Processing RAW files in Adobe Photoshop Elements 11

Hello.. Am I able to process RAW files in Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, or do I have to purchase Lightroom 5 in order to access ACR?
I have a Panasonic Lumix G5 camera.
Thank You,
Bob Rubenstein

Yes, but first update the camera raw plug-in from the menu in Full Edit (Expert Mode)

  • Working with Raw Files in Adobe Photoshop Elements 11

I shoot in Raw format with a Canon EOS 60D, when I import raw files into Elements it first loads Adobe Camera Raw. After working on an image & then opening the file in Elements 11  ( Expert tab ) it offers a variety of options to enhance the image. It seems to be doubling up OR ... my question is , can I import the file directly into Elements 11 & work on it without using Adobe Camera Raw ?
    Thank You

Thank you for your reply, I use Adobe Camera Raw to edit most of my photos & then convert to tif. I bought a book called " The Photoshop Elements Book " with tutorials for Elements 11 wich seems to confuse. I have sucessfully imported raw files directly into Elements 11 & worked on them. By doubling up, I meant how much work should I do in Adobe Camera Raw, as it seems everything you need to edit/enhance/convert is in Elements 11.

  • Just bought Nikon D600, can't open the raw file from my Photoshop element 9, please adivise.  Thanks

Can't open the raw file in my Photoshop Element 9 from my new Nikon D600, please help. many thanks
    Brian

    Hi,
The D600 requires camera raw version 7.3 or later - that is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 9.
    You need to either
    1) upgrade to Photoshop Elements 11 or 12
    or
    2) you can download the free Adobe DNG converter to convert you NEF files to DNG files and then PSE 9 can read the DNG files
The latest version of the DNG converter that you can use will depend on your operating system.
    For XP or Vista :
    DNG Converter 8.3
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5694
    For Windows 7 or 8
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.5
    For Mac
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.5

I need a new disk or a download file for adobe photoshop elements 9.  I need to reinstall this and my disk is not working.

What happens when you try? Are you sure you've got the right disc--you have discs for both mac and windows operating systems?

  • Is there a possibility to open a EPS-File within Adobe Photoshop Elements 11?

    Hi there!
I'd like to know, if there is a way to open and render a .eps file within Photoshop Elements 11?
    Greets
    Noah

    EPS Tiff Preview
    Use File->Open As
    Generic EPS (AI3,AI4,AI5,AI6,AI7, AI8,PS,EPS.AI,EPSF,EPSP)
Drop EPS Parser.8BY (C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8/9/10\Locales\en_US\Plug-Ins) from some recent old versions in E11 Plugins folder

  • I cannot download and save an eps file in Adobe Photoshop Elements 12

I am unable to open and save an eps file in Adobe Photoshop Elements 12

No, EPS is one of the formats that adobe removed support for, starting with PSE 11.

  • What do I need to get the 6.7 update [to read the CR2 canon raw files] installed in Photoshop elements 10 [new computer with Windows 8]?

I downloaded the zip file for the 6.7 update and unzipped it. I double clicked on the .exe file and it would not install. What do I need to get the update installed?

Is this the 6.7 camera raw updater you tried?
It's specifically for pse 10 on windows.
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10
    What camera do you have?

  • Importing .wmv files from adobe photoshop elements

My mother-in-law created a slideshow with adobe photoshop elements 6.0 and I can get into into a .wmv file but can not import it to imovie. I saw another post about changing the code on the PC but can't seem to find a place to do that on the program. This is a one time thing and I don't want to pay for a conversion software that I will never use. Any ideas? I thought about just burning a DVD of the slideshow and then trying to import it that way, will that work?

I saw another post about changing the code on the PC but can't seem to find a place to do that on the program
In the slide show editor, Output>PDF would be your only other option, and you would lose music, transitions, etc. if you choose that.

  • Processing Large Files in Adobe Premiere Elements 12

    Greetings,
I am trying to process video files that are approximately 500 to 750mb in Adobe Premiere Elements 12.  I am running on Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel i5 processor 2300, 8gb DDR3 and Invidia GeForce GT520 Video Card.  It is choking so bad I cannot edit my videos at all. Reliable technical support here says that it is the limitations of the software and upgrading my hardware would be next to useless.  Can you please clarify, unfortunately Premiere Pro is out of my budget.

    Lucidity2014
I have gone over your thread again. I do not believe that project settings are at the core of file size being a limitation in your workflow. And, at face value, the format of AVCHD.mov (1920 x 1080 @ 24 progressive frames per second) should be supported by Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7 64 bit (and you have QuickTime latest version installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 12).
This is what I would like you to do to demonstrate whether or not, in your situation, the project settings are at the core of your file size limitation issue
    1. Open a new Premiere Elements 12 project to the Expert workspace. Go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
    2. In the Change Settings dialog, make sure that the project preset is set to
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p24
Before you close out of there, make sure that you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project" in the new project dialog which is the last dialog you should see as you exit that area.
    3. Then back in the Expert workspace of the project, import your AVCHD.mov (500 to 750 MB/4 minutes 49 seconds) using the program's Add Media/Files and Folders.
    a. Do you see an orange line over the Timeline content when it is first dragged to the Timeline?
    b. Do the problems exit as before?
Click on Start button. In the Search field above the Start button, type in System Information. In System Information, please tell us what you see for:
    Total Physical Memory
    Available Physical Memory
    Total Virtual Memory
    Available Virtual Memory
    Page File Space
From you initial report, your installed RAM is supposed to be 8 GB.
    Previously you wrote
The filepath is; C:\Users\Brian Ellis\Desktop\GBC Video for the Web\Video Footage
I assumed the free hard drive location would be the same properties as the C: Drive (1.07 TB), but please advise if I should move off the desktop?
Just in case, after you have ruled out the project settings factor, please change the file path so that the file is saved to Libraries/Documents or Libraries/Videos. Then start a new project, go through setting the project preset manually, and then in the project Add Media/Files and Folders from the new hard drive save location (Documents or Videos). Moving forward do you have an external hard drive for video storage?
We will be watching for your progress.
    Thank you.
    ATR
Add On Comment...To give others a view of the project settings that you have been using for the problem situation, please go to the Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and tell us what is there for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio - even if the fields appear to be grayed out. That should answer everyone's questions.

  • Raw files - iPhoto and Photoshop Elements

I am shooting raw files on a Canon 400D. They upload into iPhoto 6.0.6 ok but I can't open them in PE4.0.1 for editing. I can drag the .CR2 file onto the desktop but PE doesn't recognise it. Am I missing something or am I going about this the wrong way? So far as I can see, iPhoto and PE should both recognise .CR2 files.
    Thank you for any help,
    Geoff.

Also, you will need a more up to date version of ACR than the one that shipped with PE 4. Go to adobe's site and download the next-to-latest version of ACR (some problems with ACR 4.4 so I'd hold off on that and get 4.3.1):

  • Why i can't open my raw file in adobe photoshop cs6... and i use camera Canon 650D

why i can't open my raw file?

You probably need to update your Camera Raw plug-in for CS6 to something new enough to understand the 650D raw files.
The usual way you’d do this would be Help / Updates in PS.

  • Editing non-raw image files in Adobe Photoshop

    Hi,
I am currently digging into the world of Lightroom and setting up a work flow which in my case needs to include editing non-raw files in Adobe Photoshop.
Please bear in mind that I am quite new to Lightroom so I am not sure I have found all shortcuts and settings to manipulate.
I will explain what I trying to do (and why) and hope that the community can comment and help put if possible.
I myself shoot almost everything in RAW format, and I have been using Photoshop (PS) and Camera Raw (ACR) for some years now. I am now on Photoshop CS6.
But now the amount of images to handle requires a CMS, so I went for Lightroom 4 - hoping/believing that I would find an effective and efficient work flow integration between the two Adobe products.
But I am more and more also helping others to enhance their images, and I most often get jpg files as image source.
I am used to using PS layers, filters, smart objects etc extensively to do what I want to do.
OK, I admin that I already use ACR quite a lot, and sometimes even as the only tool even for jpg images.
I have began diving/snorkeling with friends and often the images we bring back home is in jpg format, and so far I still believe that the best image "restoration" can be done in Photoshop using adjustment layers, channel mixing and filters to get satisfactory results.
So now on to my concerns and issues:
    1) Lightroom user interface efficiency - "Edit in"
When I want to edit a jpg image in Photoshop I :
    action
    comment
    - left click image to select it
ok, I agree this is needed
    - right click image to bring up context menu
ok, I agree this is needed
    - move cursor to "Edit in", and wait for another context menu
    ok, ...
    - click "Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS6"
    Yes that's want I want
    - Lightroom presents the "Edit Photo with Adobe Photoshop CS6" selection menu.
Yes I know, I saw it the last
    nnn times I did it
    - if I need option "Edit a Copy" or "Edit Orginal" I move cursor again, left click to select ,
move cursor to Edit and left click
    - and finally Lightroom sends the jpg image to Photoshop as a jpg image
No, I want a tiff file since that
is what I have set up in
    preferences
OK, I know that I can also use the keyboard instead of mouse for this, but the number of actions required from my side is pretty much unchanged.
For a quick working, Lightroom and PS skilled person, this is just annoying.
Is this effecient?     Well it depends. For Lightroom beginners this is good. But for me it is a true annoying obstacle
    2) Lightroom "Edit in" - is it effective
Is this effective?     I say no.      I have specified in preferences that I want PS to receive a TIFF file in Adobe RGB 1998 color space
Also, I cannot change to TIFF in PS without losing the link between the two images. (If I do, the new TIFF file is not imported by Lightroom, so I have to that manually)
I have found out that I can choose the path "Select image - select "Open as Smartobject in Adobe Photoshop".
This will give me a tiff file, and when saved in PS the jpg and tiff files are linked and Lightroom has automatically imported the tiff file into the Catalog.
What I need / what I would like to know / what I would like to have:
    * Is there a (customizable) keyboard shortcut that enables me to: Select Picture + Use shortcut  - and then I end up in Photoshop (with the Edit option I use 90% of the time) ?
    * Is there a preference that I can set so that jpg images also are opened as tiff files in Photoshop per default?
    * Is there a way to select multiple images and launch them all in Photoshop (and keeping the link between the jpg and tiff files) ?
    * I would like a preference setting allowing me to choose that any new file coming back from Photoshop (after "Edit in" ) is written to a sub-folder, or to a specific folder set by me.
This would align with my work flow for jpg handling, where the jpg is the "original" and the tiff file is what will eventually end up as image "master" (from where I print,  or produce web / HDTV jpg's).
    * Is there a way to automatically launch a Photoshop Action on the file coming from Lightroom?
This would also help in my work flow. E.g. I have currently 100 jpg's and avi files which are UW (under water shots) and the adjustment layers I build are always the same (to start with).
Of course, I can launch the Action once I am in Photohop  - but again, doing 1-5 times is ok, doing it more than 100 times ...
    * I am skilled computer programmer  - can I use Lightroom SDK to write plug-ins to achieve the above enhancements ?
    Regards
    Bosse W

    * Is there a (customizable) keyboard shortcut that enables me to: Select Picture + Use shortcut  - and then I end up in Photoshop (with the Edit option I use 90% of the time) ?
-- The keyboard shortcut Command/Ctrl+E will perform steps 2-4 in your above list. You only have to click the Edit button, as the last choice (Edit Original, Edit Copy, Edit Copy with LR adjustments) will be remembered.
    * Is there a preference that I can set so that jpg images also are opened as tiff files in Photoshop per default?
-- No, a JPEG in Lightroom will always open as a JPEG in Photoshop. If you have made changes to the file that are not supported by the JPEG format (e.g. added a layer) when you go to save the file, it will be saved as either a TIFF or PSD, based on the preference in Lightroom.
    * Is there a way to select multiple images and launch them all in Photoshop (and keeping the link between the jpg and tiff files) ?
-- Yes, select all the files you want to edit, and use the keyboard shortcut, menu command, or right-click context menu command.
-- No, there is no automatic way to do this. If you use the Edit a Copy method, the copy is created instantly in the same folder as the original.
-- Yes and No, this is not something that can be setup in Lightroom, but you can set it up in Photoshop using the Script Events Manager.
    * I am skilled computer programmer  - can I use Lightroom SDK to write plug-ins to achieve the above enhancements ?
    -- Yes: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/photoshoplightroom.htmlhttp://www.adobe.com/devnet/photoshoplightroom.html
