Processing phase of iDVD - Makes all other activities come to a crawl?

TIA
When using iDVD8, during the whole processing periods, the operating system slows to a crawl, email, Finder actions, everything. When I try to use anything else, spinning ball of death runs and runs.
Is this normal?
This used to occur only during the Encoding Audio phase.
I upgraded to Leopard
Run ALL diagnostics
I have 173 gig free space on my HD available
4 Gig Ram
In the activity monitor it is using 220%+ of the CPU
Is this normal?

Not on your machine it's not. There's something else going on as well. What's activity monitor show within Utilities folder in terms of CPU percentages and which apps are consuming the most cpu and memory?
If that doesn't help please set all energy saver controls to zero. please also repair permissions and do a full restart of your mac.
btw .... do you have any 3rd party externals connected currently (ie, ext USB2 or FW HD/s)?
If so, properly eject them and try again without the device/s connected.

Normally you would only do that for controlling access a specific object or resource, so only one thread can access the object or resource at a time.
The basic threading operations are suited to such uses, rather than managing the order a sequence of processes.
You could also use join, but that requires that all the threads threads you want to pause have a reference to the thread you're creating, and need a mechanism to change their behaviour when the thread is started, rather than having to the object used for synchronisation passed to them when they are started. However, with synchronization you can't guarantee which thread gets the lock on the object in which order, so you may want to do it using join.
The more important question is why you want the other threads to pause.

All other websites come up fine; Twitter does not. No one else is having trouble with it.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

When ever im in a skype call using my headphones (Turtle Beaches that has a usb too to use) All My volumes go through the speaker off the laptop and only my call is in the headphones? Help?
I tried clicking Do Nothing in communications and ive went to the headphones settings and clicked no priorities but still happens!

When recording all other channels come up with a w...

This has only started since the second stage digital changeover, I have tried re-booting the system and unplugging the ariel to enable a fresh update of all channels but it's made no difference. Previously after the first stage changeover the blocking problems and weak signal warnings that started occuring evry couple of days were cleared by powering down and then switching back on.

Apparently TalkTalk mail will work with Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 ''if'' you set the browser to ''lie'' to TalkTalk mail by saying that you are still using version 3.6.

Note: when you open about:config the first time, it will display a warning message that you should be careful with the changes you make. That's definitely good to bear in mind.

Running Win7 and ITunes 10.6 - loaded all my old CD's in one user acct. I want to share these with all other users on the machine without reloading the CD's and without having to make copies of their disk images, if possible. Also, want them on my WinXP

Running ITunes 10.6, on a Win7 Home Premium SP1. Just loaded about thirty of my favorite CD's on my user account.
I would like to be able to make all of them available to my other family members in their accounts on my machine, without needing to reload them all and without having to store their disk images multiple times. Can this be done, and if so, how?
And can I copy the contents of a folder across to my wife's WinXP SP3 machine, and have them made available to each of us in our login accts on that machine?
(There are three of us, plus an admin and a backup admin account, on each.)
I will be really grateful if someone can help me do this for my family members, as we have shared the music on these CD's over the years, and I would like to make them available on the desktop for each of us.
Also, I'd like to be able to load them, or a subset of them, to my wife and son's IPods. Any Tips, Traps or Tweaks for that process, as well?

Not sure about the OS level for the IPods. I am doing this for my wife and son, using an account here created for my son, which he shares with me for support purposes. But I do know they both have IPods, and our PC's and their OS's were described above.

You can move the iTunes folder to a separate drive on your pc an then configure each account to use this drive / folder as iTunes library ... The problem is, that iTunes by default stores everything in your personal music folder which is separate for each user account in windows (and by default is on "C" drive).
I create a separate partition on every pc/laptop (and map a drive name) where I store music, videos and other mass data. This will also keep the "C" drive small, which is backed up from time to time and so my backup is also small.

When I make a Book in Aperture and print a PDF proof version, all the modified photos (marked with Badges) are totally distorted. What is causing this? All other - non-modified photos - appear to be fine.

When I make a Book using Aperture 3 and print a PDF proof version, all images that have been modified within Aperture are distorted in PDF form. All other images appear ok.

As if only the corrected layer would have remained on the photos.
So the geometry of the pictures is correct - they are not skewed or something? Only the colors and intensities are wrong?
. Only in printing when it is converted to PDF file some photos are unrecognizable.
Is it the printed pdf or the pdf viewed on the screen? If it is the printed copy you need to fix your print settings.
Does Aperture give a warning, that the high resolution images are not available?
We had some cases of books not being able to be printed, and that was due to a broken reference to the original files. Only the book could not access the originals, all other parts of Aperture could. To check for this, try to add one more adjustment to one of the images in question. Is it possible? Are the edits reflected correctly in the pdf of the book?
We were shooting with 3 cameras, Lumix5 shooting RAW, Cannon 100 shooting JPEG and SONY alfa850 shooting RAW.
Have you tried to reprocess the raw of the edited images? (Photos > Reprocess Raw)
Also try, to remove one of the images from the book and to add it again. That usually helps, if Aperture has lost the connection to the originals used in the book.
If you no have done so already, repair (and if necessary rebuild) the Aperture library.

Is it that you are using a PDF-based form? Did you copy and paste the Yes/No fields all the way down your form? If so, then all of the yes/no boxes are copies of each other and have the same name and properties in the PDF.
For example, if you had:
     Question 1 and Question 1 Yes/No checkboxes
     Question 2 and Question 1 Yes/No checkboxes
     Question 3 and Question 1 Yes/No checkboxes
     Question 4 and Question 1 Yes/No checkboxes
Then whatever answer you selected in Question 1 would populate down through the rest of the form.
Changing the Yes/No field properties in questions two through four would eliminate the problem.

Check the General -> Restrictions settings and see if perhaps the iTunes app is turned off there. If not, the app may have been inadvertently moved to another home screen or dropped into a folder. Do a search for the app or try resetting the Home screen layout: Choose General > Reset, then tap Reset Home Screen Layout.

Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

As always seems to happen, the next thing you try ends up working. Well almost. I
Deleted the contact and sent a message from that phone to mine -- problem persisted
Deleted the person from my FAVORITES in the phone app (the entry still existed even though the contact had been deleted). This worked!!!
It's kind of weird that the favorites in the phone app were somehow affecting notifications in Messages for a contact that had been deleted, but there you are.

Since upgrading to Maverick I cannot send/share photos through iPhoto. Dropbox says "not connected to server". All other online email activities work just fine.

THis sounds like you either need to (my personal suggestion) change your email client to Mail in the iPhoto preferenceemail if you want to use the iPhoto client under the accounts tab delete your account and re-enter it
