"Processing" wheel keeps turning no matter what ....

... even when I reboot Aperture and/or restart my Macbook Pro.
Hi,
Why is that and how can I stop it? I am also concerned as to what it means in terms of the software's stability.
Thanks a lot,
Raphael

What happens now post-Aperture!?
There is not yet much information by Apple about the future of the photo software. Apple has released information, that Aperture will be updated to work with MacOS X 10.10.x, Yosemite; also, that it will be possible, to migrate Aperture libraries to the new Photos.app and that the Photos.app will support advanced features of Aperture. So you will be able to use Aperture for at least one and half year longer, or even longer, if you do not upgrade to Yosemite. I will wait to see the new Photos.app, before I decide what to do. The new extensions architecture of Yosemite will allow for very powerful plug-ins.
I think, it is worth it to wait and see.

  • Since I installed OSX Lion on my MacBook Pro, sometimes after login, the colored wheel keeps turning and I can't do anything

Since I installed OSX Lion on my MacBook Pro, sometimes after login, the colored wheel keeps turning and I can't do anything. When I click on some icon or in the menu, no happens.
After a long time (more than 1 hour), I decide to switch off my Mac holding the button down and when I boot and log in again, it works normally.
Remark: When I logoff, I do not ask to keep my open programs for the next session.
    I have a MacBook Pro 2010 with 4GB Ram.

  • Cant receive email, wheel keep turning

my wheel keeps turning and cant recieve email

I've now emptied the email from the phone and attempted to delete the account but it keeps showing up.  I've tried deleting it and then returning to the settings and then re-entering the mail under settings and the account still shows.  I've repeated attempting to delete the account and then rebooting, and the account still shows.  I've attempted to reenter the information to set up a new account, but it won't allow it as the old account is still there.
The one thing I've noticed is that it appears that the phone is continually trying to connect/check for mail as the battery is draining at a rate about four or five times normal.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks for your help.

  • My MacbookPro has frozen up.  It is not responding.  restart.  Tle spinning wheel keeps turning.  What to do?

Am not able to do anything: log off, shut down, bring up console window, etc.  Pressing power on/off button has no effect.  The spinning wheel keeps spinning.

Insert your OS installer disk. Then hold down the power button until it shuts off. Then press the power button and hold down the 'c' key so it boots to the installer disk. From the Utilities menu select Disk Utility. Then select your hard drive and then select Repair Disk.

  • I have the first iPad, and it keeps crashing no matter what program(safari) app (iTunes) or game I use. I check the updates regularly and I'm up to date. Why does it keep crashing and how can I fix it?

I have the first iPad (which is considered ancient). I'll open safari and no matter what I'm searching after a few minutes it crashes (it will close safari and bring me back to the main app screen). The last few days I've been searching song on iTunes, and I have the same issue. It closes my iTunes and brings me to the main app screen.
I have checked my updates and everything is current for this iPad. It's a 64gb iPad with 54gb of available space so I know it's not a storage issue.
Does anyone have some pointers on how to keep it from crashing all the time?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • My browser keeps refreshing, no matter what page i'm on, or how many tabs I have open.

It happens every time I open Firefox. It doesn't matter what site it is, or how many tabs are open. He keeps refreshing all of them.

A few problems could cause this. Try Firefox in safemode, also review what is set as your homepages.

  • Help! Mid 2009 MacBook Pro won't boot! Just apple and the wheel keeps turning... Out of AppleCare , survived the hurricane, NOW WHAT?

Won't boot. Won't turn off. No sounds. Just wheel turning around and around. What to do???

Don't turn it off, perform a emergency backup proceedure to a new drive.
    Emergency backup procedure
Drag and drop copy your users file folders (music, pictures, documents etc) to a regular external powered drive as soon as possible.
Do not use, setup or trust only TimeMachine at this troubled time as it will copy corrupted data and we need just your users files safe just in case. TimeMachine cannot be used with a Windows PC.
Unmount (right click > eject) and disconnect all external drives once the backup process is completed.
    Note:
If you have any over 4GB sized files, those won't copy to a standard formatted FAT32/MSDOS drive from the factory, if you need to save these 4GB+ files use another blank/empty drive and use Disk Utility to format it 1 Partition, Option: GUID,  Format: OS X Extended Journaled.
Typical large 4GB+ sized files are movies, imovie projects and raw (non-compressed) audio files. Naturally if you don't have any of these or can avoid backing them up (like you don't care about them) then there is no need to reformat the drive from FAT32/MSDOS.
Mac's cannot copy to nor format a NTFS  drive. ExFAT format to be used with a Windows machine must be right click formatted by Windows, not OS X (does it wrong) XP machines can install a free exFAT update from Microsoft. Vista-Win 8 can format exFAT.
Formatting a drive will erase all data on it.
Once the backup is completed, you can take your machine to a local PC/Mac tech and they can solve your software and or some hardware issues, but if a hardware issue is determined, you should take it to Apple first as they have the electronic checker.
If you get a new machine, drive or new OS X installed as a result of this problem, then you can access your external drive backup and restore just your files if the tech support won't or you rather do it yourself for privacy reasons.
1: Connect the drive and click on the icon and Finder > Get Info
2: At the bottom unlock and "Ignore Permissions on this volume" provide your Adim password.
3: Once your files are transferred to the new account, then perform #6 Reset User Permissions here

  • Bluetooth speaker pairing keeps failing no matter what I try.

I have a Jam Classic speaker that I successfully connected to my Mac Mini with no issues for many, many months. Then I recently reinstalled the OS. It's Yosemite, which is what it was before I reinstalled it. Now my Jam won't pair to it. It just keeps saying "pairing failed". I read the Apple troubleshooting page for bluetooth and tried everything they suggested. The speaker is fully charged and on, and bluetooth is on. The speaker is sitting right in front of my Mac, and the speaker has not been dropped or damaged. I tried turning bluetooth off and on. I tried shutting down my Mac for two minutes and restarting it. My wireless mouse is connected and works fine. I can't find any other advice to fix the problem. Everything is the same. I don't understand why it won't work now. The only thing that was done was reinstalling Yosemite, and if it was a problem with the OS, wouldn't the mouse not pair either? Please help, I can't afford to buy another speaker.

Thank you! That solved it. I thought it was a problem with my Mac Mini but it was actually the Jam Classic that was the issue. I needed to clear out it's pairing history by holding down the pause button for five seconds. Thanks so much for guiding me in the right direction!

  • Wheel keeps turning - trying to go from tiger to leopard

I put the 10.5 install disk in the drive, hit the restart button, and it has not come back yet. It has been an hour turning its wheel - I don't remember hearing a start-up sound - and I'm afraid to turn it off in fear of losing everything. I have everything backed up, so that's no problem. But what should I do now? Can I safely turn the power off?
Mac is a G4 with the bubble foot.

    In a word, yes.
When you restart try holding down the C key on your keyboard to boot from your 10.5 install disk.

  • WiFi activity wheel keeps turning in Safari

The cog-wheel-like WiFi activity indicator (next to the WiFi fan) is continuously turning when I use Safari. I have tried clearing the Safari cache and history, shutting off the WiFi and reconnecting, closing Safari and restarting, even turning off the iPad and turning it back on. Still, whenever I go into Safari, the wheel just keeps on turning. I am able to use Safari, but this apparently constant activity is worrying.
    Any ideas?
Okay, the problem has resolved itself. I have no idea how, but after I went to the Appstore and downloaded an update, then went back inti Safari, everything was fine again.
Message was edited by: David Neale1: problem resolved.

Well, I thought the problem was fixed, but today I have the same symptom: the activity wheel juxt keeps on turning when in Safari. I have even closed all open pages, but it still turns.
    Any help appreciated.

  • My settings keep resetting no matter what I try

I have been having a couple problems with my settings. It has happened a few times already, this time it started with iTunes, and it started like i just reinstalled, then it moved to Safari, and caused the setting to go back to factory setting. Now I had deleted some extra stuff on my laptop so i had to restart because i am running filevault, once I restart, everything was fine, and my setting were ok, but then I put my laptop to sleep, and when i woke it up everything went back to factory settings, all my preferences in applications and overall on the desktop. I am not really sure what to do? does anybody else know?
    Powerbook G4 1.67   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

well I havent changed my username ever since i started using my laptop, and i finally figured out not to use filevault but now i have to first free up some disk space so I can turn it off, because supposedly it needs just as much space open as much as it takes up. So if I havent changed my username do you know what else it could be?

  • ITunes keeps freezing no matter what I try. No that it controls all my music, and doesn't work, what am I supposed to do?

It seems that iTunes doesn't want to work. I've reinstalled, ugraded and restarted my computer. But nothing seems to work iTunes keeps freezing. Now it's just a useless app on my computer. It controls all the music and it's taken many hours to be bothered to use it, now that I depend on it it doesn't work. Is there another more reliable program that organizes and transfers music to iPods? Or am I just stuck with the music thats on my iTunes?
I'm not really impressed and that my family has many apple products that are mainly run by this one piece of software is mind bogglling.
Are there older versions of iTunes to use? because before this last update I had no issues.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Slow Mail app Wheel keeps turning every time I touch the program

My mail app has recently become cumbersome. Every time I write a few lines the little wheel turns until it seems it has saved to disc or to the iDisk. It is becoming a real pain in the neck. I noticed that it is also happening with Pages app too. I have archived 95% of all the old emails.
The genius in the local Mac Store said it is because it is syncing with MobileMe all the time. So I switched the syncing to Manual. but this has not solved the problem. Does anyone else have the same problem or have any ideas how to cure it. I have tried al the normal things like repair permissions, rebuild mailboxes etc.

I have just tried to change the new settings in Mail preferences.
The IMAP account setting have a tick box for IDLE (it is at the bottom of the "advanced" panel on the recent upgraded Mail 3). This is a setting which makes the IMAP accounts look up all the time to get the "push" email. I have set them to "off" and it seems to make a difference, but I am not sure that this is the cause.
However, It would seem realistic that if you have slow broadband speeds it will have a bigger effect than if you have fast broadband speeds. Here we have about 2 MBpS download and 0.3MBpS uploading.

  • Okay. youtube videos keep crashing no matter what i do. i made sure adobe was up to date, i cleared my cache and cookies even reset firefox.

only some crash though, but those that crash keep crashing over and over again at the same point. when i play then they'll start playing fine but when it get to a certain point the video will stop, the audio continues for about ten seconds then it stop too. the the screen get kinda pixelated and green then the video crashes. sometimes it ask to stop or continue plugin. please help I've googled this numerous time and simply dont know what do do anymore. ive got rid of extension that shouldn't be there and disabled unnecessary add-ons aswell

I don't know whether it will help, but Youtube uses the DASH method of sending videos in small bits. The YouTube Center extension can revert to the older method of sending the whole video as one giant file. Maybe that will work more smoothly? (Or maybe it will crash earlier???)
