Processor compatability

Hi, we are lenovo fanatics, we have 4 different lenovo's - an IBM Lenovo r60 2.0 dual core, a Lenovo r61 15.4 wide screen 1.8 800 MHZ FSB 2m cache dual core, a Lenovo V-200 1.8 dual core, and a T61 14" screen  2.2ghz 800mhz fsb 4m cache dual core- My question(s)    is this:
Are the processors in my R61 and T61 compatable?
Will the bios be compatable with the processors?
I know its probably foolish on my part because all of our lenovo's are very excellent machines, however I love the big 15.4" view of the R61 yet the t61's cpu power is far superior and I am hoping I can get the best of both worlds!
Please if anyone has the answer or any information pertaining to their compatability respond with haste,  Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and a special thank you to any and all who send a response

R61 and T61 uses the same processors, and depending on the FRU or version of the motherboard they also can be compatible with the T8xxx and T9xxx CPU.
Standard R61 and T61 both uses the Socket P version of the T5xxx and T7xxx CPU.
R60 CPU use the Socket M, so they are not compatible with R61/T6.
But make sure download CPU-Z and report back on what CPU you have.
Your R61 should be a T7100 and the T61 is the T7500.
But you will void your warranty by doing this swap.
If you want to go through with this follow these two guides.

  • Cluster Processor Compatibility.

Can you cluster nodes with E5-2600 processors (Sandy Bridge) and E5-2600 v2 (Ivy Bridge) without enabling Processor compatibility at the VM level?

    Hi AuZZZie,
We recommend you to use the identical hardware for Hyper-V cluster nodes.
Sandy and Ivy are different architecture , so they are different processor .
Based on my understanding , this is a compatibility issue on cluster level .
Here is an similar issue :

  • Need Help with Processor Compatability

    Good afternoon!
I am currently having issues with the installation of a new processor into my HP p7-1209. I am upgrading from an i3-2120 to an i7-2600k. After the processor is installed, as the system boots up, an error message appears.
"Incompatble CPU installed, the system will shut down shortly"
Everything that i have found, has pointed to the i7-2600k being compatable with my motherboard. This link to the HP product page also indicates that i am able to use this processor.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03369735&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N174
The PC specs are identical to this page with the exception of a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics card being installed.
I would really prefer to get this processor to work, so purchasing a new MoBo is an option, but i still believe that I can get this to work.
My only guess, is that the BIOS may be out of date, but unfortunately the only update that I can find is ONLY for Windows 8, as opposed to Windows 7.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you for your time!

Thanks for the information. I could not find 7.12 for download. I would suggest you try installing 8.19 from the following weblink:

  • Processor Compatibility  for PPC G5 June 2004

I just purchased a Mac G5 (2.5GHz Dual CPU) for repair. Any how, this is one of the models with water cooling which leaked. Needless to say the processors were completely corroded and I now am look for replacemnt processors off of ebay.I was wondwering how picky these PPC's are with processors ? I found some processors witch are 2.5 GHz. and for the June 2004 model, however, the part numbers do not match. I was wondering if I used the same processor with the same speed and model year will work. Does the processor have to have the identical part number ? Can anyone tell me how to find a list of compatable processors for my model ? Thanks.

Hi, no expert here, but let me toss out a few things...

  • Mac Pro 5,1 processor compatibility?

I have a 2010 8 core 2.4GHz Mac Pro and for curiosity's sake I wanted to know what my options were in terms of upgrade? I just got the unit, so no changes are immediate. But it's my understanding that I could eventually swap the 2.4 chips for faster 3.33 chips or whatever may come along with the Westmere cores? I do understand the memory would need to be upgraded as well.

I would have said don't buy 2.4GHz, and skip on 8-core. Inside the 14 days? would have been nice to read and ask here, and check out
    http://www.macperformanceguide.com
You could buy low end and drop in a faster 4 or 6-core is much easier and cheaper to buy (W3500/3600) on single processor as even i7's work.
I don't know if Xeon will ever drop or be cheap enough to be reasonable upgrade. And then usually the BIOS (EFI) has to support said new processor or stepping, which may not happen (Apple doesn't do EFI updates for such things, they sell new models).
SSDs, adequate RAM, depends what you do, and whether you need Quadro 4000 or what software. Nehalem brought the memory controller into the processor and MacSAles does have a Mac Pro cpu Turnkey program, but way expensive.
The memory you have should be fine, but I would stick to ECC and forget any bargain buys.
I prefer shop these instead of new usually

  • BT Infinity and laptop processor compatability

I have just ordered BT Infinity to be installed in October 2012.
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with an Intel Pentium Dual Core !.60 GHz processor. The laptop utilises Vista Home Edition with Service Pack 2. The RAM memory is 2 GB and have installed a 'n' type USB wireless adapter.
The BT Home Hub 3, hopefully, will be using 'n' type wireless network.
The BT Infinity installataion web page calls for the processor to have a minimium specification of 2 GHz.
Will my existing laptop with an Intel Pentium Dual Core !.60 GHz processor work with BT Infinity using 'n' type wireless network?
BT Infinity Help Desk could not confirm that it will work, so any advise would be welcome.

That only refers to all of the extra BT software, which you do not need anyway, as it will work without it.
Just enter the wireless key into your laptop, and it should be fine.

I just had a TRUE windfall happen to me and if I'm lucky, well, I can't believe my luck.... My boss's laptop was 'retired' (for VERY good reason.. Totally smashed...screen cracked, case 'munched', keyboard crushed... a total and disatrous 'wipeout' .... EXCEPT that.. ready for this?  The i7-2630QM quad-core processor PGa988 is untouched!!  I just tested it in the lab and it passes with flying colors!  Oh baby... fantastic luck - or so I hope..    So...  input PLEASE... Can I possibly install this in my Z560 that now has an i5 480M in it..?  Oh please, please, please say it is possible...!!  DANG!  A real quad-core in my trusty Z560..?!?!?  My SSD made a HUGE performance increase - but THIS i7 would be the true icing on the cake...!!  Revit 2015, here I come...!!PLEASE tell me it's possible... • Power Mac G4 MDD MOBO and Processor Compatibility

I have two G4 MDD Motherboards. One MOBO is a 820-1474A (FW800) and the other is a 820-1476A (with just 2 FW 400 ports). I was told the 1476A is a 167Mhz buss and the 1474A is a 133Mhz buss board. I've tried installing a Dual Processor module PN 820-1472A onto the 1476A board but it doesn't work. It powers on, all the fans turn on, the processor gets warm and I see a RED light come on near the RAM slots but I don't hear that normal Apple 'GONG' sound during turn on. I know Apple built numerous CPU's (single and dual)for the MDD and some of these CPU's are not cross compatible. I'm really confused now with all these PN's and what CPU's can work on what MOBO. Where can I go to find out what PN's are compatible?? I tried two other single processor CPU's 1.25Mhz with the 1474A MOBO and I get the same results as I do with the 1474A MOBO. So now I have all these parts and no confidence on what is good and what is bad??
More Background -- I've got 2 brand new 512MB PC 2700 chips purchased from '4 All Memory' specifically for a G4 MDD, an Radeon ATI video card that works fine in one of my other G4's and my boot drive is an IDE 320G with OS 10.4.11 installed and the power supply is a API1PC36 (360W).

  • G56 processor compatibility questions

    hi
i have a g56 106sa and im hoping to upgrade the processor from the athlon 2 to this
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TMRM72DAM22GG-2-1Ghz-PC-Laptop-AMD-Turion-64-X2-dual-CPU-Socket-638-S1-Pro...
the laptop is well out of its warranty period
what im worried about is will the bios allow this upgrade ? and are there any other factors that might stand in the way ?
    thanks, alex

Not sure why you are thinking this is an upgrade. The two processors are very similar: 2.1 ghz dual core AMDs with dual 512kb L2 cache. Here is a head to head comparison showing the Athlon II is actually a bit more capable:

  • Sc1435 processor compatibility

I would like to upgrade the processors (2) in my PowerEdge sc1435 server, does anyone know which quad core Opteron's will work with the latest bios 2.2.5?
Current processors are 2218's (original equipment)
I am looking at a pair of 2382 processors as my upgrade (OS2382WAL4DGI)

a complete list of compatible AMD processors would be nice, but if anyone knows the 2382's will work, is fine with me.

    Thanks to all who respond.

    Mombodog,
The 2382 (part # U345J) is compatible with the SC1435, as well as the 2389 (part #D260R). Which are the strongest Opterons we have that are compatible.

Let me know if this helps.

  • DB2e processor compatibility

    Hi all,
I have been looking through some of the DB2e notes and information and cannot seem to find a reference to the type of processor that it is developed for on the Pocket PC. I am using DB2eV822 on Windows Mobile 5.0 with MI 2.5 patch 18. It installs fine on most devices but I am having a problem with one.
Does anybody know if it is developed with a processor in mind?
    Thanks in advance,
    - Ronan

    HI Karthik,
I have 2 devices both with Intel XScale processors. One of them runs the ARMV4I processor set in which the DB2e will not install when I deploy it, I don't know what the other one has but it works. I don't actually need to fix this problem as I will go with the one that works, but just in case I run into the same problem down the line I will know that I will be able to get a device that works before having to test it.
    Thanks,
    - Ronan

  • Motherboard / processor compatibility?

Ok guys got a tough one here for you. Is the Asus cm1630 motherboard compatible with the amd 1090t processor?

Your last sentence made me laugh. I have ASUS RoG on my Facebook "likes" and they're always posting about the Crosshairs. I want one, but the one I have P6tDeluxe V2 works perfectly fine for now.

  • Processor Compatibility

I am looking at an upgrade for my 867MHz Quicksilver, and a dual CPU card looks really good.
I am aware of all the upgrades (i.e. Sonnet, NewerTech, etc) but in my budget, an OEM card from a better G4 is probably better. I know that the best Quicksilver config is a dual 1Ghz, so would I be safe buying one and dropping it in without configuring any jumpers or anything?
Additionally, I know that a MDD processor won't work in a Quicksilver mobo. I found this on eBay, and it doesn't say what mobo it's for. Can any of you experts tell me just by looking at the picture? Thanks. I'm hoping to get at least another year out of my G4!
    Thanks in advance

I think that one is from a Mirrored Drive Doors model. It includes the black card-holder used in the MDD, shown on the right of the photo.
There is a check you have to run to be sure your Mac can accept a dual processor. A little free third-party utility is used to check the version of something? Memory controller maybe? Someone will help us remember the name and the version required.
