Processor scored 1,9 on windows 7
my new ideapad s12 via scored 1,9 on windows 7 rating.
my old eeepc 1000h with atom 270 scored 2,2 !
i'm 100% sure and I can feel that VIA is faster than atom but why that low score??

Image Processor script won't close windows
I'm testing a client's favorite method for converting folders of, say, 1000 images from RAW to large JPEG. He now uses Photoshop in CS3: He opens File Menu > Scripts > Image Processor, designates a huge folder of RAW files, sets the right parameters, and saves to a different folder. Works perfectly (but slowly) on a Mac G5.
Now I am testing it on a Mac Pro in PS-CS4, the setup he wants to buy, using exactly the same parameters. Trouble is, the window that opens on each document isn't closed, and so they accumulate! Doesn't matter whether Tabs is enabled or not. Starts eating up scratch space and has the potential to open 1000 tabs or windows. Something is wrong.
Same operation works perfectly in PS-CS3 on this Mac Pro.
If the Close Window is missing from this repeating script, then it should be added back -- or a checkbox should be added: "Close each window." I haven't been able to create an Action that will close each window without confusing the Save/Save As mechanism in the script.
How can I report this apparent bug? Or can someone please tell me what I'm missing.
(I know there are other ways to accomplish this task. But this one should work!)From Kathy: "I still can not find out your issues here. You may try report this to adobe through this link.
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform"
Thank you, Kathy! This was the tip I needed. I thought that Adobe may, indeed, be monitoring this forum. Many manufacturers monitor and post in their own forums, e.g. Apple.
"Also one simple workaround for you, could be create a close action and run this action in Image Processor."
I really did try this. Trouble is, you run into unresolvable interactions with a Save As dialog. I.e. the Close Action seems to interfere with the saving of the converted JPEG. At least I couldn't get it to work -- but it should not be necessary.
There are workarounds, such as selecting multiple items in Bridge, opening them all into ACR, and then selecting them all and clicking Save File. Doesn't open any windows at all! But the bug still needs to be reported.
From Ramon: "Before your frustration causes you to become overly argumentative, you may want to consider that your interlocutor may actually know a bit more than you seem to think she does. Kathy may even be part of the Adobe team, for all you know."
You are reading way too much into what I said. Argumentative? I meant what I said literally. The behavior of the Image Processor script should not have any dependencies, and the documentation (such as it is) indicates none whatever. Further, the script, when run identically in CS3, runs perfectly. -
Can't use Graphics Processor for Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8
Hi,
I just got a fresh upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro (not beta) but then I can't use Photoshop that well. In the Preferences > Performance, I can't tick "Use Graphics Processor". I have an ATI graphics card and yep, I've already tried upgrading/reinstalling my graphics driver, even installing old ones -- and still, this doesn't solve my problem (even in its control panel, I can't seem to see the settings of the graphics card!)
Any ideas/suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks! What display driver have you installed? And what is your card?
The ATI Catalyst 12.8 driver release claims to be compatible with Windows 8, though I haven't tried the combination myself yet.
Did you install Windows 8 as an upgrade or a clean install? The latter is always preferable.
I know a secret registry incantation that will force Photoshop to use the OpenGL subsystem no matter what, and I've used that to get GPU acceleration in a test installation in a virtual machine, but rather that put that forth just yet let's find out if you've done all you can the "above board" way first.

Mindful of the awful cockup that was the windows 8.1 upgrade years back ( Leaving CQ58 users with no WIFI for 2 months until HP eventually brings out a new BIOS version to fix the problem) I need to get a checklist off HP before I attempt to upgrade this rig to Windows 10. 1. What is the MINIMUM BIOS version that will support Windows 10 and not break any of Networking Sound Video or USB2. What is the RECOMMENDED BIOS version that will support Windows 10 if different to above.3. Can I have a link to download that BIOS verion from HP. 4. IF No recommended BIOS exists at present how long do we CQ58 owners have to wait until HP tests and releases one before we attempt an upgrade???5. Separately is there a UEFI security update BIOS for CQ58 models and if not when. ??? TIA
Bios will not help, more important is if there are hardware Drivers for Windows 10, all you can do is try the upgrade and see if W10 can install proper drivers, after W10 is installed Windows update will look for more if needed.

Windows allow only a maximum of 64 Logical processors.
If more than 64 Logical Processors are used it splits them into groups.
In our case for example. we have a machine(windows 2012 R2) with 72 Logical processors which is split into two processor groups of 36.
My issue is the java process can run only on one group of 36 Logical processors. and can not take advantage of the processing power of both groups.
I tried changing the affinity in order two enable processors from both groups, but windows only allows one processor group to be selected.
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd405503%28v=vs.85%29.aspx)Hi xmnix,
>>we have a machine(windows 2012 R2) with 72 Logical processors which is split into two processor groups of 36.
>>My issue is the java process can run only on one group of 36 Logical processors. and can not take advantage of the processing power of both groups.
I think it is related to NUMA .
According to your description , I think the machine should have 2 slots for CPU ,if it is intel then each CPU has 18 cores (36 logical processors ) .
Based on my understanding the "Group" you mentioned is named "NUMA Node" .
For performance "Node interleaving" is disabled by defalt in BIOS ,so there are two NUMA nodes in your case .
If you still want to use all Logical Processors you may need to contact the hardware vendor .

Windows 98 Locks up after changing processor
I have a MSI K7T Turbo w/ the latest bios update. I am running Windows 98SE. I changed from a duron 750 to a 1.1Ghz Athlon. The system worked fine until the processor change. Now, when windows boots up, it gets to the desktop, and locks up. Windows will boot into safe mode, where I have deleted the system devices in Control Panel/System/Device Manager. When rebooting, after running the add new hardware wizard, it will find all the system devices, and then restart, but then it hangs again when detecting new devices. Any help??
Video is AGP, Diamond Viper V770 (32MB)
1st PCI is DSI Modem (DI5630)
2nd PCI is SoundBlaster Live
3rd PCI is free
4th PCI is Adaptec AHA-2940UW SCSI Card
512MB PC133 SDRAM ( 2 x 256)
Bios settings are pretty much defaults except for disabling video bios shadow (not needed on modern pc's, and onboard sound/modem disable)
Power Supply is Deer LC300ATX 300w p/s w/ 165w for 3.3 rail.

Install JMF on Windows 7 64bit
Dear all,
After a lot of struggling (and a really mean a lot), I finally got jmf to work on Windows 7 64bit. I figured that I can better not let this information go to waste, so that's why I'm posting it here. I didn't really test the full capabilities of jmf on my platform yet, in fact I only tested those features that I needed for my application. As such I am able to successfully capture and record video clips from my build in webcam of my laptop.
First let me describe my platform:
Laptop: Samsung R590 (JS01)
Processor: I5 450M (64bit)
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Webcam: build in
Secondly I want to apologize in advance if the method below doesn't work for you. The reason for that can be that I had to try so many different things before I finally got it to work, so I'm not really sure which steps are necessary and which ones are not. So I tried to make a guide that only includes the necessary steps, but in reality I tried so much more, so if this tutorial doesn't work for you, please give me feedback, and we'll try to figure it out. :)
Step one: installation of java JRE/JDK
JMF will never work on a 64bit JRE/JDK, plain and simple because JMF is too old and doesn't support a 64bit JRE/JDK. Thus your first step has to be to install a 32 bit JRE/JDK on your system. (I uninstalled my 64 bit JRE/JDK first, but I don't now whether or not this is necessary)
Step two: download JMF with windows performance pack
Go to the jmf site and download the most recent jmf version, with windows performance pack. (This is - and will probably be forever - version 2.1.1e)
The link to the website is currently: [https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=7372-jmf-2.1.1e-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_Developer]
Step three: install JMF
Install the file you just downloaded in the normal way you would install any other program. But chose as installation path: "C:\JMF2.1.1e"
I think this is necessary because of the strict security policy in Windows 7, if you don't do this, I guess jmf won't be able to store capture device settings to your local hard drive. (But again, I'm not completely sure here, please verify this if possible)
After the installation, you don't have to do anything special to get jmf to work, so you don't manually have to set the JMFDIR, PATH and CLASSPATH (as is explained at the sun website), just skip those steps.
After the installation, reboot your pc.
Remark: I recommend you to install jmf as an administrator (but I don't now whether or not this is necessary). To do this, right click the installation file and select: "run as administrator'.
*Step four: register your capture devices*
First make sure that all your devices are working properly, I recommend you to use a program like Skype or something just to check whether your microphone is working or not.
Secondly, open jmfstudio, select 'file > preferences > capture devices', and press the button 'detect capture devices'. Normally you will have to wait for a couple of minutes now (because the determination of all the available video formats takes quite a while). Afterwards jmf should have found all of your devices, that usually looks something like this:
DirectSoundCapture
JavaSound audio capture
vfw:Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32):0
But this can vary according to your configuration off course. :)
*Step four: test your capture devices*
In jmfstudio, select 'file > capture' and select the video and audio combo and see if your webcam settings work. You should now be able to view and hear yourself.
*Step five: that's it, enjoy your jmf*
*Remarks:*
My development platform is currently netbeans 6.9.1 and I am able to write code, build it and run it with netbeans. I can also just run normal *.jar files
*Troubleshoot:*
If you get a dialog screen when starting your video capture device that looks like this: [http://www.alexandria.nu/ai/machine_vision/dual_cameras/SelectDevice.gif]
(With off course another name for the capture device), then that means that your capturing device is currently occupied by another program and you can't currently use it.
To solve this, make sure that no other application is using the webcam. For me even this was insufficient, but I managed to solve this by installing the latest drivers for my webcam from the manufacturing site of my laptop.
I sincerely hope this tutorial can be of any use for someone, feel free to give me comments/suggestions. And please post here if this works for you or not.
Greetings, MollyHi
sure I follow each of your steps, I uninstall all java verisones and installed a new java version 32-bit, I installed JMF in "C: \ JMF2.1.1e".
when all installing finished, works fine JMF only once, I do the tests, recognizes the device; shows the video, but when I close and open again JStudio don't works throws error, and therefore my apliación not working, always returns null the device -

You can see file is corrupt. So either you have to download the setup file again or there can be chance that Antivirus caused some issue.
Plus if you see starting of summary.txt you could see
Requested action: LandingPage
The error message came while landing page was being loaded/or was in action so again I think it is some thing related to corrupt media or antivirus.
Please
1. Download ISO file again and extract using WINRAR, don't use Winzip
2. Disable Antivirus.
3. Make a new folder and extract installable there.

How come iTunes is not compatable on my Surface tablet with windows 8?
I got this tablet and it wasmeant to replace my older laptop. But everytime i try downloading itunes for my phone, it says 'The app cant be run on my PC". This is a huge reason of why even got the tablet. As i talked to a technician for windows, they said it was up to apple to make it compatible. I was curious when this is going to happen because it not being compatable is a big pain considering how iTunes hold all the info that my iPhone holds.
Okay, here's what's going on:
1. The Windows 8 name is actually applied to two operating systems that are designed to look and feel the same- one for your standard "x86" processors like the ones made by Intel and AMD that power most PCs and laptops, and one for "ARM" (and ARM derivitative) processors, like the ones that frequently power tablets and phones.
2. The x86 Windows 8 devices are backwards compatible with stuff designed for Windows 7 (and Windows Vista, and some Windows XP stuff). So they'll run itunes, etc..
3. The ARM version of Windows 8 devices is only compatible with stuff designed for Windows 8 specifically, usually sold through the Windows 8 store and displayed as a tile on the main screen once purchased (The major exception being Microsoft Office, which can run in desktop mode). This is because stuff designed for Windows 7 and before was compiled for x86 processors, an ARM processor doesn't know what to do with it.
3. Your Surface RT device is powered by an ARM processor, so you have no backwards compatibility.
4. Itunes is right now compiled only for x86 processors, and those will only work with Windows 8 machines with x86 processors, which you don't.
5. Apple may or may not decide to release a version of itunes that's compatible with the ARM version of Windows 8 (frequently referred to as Windows 8 RT). We just don't know, because they haven't said that they will or they won't. Right now there is no compatible version.
6. So your options are to use music software that is compatible with Windows 8 RT (I am guessing it comes with some version of Windows Media Player), wait till Apple comes out with a version of Itunes for Windows RT (Which it may or may not do), or return your Surface RT and buy a more traditional laptop with an Intel or AMD processor instead (The version of Windows 8 that can run on those chips can do itunes in desktop mode).
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I can see where this would be a little confusing. Microsoft probably should have given it's ARM-based operating system a name other than "Windows". -
How to get source code for WinCE 6.0 USB Camera Driver for ARM4I Processor
Hi,
I am implementing USB camera driver for my mini2440 board which has an ARM4I processor. The sample code
"Windows Embedded CE 6.0 USB camera Driver" downloaded from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2ef087c0-a4ae-42cc-abd0-c466787c11f2
does not support ARM4I processors. When trying to generate in VS2005 Platform Builder my WinCE 6.0
image for mini2440 with the Third party catalog items "MJPEG Decompression Filter" and "USB CameraDriver",
the linker giver errors. Please advise where to find a working source code for USB (now revision 1.1
("full-speed") is supported in my WinCE 6.0 image) camera for my ARM4I processor. The code should
be in C# but C++ will be fine also.
Thanks,
Pauli get this on the hyperterminal when i run the cameradshowapp.exe
