Processing Multiple files ERROR

On a previous discussion, Steve Grisetti noted that problems with burning are sometimes associated with photo file size.  The post stated that Photoshop Elements has a batch processing selection that can resize photos all at once.  I went to Photoshop, selected process mulitple files, selected source, save in same as source, and resize images 1000.  When I viewed my photos after, about 50 of them were now duplicates of other photos.  For example, I put all my pictures in timeline order prior to doing my video. If I found a NEW photo after I had already named the photos I would place the NEW photo in the picture folder by adjusting accoridngly:  1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.1jpg., 3.jpg The 3.1 jpg would be the NEW photo.  After the processing, Photoshop replaced 3.1jpg with the picture in 3.jpg leaving me with 2 copies of the same photo and deleted the previous.
Does anyone know how to restore my photos back to the original "3.1jpg"? The backup is not accessible at this time.

Can you please try shortening the containing folder name as well?
Thanks

  • PSE 10 Processing Multiple Files - Error

Yesterday this was working; today it's not. When I try to process multiple files I get this error message:
"Could not complete the Process Mulitple Files command because the disk is not available."
I'm on a Mac - 10.6.8. The disk is not full.
I am trying to convert Open TIF files to JPGS. And like I said, this was working for me yesterday.
Here's what I've tried as far as troubleshooting:
    1. Going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10settings
    repair permissions and try again.
    2. restarting the editor while holding down command+shift+option, keeping the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. I did.
    3. restarting the computer
    4. shortening the file names
    5. moving the destination file
Still no success.  Any other suggestions out there that I may have missed?
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Can't process multiple files on one of three catalogs

After getting straightened out about getting my catalogs in order, which I've done, I've run into another problem. I have three catalogs one for People, one for Things and one I call Workplace where I try out things that are new to me so I don't mess up my main catalogs.
I've straightened out the files in my Things catalog. I have one catagory that contains images of autograph book pages from the late 1800s. Those scans were done in JPEG some time ago. I've tried using multiple processing to change these 55 images to psd in the original file to be consistent with the rest of the catalog. Each time the process fails.
In order to see what the problem might be I have copied the catagory file into both of my other catalogs and have been able to process the catagory file back into itself as psd. I have also created another small file in the Things catalog and tried to convert it and had the same result. The warning info box that appears when copying back into the same file states that the original files will be overwritten. The psd files do not overwrite the jpg files. They are added to the original file. That may be the way it is intended to be. That's not a real problem.
The real question is why can't I process multiple files in the original catalog. I have looked at the error file and, although I don't know much about most of it, I found the following in the first part of the file.
    crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION"
I run XP SP3 and PSE 8. I am a single user with administrator rights. I find no mention of a  permission filter in the PSE 8 program.
I'm stuck until I solve this problem and I need help getting it done. Any suggestions or information will be greatly appreciated.

One thing to try : instead of using 'process multiple files', can you use the 'export' feature in the Organizer to export the jpegs of that category in psd format into a new folder ?

  • Process Multiple Files in Bridge

I am trying to process multiple files in Bridge CS3 using Photoshop Elements 9.  It does not give me an error, it just does nothing.  Can someone help me figure out how to fix this?  It used to do this now I am having problems.

Can someone help me figure out how to fix this?  It used to do this now I am having problems.
Without knowing your workflow or your OS to my knowledge Bridge CS3 is not designed for Photoshop Elements 9 but for Photoshop CS3. There used to be a Bridge CS4 version bundled with PSElements 8 for a Mac but thats all I know about it.
However if you want to open files from Bridge in PS Elements you should either select the files you want and with right mouse click menu choose open with and from the submenu choose PSElements 9 or go to the Bridge preferences file type associations and change the file type you need in PSE to open in PSE9 by default.
If this is not the answer you expected could you be more specific about OS (windows/Mac) and what you mean with process (raw settings, batch actions or just open in, etc.)

  • Process Multiple Files in PSE 7

    I'm running PSE7.
I'd like to take a group of images (jpeg's) and do the following to them:
    Run QuickFix on them.
Save them as a new file with the name based on the original name plus some extra information.
Resize the jpeg's to a size suitable for the web. Or possibly a little larger.
It would really be great if:
I could use a 'tag' to select the images I want to process.
The tags on the new images are the same as the originals.
The new files are written into the same folder as the original. Even if multiple folders are needed due to
the tags bringing in images from multiple folders.
The new images would become part of a version set or stack along with the originals.
    Well, that's what's I'm interested in doing.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciatted!

The Process Multiple Files command applies settings to a folder of files. If you have a digital camera or a scanner with a document feeder, you can also import and process multiple images. (Your scanner or digital camera may need an acquire plug‑in module that supports actions.)
When processing files, you can leave all the files open, close and save the changes to the original files, or save modified versions of the files to a new location (leaving the originals unchanged). If you are saving the processed files to a new location, you may want to create a new folder for the processed files before starting the batch.
Note: The Process Multiple Files command does not work on multiple page files.
Choose File > Process Multiple Files.
Choose the files to process from the Process Files From pop‑up menu:
    Folder
Processes files in a folder you specify. Click Browse to locate and select the folder.
    Import
Processes images from a digital camera or scanner.
    Opened Files
    Processes all open files.
Select Include All Subfolders if you want to process files in subdirectories of the specified folder.
For Destination, click Browse and select a folder location for the processed files.
If you chose Folder as the destination, specify a file-naming convention and select file compatibility options for the processed files:
For Rename Files, select elements from the pop‑up menus or enter text into the fields to be combined into the default names for all files. The fields let you change the order and formatting of the components of the filename. You must include at least one field that is unique for every file (for example, filename, serial number, or serial letter) to prevent files from overwriting each other. Starting Serial Number specifies the starting number for any serial number fields. If you select Serial Letter from the pop-up menu, serial letter fields always start with the letter “A” for the first file.
For Compatibility, choose Windows, Mac OS, and UNIX® to make filenames compatible with the Windows, Mac OS, and UNIX operating systems.
Under Image Size, select Resize Images if you want each processed file resized to a uniform size. Then type in a width and height for the photos, and choose an option from the Resolution menu. Select Constrain Proportions to keep the width and height proportional.
To apply an automatic adjustment to the images, select an option from the Quick Fix panel.
To attach a label to the images, choose an option from the Labels menu, then customize the text, text position, font, size, opacity, and color. (To change the text color, click the color swatch and choose a new color from the Color Picker.)
Select Log Errors That Result From Processing Files to record each error in a file without stopping the process. If errors are logged to a file, a message appears after processing. To review the error file, open with a text editor after the Batch command has run.
Click OK to process and save the files.

  • Process Multiple Files, PDF failing

I am trying to use the option to process multiple files in PSE 9. I select the source folder, destination folder, and no matter what I select as a converting option I get the error.
"There were no source files that could be opened by photoshop elements"
Despite the fact that PSE successfully opens each of these PDF files in the background, it just doesn't do any processing and displays the error.  So now if I go back under the process multiple files menu, and select Process Open files, and click OK, it will now convert each of the files that PSE left open during the previous failed attempt.
In this particular test case I am trying to convert 10 1 Page PDF files to PNG format, but again the destination format selected does not matter as it fails no matter what. This seems like an obvious case of some sort of bug based on the fact that PSE is successfully opening and converting each file, it just won't do it when the folder is selected as the source.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, as we are currently running a trial of 9.0 to verify it can do everything we need it to do around the office. We are currently running PSE 2.0 so needless to say we are looking forward to running software thats just slightly newer if we can get some problems worked out.

Did you ever figure this out?
I have 100 single PDF files that I would like to convert to JPG.  There are online tools like zamzar.com to do this but there are limits on number of files, or if combined on the size.
I have Adobe Photoshop Elements PSE 11 and using the batch processing "Process multiple files" option I can select that "from" directory, it thinks awhile, opens them all in Adobe Photoshop with the same error you indicated above: "There were no source files that could be opened by photoshop elements".  It does not make sense because as you say, I can then simply "Save As" and convert into jpg format.  Opening a PDF file without multi support works just fine, as well.  The tool does what I need, just doens't work in the batch mode.
    Thanks!

  • Process Multiple Files jpegs grayed out

Process Multiple Files in Photoshop Elements 10 for Mac OS 10.9.2 worked on several folders of jpegs then stopped working. Any folder that contains jpegs has the jpeg files grayed out. I get the error message, "The source folder you have selected is empty." However I can work on the jpeg files in that folder if I do it one at a time. I tried quitting the program then going back in and still I get the same error message.

The folder I was trying to process was in another folder with a
backslash in the name. Once I removed the backslash, Process Multiple
Files worked again. Thanks for the quick response and the helpful hint.

  • Process Multiple Files on a Mac.

Erroro message is "Could not complete your request because of a disk error".
I have a new Mac Book pro with the new Lion OSX. I've installed PSE 10. I used to have a PC and I absolutely love Photoshop Elements. I especially love being able to batch process a lot of photos at one time automatically.
It seems that PSE is not finding the photo files. They are there but they are not being picked up by the program. Is this program not compatible with this computer or what. I am getting very frustrated and feel I have wasted my money on buying a program that once was a very easy program to use. How do I get PSE to work in the process multiple files function.
I've read all the tutorials and researched some of the answers provided in this forum but the one that may have helped me is not an easy problem solving exercise. What am I doing wrong.
I notice that PSE will not find files on I Photo either, so I have to create seperate files to even begin to start to find the photo files in PSE.
Looking forward to a fix on this as I have been a huge PSE fan.
    Phil...

The editor prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts.
Hold down the Cmd+Opt+Shift keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or go to applications and hold down the three keys whilst double clicking on Photoshop Elements Editor application.
You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes

  • How do I process multiple files and turn them from raw to jpeg

How do I process multiple files and turn them from raw to jpeg. Ive tried and it seems to go through the files but doesnt seem to process them or store them in the selected folder

Yes that was the first thing I did. Then I used the process multiple files and selected a new folder to put them in and selected use open files and selected to turn them into jpeg. The images flash on the screen like they are being processed, but the folder never appears in library. Is it possible because there are a couple 16 bit files open that this corrupts the task. Do I need to create the folder first. Will elements not create the folder on its own.
    Thanks Vince

  • PhotoShop Elements 10...I need help with font size for watermark in Processing Multiple Files.....

I have PhotoShop Elements 10, and I am trying to watermark some of my photos, I have successfully added them one at a time with a font large enough to be seen. Now I am trying to add it using the "process multiple files" , I can do that but the font even at 72 the largest setting is so small on the photo you can barely read it! Can anyone help me the size larger on my photos?

Thank you, Michael. I just watched the Russell Brown video again for CS6 and looked real closely at his settings in ACR and he was using 240ppi. I changed my file in image size to 240 ppi and then ran the script and the layer didn't change size this time when I ran the script.
It is kind of annoying to have to change the image size everytime I want to run this script and then change it back again as most of my files are 300 ppi. I used to run his script for edit in ARC in CS5 and recall that if I just remembered to change the settings in ARC to 300 ppi while the script was playing and before pressing 'open' that the image wouldn't change size during the raw processing, but this doesn't seem to be working in CS6. Do you know of a way to use this script and not have to change the ppi for the image to 240?
    Thanks again.

  • Sub folders and Process multiple files in Photoshop Elements 10

I am looking to apply the same adjustments to numerous images in numerous sub-folders and overwrite the original images.
Using the Process Multiple Files options,  I added the main folder (which contains no images) to the Source field, selected the Include All Subfolders tick-box, also selected the Same as Source tick-box (which warns you original files will be overwritten) and then completed the image adjustments I required.   However, after running the process all the adjusted images were saved in the main folder and did not overwrite the originals contained in each sub-folder.  Does anyone know if there is a setting I am missing to replace the images in the sub-folders or is this by design ?

    bossti a écrit:
hi, so is it possible to keep the same subfolder structure as output location? regards! bostjan
    No...
I think you are going to run great risks in trying to use batch process like 'process multiple files' or 'export' while relying on subfolder structures.
    - the organizer is much more powerful with its database and keywords management than a folder structure organization,
    - Batch processes are limited in Elements
    - 'Good practice' calls for keeping originals intact.
What are you wanting to do exactly ? We might be able to suggest alternative workflows.

  • Jpgs are greyed out in process multiple files.

I have a new iMac, with Elements 11, all jpgs are greyed out when I try to process multiple files.
    Dawk

Are these photos in iphoto? You can't access the iphoto library directly. Writing into that library from outside iphoto is the fastest way to corrupt it and lose the photos. Export the photos from iphoto and work on the exports. If that's not it, where are these jpegs located?

  • Problem Processing Multiple Files in Photoshop Elements

I have always used the process multiple files option in the File drop down menu without issue. I recently completed editing some photos as I have done before and wanted to process them into a smaller JPEG file and add my watermark. I set all the settings in the process multiple files program and clicked OK. The first image came up and appeared to process but then a "save as" dialogue box came up. The box was asking to save the file as a photoshop file and not a JPEG. I cant seem to find out why it is doing this. I have restarted the program and my computer running it and I have tried running the same process on other files with the same result.

    Which Elements version ?
Was it a raw format file ?
If so, is your bit mode menu in the middle of the bottom bar of the ACR dialog set to 16 bits ? Try setting it to 8 bits and save a raw file in 8 bits before trying the process multiple files again to see if that makes a difference.

  • Process Multiple Files in Photoshop Elements 4.0.

    Please Help,
I have a lot to learn about digital photos and when I retire I will have time. However, I have 4000+ digital photos at 900.0 plus KB (approximate 42.66x32 72ppi) each. Now I discover they take up lots of room (my backup is huge) and need to be resized to properly email.  I figure I will resize them all at the same time. I found process multiple files via the file drop down menu > Process Multiple Files by selecting one photo and opening Standard Edit. I then selected Folder in the process files from drop down menu, found my, large, digital photo folder via the browse button, checked include all subfolders, destination same as source, and quit at image size.
Am I on the right track? What is a reasonable image size? PSE uses width, hight, and resolution which is confusing when everyone else talks about file size. I found the PSE help information difficult to understand. I want to do this right the first time and would appreciate your suggestions.
I will change the settings on my Pentax Optio W30 Camera; after I get some help regarding the size issue, so my future photos will be easier to manage.
    Thanks

Your images are already smaller than expected.  The Pentax Optio W30 is a 7 mega pixel camera, which will produce images of about 3+ MB, when set to highest quality.
It is recommended to shoot at the highest possible quality, keep those images as "originals" and make copies for other purposes, such as email attachments.
If you are planning to resize and overwrite your originals, you will cause serious quality deterioration.
My suggestion is that you 1) set your camera to the highest quality and 2) get an exterior hard drive for storage.

  • Process Multiple Files in PSE7 - o/p files to Organizer?

    I'm using PSE7.
When I run 'Process Multiple Files' from the File menu in Editor I
can create a new set of jpegs. For example, I can run them through
the Quick Fix processes. If I create new files as output rather than
overwriting the originals, is there a way that I can get those new files
    back into Organizer automatically?
And the follow up questions would be
    1) Do the original tags all get retained in the new files?
    2) Can the new files be part of a version set with the originals?
    Thanks for any thoughts!

    Thanks!
From what I can tell Process Multiple Files allows input from three places:
    1. A folder. 2. Import (like a scanner?) 3. Open files.
So it might be nice if it had a 4th option that would allow files to come out
of Organizer via tags, albums, etc. And if that option was chosen then it
would be nice to save the tags, and create version sets optionally.
But my guess is that from a product design perspective the thinking is
that most people would rather work in Organizer and then perform
actions on a logical set of photos from there. Certainly, that would be my
    preference.
What I'd like to do is do be in Organizer, select my images via tag(s),
run QuickFix on them, (all of that I can do), then reduce the file size,
and save the finished product as a version set. Then only thing I can't do
in PSE7 is reduce the file size. Of if there is I don't know how to do
    it automatically.
    Well, thanks for the help!
