Processor ugrade on 3000 C200

hi
Im wondering if its possible to upgrade the processor in a 3000 C200 (8922-A43) ?
If it is, what kind of processor would give me the best performance? its currently a celeron M 1.73 ghz with 1gb of ram and a 80gb hard drive.
And is there any high capacity batteries for this laptop?

Yea, this 63af08us.exe Version 3.12, 7th Release BIOS upgrade thing is quite the drag!
The BIOS upgrade literally doesn't work...although you wouldn't know it from watching the BIOS Update Utility erase and re-write the new 18 blocks.
The BIOS Update Utility gives every indication of working correctly, right down to creating and dropping a bios.bak file in the C:\Drivers\WIN\FLASH\63af08us folder.
The Utility even shuts the notebook down like it is suppose to.
Then you enter the BIOS [via F1], to eyeball the version and discover it is still 63ET62W. I tried 3 times to upgrade from 63ET62W (04/30/07) to 61ET37WW (06/28/2007) tonight on my LENOVO 3000 C200, 8922-2AU and have given up.
Something like this should just work. This isn't brain surgery. Anybody have a clue?

Lenovo 3000 C200 turns on but fails to start

Greetings all!
I have a problem with my Lenovo 3000 C200 and I'm hoping someone can help. Please be patient with me as I'm not as good with computers as I am with larger equipment. The problem goes like this:
I bought the laptop used about a year ago, running Windows Vista Business. It has worked without any problems until a recent work related trip to California 3 weeks ago where a balloon popped up telling me Windows Live OneCare was expiring and I needed to uninstall it and replace it with a different antivirus software. I didn't think much about it at the time and was going to install the newest version of Norton when I got home and back to work but before I could, I started getting the following error messages popping up on the screen during startup and intermittently while the computer was running

MSASCUI.EXE
PHOTOSCREENSAVER.SCR
SHELLEXECUTEEXFAILED (code 3221225794)
one of the guys I work with suggested I uninstall Windows Live OneCare and restart the computer but when I tried I noticed the "change/remove programs" prompt was missing. Also, I was unable to open Word documents, Excel files, download programs from the internet, etc.
another coworker suggested it might be a virus or Trojan and attempted to connect his laptop to mine via a Belkin Easy Transfer Cable, thinking he would scan my hard drive remotely with the antivirus software on his computer and remove anything harmful. As soon as the cable was connected, it flashed an application error message on the screen of my Lenovo (I didn't see exactly what it said) and about 30 seconds later my screen went black.
Now, when I press the power button, the fan comes on, it starts to make noise, the CD drive will start to spool up (if there's a disc in it) but stops before actually doing anything. Doesn't seem to matter if it's plugged in or running on battery, none of the F keys seem to do anything during this time and the screen never comes on. I've tried running the boot disc that came with it but no luck there either.
I don't use this computer for much other than checking email when away from home, charging my phone and ipod and watching movies or doing paperwork on the plane. Unfortunately, I'm away from home a lot so it's pretty inconvenient to be without it!
If anyone has a suggestion I'd really appreciate the help! If you've already covered this someplace else, please forgive the repost. And sorry for the book, just not sure what info might be helpful.

Ok, here's the results:
Tried plugged in but with battery out - no change
Unplugged, removed battery, held power button for 30 seconds, reinstalled battery, replugged - no change
Removed memory modules and reinstalled in original positions - no change
Removed modules and tried one at a time in different positions - this did change things! One module had no change in either location, the other allowed the computer to start and run (back to the point of the original problems with the error messages and unable to open word docs, etc) in both locations. Installing the second (bad?) module in addition to the "good" module caused the computer to not start again, removed it and computer restarts fine.
So I'm guessing I need to replace the one apparently defective memory module and see if that takes care of the rest of the problems? Or is there something else I need to do to address the error messages and functionality issues?
And by the way, thanks for all the help!

The system drivers for Windows 8 is not available presently.
You need to wait for the Windows 8 compatibly check.

First i was i like, "I Reinstalled windows on my 3000 c200" then i was like WHAT ?

So I go and download all the necesary drivers, then try to isntall and get this message from Hardware Update Wizard:
The location specified does not exist or cannot be reached. Please enter another location or uncheck the "Include this location in the search" box.

Does the laptop have a Flash Card Reader(for SD cards). I believe the "Base system devices" are flash controllers. as for the rest i can help once you tell me the model number besides 3000 c200 so i can check the drivers page.

Power Adapter 3000 c200

Hi,
Grandson in a bit of a pickle (needs this for school) so he turned to me and I don't have an answer, hopefully one of you fine folks can help
He has a Lenovo 3000 c200 and the power adapter has broken and needs to be replaced.
Someone has offered to lend him their adapter from a Lenovo Thinkpad X60
I looked up the adapter on the Lenovo site and it appears to indicate that the adapter is the same for both models and therefore he can use the X60 one on the C200....
Can someone verify of that is correct?

both of them has same specifications such as 20v, 4,5a, 90 watt, input : 100-240v ~ 1.5a 50/60 hz.
so, he can use it. ( still to make sure, check specifications by yourself, too )

Screen problem 3000 c200

Hello,
My 3000 c200 Lenovo screen turned to half working normally and the other half is not working normally.

I’m sorry to know that the display is not working as expected in your c200 All-In-One computer, below are the steps to diagnose the issue.
To perform “Flee Power” remove the power cable and any other peripheral device connected to the computer. Hold the power button for 10 seconds and then connect back the cable and check, if the issue is same.
Check in BIOS, to get into BIOS restart the computer and then press Fn+F1 if the issue persists, then the issue is with hardware.
I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance this is the only available option to get this query resolved.

Ram in my 3000 c200

Probably stupidest question of the day how much RAM can I put in my 3000 C200 some placesm say 2GB some 4GB.

I have got 3GB. My C200 came with 1GB, I could only buy a 2GB stick from my computer store, so I installed it. Works fine. 4GB would probably suffice.
My C200 has the Celeron Chip, so the chip is slower than the ram. If I could make the Celeron chip any better, then that would be great.

IBM indicates your part numbers could be this: 39T7353 or this: 39T7417 if you have a laptop designed for English in the USA.
Try these people: http://www.acsparts.com/contact_us.asp Do check your machine first (remove the keyboard & look at its exact part number). They can order things they don't have in stock from the warehouse. I bought a replacement keyboard for my 3000 N200 from them a few months ago, it was an exact replacement.

Can anyone confirm the fastest processor I would be able to put in this system?
It currently has a T2060 processor.
I would like to go all the way to the t7200 if it will work...

It seems that the N100 utilizes either the 945GM or 945PM chipset. If that's the case, you should be able to go up to the Core 2 Duo T7600 [2.33GHz]. However, you may experience elevated operating temperatures as the T7600 consumes more power than the Pentium Dual Core T2060.
**Please confirm the chipset with CPU-Z.
If you are looking for increased performance, a 7200RPM hard drive would be ideal.

3000 C200 Switch display when LCD is broken - SOLVED

I want to install windows but it is automatically diskplaying on the built-in screen (which is broken). What keystrokes do I press in BIOS? (I've tried F9 -> Enter -> F10 -> enter to no success).
The ubuntu install disk works but I don't want to use Linux on this machine.
SOLVED: Press power and wait 3-5 seconds -> press F1 -> right -> down -> enter -> down -> enter -> F10 -> enter.

Okay, let us move on. Disconnect the external monitor, remove battery from the laptop, unplug laptop cable for a few minutes, put everything back on and press the following combination in the this exact order: Fn+F3+Caps. My 3000 C200 won't display anything on start up for over an hour

I have had this unit for three years and when it is turned on It displays a message ' optimising image' but I still can't see anything for at least an hour. This occurred after an update was installed, have tried going back to restore points previous to the update but still no joy , I'm really not " tech savvy " so simple answers will really help.
It was suggested to take the machine back to factory settings , and as I have now got all documents/pictures and important info on an external hard drive so this is an option , but I also don't know how to do this either ....
Please any help to a technofobe would be appreciated

Resseting the system to its Factory default using the OKR feature.
While the system is OFF
Turn ON the system then start tapping F2
You should be booted to a Recovery Screen Proceed by selecting a factory image.
(Dataloss is part of the recovery so make sure Everything is backed up)

Unable to install windows xp on lenovo 3000 c200

Hi my old os had a virus and I needed to reinstall and when I tried to install xp pro I kept getting a blue screen and a stop error when setup would try to start windows.I thought it was the hard drive but when I replaced it I got the same error message.I've tried updating the bios and that has not worked ether.below is the stop error that I keep getting.Thanks

3000 C200 Monitor issue - Desktop displays inverted colours (like photo negatives)

Hi,
My LCD monitor is displaying EVERYTHING in inverted colours (desktop, websites, photos etc.) It just started doing this earlier today when I moved the laptop from my desk to the couch. Can someone tell me how I can fix this, or if there is a utility (for Windows XP) that enables my PC to invert colours (for the whole computer, not just for images).
I have adjusted display properties and checked High Contrast in Accessibility options. I have also tried PowerStrip and different magnifiers, and I have checked that my video and adapter drivers are up to date. I believe that this is a problem with the LCD screen and not with my settings. If it is a physical problem with the monitor then my warranty has run out so I would appreciate it if you can recommend the correct parts to buy to fix this or possibly a tutorial to show me how to open the monitor and fix it myself.

Try downloading one of so called "LiveCD"-s, for example [url=http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd ]hiren's[/url] , or PartedMagic or another program that can use 32-bit colour in non-windows enviroment (Linux is acceptable also as non-windows enviroment ) and check whether the problem persists. If colours are normal, the problem is in drivers or registry tweak, thus haven't hear about such thing ever.
Another (simpliest) way is to take screenshot and e-mail it to someone that owns a normal-colour-displaying comp. If the screenshot is clear (colours are ok), then problem is in your LCD and you'll have to have a pleasant date with service-centre =)

3000 C200 (8892 - kg) model sound problem on win7 upgrade

Hello!
I have a "little" problem with the sound device. Headphones does not mute the main speakers. I've been through many posts and forums. The symptoms are:
headphones wont show at all in the sound panel menu nor is there a separate volume control for them available, they wont show even in the sound advanced tab. However, when i plug in/out the headphones jack the relatek hd audio manager does show that action but it does not mute the speakers.
Here's what i tried:
I updated the BIOS to the latest version, 2.08 and payed attention to update the "realtek" bios version.
I tried many realtek drivers. I updated the lenovo system platform driver. I uninstalled all drivers than installed the intel inf update before all and then installed sound drivers again. I read somewhere to try install the alcxxx drivers first the the realtek r drivers, i did it with no sucess. Every possible combination gave me the same result. Speakers and headphones working at the same time, no volume control for the headphones nor they're shown in the sound devices (realtek 2nd hd ouptut i guess).
I am a "little" frustrated now but calm cause i got already the name for such situations "factor X" as simple as that
Anyone has any further suggestion/idea??? Very much appreciated, thanks in advance!!!

have you tried to use another headphone? - also make sure you connect the headphones well -
