no guarantee of delivery and the speed also depends on how much traffic there is on the route to the destination. If a router on the route runs on 100% it will drop everything which it cannot handle which will slow the whole thing down, obviously. So at busy times it gets slower. Also the distance of the connections slows traffic down, e.g. trans-continental lines are slower. Basically you can just see how fast it is at the moment.
What you can measure to some extent is the speed of your connection to your ISP. The only real way to check this speed is using a speed test. Google for internet speed test and bandwidth speed test and you'll find some sites which offer a test run. The problem: for accurate measurements the site should be very close to you, ideally placed on your ISP's server. Only then you will be able to measure how fast you'll get the data through the internet connection. If it is further away many other factors on the route can influence the result or reduct the overall throughput.
If you ISP does not have a internet line speed test on its website, then ask them to add one. :-) Until then, try speed tests from servers of them. If they have a download server where you can download larger files (e.g. some documentation or larger free software packages, should be some 10MB at least), try to do that. If you have a webspace with them you could also try to upload larger files there and download them again. This should give you a good picture how fast the internet line to the ISP. Always remember to do the tests a couple of time to get an average.
To see, how far away a site is, do a tracert: open a command prompt window and run the tracert command. To check the distance of www.linksys.com enter "tracert www.linksys.com". The less hops you have the close it is and the better the results for the tests.
Also, to check how far the router slows the line down: connect the computer directly to the modem and do the tests again.

Dv5t-1000 CTO Sound sputters and OS slows down after a few hours

I am running Vista 32bit SP1 on a DV5T-1000 CTO machine, 4gb ram 2.0ghz c2d
I've noticed that after a few hours of use, usually after I leave the machine on alone and coming back to it, the sound completely degrades and the OS response completely slows down to a crawl. It is especially prominent if I go to something like youtube and watch a video. the whole thing sputters and stutters and sounds horrible and the os slows to a crawl.
however, if I pause the video, until it's fully loaded, THEN play it, all is well, and my OS goes back to full speed...
but the longer I leave my PC on the WORSE it gets. if I leave it overnight, and come back in the morning, the result is horrible. I have an audio alert to notify me if I have email. normally it just does a quick 'beeep-booop, taking about a quarter of a second' as it flashes the message in the corner. If i leave the machine on over night, the next morning the message will go 'b-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-p-p-p-p-p-p b-b-b-b-o-o-o-o-o-o-p-p-p-p-' and takes about 5 seconds to complete the notification!
At this point, if I try to restart the computer, or shut it down from the start menu, it does nothing. I go to start select restart, nothing. I go to start, select shutdown, nothing. I have to physically hold down the power button and kill the computer!
I've updated to all the latest drivers for all my components straight of the h-p site. I even tried upgrading my nvidia drivers to the latest from nvidia.com. that didn't work so I reverted back to the h-p ones (from LAST YEAR by the way, can we get an UPDATE!)
so please, tell me WHAT GIVES! In addition to using my computer for daily activities, I also produce music on it. And if I use my pc for more than 2 hours, and I want to work on music, I have to reboot or suffer as my computer completely locks up.
PS. this thing says I cant make a word using the letters h and p... is this a JOKE?!?!?!?!?!?!

anyway, I'm still at a loss for what to do, and it just occured to me that this may not be the place to get official help. are there h-p people here? or should I be contacting support? I have a feeling all they're going to tell me is to update the drivers...

Error message saying a script is running and is slowing down browser...stop script or continue?

While playing games my screen freezes up and a message pops up that says there's a script running which can slow down or stop my browser. Then it asks if I want to stop script or continue. I always click stop script, but it continues to happen periodically. (This is happening in Facebook, and sometimes MySpace).

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

High CPU usage and program slowing down

Hi. I have helped write a program in AS3 that uses classes. We have 2 frames in our movieclip that consists of an ant moving. We have a class of ants and can create 15 instances of them and the program runs fine with the ants walking around looking for food and going back to a corner that is their nest and going back out again. The ants also respond to mouse movement if the mouse pointer is near an ant.
If we create more than 15 ants, then the program starts to slow down. If we have 30 ants on the screen, then there is noticable stuttering of the ant movement. The CPU usage on a P4 2.5Ghz Pentium is around 50%.
Is this normal? or is something wrong?
I would have thought we would be able to scale up the number of ants easily.

I assume enabling cacheAsBitmap is set in the ant class Constructor, as we have tried that and it has helped, see below. We can now create 30 ants with very slight stuttering.
We have an ant class as below.

regarding the ants using a loop and using a controller class, I am not sure what you mean.
We are creating instances of the ants in the Ants.fla file which is in the Action file and add each new ant to an array. See below.
